They have two 6'-8" players that play regularly and one 6'-10" that does not play much. KU should have a big advantage inside andit could be a good game for Diallo to get extended minutes.
Unfortunately, no men's volleyball team at KU...blame it on Title IX.
Coleby had to sit one year anyway so, even if healthy, he would not be playing.
IMHO, BG's main problem is between the ears.
Only a tiny minority of Coach Self's salary is paid by the school; the bulk of the money comes from the Kansas Athletics, Incorporated and Subsidiary, a private corporation that runs the athletic programs at KU.
The attendance for the game is listed as 5,475 at the 11,560 Noble Arena, or less than half full; any way you see it is pretty embarrassing.
Congrats Lady Jayhawks for a well earned victory and a trip to the Final Four...hopefully the basketball team can match the feat and make us even happier fans. :) :) :)
They beat Loyola and USC in their own backyard in San Diego and now they get to play Nebraska in Omaha and hopefully a final rematch with Texas for all the marbles...the third one is a charm...
Kansas is locked in its contract with Adidas until 2019. I believe Coach Self also gets money direct;y from them; I know he also gets royalties from all sports gear sold at certain times of the year when he conducts his camps. Considering that KU is basically a "one sport" school, since the football teams had been so bad lately, the contract with Adidas is huge.
Somebody must have told the team about the basketball team comeback...what a way to come back in the third set!!!
If KU advances they will be playing the host team...again. Of course if they advance they will have had lots of practice having beat local teams Loyola and USC...keeping fingers crossed. :)
Good night everybody...hopefully not too much diatribe tomorrow. :) :) :)
better yet...if you can't fix it, don't break it...
If it ain't broke...don't fix it...
54 point second half...I LIKE IT!!!
that is a BS foul...
46-22 in the second half so far...
Game is back to being fun...
so....this is how they get a time out...
Regression to the mean...
No time outs for Oregon, game will go fast.
Nope, the ref was... :)
That was a charge...
The half time tune up worked...hitting on all cylinders now...
Oregon out of time outs...
WOOHOO!!!
HOW SWEET IT IS!!!
some defense would come handy...
No. KU has the horses to come back...whether they will do it, I don't know...
Can Coach Self re-instate Greene's suspension?
KU is just making Oregon look good...
Other than Selden...nothing much...
Guard Tinkle!!!!!!!!!!!
Here come the Hawks!!!
Th original 3-point line was introduced in the 1986-1987 season at 19'-9" and in 207 it was extended to 20'-9".
Lot of empty seat the OU-Oral Roberts game; the end zones were almost empty...and OU is a top 6 team...go figure.
14 minutes, 2-6 from the filed, 1-4 from the 3 and 0-2 FT. Not quite the shooting I would expect but it is only his second game.
Thanks for the link; he looks impressive!!!
if you are going to "quote" me at least mention me personally.
Everybody that read my post got the jest of the "hate" comment, although after reading your comments it is hard to think you don't really hate the individuals mentioned because your comments, as I mentioned before, seem to be more visceral and personal than objective and pragmatic.
The problem that I and many other posters have, if personal messages I receive and other posts are to be believed, is that your opinion is always stated as a proven fact and everybody else's does not count,...or is uninformed... or just plain ignorant,. with gems like the one you just posted...
That poster lacks all objectivity because he does not feel like he has the knowledge to criticize or second guess Bill Self. Quite the opposite, I do feel that I have the knowledge to criticize Bill Self. That bothers him – and it bothers him that he can’t refute me with much more that “Bill Self says so.”
See what I mean?
It is not that I or other posters don't have the knowledge, only that we accept that we have other careers and fields of expertise and Coach Self is the the top of his profession, we accept it and defer to him...obviously this does not apply to you because you know so much more than he does. It must really chap your hide that he gets the accolades and the big bucks while you toil in obscurity trying to show the world he is doing it all wrong...while he laughs all the way to the bank and the many awards he has collected and will continue to collect.
Often is not what you say but the way you say that turns people off and in the process your message gets lost.
You constantly harp on Coach Self, Anyone that reads your comments and is not familiar with his record would get the impression that Coach Self is an incompetent coach that can barely win and the program has been a complete failure under him. There is no question in my mind...and most other posters as well...that you honestly believe that you know more than Coach Self does and would be a much better coach at KU than he is; I have news for you...you are not.. Even on the rare occasion when you have said something positive about him you comment was more along the lines of...he did OK for some one that is clueless...frankly, it gets old, boring and annoying...
You go to extremes to take portions of games to analyze in minute detail to try to prove your point that Lucas and Traylor should not be even part of the program. You have said in the past that Traylor has no business playing Division I basketball...and yet he starts for the #2 ranked program in the country while you stew in front of your computer trying to convince the world...or this forum ...that he is not worthy. If you run the same analysis for any other player in the team or any other Division I team, you could come up with the same result..
For example, do you know who are the leading rebounder on the team?
Well... the leading rebounder is Lucas with 6.5 RPG in 15.2 mpg, Perry is second with 5.5 RPG in 25.5 mpg.
Now, do you know ho the third leading rebounder is? Would it surprise you to know that, Traylor, the player that you think should not be even playing division I basketball is the third leading rebounder on the team with 4.7 RPG in 17.7 mpg? Of course you would never mention this because it does not fit your narrative...and we all know that you are always right and the rest of us are always wrong...oh well.
Again, I could go on...but why? You just don't get and likely never will which is really to bad, because outside basketball we seem to agree in a lot of other, much more important subjects...again...oh well.
Apologies in advance for wasting the member time and bandwidth on something that is unpleasant all around. Time to watch KU on the big screen since the game is not blacked out for a change.
The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated - The KU Basketball Program
This computer is bad luck...I need to go watch on a different computer :(
At least it is not blacked out for a change...
I was finally able to link it from the KU web site....
Hopefully this link ↗ will work...
The three is no gimmick offense weapon. Used properly and there is no defense.
However, when the shots are not falling you have to do something else or else you are doomed. Look at UK at UCLA, the outside shot was not working and they dug themselves an early grave....or ISU against Iowa...if you don't count Thomas Matt...Thomas who? who went 6-9 from 3, the rest of the team shot 3-21 from the 3. In the second half the team shot 4-17 from 3 and got much better result going inside....and ISU is a good 3 point shooting team.
If we lose Mason or Graham, Vick will have to come up to speed super quickly, something that is hard to expect from green rookie that is not expected t produce big the first year. He is more likely to be ready on year 2 or 3 rather than this year.
This team is built for busting zones...
It has been done before...
THREE-POINT FIELD-GOAL PERCENTAGE
(Min. 100 made) 50.8%—Indiana, 1987 (130 of 256)
(Min. 150 made) 50.0%—Mississippi Val., 1987 (161 of 322)
(Min. 200 made) 49.2%—Princeton, 1988 (211 of 429)
The incentive in Huggy's contract always gets WVU ready for KU. Baylor is also going to be tough.
The wheels really came off for Iowa in the last few minutes of the game when they could not buy a basket.
Got to give credit to ISU for coming back from 20 down in the second half and win the game. Iowa was successful doing the same thing UCLA force UK to do, take kick shot from outside. Once ISU started to slow down and go inside, they were a lot more successful than they were shooting quick 3s.
I was not answering your post specifically, simply mentioning he is second in scoring and minutes played. As far as being the cat's mew...I wouldn't know about that. :)
