Jul 17, 2019 03:43 AM #1

I thought he would play a year at Sunshine Academy first.... but Dajuan decided on instant sunshine!

The stars are aligning. Dajuan will be instant synergy for Devon, like the Frank and Devonte combo all over again!

Welcome aboard, Dajuan!

That was quick. Welcome young man. We'll see what you become if you stick it out

@drgnslayr Beautiful. He has length for miles.

HAVE WE DISCUSSED HIS QUOTES YET? Kid is from Columbia Missouri and spitting these truths. :sunglasses:

"Reasons why I’m committing to the University of Kansas are playing for a Hall of Fame Coach and the best coach in the country," Harris told Rivals.com of Self. "Coach (Jerrance) Howard is the best recruiter in the country and made me feel wanted and let me know he got my back.

"I want to win a National Championship, best tradition in the country, best facilities in the country."

"What I’m going to bring to the floor is defense," said Harris. "Like take charges, and dive on the floor for loose balls, and on the offensive side I’m going to make everyone around me better and set my teammates up for great shots, basically be a playmaker."

@BShark

Love the quotes, thanks for posting. I like this signing and I don't think it stops us one bit from recruiting and getting someone like Love or Thompson.

Any idea when the last time Self had 13 scholarship players eligible? It's been a while

We should also mention KU is back to getting Mokan players. A positive trend from where it was

Jul 17, 2019 01:48 PM #7

@BeddieKU23 15-16? I mean Coleby was taking a RS coming in but I have no doubt now that we see 1-2 RS this year. Can't play 13 guys.

Jul 17, 2019 02:12 PM #8

@BeddieKU23 Did KU ever get MoKan players before the past few years?

Jul 17, 2019 02:13 PM #9

Now all we got to hope for is that he gets his class work finished up and in good standing to where he can re-classify back to 2019 - -which I fully believe he will. -- ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Generally no. Nike program and one of the coaches there was against KU. Off the top of my head I can't recall the last one before Ochai.

With Harris having a higher rating than Mcbide do you think that McBride will RS? Just wondering your guy’s thoughts or options.

Personally I say RS Harris and let McBride play considering he signed and stayed during the midst of all the allegations.

I think they are pretty different players that actually complement each other well.

Don't think either plays much if at all this year but if there is a path to playing time McBride has a better one due to his jumper.

I support a RS for either Harris or McBride... just gives them another year while getting the rare year of practice against Devon.

This is all about getting the most out of Devon. Both of these players help push Devon towards improvements, while both improve at a faster clip by playing against Devon.

The selling point for signing Harris now is his game will advance quicker going a year against Devon in practice over a year at Sunshine Academy. His street cred will shoot up anyways over the immediate future.

I like this line of thinking. If Harris defensive abilities are what the quotes are saying he'll definitely be pushing Devon in practice.

Yeah playing 13 is impossible but I like knowing we have depth and options if we need them. This should ensure we can cover any potential eligibility, grades and injuries as well which have become common every year.

@BeddieKU23 I'm all for filling the roster, for sure.

Jul 17, 2019 08:58 PM #19

Whether we red shirt now or later or never seems to be not super important at this point. I wouldn't mind seeing it be entirely the kids choice. Tell them If we really need you we can pull the Redshirt off at any time like Ochai

Jul 18, 2019 12:50 AM #20

I have no clue how they are going to juggle all these players. They could easily red shirt 2 players and still have a couple guys get almost no minutes. I'd rather have more than less.

The more I see, the more I like.

@BShark WOW!! I'm excited!

4 MOKAN players now... we should become a real team! Not just a bunch of guys thrown together like an All-Star game.

Jul 18, 2019 07:35 PM #25

@drgnslayr generally not an issue for KU under Self anyway.

@drgnslayr Yeah, I'm pretty stoked about the inroads we've made with Mo-Kan myself. That team is loaded every year, and it is quite apparent that we now have a seat at the table.

Jul 21, 2019 01:40 AM #28

@Marco

There has been a major shift in our recruiting direction. A lot of it by force. We've been sort of pushed out of Memphis. The Chicago area is a mixed bag. We've just been getting more competition in some of our usual places. And then there is the NCAA changes in the recruiting calendar which is basically shuffling the deck on some of the established tournaments.

@drgnslayr I'm happy the way it's going now. i think we'll get multi year benefits from this latest crop.

I'm onboard @KUSTEVE ! And having White verbal - and there will be others - verifies that we will still get a few big fish while having plenty of depth. Go Mo-Kan, go!!!
