350 DI teams roughly and Duke, Nova, UNC, UConn and Florida have finished the season at least twice as the top team in the land since Bill Self arrived in Lawrence. We're a club of 6. Gonzaga, UCLA, MSU, Kentucky, Louisville, and other high level programs and their fans look at us with some envy. This is my best defense of Bill Self as I'm really not a big X's and O's guy like so many of you are.

While he was still getting his footing in Lawrence and lost two first round games in a row, he has won the first round of the dance every year since. Thus by logic he has been eliminated by a team good enough to be playing in the sweet 16 every year since 2006. He's been eliminated by a team that played in the FF 10 times. This is his 21st season. More than half of the tournaments he's played in that he didn't win he's been eliminated by a FF team.

While it's frustrating to watch when the end comes, I'm content with how this team has performed with Bill Self. Yes, I'm a little jealous of the success of a UCONN, that's it. I wouldn't trade spots with any other program. Even then, the aura and national prominence of KU is elite. I'm looking forward to see how this season ends. And when/if it ends in disappointment I'll think back to 88, 08, and 22 and the still lasting great feeling that each of those years brought.

OK, they settled down and took care of business. Liking the tough defense carried the day and decent 2nd half offense was enough. I think it was Vince Lombardi who said when playing bad just make the other team play worse. This one kind of felt like that. I really don't think TCU is very good. We were losing by 14, won by 13, so from about the 10 minute mark or whenever it was a 14 hole we trounced them by 27. Good teams do that.

Hunter still got to learn to walk away from stupid crap. Lucky that didn't blow up into an embarrassing talked about brawl. Not sure I liked the way that particular moment was officiated but still, Hunter is 24 years old and he let a freshman on a going nowhere team nearly cost us some playing time in this one and future games.

Not sure where this team is going to land in March. Could be another round of 32 exit, but obviously, enough talent and experience here to get much further.

It's doubtful AJ gets the minutes or points he had if KJ was healthy, but against an inferior opponent he found his groove but he was really bad in the first half. Wouldn't it be cool if Rylen and AJ could just keep subbing for each other and have them well rested providing instant O and enough D to make them one complete player?

Shak is one exciting player.

This is how good Mayo has been for us. He's got 11 and it hardly feels like he's scored.

This team stinks at layups. Everyone else makes them but us.

Dickinson got fouled on that drive. OOB call not given to us when it should have. 3 TCU guys jumped into that held ball crap no techs assessed. Not used to complaining about zebras at TCU but this has been bad this half.
