KCK native, been in Seattle since'78.
More like No-ey Bats.
Okay, time for a late dinner...see you guys later! Go Royals!
So Cueto starts Game 3, right?
They're dancin' at Power & Light!
Lord, I wish I was in KC right now. Must be nuts. Watching KMBC-TV online right now.
Royals - Blue Jays. 1985 redux?
Yowsah!!!!
Royals bats sponsored by Viagra.
And that should get 3...
Up till tonight my favorite Game 5 was 20 years ago this week when the Mariners came from behind to knock out the Yankees..
Bullpen now, or let him finish?
Yeah, he probably just earned himself another couple of million on his next free agent deal.
Damn! THIS is the Cueto that Royals fans have been waiting for.
I switched away myself and missed most of the comeback.
Absolutely stunning.
Highly recommend the Negro Leagues Museum. The coolest part of it is the Field Of Legends...a mock baseball diamond with life-sized statues of Hall Of Famers at each position.
Not to mention, it's just a short walk to Arthur Bryant's!
Well, if things are bad around the KU program, at least it's not the dumpster fire that's Rutgers football.
Our next opponent has just had half a dozen players kicked off the team for various and sundry "alleged" crimes including burglary, assault and domestic violence. And its coach got a three-game suspension for pressuring a teacher to change a player's grade (though he still gets to lead the team during weekday practices). Part of an athletic program that's got a laundry list of violations that could almost qualify them for the Death Penalty if the NCAA were so inclined.
In their last game the Scarlet Knights got beat by Pac-12 doormat Washington State. Tonight they have a game with Penn State, so they may have their act together (relatively speaking) by the time they play us. But it's worth hoping...
They just missed each other by a couple of years.
I was lucky enough to get a front-row seat to watch Dawkins and the Sixers play the Seattle Supersonics at the Kingdome back in the early 80s. What an array of stars...Philly also had Doctor J., Doug Collins and Mo Cheeks, versus the Sonics' Dennis Johnson, Gus Williams, Jack Sikma and Downtown Freddie Brown. An epic battle that went into OT, with the Sixers finally winning.
RIP Darryl (and the Sonics).
Yeah, I wish him well, too. After reading this I feel like KU was getting emotionally damaged goods from Jake's BYU experience. You also have to wonder how much the whole situation had to do with his folks' marriage falling apart.
Interesting story by KU alum Jayson Jenks in the Seattle Times about the rise and fall of Jake Heaps. From 5-star qb recruit to a guy who washed out at three NCAA schools, to a longshot to make an NFL roster.
Thanks to all who sent photos/videos/articles on the flood. Hope all our fellow Hawks in TX are riding this out. Saying a prayer for everyone affected.
Just curious...when it comes to floods, my personal frame of reference is the '77 Plaza flood. Better or worse?
Enjoying the Beatle references on this thread. My girlfriend from KU days ('73-'75) lives in NoCal these days...we went to see McCartney last summer at Candlestick (where the Beatles played their last US concert). Not bad for an old fart of 72!
By the way, I heard that Jaybowl in the Kansas Union (where she and I first met) shut down for good last weekend after 60-plus years. Sign of the times...
I still cherish my first and only visit to old Comiskey. A night game with temps in the 30s...nearly froze my butt off. Couldn't have been more than 8 or 9 thousand in the park Loved the character of the place, though. Ozzie Guillen knocked in the winning run in the 9th, so everybody went home happy.
Well done Badgers. Good luck on Monday. I'm heading back to KU myself a few days later to see my nephew (who was one of the Big Jay mascots this year, by the way), and go to my high school reunion in KC.
Nice to see the good guys win for a change.
Happy Easter/Passover, everybody!
The Calipari "story," whether it's true or not, comes at the same time as the NCAA sanctions on Boeheim, and adds to the increasing national impression that college basketball is reverting to the bad old days of point-shaving and other evils.
I always thought Boeheim had charmed too many of the national media (a fair number of which came out of the Syracuse journalism school) into believing he was an all-around good guy. You'd never hear otherwise on ESPN, especially not from his buddies Vitale, Wilbon and Kornheiser.
The whole mess makes me think of that joke that Milton Berle told during the early '50s. "Hey, how do you like my new nose? Yeah, it's my basketball nose...I just had it fixed."
Good effort by both teams.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend guys!
Exhale...
Jeez...this is taking longer than an MLB game.
Bilas usually gives us the benefit of a doubt, so I'll forgive him this time. "bout time we got a break from the refs.
Ball game.
Another 5-minute review?
Yowsah!
Well, at least KSU did us a favor. What, no court storm this time?
Wow...I gotta step away for awhile. Can't stand any more Stephen A.
Time to get an early start on Fat Tuesday. Bye guys!
Glass half full. It was a road loss, and we're still in first place. Glass half empty. This could cost us a 2 seed.
On to TCU.
And another court storming...
Last shot...
Next foul's the bonus.
Good look at Hudy's trick bag...
Meanwhile. back to the game. We may have gotten an assist from the weather. Less crowd noise from a half full house.
Thug play. His Twitter apology's a little too late. Sit him down for the rest of the season!.
Happy V-day to all!
KAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY UUUUUUUUUUUUUUU !
Start the chant...
Put 'em away!
Refs calling the pitty-pat stuff now.
Finally finding some holes inside.
That's it guys...give 'em three chances.
