My lackluster picks are in!

@rockchalkjayhawk I'm filling out two brackets. One is the team with the prettiest colors. The other is whichever team has the best mascot.

Rest assured both will be winners!

Well done on the bracket names, folks

Bump!

I made one of my brackets based on who I thought would win if their mascots had a fight. I used the animal mascot for schools that don't actually use an animal name in their nickname. For example, I used UNC's ram mascot, Alabama's elephant mascot, and Iowa State's cardinal mascot.

KU lost in the 2nd round to McNeese. Grambling comes out of the Midwest region over Texas. The Final Four includes an Iron Bowl and the national champion was Alabama over Florida. If schools had the same mascot, the higher seeded team moved on.

Colorado and Florida is by far the best 1st round game with this criteria.

@Texas-Hawk-10 Just curious how you saw Badger v a Duke, and if you have the Dukes then round two if the other Duke wins, then it's the Dukes vs. Duke.

Mar 21, 2024 03:09 PM #12

I have Purdue over ISU! Purdue finally figures out how to break the opening curse and likeable guy Matt Painter gets it done. BIG finally wins a natty in football and now they'll break the embarrassing drought and win another.

I had JMU over Wisconsin, and Duke over JMU. I actually did some research on why Duke is called the Blue Devils and it's from a group of French WWI soldiers that a bunch of Duke students served with in WWI. So I imagined Duke's mascot as a devil from WWI.

Some challenging one were UAB vs SDSU because could a group of Aztecs kill a dragon? I thought so based on mythology since dragons aren't real animals.

@Texas-Hawk-10 And I'm sure you had a Tiger beating a Boilermaker which is very logical for a Purdue team to lose in the first round.

Mar 21, 2024 04:02 PM #15

@Texas-Hawk-10 You inspired me to do a theme bracket so I did scenic place bracket, Colorado winning it all over Colgate. New England vs. Rocky Mts is a tough choice for me, but the Mts won it.

First time in MANY years that I haven't been inclined to study up on all the teams so this year I made 3.

  1. An upsets one.

  2. A wish it would happen one.

  3. One based on records.

We'll see if emotions wins out vs. straight up records and luck.

My 8 year old boy who has no clue about sports has a better bracket than me (would be tied with Crimson). There is a reason I donโ€™t bet. What a crapshoot.

Mar 22, 2024 03:21 PM #18

HEY I'm doing good right now. - - I'm in a group with 4 others that only trail one person.--- - -I'm in the 89.27 percentile - -with 120 points - - -i actually got a better bracket but it's not in the group -- --go figure lol - -I have a 99.7 % on it with 140 points and I'm like in 83,497 th place or something like that - - insane

13 times since the 80's KU has won the first game but lost the 2nd. First round games have not been our kryptonite, 2nd have. Still more than half of our tournament appearances in that time have made it to the Sweet 16. I'm really not too optimistic tomorrow so the 2nd round jinx may continue. It's really been a recent phenomena for Selfs teams either to go deep into the dance or lose in the 2nd.

Mar 23, 2024 01:59 AM #20

@wissox knock that off! We r winning tmrw! Better matchup! Think we'll be faster too! My cup is running over.๐Ÿฅฐโค๏ธ๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ๐ŸคžI'm very hopeful!

@Crimsonorblue22 bill self and mark few share a birthday, same year even! After Badger letdown Iโ€™m ready for a rousing Jayhawk victory! Thanks for the pep talk !!!

Mar 30, 2024 03:15 PM #22

Who's on first?

Mar 30, 2024 03:47 PM #23

My bracket is so busted after the last two days.

Iโ€™m pretty sure Iโ€™m in last ๐Ÿคฃ

Mar 30, 2024 07:49 PM #26

@wissox thats you idnt it? Im sitting in second with my chalk bracket. I shoulda picked UConn

Mar 30, 2024 09:49 PM #27

@approxinfinity Yeah, my success is hinged on Illinois and Purdue continuing to win. Ill inois was a I grew up here pick instead of a head pick because I doubt they're beating UCONN.

Mar 31, 2024 08:45 PM #28

Well, well. Iโ€™m surprisingly near the top. I felt good about a few teams reaching the Final Four, but spent zero time pondering the first few rounds and upsets. That cost me.

Mar 31, 2024 10:56 PM #29

I aint winning no more

Mar 31, 2024 11:25 PM #30

Lol I have one entry still with a 97.9 5 good for- - - - 560,921 the place lmao

Apr 09, 2024 03:54 AM #31

Dang, pretty close finish. I feel better than Purdue I suppose.

Apr 09, 2024 04:11 PM #32

Ended up 99.5 percentile and was still like 132,000

Apr 09, 2024 04:14 PM #33

@jayballer67 The chances of picking a perfect bracket is: 1 in 2 to the 67th power, or 1 in 147,573,952,589,676,412,928, or about 147 quintillion. (According to San Diego State University math people)

I actually picked a perfect bracket this time. Too bad I didn't write it down on paper... :face_with_rolling_eyes:

@nuleafjhawk I've picked a perfect bracket every single season for years...Every bracket is perfect - like the smile of a child or dewdrops on a flower, each it's own delicate creation, the vessel of joy and dreams, prayerful fancy and wild yearning for a just and glorious world.
