Home games this week start with Oklahoma.
OU is 1-2 so far in conference, losing to Texas & Iowa St at home by a combined 4 points and winning in OT by 5 against Tech. 4 of their 5 losses are by 4 points or less.
I expect this OU team to come prepared and hungry although historically and correct me if I'm wrong, Oklahoma hasn't won in Allen since Self has been head coach.
Expect a tough game, they are going to try and slow the game down. OU shoots the ball really well from everywhere as a team, 49% FG, 73% FT, 38% from 3. KU must have a strong defensive game here. OU matches up very well with KU. They will also have to make shots at near or above their average I'm thinking.
Guys to know:
Grant Sherfield-
OU's leading scorer is well known. He was recruited by KU in HS a bit before ending up Wichita St, Nevada & now OU. Sherfield is familiar with Allen Fieldhouse having played here last season when they lost to KU by 27, he scored 16 that night. He averages just under 17 ppg so he's capable of big games, having scored 20+ 6 times this year already. Shooting 46% from 3 on the season on high volume. If looking for any chink in the armor, his last 3 games he's been 4-22 from 3 and averaging only 12 ppg.
Groves Brothers-
Still here. They keep following KU around LOL. 2nd and 3rd leading scorers on the team. Tanner inside, Jacob more inside/out. I think Jacob is the key to slow down since he's shooting 41% from 3 & has had a handful of games with multiple 3's made in a game. He's the kind of guy that gets lost in ball rotations.. PITA's
Jalen Hill-
4th leading scorer but has led them in scoring in last 2 league games. In fact, he's averaged 16 ppg in league play so far & has shown he can hit the 3 as well (6-10 in that span). PITA
Milas Ozan-
Freshman guard is now in the starting lineup for OU. Modest scoring numbers but shooting 54% fg, 43% from 3, 88% FT's. Self mentioned they recruited him a bit so they are familiar. He's had 14 turnovers in his last 4 games so its a good matchup to exploit with him coming to Allen for the first time. Cannot let this kid get comfortable. Scored a career high 17 in his last game.
What's everyone's thoughts here? I think we are going to see OU's best shot and we better be prepared for it unlike our conference opener.
