Good job lump!

Dec 30, 2019 08:01 PM #24

West Virginia only moving up to #16 is a bit of a joke. They should be ranked ahead of Michigan St, Michigan, Maryland, and maybe Ohio St.

Dec 30, 2019 08:05 PM #25

@wrwlumpy The game was in Cleveland too, almost a home game for Ohio St. It's like if we played at the Sprint Center in Kansas City.

Dec 30, 2019 08:21 PM #26

I thought I heard, ? Hugs wasn't feeling well either, that game. Just saw bits and pieces.

Dec 30, 2019 08:43 PM #27

@wrwlumpy

There's not much better in life than seeing Ohio St lose in basketball and football in the same weekend. Now if only their baseball, softball, volleyball, rowing, chess, hockey and livestock judging teams had lost as well.....

Dec 30, 2019 08:57 PM #28

These guys are good. Typical WVU team...athletic and physical. But bigger than most of their teams have been. I don't think they have many shooters though.

He never looks like he is feeling well ... always looks like he ate some bad tuna.

Dec 30, 2019 10:19 PM #30

well I have been thinking and they JUST said the same thing on the sports program - -this Saturday truly think that yes we are going to have to play our two big's more then usual

West Virginia is big - -really physical - -two big's that can match up with Doke and Dave - -they still can't shoot worth a dam looks like - -but Culver and company are legit.

still a bunch of hackers but their freshman the 5 star is going to be a load. - One thing about WV - with all their defections last year, guys being kicked off , leaving or whatever. The one thing it did was give some of those other players experience - they took their ass kicking LAST year, I knew Huggie wouldn't be down for long - -they took it last year - -gonna be a challenge for sure - -best be ready. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Not a big ESPN+ fan... For real, who negotiated the television contract, Epic fail.

Jan 02, 2020 03:18 PM #40

Better to have games on ESPN+ than on Time Warner that half of the Metro Area doesn't get.

Jan 02, 2020 04:09 PM #41

Flying over West Virginia you can see how underground coal mining jobs have ended. Cutting off the tops of mountains with dynamite has eliminated the coal miner and ruined the landscape throughout the state. Slag drainage has poisoned many of the pristine streams in the state.

Can't wait for ESPN+ to red screen on me again.

Jan 02, 2020 05:06 PM #44

@BShark Are there any other factors that could be causing you to have ESPN+ problems? I've had them for ......6 months now, maybe longer and have had no problems at all. Seems strange.

Jan 02, 2020 05:07 PM #45

@nuleafjhawk Had been flawless until the last game for me. Wide spread reports of the redscreen issue made me feel slightly better.

Yup the last two deals have been total bullshit. Obviously negotiated by amateurs or someone trying to undermine Kansas. KSU grad AD... πŸ€”

@dylans I feel so bad for my mom! Our love for KU, Chiefs and Royals started w/them! Her and dad never missed a game. No way could she get these games. My sister and fam can't get them on the farm in M L. People in ne ks forget about rural ks.

The internet is absolutely atrocious in rural areas still. Up until maybe two years ago my only options were dial up and sattelite with a joke bandwidth cap. Wouldn't have been able to watch a single game with that cap. And I live only a bit over 10 miles outside of Topeka.

Agreed. Before, almost every big game was on ESPN/ESPN2 or U, CBS, ABC or whatever... Now, almost all are on the shoddy - to say the least - ESPN+. A bigtime money grab, leaving many fans out in the cold. Meanwhile Duke, UNC and UK are still business as usual, being seen by everyone. Nice.

Jan 03, 2020 02:39 AM #50

We've cancelled ESPN+. I may take a stand and not resubscribe. Such BS.

Jan 03, 2020 02:42 AM #51

They can't have their cake and eat it too. If they want to let us have completely a la cart programming where we can get internet for $40/mo and pay for only ESPN+ ($5/mo for only bball season) and in my case MASN ($10/mo for baseball season?) then I'd be totally down. But they won't let us have ESPN+ without having a cable package with FIOS? They can F right off.

Kansas is one of four major basketball powers, is it too much to expect them to have their games televised on cable? I mean, for real, some cheap ass streaming service?

Jan 03, 2020 01:39 PM #53

I have ESPN+ without any kind of cable package so I am somewhat confused here.

Jan 03, 2020 02:32 PM #54

Yeah I purchase the ESPN insider which comes with espn+. Works without cable provider as well

Jan 03, 2020 03:21 PM #55

This is where you blame the Big 12 for not getting their "network" on a sports package somewhere and instead going the internet route for their distribution.

So KU plays 10 games on what is essentially the Big 12 Network. Duke currently has 9 games scheduled on the ACC Network with up to 4 more potentially being on the ACC Network.

North Carolina also has 9 games scheduled for the ACC Network with up to 4 more potentially on their as well.

Kentucky also has 9 games scheduled for the SEC Network along with up to 3 more games potentially on the SEC Network.

I'm guessing that like KU, all of those schools will have 10 regular season games on their conference network. For those without cable and use a streaming service, unless they pay extra for a sports package, they wouldn't be able to watch those games either.

It's really not that different because fans of those 3 schools have to pay extra for the sports package to get either the ACC or SEC Networks. Before this season, those 10 or so games for Duke or UNC were on a regional channel that probably had similar issues to what KU fans complain about if the cable provider didn't have that channel.

That extra 5-6 dollars per month for watch 10 KU games isn't much different than paying a few extra dollars per month for the sports package for the ACC and SEC Network.

Jan 03, 2020 06:49 PM #56

@Texas-Hawk-10 Yeah, but I don’t care how UNC and Duke screw their fans. We used to get every single KU game on basic cable before the last two crap deals were negotiated by morons.

You may have had those games, but not everyone did if you didn't have the correct cable subscription. Because you personally list out on some games with the previous deal, that means it was a bad deal?

Sorry, but I don't blame KU for accepting the deal that makes the most money because KU Athletics is a business at the end of the day with a goal of making as much money as possible.

With the current deal, that's determined by the Big 12 and ESPN on where the games are broadcast, not KU so at least put blame in the correct spot.

Jan 03, 2020 07:54 PM #59

Huh - - guess you learn something everyday. - Was scoping out the West Virginia boards ,a nd of course you had some making statements you know like - - oh well KU can't shoot worth a dam.

I was thinking to myself really ? - - umm wrong , but then anyways some replied back saying - -They Can't shoot ?- - saying umm KU ranks 3rd in the Nation at 51 %

Here is the thing that I didn't know is - - -I guess KU shoots 3 % better over the National Average on 3 pt shooting which the National Average is 36 % this was brought out by a WV poster - - I didn't realize that. - -Another poster said good thing we have really good perimeter defense holding opponents to 25 % on 3 pt shooting.

Yet is that right were 3 % over the National Average? - Well good for us

Jan 04, 2020 04:48 AM #60

@Texas-Hawk-10 πŸ‘Œ You are correct as always! I should not be able to watch all the KU games (as in the past) as a resident of Kansas. It’s way too much to ask the AD who is negotiating the deal with ESPN to consider how local eyeballs are affected. πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

Jan 04, 2020 12:52 PM #61

Ku is a 9.5 point favorite. That seems like a lot to me.

Jan 04, 2020 01:35 PM #62

@Woodrow Agree. It does appear to be a lot. But it appears that we are maybe a bad matchup for them. We can compete with them inside and they, in theory, can't exploit our weakness....which is our 3 pt shooting defense. Then of course, there is the Phog factor.

Jan 04, 2020 02:30 PM #64

@BShark My point is that it's ESPN+ which has to be paid for separately and hardly no one has. They negotiated a terrible deal.

it might be our weakness possibly BUT and I didn't realize till yesterday either - -but actually we are shooting the 3 at a 3 % higher then the National average for the 3 ? - - so we compare pretty reasonable to everybody else

The line is KU by 10. So, KU 75, WV 65? Whatcha betting out there?

Jan 04, 2020 05:41 PM #68

@BShark yes that’s the Vegas line. Not sure on KP

Jan 04, 2020 05:54 PM #69

I don't think I'd bet on KU to cover that kind of spread. I'm thinking this will be a slugfest.

Jan 04, 2020 06:00 PM #70

@BShark Dok and Dotson haven't played well since Dayton.

Jan 04, 2020 06:05 PM #71

@stoptheflop I think Doke was fine against Stanford. They aggressively denied him the ball + hacked the crap out of him and he still rebounded and screened hard.

Dotson I have been wondering about.

Jan 04, 2020 08:40 PM #72

Tshiebwe leads them in scoring and rebounding. - - 11.8 & 8.8 rebounds - - Culver 11.0 & 9.4 rebounds - gonna be a war inside. Doke has just got to stay out of foul trouble.

Their fans already talking about how their two bigs will be on the bench with 3 fouls each by the 1st tv timeout - because of our favoritism by the refs talking about how they always have to play5-8.

They don't shoot well 43.8 fg - - & 66.7 ft's - - and only 31.9 from the 3. - -turn the ball over almost identical to us - -turning it over 14.4 per game.

Think it's all gonna be decided inside. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Jan 04, 2020 08:49 PM #73

@jayballer73 as if wvu won't be hacking away every time down low. They are crazy.

Jan 06, 2020 09:27 PM #74

Another spin on last Saturdays game with WV. - Sports talk said , and let's look at it like this guys.

If you were to tell me before the game Saturday that Ku would only make 3 - - - 3 point shots , and get out rebounded by 14 & right at the same amount of turnovers as West Virginia and we would win - -Like they said give me some of what your drinking , cause would think their would be no way.

BUT they was talking about this KU defense, Talking about you give up 53 points and Bill Self had to love it - we all know how you have to be able to play defense for Bill or you don't play - -or at least a lot.

Marcus has become a lock down defender, this defense is going to carry us along ways. - - -Like they said offensively maybe not a jaugernot - -but on the defensive end. - -Just think if this team ever puts together a complete 40 minute game - - LOOK OUT. - - If we can just cut down on the TO'S some and get back to shooting the 3 some better - - LOOK OUT this defense is Legit
