300 consecutive sellouts
Jan 26, 2020 12:45 AM #1

Dear Jayhawks,

When I was hired in 2003, part of my message was, “Those places are great, but there's no place like Kansas.” We have been able to accomplish a lot of great things here, but what puts all of it over the top is the support from the Kansas fan base.

Earlier today vs. Tennessee, we celebrated our 300th-consecutive sellout at Allen Fieldhouse. 300! We are so fortunate to have the best fans in the country that come out and support us no matter the time, no matter the weather. I’ve lost count on how many times your impact has been felt by the opposing team throughout my time here, actually, it’s been 271 times. That would be every-single home game that I’ve been the head coach here at KU. It’s simply an amazing accomplishment and all of the credit goes to you.

Here are just a few things that have happened during this streak:

4.89 million: Total number of fans that have attended the games at Allen Fieldhouse
6,626: Number of days since the streak started
285-15: Overall record at Allen Fieldhouse during the streak
130.4: Decibels inside AFH on Feb. 13, 2017 vs. West Virginia, setting a new world record for loudest crowd at an indoor sports arena
69: Consecutive games won at AFH from 2/7/07-1/22/11, a KU and Big 12 record
67: Kansas All-Big 12 selections
27: NBA Draft selections from Kansas
16: Big 12 regular-season titles, including an NCAA-record 14 straight from 2005-18
15: Kansas Consensus All-Americans
8: Undefeated seasons in Allen Fieldhouse
7: Big 12 Player of the Year selections from KU (Gooden, Collison, Simien, Marcus Morris, Robinson, Mason, Graham)
There have been so many memories made during this streak of 300-consecutive sellouts and only you can help by keeping it going for years to come. I cannot thank you enough for how you have helped each of our teams and the impact you have had on the outcome of so many games. Our opponents can feel it when the roar rises to the rafters of Allen Fieldhouse. I still get chills every time I walk onto the court and hear chants of Rock Chalk.

Thanks for making Allen Fieldhouse the best home court advantage in basketball!

I am not in any way, shape or form advocating for the removal of Coach Self - want him to be here for as long as he coaches (hopefully 30 years). I do, however, advocate for De Sousa to be kicked off the team.

When did it start? I know I could get out a calculator but maybe you know off the top of your head.

People just need to read what Coach Self had to say about Silvio. - -But I'm sure they will be glad you gave coach Self's E-mail lmao -- - Hope they have a please don't block me button lol

@Marco I personally would prefer not having him on the team. Its a two part deal for me — Adidas and the brawl. But I can really see the other side of this and appreciate Self’s (and others’) loyalty to him.

Silvio and Self have a tremendous relationship. I really believe it’s more father/son than coach/player. https://www.kansascity.com/sports/college/big-12/university-of-kansas/article239591828.html ↗

@Wissox 271 games for Bill 29 for Roy in the current steak so about 1.5 years prior to Self’s arrival. (2001, as stated above, I believe is correct)

Hopefully Self reminded our guys of how lucky they are. There are few schools that can pull off this feat. I watch a ton CBB games and even in our conference the places are half full it seems when we aren’t in them.

Pretty sure that's a big reason why they choose Kansas!

I can see the loyalty too, and also the potentially life-threatening chair.

Nice.... It is a tragedy what happened to Kobe, his daughter and the others, but is it really necessary for - not a pro game mind you, and no pro game will be - a college game to be preempted so that we can all sit around and be sad for two hours after being inundated with the news for the past two days?

800-114 good for just over 87% in a 65 year old building. Pretty amazing
