Grady Dick looks like a carbon copy of Braun too. We are going got get this show at least 4 more years.

I've heard better version of CB at this stage.

Yesufu not going to get in here the first half. Even with no Bobby.

HATE THIS

Border War Game Thread β€’ Dec 11, 2021 08:35 PM

Hate playing him along with Dave and Remy. Makes our D bad and takes away from what strengths JWill does have on offense.

Why is Jalen in if he's not going to do anything?

It's so mental with him.

Mizzou is 3-4 from deep and can't hang.

The defense went to shit with Dajuan out and Remy + JWill in? I AM SHOCKED.

CB laughed at that foul call which bailed out Missouri. He is talking so much shit.

I'm too old for this shit. I will watch replays sometimes but obviously it is hard to avoid spoilers.

Yeah Washington should probably just cancel their season.

Going to get real easy for KU from here on.. β€’ Dec 11, 2021 06:54 PM

Would not expect to land Mintz at all.

@Kcmatt7 said in Going to get real easy for KU from here on..:

Recruiting is right where it needs to be. We are getting several high-end multi-year guys every year from here on. We have to improve our unofficial NIL program, but I’m happy with not having to find hidden gems.

Bill is going to get another Natty before he goes if he can keep recruiting like he did the 2022 class.

2020 was a disaster and w/o the NCAA crap I am like 95% sure we have Kendall Brown and Baylor has KJ Adams. Last 2 classes have been good though, back on track.

If we get Mintz I will go off. Not because of Mintz as a player particularly, but getting a Dwayne Wise player would mean we are all the way back.

Dave β€’ Dec 11, 2021 04:28 PM

Ankle injury, will still play today.

@Kcmatt7 said in 2022 Recruiting Thread:

@BShark If Rice comes and Braun stays you really only have 30 minutes from the bench. Bobby & Grady are going to eat up a good chunk of those minutes.

I think Bill would still want to start two small guards. Rice is closer to a 4 than a 2 is what I heard.

Non-KU Games β€’ Dec 09, 2021 03:00 AM

@KirkIsMyHinrich Never count out a team playing against a Shaka coached squad.

2022 Recruiting Thread β€’ Dec 09, 2021 02:58 AM

@Kcmatt7 I'm wondering how he wouldn't get minutes next year. A year in the system and Remy's minutes become available. If we are looking at 80 minutes between Harris/Bobby/Yesufu I think he would get 20+. Of course if the staff were to add another guard all bets are off. And they might look into it because scoring would be an issue with that group.

ETA: Och's minutes become available too. A lot of PT to grab next year.

2022 Recruiting Thread β€’ Dec 08, 2021 10:41 PM

@FarmerJayhawk said in 2022 Recruiting Thread:

Yesufu after this year is 3x2 since he hasn't used his redshirt year yet. But I don't think he's going anywhere. If it's me, I'm going Pettiford Yesufu Braun Rice Udeh/Clemence. I don't think Gradey will be quite ready to guard at KU level yet. Yesufu is almost there now.

Yeah I like Gradey but in my scenario he is a bench piece. I'd rather start Bobby and Yesufu but Bill.

2022 Recruiting Thread β€’ Dec 08, 2021 07:29 PM

@Kcmatt7 said in 2022 Recruiting Thread:

I just don't see Yesufu really cracking the rotation for big minutes next year either. This is his 3rd season in D1 CBB and he's getting beat for minutes by Pettiford. Harris has more eligibility left than Yesufu too. There is no way for Yesufu to start at KU the way it looks today.

Why would he stay?

Idk, he'd be in the rotation of 3 guys for 2 spots most likely. He's already better albeit slightly offensively than Harris and I think his defense will really get there.

2022 Recruiting Thread β€’ Dec 08, 2021 07:24 PM

@BeddieKU23 yeah he is an EJ level athlete just no skills right now.

2022 Recruiting Thread β€’ Dec 08, 2021 07:16 PM

@BeddieKU23 the only reason I could really see Cuffe transferring is if he doesn't want to have 2 full years not really playing at all. Though I think he would have to take a step down to see pt, coaches will sell him on playing even if he wouldn't.

2022 Recruiting Thread β€’ Dec 08, 2021 05:59 PM

I think Jalen is gone one way or another. Either he improves and tries to get drafted or continues to be bad and transfers. He has been close to leaving every off-season, really hard to see him back again.

Barring any high impact additions...

Guard rotation: Dajuan, Bobby, Yesufu (Cuffe is still a year away, I think he can be good due to his athletic ability but basketball wise he is last on the depth chart right now. Hard to keep players while not playing them 2 years in this day and age. Would love to see him be a developmental success story at KU tho)

Wing rotation: CB, Rice, Dick (if Rice doesn't show up, I would imagine this spot is filled by a transfer)

Big rotation: Zach, Zuby, Udeh

I'm a Zuby truther. I loved the offer when it happened, didn't even think we could land him. Great athlete, good size, fluid movement, offensive skill set improving. Udeh is similar to Udoka/KJ in that he has no real skill set to speak of offensively but his advantages and path to playing time are due to him being 4-5'' taller than KJ and a guy that can eat up shots at the rim.

@Kcmatt7 FWIW, I have heard Cuffe and KJ would be the candidates if space is needed. They like Yesefu and he has bought in and at least tries on defense (unlike a certain someone). The more likely thing than needing room is guys deciding to leave on their own. If what I posted ends up being the 9 man rotation more or less that is a pretty good team that will get most of it's scoring from the wings and starting center (Zach). The main worry is we would likely be playing 2 guards a lot, with none of them really being scorers yet (maybe Bobby or Yes come a long a bit in that regard).

2022 Recruiting Thread β€’ Dec 08, 2021 05:38 PM

@Kcmatt7 don't pen in Rice yet. If he ends up at KU, then he should start.

UTEP Game Thread β€’ Dec 08, 2021 05:38 PM

CB is a driver first, shooter as a byproduct of guys leaving him open. That's been his game, including high school.

Got to sharpen up our shooting too. 53 percent from the field tonight, but a lot of those were dunks.

Yeah, not a great performance from 3 but had good looks. Funny how it works, one of Ochai's that went in was tightly contested.

@DanR said in UTEP Game Thread:

Not sure if that game helped anything in the long run

Definitely didn't really do anything for the team. Absolutely killed them when they wanted to. Our good players are good, mixed bag from Jalen, Remy, Yes. Hopefully Dave isn't hurt too badly.

UTEP Game Thread β€’ Dec 08, 2021 02:16 AM

UTEP 15% from three, KU 21% from 3. Tight rims? lol

UTEP Game Thread β€’ Dec 08, 2021 02:14 AM

The turnovers are a product of UTEP's high risk defense.

four starters out there and we're playing like walk ons

Yeah, it's somewhat hard to stay completely engaged when the other team is this bad. This game has been over for awhile. Could probably play all bench players and mix walk-ons in there in the 2nd half.
