SportsCenter will have more "highlights" today from SEC media days than ones from the WUG...
Heat check from Hunter there...
Moore. DeBose
Perry a lack of game situation showed there
Great soccer reaction. Act like you've been shot and once it's whistled walk away like you're 100%
The amount, or should I say the lack of actual ESPN coverage other than ESPNU's broadcast of our Jayhawks representing Team USA is very disappointing. Especially since they're playing for Gold tomorrow morning. I checked my mobile ESPN and they had nothing about it. But there was an article about Duke getting a recruit for next next year.
Announcers taking a pee break I guess...
@brooksmd North Korea spliced into South Koreas cable so Kim Jong-un could get his b ball fix.
My 11 kid can YouTube video game trainers to Antarctica but ESPN and their infinite wisdom can't get a damn ball game with hd cameras to work??
So I'm not the only poor bastard not getting the game
Selden with 23 points
73-58 4:45
Pressure is killing us.
Traylor bonehead play leads to run out. 64-52
6:54 left
Traylor does a good acting job. That's what you got to do
64-48 8:11 left in 4th
Bailed out
On the floor? Ellis put it up as soon as contact came!
Guy fouled Selden and called it himself. Yet refs let it go
Jamari reverts to foul mode
If Duke was the representative Bilas and Vitale would be calling this game. And Brasil would have 4 guys fouled out already....
@KUSTEVE No sound? Not a fan of the D team announcers?
@KUSTEVE I think they called a double foul. Not sure which Brasilian picked it up though.
Feeling it
And I was wrong !
I think they do because of foul trouble.
I love soccer but the bitching to the refs after everything by Brasil is futbol like and annoying.
I guess if the last crew was NBA caliber than this one is Middle School.
New jerseys
You forgot Svii isn't playing either. I agree. The Universiade is pretty much a waste with all of the injuries and foreign players which means this team won't get to gel much like the UK team last year
Christian G must have been busy
Makes one wonder what the real reason is doesn't it. Now my OAD conspiracy isn't so crazy?
I already provided a link. Scroll up. Official WUG site. I've stated EJ Ty and Trav.
This is all my speculation....
I think at first Self declared them too old so he didn't scare off a OADer. I think Self thought that by saying we didn't have other options (like EJ, Ty, Trav) it would make the OADers more likely to sign here. We all know OADers don't want competition. And maybe Self was confident that he would land one or two of the OAD crop by saying this so he didn't feel we needed the former guys.
We know Self and Co dangled the WUG in front of all of the big time recruits. TV time, extra games, playing against other countries, representing the US, free trip.... I mean, why wouldn't these OAD guys want that?? But then those OADers see a returning starter at point and at the 2. Plus we've got two 3s that will push them for minutes...
Well crap, after all of that the OADers picked other landing spots.
Which sucks because Self had already stated that EJ, Trav, and Ty were all too old and he doesn't want to look like an ass and back track on his earlier statements so it's go with what you got.
Landing LV cushioned our talent deprived back court and adding an outsider on a former 'Hawks team (Nic) helped us out but why help the enemy I say!!
And not going with a fully loaded team is just bonkers to me. Looking at you TS and EM.
Call me a dick but this isn't Jr High. And obviously Self feels the same way. Why else is he now scrambling to pick up one more player??? If Self wanted to put EM and TS on the team he should have felt confident in their ability to play as a back up in case one of our players went down while in South Korea.
I don't like the idea of going to SK to lay a big fat egg and risk injury. If we're going to go I want us to compete for a championship. Instead we are heading over there with a half loaded team.... What could have been.
Do you believe everything Self says?? Look up the rules yourself. I've read his quotes. That's why I want someone with a connection to actually ask him the truth.
@Crimsonorblue22: Ron baker
Kill me if that's the case. Don't lay with the enemy!
Agree @HEM, this isn't going to be a quick recovery. You're better off breaking a bone than straining or spraining something.
Fully aware they aren't currently enrolled.
But the fact that we only had 3 scholarship guards on the roster prior to LV signing, which was pretty late this spring, has been known for sometime. It's not like Oubre leaving, Svii not being able to play, and the Greene injury was all a surprise. Self and staff should have reached out to the guys that they and we know can play in our system and expressed interest early on. And what is it going to hurt for EJ and/or Ty to take a class or two, get a free ride to South Korea, see some sites, kick some ass, take some names, and maybe play a little ball if need be??
Maybe I'm being selfish but I'd rather give the opportunity to one of our own (guys that gave it their all for 4 years!!) and not to someone that isn't a 'Hawk through and through.
Call me a pessimist but I think this "little" knee problem is going to linger more than they want to lead on. Already going to miss all of the summer... So much for DG getting some extra reps. Now he'll be pretty far behind.
I know that's the same tired ass line Self keeps saying but these are the actual guidelines here:
Each athlete must meet the following specific criteria in order to be eligible.
United States Citizen and able to obtain a US Passport.
Born between January 1, 1987 and December 31, 1997. For basketball, the athlete must be born after January 1, 1990 and before December 31, 1997.
Have taken at least one 3-credit course towards a degree or diploma within the last year before the GAMES. Incoming freshman and transfers are usually eligible.
Sign the Comprehensive Acceptance of Team USA Agreements form.
Sign the Team USA Honor Code and Code of Conduct form.
Sign the Team USA Authorizations, Waiver and Release Form.

Top of the page states this is for the 2015 games so it's not an old link. I'd like someone like Jesse, Gary, or Keegs to actually press Bill on the real reason he's not using guys that know the system and instead is bringing in guys that could be our competition.
I still don't understand why we never planned to take Ty and/or EJ. Both fit the age requirements unless the ones listed on the official wuGusa site are wrong. Too late now but should have had back up plans for things like this. If we weren't planning on competing for a medal by taking a loaded roster then I'd rather us not participate and risk these types of injuries. Glad it wasn't something that would be season ending like Paul George but fear this will linger....
June is obviously a typo on their part. The schedule at the bottom of that page shows Canada's pool B play.
Found this. They are scheduled to play in SK as well. Anyone know for sure?

Adidas is till the biggest gear supplier in soccer abut Nike has made huge gain in recent years; maybe this explains why.
Having said that, it looks like grandstanding by a publicity hungry Department of Justice who apparently has run out of police officer to prosecute. What we will find out is that this the way business is done in other parts of the world; do I agree with it? No, but in the majority of the world it will have little repercussion since most of the people involved are not Americans, don't reside here and the Justice Department has no jurisdiction over them. Yes, other countries will make some gestures but in the end it will be quietly resolved and in a few years it will be back to business as usual. Haven't we learned by now that we cannot impose our values or our will on other cultures?
Let me give you an example. When I occasionally get a traffic ticket, I normally go to court, have the ticket changed to anon- moving violation and the fine is doubled; the city gets twice the revenue and I don't get point in my license. A few year ago I got a (fully undeserved) speeding ticket in Harrisonville, MO, I went to court to get the ticket amended and I was asked if I was lawyer, I told them no and I was told that they will only deal with lawyers and if I wanted to get the ticket amended I would need to hire an attorney which I did and I ended up paying double the fine and the attorney's fees on top of that to get what I should have gotten in the first place. How is this not the same case with Nike hiring a firm that specializes in getting licensing. to get an exclusive deal with Brazil? They simply hired a firm to help them along in the process the same way I had to hire an attorney to get my ticket amended and I have no clue on whether he paid a "fee" to a member of traffic court in Harrisonville...maybe the Department of Justice should investigate Harrisonville. MO instead???
Just my 2 cents on the issue.
Your example is nothing like the bidding for a World Cup. Key word is bidding. If you were bidding on some road work or a government construction job and greased the pockets of an individual(s) that had control over the selection process then your story would make sense. The only way you could relate your story with the FIFA scandal would be if you were to bribe the officer not to give the ticket. Or to bribe the judge to throw it out. Then both stories would have bribery in them. All you did was paid for a diversion.
From another school? University?
He's played for the PR Junior National team back in 2009 and tried out for the PR National team in 2012. Maybe someone like Jesse could answer the question if that makes him ineligible. Either way though his being in Puerto Rico now according to his Twitter probably isn't a good sign of his inclusion on the WUG squad.
Right now we only have three scholarship guards that will be suiting up, this scares me. Being picked to represent the USA in this tourney is a huge honor and one KU shouldn't take lightly. For us to go there and compete without the best possible options at our disposal for success will all but guarantee several things. We go there with only 8,9 scholarship guys and lay a big fat egg this will be our one and only chance at this opportunity for a long, long time. And don't think that a poor showing wouldn't be used against us in recruiting. But if we go there and kick some ass and take some names it opens up domestic and international recruiting eyes. I really hope KU doesn't view this only as extra practice time.
I know he meets age requirement.
My only question now about his eligibility for KU at the WUG has to do with his playing for the Puerto Rican team in the past.
In the bigs department we are pretty limited. As far as I can tell it would be Kevin Young and that's it. All of the other former bigs that meet the age requirement are in the league so that excludes them. And I don't know if Kev's playing time with the Puerto Rican national team excludes him.
As for guards we have a few to pick from. Guys like Ty, EJ, Trav, Josh, and if we're desperate Naa.
Depending on how Self fills out the remaining scholarships we really could use KY and a big guard. I'd love to see Ty back but we need a 3 more than a 1,2 but if we sign a 3, or two 3s, we could use Ty's leadership.

If KY is just turning 25 his bday is after Jan 1 1990 which makes him eligible.
Went on sale to WEF members last month.
Will the new team, or teams if this project is a success, have new rosters every year?? Or will it have a bunch of D-League guys on it to fill all the open spots?? Talk about edge of your seat basketball there. Anyone here watch the D League??? Remember, the NBA only drafts 60 guys a year. Some are from overseas. Some are college kids. And some from this XFL like league. And not all of those guys make the BIG League and are demoted to DLeague with a 30,000 paycheck... Sounds like a sticky situation.
