Lol!
"The Withey" is still on the brat menu at 23rd street brewery ↗. Long live the Withey legend.
And in other Maui-related news, UCLA loses at Pauley by 10 to...Hofstra !
"Conference Of Champions"...right.
Hope with UCLA being down we might be able to steal a player or two from Cali in about 2 or 3 years.
Self about Agbaji - “The biggest thing is he just needs to go out and be Ochai,” Self said. “Just play with a free mind and have fun and not worry about consequences or what happens. Just go out and play. And enjoy it.”
The quick hook is truly dead. But I love it when Bill Self’s words so clearly support a position debated multiple years ago.
@HighEliteMajor I mentioned this elsewhere but I gotta say it again... I am very pleased with this development.
Some will still get a quick hook, but och’s isn’t because of effort. So the hook’s not dead.
How about the "classic quick hook" then -- for simply shooting an ill advised three? I watched in 2016-17 when we gunned some really bad threes. Self just sat there. That's the season it died, in my opinion. In prior seasons, he'd do the flopping around thing, face turning red, head ready to explode. But sure, he'll still go back to momma here and there. When he bought into the three, I think he really bought in.
But I've said a number times here my all-time favorite was the Anrio Adams hook. Adams in. Ball thrown to Adams, one or two bounces, off his foot, out of bounds, back to the bench -- 2.3 seconds. Never to be seen again. A thing of (perverse) beauty.
I think this early in the season with as young as a club as we have, encouragement is the right way to go. Doesn’t mean you never get on a guy but we are fairly young outside of Moss and Doke. SDS is a junior that’s played like 20 games.
Go back to momma?
Just a way of saying reverting to what is one’s typical manner of operation.
@Gorilla72 They’re good. No conceal carry permit required in KS. 😝
I hope Och is ready for action. He seems a bit overwhelmed with Hawaii and I wonder if he will be able to focus on basketball. We've had that issue before with players.
This is a good test for Dot. Can he keep his troops focused on basketball?
I'd love to see the match up with Izzo, but we all know the rest has to fall in place first. And there are no automatics in the enchanted land of Hawaii.
@drgnslayr I think this whole season will be a great test for Dotson. Can he be the leader? Really looking forward to this tourney.
@jayballer73 is that eastern time?

Looks like we should dodge Sparty though VT is going full Memphis at the line.
Edit: Final, VT wins...
Well VT= = Auburn 18-19 ? - -IF again always have to say IF - -we get that far to play in the Championship , probably be a game where we play 4 around 1 - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
Well that sucks for us fans and our SOS

Think I need to bust open a new bottle of Sin Fire take a couple of stiff shots so I can tolerate Walton - -just watch he goes on one of his ramblings and just rambles on an on about anything and everything but the game.
What makes it bad is he sucks the play by play into his insanity and the game is just going on and their talking about everything but the game
DOWN GOES RATSO IZZO!!!!!!!!

Great for me not having to see Izzo's face.
My fears about Och being distracted actually seemed to be the opposite. He's probably been overthinking the game and needed the break to have a fresh start.
At least, I hope this pans out throughout the tourney. And Dot needs to keep establishing himself as the leader of this team.

The problem with Och is that he has always just played while flying way under the radar. But there are now expectations - people talking and him thinking about his being in the NBA - and he is not dealing with them very well.
What he needs to understand is that he is only a sophomore, and needs to just play and work on his game while trying to be a student-athlete and get his degree. If he does that he will be fine and the NBA will be there, if not he might - give him to mid-season - have to come off the bench. He is thinking way too much.
Och is good! He just needs to keep on playing! Dang that dunk on 3 guys!💥
I've been way on record about how I think about Agbaji. Just play him, give it time. He was not a top 50 guy, but will play into that.
He's a stud! Basically a short year under his belt.
