Memphis’ court should be illegal
1-8 starting out. Probably should have hit 7 of them
Omg guys.
It does seem like it may be a free year of eligibility for guys, and automatically waived sitting out transferring for a year?
I can’t imagine how much poaching will happen here. At the same time, we really, really should take advantage if I’m reading this right.
@BeddieKU23 yes this team is likes to make things look hard for sure...
Watch this be the season Bill makes a run we have no business making. Get it all figured out in February.
Sounds like Bryce will be back within two weeks or so. Could be the spark this team needs, who knows.
@BeddieKU23 Bama could beat anyone in the country or lose to anyone any given night. I do like Nate Oats a lot. Guy to keep an eye on.
@BeddieKU23 they got to see the ball go in a bit the other night. I think it sparks us.
If the guards can play like they did the first 8 games and Dave can play like he has the last 5 or 6 then this team can get it together.
It’s a simple game. Put the ball in the basket.
ISU will not go away today.
Mizzou hammering Bama is the surprise of the day.
We’re getting a dub today
@BeddieKU23 Watch some Mikai Klintman tape. Looks more explosive than his brother. Really think the staff is playing the long game with this one...
Shooting form looks good. From what I looked at, not what I'd consider an above the rim guy or super explosive athlete. But I wouldn't turn my nose up. Good dexterity with both hands.
Has a younger brother Mikai may be the real target...
@BShark Yea I'm sort of glad we didn't have to watch four years of him.
@BShark Grimes has a fg% of .379 lol. Launching 14 shots a game.
Houston loses to a god awful ECU team
Gotta win Saturday to stay ranked
Lance just needs to do a podcast lol. Like get it all out before you announce a game dude
@BeddieKU23 “Marcus, what’s the name of your imaginary friend?”
I love when former players say stuff like that 😂
Hope this gets us our mojo back
Sigh. Three consecutive steals. 2 points
UNC going down again
We have up 80 points to this team 🙃
Baylor is still good.
We’ve missed threes dudes at the Y would hit better than 30% today... should be a 15 point lead
Been awhile since I’ve seen a player get such a long leash
Wilson has basically three turnovers in a row and Enaruna is the one who comes out 🤔
This is that lull that against a good team we’d let up a 12-0 run
Full on yips. Wilson is unplayable rn
Jalen, bro
At least CB and Wilson can get some in game practice. Both are so off.
How is CB not better at finishing when he can get up like that?
Offense looks like it is a bit different. More motion vs weave?
What has Kevin Keatts done to keep his job?
Is it time for Jim Larranaga to retire?
Isaiah Wong is putting up 17 a game and grabbing 5.5 rebounds.... Mostly from 2 and the FT line. Maybe something this team could use.
What does Arizona State do with Bobby Hurley? He had the horses this year and just absolutely flopped. Really hasn't done much despite having plenty of talent to win there.
Does Marcus Bagley play himself out of the first round the rest of the season? If so, does he go? If he doesn't, with immediate eligibility you'd think he would be a hot commodity. But i'd also look at Alonzo Verge or Josh Christopher on that team.
Is the Mike Hopkins experiment at Washington over?
Is Quade Green worth looking at if so?
I'd be curious what South Carolina is thinking with Frank Martin.... Outside of the fluke run, he really hasn't done much. Was better at KSU honestly.
Nobody really you'd want off of that roster though.
Penn State situation is one to monitor. Jim Ferry will likely be replaced as he is only the interim head coach. Myreon Jones is putting up 16 ppg and shooting .440 from three on six attempts per game.
I'm just going to throw this out there. I did not include any seniors, as I don't really know if there is an extra year of eligibility for guys or not and I'm too lazy to try to figure that out. So this is all Juniors or younger.
- Mike Brey - Notre Dame
I think it is probably time for Notre Dame to move on. This will be the fourth consecutive season ND missed the tournament. Not a single recruit in the top 100 coming to Notre Dame. Brey is 61 years old, and while some guys have been successful well past that age, I think it would benefit ND to bring in some fresh blood.
Nate Laszewski is their leading scorer and a Junior. He is putting up 15 and 8 and just absolutely lighting it up. Shooting .519 on 3.5 threes per game and .637 from the field on 8 shots a game.
Of course I'm sure that it is tough to poach guys from prestigious schools like ND, but still worth keeping an eye on.
- Jim Christian - Boston College
One winning season in seven years. It seems inevitable.
I honestly am not sure there is a poachable player on this team. CJ Felder I would take a look at, but everyone else is a hard pass. Felder is a 6'7 forward, explosive athlete, and seems pretty coordinated. Putting up 10 ppg, 6 rbds, and two blocks while shooting .700 from 2pt range (and a respectable .360 from 3). If I'm being honest, he seems like Bill Self would drool over him if he became available.
- Dave Leitao - Depaul
125-139 as of today at Depaul. Dead last in the Big East this season.
I would not touch anyone on this roster with a 10-foot pole. Charlie Moore is the leading scorer as many here are aware. That should tell you all you need to know.
- Tim Jankovich - SMU
He may live to see another season. But he inherited a good situation and hasn't done much with it.
Kendric Davis is scoring 17, assisting 7.5, getting 1.5 steals a game and notching 4 rbds. Former TCU player has carved out a role at SMU. He is 5'11, but despite that he has been able to finish over .500 from 2pt range the last two seasons. He's above .300 from three, but not his strong suit. I'd take him in a heart-beat. But that is all that really intrigues me on that roster.
- Josh Pastner - GT
I don't know how Pastner kept his job this long tbh. Overdue to go.
Michael Devoe is a high volume 40%+ shooter from three. Scoring 16 ppg last year and 13 ppg this season. Instant offense.
- Richard Pitino - Minnesota
He's been on the hot seat for years. I don't know who Minnesota thinks they can get to replace him, but the rumor is out there.
Not sure anyone on this roster really gives me the warm fuzzies. Just a wildly inefficient bunch.
- Mark Turgeon - Maryland
I'd have moved on from Marky Mark years ago. They were good last year, but then immediately nose-dived this year. I think it would probably be good to get some fresh blood in.
There might be a few guys, but really the gem would be Donta Scott. 13 and 7 forward that is shooting .470 from three on 4 attempts a game. Also an above the rim athlete. Absolutely 100% would take.
- Archie Miller - Indiana
IU basketball is just in a sorry state of affairs. And nothing that Archie has done in his time there is land Romeo Langford. He may get another year. He may get two. He may get the COVID pass. But he hasn't done much to inspire is all I'm saying.
Trayce Jackson-Davis is good. Would take. 20 ppg (54% fg) , 9 rbds, 2 blocks. Yes please. Armaan Franklin is shooting .455 from 3 on 4 attempts a game, which is obviously always intriguing.
Please add to this list and also obviously criticize it.
@BeddieKU23 said in Worst KU Team Since?:
Selfs comments about the defense after the game paint a bleak picture. He's realizing they are limited
I just can’t see Bill rolling with the current roster projected for 2021-2022. At this point my only question is how many guys end up being shown the door.
I’d set the over under at 3. And I’d probably take the over.
I really only think this team is marginally better with Silvio. Unless I'm remembering Silvio wrong, there is a reason he was only getting a few minutes per game...
I honestly can't believe how bad of a year it has been given how much we returned from last year.
Seems to me Bill put a lot of eggs in the "Dave can be an 18 and 10 guy" basket and that just didn't pan out. And there was no plan B. But the reality is this team just cannot shoot the damn ball. Braun has gotten super soft. Wilson's stroke is gone. Garrett and Harris are Garrett and Harris.
They don't have a Moss or BG off the bench who can come in and provide a spark with a couple of set plays. They don't have a PG who can force the action a bit. They don't have a big man who they can throw the ball into and get buckets in a grind it out game.
This team is like playing chess with only pawns and knights. They have no pieces that allow them to attack any differently. Just the same thing over and over and if it doesn't work, well it is going to be ugly.
This is officially Bills worst team. And I’m not even sure it’s all that close.
13 role players. And not a single guy who can get to the rim consistently off the bounce.
@Kcmatt7 WOW. Or not
This is a weird SEC/B12 challenge. TCU may upset Mizzou and Tech gonna lose to a terrible LSU team
@BeddieKU23 My thoughts too
@BShark There is definitely a wall here.
I think it is sort of a culmination of things.
First - Bill has gone back to making sure Mitch or Dave are in the game at the 5 for a full 40 minutes. Which suuuuucks. But that also means Wilson is being guarded by a better matchup AND he isn't able to drive without the C helping off of Mitch/Dave to block his shot. So instead of passing out of it, he is going for the high off the backboard layup and he hasn't adjusted. Bill killed the five guard, but I'm not sure he realized the effect it may have on Jalen.
Second - he is not getting to the line. He is throwing up wild layups instead of looking for contact. He's only taken 3 free throws the last 103 minutes he's been on the floor. He took 20 free throws the 100 minutes prior to that resulting in nearly 1/3 of his points during that stretch. And on the season about 20% of his points have come from the line. He needs to find a way to get to the charity stripe.
Third - if he isn't making threes (and it really looks like the scouting report says to leave him open) then all he can do is drive to his right and to the right side of the basket. It really is an easy scout. So the staff isn't wrong there...
At this point you have to decide if it is fixable this season or not. Of course if he was hitting threes we probably wouldn't even be saying anything. If he can finish out the rest of the season shooting .400 from 3, that changes everything for him. But currently he is frustrated and literally looked like he may have never played basketball before at times last night. The airball floater was the boiling point last night. So if he can't get over this slump, maybe it is time to play someone else 20 mpg instead of Jalen. Maybe Jalen should be taken off the starting rotation. I don't know what the answer is. I just hope his confidence isn't completely shook because he could get hot and maybe help this team to a sweet 16.
This team needed something to get some mojo back even if it was ugly. They were acting like a bunch of kicked puppies. Maybe this will get them going
Let’s show up for 40 minutes Saturday please
Win is a win?
