Hooray, VBers!

Just finished watching the women move into sole posession of 1st place in the conference by beating #4 Texas 3-1 in Lawrence. Some fantastic play by both teams!

@mayjay

I watched the game myself, great win for the Lady Jayhawks.

Oct 11, 2018 03:18 AM #3

Hmmm...I didn't realize that Women's VB was a subset of a football coach being fired. I wasn't following that thread cuz I really didn't care too much. Just now read it and see that a lot of you were posting there. I was wondering why no one was watching!

Oct 11, 2018 03:20 AM #4

@mayjay like to keep ya on your toes. Any wind yet?

Oct 11, 2018 03:31 AM #5

@mayjay it just kinda took off on that thread because several of us were watching it lol.

@Crimsonorblue22 Tropical force winds are supposed to get here about 3 or 4 a.m. according to Accuweather, but the NHC seems to think winds will be here a couple hours later. Forecast says about 5 hours worth, with some of 45 to 50, with gusts over 70. We will be just south of the track, putting us squarely in the worst zone.

Our neighbor has two tall pine trees that I am skeptical of. Cannot see them in the dark. I wish the winds from these storms would once, just once, arrive in daytime here (Florence was at 2 a.m.). And they just announced a tornado 45 miles south of here, so there is that, too.

Maybe I will stay up to keep track of this crap so I can move wifey to another room far from the trees if the winds seem to make it necessary (NOT WAKING HER UP UNNECESSARILY, NO SIR!).

Oct 11, 2018 03:40 AM #7

@kjayhawks I figured. Usually that has happened in a bb thread so I would catch it.

For that matter, now my latest weather reports are in the VB thread. Go figure.

Maybe @approxinfinity needs to create a cross-topic refereincing system.

Uh oh! TV just buzzed a tornado watch. About our 5th this year. Reminds me of living in Kansas. I swear, if I die in a tornado from a GD tornado in SC after moving from Tornado Alley, I will be so damned mad for eternity!

Oct 11, 2018 03:41 AM #8

@mayjay if the wind gets up, please do! Oh and🤣

Oct 11, 2018 04:02 AM #9

@Crimsonorblue22 Went out to watch the clouds moving fast. Came in, saw we now have a tornado warning here until 7 a.m. Moved wife away from trees. No complaints!

Will probably be busy for awhile... Gnight!

Oct 11, 2018 04:09 AM #10

@mayjay be safe buddy

Oct 11, 2018 04:14 AM #11

@mayjay warning til 7? Glad you moved👱‍♀️

Oct 11, 2018 04:32 AM #12

@Crimsonorblue22 Depends on who you consult. Local news says Twatch until 7, Accuweather said Twarning until 7, but they just changed it to TS warning til 7 along with the tornado watch (2 separate alert boxes), but local news say TS warning is through Saturday.

TWarning here has expired. It now looks like the original Accuweather may have been exaggerated, with heaviest winds up to 40 for several hours just after the "reputed" sunrise that won't happen. Will probably only get to the 30's overnight. Gusts up to 50.

@mayjay

If is any consolation, the weather here has been cold (30s-40s) and rainy...really, really rainy...for the last few days and will continue through the weekend. By the time it warms up some early next week the yard will be like jungle...with isolated lakes...:unamused:

Oct 12, 2018 08:03 PM #14

@JayHawkFanToo Sounds pleasant. At least it has been warm here (the 30's I mentioned were wind speeds). We got a low temp last night of 56, which is the first temp in the 50's since April. Dry now. You would never know a killer storm had snuck by 24 hrs ago.

It's been crazy. I thought the creek near my house was going to flood.

Oct 12, 2018 08:21 PM #16

@dylans Been wondering--any of that rain ever get to you, or are you still stuck where the storms magically split and pass by to leave you dry?

Oct 12, 2018 08:24 PM #17

@mayjay

Extensive flooding in the KC area. We basically skipped Spring and went from Winter into Summer and now look like we might skip Fall and plunge into Winter. Crazy year.

Oct 12, 2018 08:34 PM #18

@mayjay Thankfully it broke free mid June and has been wet ever since. 6” last weekend.

Oct 13, 2018 07:26 PM #19

Oct 18, 2018 02:12 AM #20

maybe we got a little bit much of ourselves

Oct 18, 2018 03:00 AM #22

Yep dropped the third set after leading by 4 in it now down 6 in the fourth. It looks exactly like when they beat us in Basketball, we just show up and they have the energy and fire. I just turned it off, I ain’t gonna watch a team just go thru the motions like they have better to do. Maybe they over looked KSU with the big games they’ve won and KSU being 0-6 in the league. Sadly I think we had like 7 or 8 straight wins in the series. It just stuff you’d expect from a young team but still disappointing.

Oct 18, 2018 03:30 AM #30

@mayjay

Me too...ESPN says commercial break....

Oct 18, 2018 03:31 AM #31

@JayHawkFanToo Lost 27-25.

Oct 18, 2018 03:32 AM #32

Feed is back, KSU wins 27-25...rats...😒

Oct 18, 2018 03:35 AM #33

Snapped a 9 game winning streak against them, guess we’ll have to start a new one.

Nov 15, 2018 02:58 PM #34

Blew a 2 set lead to KSU last night in Lawrence, I watched the first 4 set before I turned it off. I know this team is young and lacking experience but man they seem to have no fire whatsoever. I thought this team was a shoe-in for the dance but they may well be playing themselves outta a bid at this point.

Nov 15, 2018 03:20 PM #35

@kjayhawks

I agree. This team seems to play to the level of the competition and appears to have little determination/motivation. Swept by KSU is not good.

Nov 15, 2018 04:06 PM #36

@kjayhawks lost 2 good coaches
