Rumor floating on Twitter that KU team has covid concerns..

We'll see how this shakes out

Mar 09, 2021 05:25 PM #2

I saw that too. Better to miss the B12 tournament than the other one.

Hopefully it's just 1 or 2 players and not the entire team.

Mar 09, 2021 05:30 PM #3

And the rumor is certainly pointing to Dave..

Mar 09, 2021 06:01 PM #4

Just don't even play in the conference tournament imo

Mar 09, 2021 06:05 PM #5

@BShark I think it would have been a great chance for us to push for a 2 seed, but we aren't going to do that if Dave is sitting. So just throw in the towel and we will see everyone in two weeks.

Mar 09, 2021 07:07 PM #6

Press Conference at 1:30 today. We should know more soon.

Mar 09, 2021 07:17 PM #7

It's been reported confirmed that it is one player on the KU basketball team

Mar 09, 2021 07:26 PM #8

way luck is going with KU sports - - WHY does this not surprise me

Mar 09, 2021 07:34 PM #9

Actually it was to players covid 19 David Mccormick and Tristan Enaruna

Mar 09, 2021 07:34 PM #10

McCormack, Enaruna in Covid protocol and Self expects to have them back for the NCAA tournament.

Mar 09, 2021 07:36 PM #11

GETHRO TIME

Mar 09, 2021 07:38 PM #13

All I got to say is - - - - F - - - . - - were not going to play in the Big 12 tourney right ?

Mar 09, 2021 07:39 PM #14

Every year we find new and exciting ways to not have our center for the NCAA tournament.

comical really

Mar 09, 2021 07:47 PM #16

Sucks! Roommates

Mar 09, 2021 07:49 PM #17

It could be worse. Hopefully we have Dave (and Tristan) back for the NCAA tournament. Until then, guys really need to take it upon themselves to be smart and not put themselves at additional risk for contracting Covid.

Mar 09, 2021 07:50 PM #18

Just triple mask them and get them out on that court. I kid. I kid.

They should be back for the N CAA tournament

Mar 09, 2021 07:54 PM #20

I wonder if Garrett will play the 5 on defense for a handful of minutes like he did against UTEP.

On one hand it sucks on the other this team isn't making noise in the tournament anyway.

Mar 09, 2021 08:02 PM #22

well we have played with like 5 out before right ? - -playing Jalen at the 5 sport right? I guess we play with Marcus - - - Ocahi - - - Jalen - - - Christian & now maybe Bryce ? - just means Christian has to really step up - - Jalen really need to really step up

I don't think it's impossible for us to make a run. UTEP aside, the team has been playing with more consistency lately. Just need to treat every game like we're playing Baylor and play with that kind of intensity.

Mar 09, 2021 08:18 PM #24

Oklahoma doesn't have that great of big, Wilson and Mitch can take turns. Play Juan more. I hope tech wins. If not play Marcus on Sims. Offense? πŸ™3'sπŸ’¨

Mar 09, 2021 08:47 PM #25

If anyone can find a way to make a miracle run to win the B12 tournament it is Bill.

Yeah but the Texas game after that LOL

Mar 09, 2021 09:40 PM #27

@BShark I almost don't want to see that game. Would have to be the first time Bill ever had one team beat him three times in a single season.

Mar 09, 2021 10:25 PM #28

@BShark Marcus on Jericho sims

Mar 09, 2021 11:01 PM #29

What a week for KU fans. First Miles, now this. Can we please get through 24 hours without another punch to the gut ?

That said, we've been pretty lucky so far in terms of virus cancellations. The law of averages is finally catching up with us. Hope everybody's healthy and cleared to play by the 18th.

Mar 10, 2021 12:23 AM #30

Well, Bill has a couple days to retool the offense. Better RAIN THREES fellas, and follow your shots.

Mar 10, 2021 12:25 AM #31

This team can't shoot

Mar 10, 2021 01:36 AM #32

In all seriousness, I say skip the Big12 tourney and get ready for the dance. At this point, playing in the conference tournament can only hurt our NCAA seeding.

@nwhawkfan Unfortunately Long just got fired. However, the bright side is, if things come in 3s, then we should be done..

Mar 13, 2021 03:19 PM #43

Wilson is the one that is sick and Kansas is still likely to be in the NCAA tournament

That would be elite spring Bill. Hard to imagine getting both though.

Mar 15, 2021 03:29 AM #52

@FarmerJayhawk KU is definitely in play for TyTy but yeah likely a tough sell. You could and would easily start both if say, Ochai goes pro. Would much prefer Ochai back ofc.

I assume Walker is wrapped up given the Slater tweet.

For sure. Clearing the scholarships would be tricky. We're already 1 over, so we'd have to shed 3 to take both. Jossell, Tyon/Enaruna, ?? I don't think I'd jettison both Tyon and Enaruna because it leaves us a bit short at the 3/4 spots. I still really think Tyon could be a beast. I think Och stays. He might test but if he takes another leap next year look tf out

Mar 15, 2021 03:35 AM #54

@FarmerJayhawk 1 over? I thought Mitch didn't count next year. Mitch, Garrett and Silvio scholarships cover the currently signed class.

There are a lot of physical tools to work with when it comes to Tyon, hope he stays as well. Tristan leaving almost seems like a foregone conclusion.

Ope. I totally memory hole'd Silvio lol. Then yeah, that makes the math way easier. Let's roll!

Mar 15, 2021 03:40 AM #56

Very understandable, what a mess that was.

Mar 15, 2021 03:53 AM #57

@BShark also likely pushes Cuffe to 22, which is good.

Mar 15, 2021 04:59 AM #58

Starting PG at Kansas next season. Tyson Walker. Averaged 18.8 points a game this year at a mid major. First team all conference and DEFENSIVE player of the year in his conference. Handle is elite, really has a knack for steals (averages more than Garrett).

Mar 15, 2021 02:40 PM #62

@BShark Is there a chance he transfers to KU then?

Mar 15, 2021 02:41 PM #63

@KirkIsMyHinrich

There's mutual interest for sure. His list of schools that have contacted him is really long. Definitely one to watch

Ok , so for my Bucketeer inside B'Shark - - -dam buddy , why is it I fell instantly in love with this kid's game ? just got through watching a 5 1/2 minute video on his game and seen nothing I don't love. Ya I know somewhere he has his flaws I'm sure , n ow I don't claim to be a wizard about seeing what a kids got - - no recruiting analyst or anything BUT from what I can see what's not to like ?

I hate it when I see certain kids like this and to see we are reaching out showing interest , only for them to go else where BUT I mean really lol ?

let me break down what I took out of this Tyson Walker has good handles, handles the ball pretty well , good penetrator , showed a little floater , middle range game , looks to be really good actually 3 point shooter has some pretty decent range , looks to play solid defense looks to be able to drive and dish pretty well - - so what's NOT to like ?

Now if you want to get nit picky and I was when I was trying to find negative & really had to look but the one thing /concern would be size. Just wondering how his drives that it showed here just wondering how those drives he makes at North Eastern would convert over to a Major P-5 School?- -Kind of worried that might not work as well against High P-5 competition again size 6 foot be trying to drive against more talented Big's - -bigger Guards how would those drives work against say like Jarrod Butler -- Devion Mitchell those types? - Again small thing.

The only other negative is like Beddie pointed out - -the list of Schools that has reached out - -A LOT of Schools kind of a downer , what in the REAL world in reality what would you think are chances REALLY ARE a getting someone like this to commit here ? - -Especially with this NCAA thing hanging over our head. -- do you think he is in the least interested in us ? - - All I have to say in the end is -- -YES PLEASE St Patty's day coming up would be nice to get some Irish luck - -Lot of Irish in me my Mom's family last name McMahan can't get more Irish then that time to sprinkle some Lepricon dust on he bring him home lol

Mar 15, 2021 06:54 PM #69

Chances are 99.9 percent. He is really good and exactly what we needed for next season.

@BShark said in Rumors:

so your thinking Walker is a good bet then to committing to us ? - -that's what your saying ? sorry kind of thick lol - -takes me a minute , hope that's what your saying - -instantly fell in love with the way this kid , plays want him bad

Mar 15, 2021 08:09 PM #71

NOT GREAT

Mar 15, 2021 08:10 PM #72

@jayballer67 Would bet on him being the starting PG for the Kansas Jayhawks next season.

Mar 15, 2021 08:12 PM #73

GOOD NEWS per Self!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dave McCormack will join the team Friday for practice and play Saturday.
Self adds he doesn't know how effective he will be..

Jalen Wilson could play Monday if KU advances. He's expected to join them Monday if they win.

Enaruna is out, recently tested positive for Covid

Oh the transfer meter on Tristan is at 99.9%. We'll see what happens there. I'm sure he would want to be with the team though seems how he missed the Tournament last year. Unlucky

Self's comment about how he doesn't know how effective McCormack is the concerning part to me because that sounds like McCormack had Covid and lack of energy/stamina is one of the concerning symptoms as far as basket players are concerned.

EWU runs a lot of 5 out stuff so not a great match up for Dave regardless. I'd rather see Self rest Dave in the first round and save him for Evan Mobley. KU likely doesn't need Dave for EWU, but they won't beat USC without him or Jalen.

Harmon tested positive and OU fans are not super happy with KU fans at the moment.

Mar 17, 2021 09:28 PM #89

Lol he could have literally contracted it from anywhere. It isn't like there are 100 cases a day. There are 50k new cases a day.

Mar 17, 2021 09:41 PM #90

Or with KU rather. I've read a lot of comments from OU fans who think Harmon got it from the KU game, and specifically from Jalen Wilson.

But yeah, he could have picked it up from a lot of different places. OU fans just need a place to direct their anger.

How about betting on additional OU players then? I'll go with Harmon's roommate in Indy, and one student manager.

Mar 18, 2021 01:21 AM #96

I'll tell you what though. If no more KU players or coaches get it, then it's probably unlikely that Harmon got it from Jalen.

Mar 18, 2021 04:03 AM #97

Unless they spent more than 15 mins in close contact, I doubt he gave it to him. Maybe they chatted it up before the game. We wear those beads that detect contact tracing.
