Seems fitting, big game. It's February and we tend to rise to the occasion. Time to welcome them to the Big-12 in the Phog.

Bill has averaged about a loss a season at home I think. Unscathed this year so far. To be honest I'm always super impressed when teams come into AFH and beat us. That must be an all time high for a lot of those teams and their fans that do.

Time to up the atmosphere to the best level in sports again. I know people that have been season ticket holders for 30 years and they told me the UCONN game was the best atmosphere they have been to. Let’s do it again folks, if you're going and plan on sitting down and not being as loud as possible. Give you ticket to someone who will.

Here is a little tid bit of info/history stat I saw tonight. Coach Self is 13-0 in top 10 match ups when KU is the lower ranked team.

Went to Houston message Board , Coach Sampson was pretty complimentary in his weekly Coach's show. Was asked about how do you prepare your guys for a game like this with the atmosphere ? His response was - - you don't. He said you just have to play through it or try. Said he had Coached games in Allen before and said I guarantee you at some point during the game tomorrow it's going to sound like a 747 taking off from the back of that building.

He said KU has been the premier Basketball program for the last 25 years or so, also mentioned when you play KU they have not ONE All American , but KU has TWO all Americans on the floor.
Stated also that KJ Adams was vey under rated and that the kid is just a winner

Talked about how the KU fans were very knowledigble , and how they can help during games. - Guys very complimentary, just hope our guys don't read into that and get to full of themselves , this game is going to be a war. -We are 2.5 underdog right now. When was the last time we were a underdog on our home floor. I think the guys will be juiced- - we KNOW the FOG is going to be insane. We just can't afford a lot of sill turnovers and can't afford any long extended scoring droughts. - -We are going to have to have Juan post some points tomorrow, w are going to need all hands on deck.

One thing maybe i our favor is Houston not the best shooting fg's and have had tendency to have scoring droughts of their own, we have to take full advantage of that. -- They are really strong in offensive rebounding so we have to get after the boards hard.- - No live ball turnovers, just a must. - -One bad thing for us is they are the best at opposition holding them down on two point fg

Only the second time we have been a dog at Allen under Self. How will it play out IDK but want to see us handle the pressure. Glad we have the Furp who will hit the boards and get out on the break.

I'm really disappointed to be an underdog at home-even if it's to a good team like Houston. It just seems the last few years at least one opposing player in these big games shoots 3s way above his average. I'm really disappointed with KU's 3 pt shooting defense and hope to see improvement today.

Houston has 3 guys that can go off from 3, it's a huge part of their offense actually besides rebounding all their misses. They rely on the 3 a lot. Cryer is the worry especially with all his experience playing KU and his propensity for having big games playing us.

Dickinson needs to have a big game today. The matchup is favorable since Houston doesn't have any size like him. No excuses for him today. STEP UP

Just announced on gameday - Game day will be at the Phog next Saturday against Baylor

A couple of things sounds simple -- but harder then it sounds. Think pretty basic - -KU just has to hold their on the Boards - -Hunter - -KJ- - -Furphy - -& Kevin have to compete like never before.
Houston's biggest players who see many minutes is 6'7 - - Roberts & Tugler. -- BUT Houston rash's the offensive boards thinks every loose ball belongs to them , -- just GOT TO REBOUND.

Houston , does not share the ball very well only 13 assists per game. - -They don't shoot the ball very well 43.6 Fg - -terrible ft % 67.8 - - -& shoot 35.2 % from the 3Pt - -BUT two things they do really well- --crash the boards - and turn you over extreme defensive pressure - -DeJuan has to take care of the ball -be solid , they double ball screens aggressive

THREE things to a win - -Take care of the ball , REBOUND & get out and run , Houston loves to play slow I think they said like 320th in defensive tempo. - -don't let Houston dictate tempo - -got to go - -run

Well this isn't good , discouraging news Today is time to break this. - -Ku & Coach Self is 0 -6 when we play teams ranked # 1 in Ken Pom - -time to put a stop to that

A game like today is when KU can be really scary. It's almost like nobody is ging KU any chance to win this game - - on our home floor. With 5 minutes to go and Cryer singly getting Houston within three possessions Self assigned Juan exclusively to Cryer who accomplished one assist, one turnover and one missed air ball three the rest of the way.

Kevin wants it as bad as anyone and you don't need to ask him.

Furphy was; I wish he could play defense, wow he can really shoot, we may have found or fifth starter, you might not want to get between him and a rebound; to now he's special and this team, Phog willing, believes in itself.

Best all around performance of the season. Only team to hang 70 on UH in regulation this season. 18 turnovers is the one black eye for today for Kansas otherwise this is probably a 25 point win. Shooting almost 70% for the game against that defense is insane because UH is legitimately a top 5 defense in the country.

Today is why KU was the preseason #1 because when they play like this, nobody can beat Kansas. KU is also 4-1 against current top 10 teams so we know our ceiling is high enough to win a title because nobody else has done that so far this season that I'm aware of.

KU statement game: 69% from the field and 46% from 3 against a really good defensive team. The confidence from this significant win must carry over to the KSt game on Monday.

I agree with you 1000 % we don't storm the floor, people that do that need to act like that they belong & yet you can take it to the bank that if little sister beats us tomorrow night - -guarantee you they will storm the court

How important was this victory over Houston in AFH?

It's the start of our relationship and it let them know how hard it is to win in AFH. It creates a psychological barrier that they have to overcome before they can legitimately contend in our building. Does this sound like BS? Ask Scott Drew. And even, ask Oklahoma.

We want teams in our conference coming into AFH realizing already they are going to lose.

This was a huge start to our relationship with a team that is great every year. Kelvin is a great coach and we are lucky to have them in our conference. He always recruits tough athletes then he coaches them up.
