😭

Did not attend shoot around.

Team struggled scoring with him. Cant imagine what 40 minutes looks like without.

Guess I'll hope for the best but this doesn't look good at all

thank GOD it's Oklahoma

Jan 14, 2020 11:03 PM #4

Was hopping on to post this. Not great, but it will probably do him some good.

Jan 14, 2020 11:14 PM #5

@jayballer73 Could probably win the next 3 games without Dot.

Jan 14, 2020 11:26 PM #6

@BShark

I honestly would be surprised but let's see how this one goes. Obviously someone tonight is going to have a career night if we have a chance

Jan 14, 2020 11:40 PM #7

I don't like this quote at all from yesterday. Clearly full of cr*p if Dotson doesn't play, but I don't like it because it really places Dotson in a tough position.

“It’s a hip pointer,” Self reiterated. “So it’s going to be sore regardless. But it’s not one of those things that’s threatening to make it where you can’t play. But certainly, whenever you get it hit, it can make it uncomfortable where you’re thinking about it all the time. So he’s going to have to be mentally tough to get through that, but he can do that.”

Jan 14, 2020 11:42 PM #8

KU also cut Baylor's lead to 5 over the first few minutes of the second half with Dotson on the bench and Garrett running point and Baylor extended back out to double digits after Dotson came back in.

Jan 14, 2020 11:54 PM #9

lots of media talk going on that - - -MORE then a hip pointer

Jan 14, 2020 11:54 PM #10

We’ll be fine without him in this one, interesting that they wait this long to announce.

wouldn't put a lot into anything yet myself. - Just came across on the local sports program I was listening to out of Topeka , talking about how there seems to be a lot of talk in the media. - - Thing is though they didn't come out and say WHAT it would be if it was.

Somebody mentioned yesterday I believe that there was talk about it being more , they mentioned what it was then but I can't remember where I read it at.

i'm not real worried - - - -YET - - I know I can't spell this right , hell I'm not even sure what it is but something about Lbyum tear - I'm sorry again I know it's not spelt right

Labrum

Jan 15, 2020 12:20 AM #15

Surgery

Jan 15, 2020 12:20 AM #16

The labrum is in your shoulder so that seems very unlikely

Jan 15, 2020 12:20 AM #17

@BShark hip too

Jan 15, 2020 12:21 AM #18

Is the labrum tear confirmed?

Jan 15, 2020 12:22 AM #19

Had a friend that had a chiefs surgeon do his, both hips. Golf! I don’t know, would have to do mri. My boys had labral tears in shoulders-fb.

Jan 15, 2020 12:24 AM #20

Seems an odd spot where he was hurting for a labral tear. More hip pointer to me.

Jan 15, 2020 12:25 AM #21

More socket area, I think, like shoulder. ??

Jan 15, 2020 12:26 AM #22

@Crimsonorblue22 agree

Jan 15, 2020 12:27 AM #23

I’m doing pt for hip pointer now, hurts in that area.

Jan 15, 2020 01:03 AM #24

@Crimsonorblue22 Right - You can get that tear from impact. It’s just really flexible rubber-like cartilage in the socket. I heard it explained one time but have never known anyone personally that had that tear and have no idea on recovery time, etc.

I agree. The way he was holding his outer hip, it didn't look like where a labrum tear would cause pain. I went back and watched his mini-dunk and he seemed to have hurt or aggravated it on that. IMO. My initials are DR, but I'm not a doctor. Got hip slammed several times before that dunk trying to go around screens, so some prior contact also might have been the cause. He definitely felt it on that dunk though.

Jan 15, 2020 01:27 AM #27

@DanR

According to the tape from the coaches they said he hurt it on a screen. I'll have to take a look at that dunk

Jan 15, 2020 01:44 AM #28

After what happened with people questioning Doke's toughness last year before we knew it was the same injury as his freshman year, I'm not going to speculate on Dotson's toughness and severity of his hip injury right now because it may end up being much more severe than a standard hip pointer.

Jan 15, 2020 01:51 AM #29

@BeddieKU23 it won’t be easy for sure

Jan 15, 2020 01:58 AM #30

Labral tear is more wear and tear like a golf swing. But I’m going by my friends injury

Jan 15, 2020 02:14 AM #31

Wait... who is saying he needs surgery?? That hasn’t been reported anywhere.

Jan 15, 2020 02:19 AM #32

@Woodrow if it's a labral tear, as far as we know, it's not.

Can be both -

@HighEliteMajor eww, thinking about mine.

Jan 15, 2020 04:53 AM #35

@Woodrow people are just jumping to conclusions without any basis.

Jan 15, 2020 05:31 AM #36

Wonder if they've done an mri on his hip?

Jan 15, 2020 05:41 AM #37

Hot rumor is he’s out until February but just a rumor until something more concrete comes out

Jan 15, 2020 05:49 AM #38

@FarmerJayhawk I don't know how they would know, hard to tell w/hip pointer.

Ouch, at least the rumor isn't shutting it down to protect draft prospects.

Jan 15, 2020 01:31 PM #40

If he is out until Feb at least this is a soft part of the schedule. Texas, KSU, Tenn, Okie Lite.

Good point. Was looking at the slate coming up and if they think resting him during this part of the schedule could save his season at least there are no games we wouldn't be favored/expected to win (except our yearly dump in Stillwater of course)

Jan 15, 2020 02:26 PM #42

This team is no good unless Dotson is healthy. If he needs rest to be healthy in March he’d better get plenty of rest. The games don’t matter much now.

Jan 15, 2020 04:47 PM #43

I think Dotson being out for a few games could end up being a positive long-term. It's going to force guys to step up that otherwise wouldn't have. If Ochai, Moss and Garrett all gain some confidence with him out of the lineup, look out.

Sort of like the Chiefs having to find a way to win without Mahomes for a few games. The defense figured out some things about themselves during that stretch and when Pat got back we went on a tear.

Hopefully this is a similar effect. We have to find a way to generate offense from the other guard positions. And you can't bank on Moss hitting 6 threes every night, but it was good to see. Garrett going for 15 and literally blowing by whoever he wanted to was impressive. But to really have a shot to win it all we still need to get Ochai going some way some how.

Jan 15, 2020 05:17 PM #44

Maybe moss needs to start to get in his rhythm? Do it! Need pts!

Jan 17, 2020 02:12 PM #45

Definitely bad news. Not trying to be a downer but Dotson has struggled all year, and the injury might well amplify those struggles (i.e. trying to do too much when he does come back) and hurt team chemistry. I hope I'm wrong.

Jan 17, 2020 02:14 PM #46

@Marco

I'd hate to see Dotson actually "struggling".

Jan 17, 2020 02:54 PM #47

Me when I see people hating on Dotson:

Jan 17, 2020 08:42 PM #48

@Kcmatt7

I think it is a positive to rest Devon right now and make the team go it alone.

These guys need pressure to step up. Who will it be?

This change forces everyone out of their comfort zones and we should become a tougher team because of it.

Devon should become better by sitting on the bench and watching a few games, taking mental notes on how he must adapt to make us a better team.

Our coaches need to be pushed to discover new sets, plays and how to score the ball and put more points on the board.

And I was getting worried everyone was starting to believe we are such a monster defensive team! We are not! I think we all get excited to finally see any of our guys play a little defense for a change!

Give us a game where our defense hustles as much as Nova or Baylor and we will flat out "pancake" our opponent! Note: "defense" also means sealing boards and diving for 50/50 balls.

Jan 17, 2020 09:23 PM #49

Anybody know when och hurt his back, what play? I didn't notice.

Jan 17, 2020 09:25 PM #50

Our D will probably suffer now w/dot avoiding contact, och's back and marcus's ankles. I was 🙏 about dokes hand on that block before half.🤬

Jan 17, 2020 09:27 PM #51

@Crimsonorblue22

They said first 3 minutes of the game. Not sure if mentioned on what play
