2024 NFL Season
Aug 01, 2024 10:37 PM #1

New NFL season starts today, so much excitement after some incredible offseason moves and draft.

Caleb Williams in Chicago, Aaron in NY, Texans loading up on young talent and so on. So many new lucrative contracts.

Let the commentary begin.

Aug 02, 2024 07:41 PM #2

I gotta start getting into football mode soon.

Aug 03, 2024 11:44 AM #3

I am looking forward to plays with new kick off rules. Teams can now think and do a lot of things.

Aug 03, 2024 12:11 PM #4

I wish the poor NFL players made more money. Maybe we could have a bake sale or car wash to help out? Sell our firstborn to go watch a game in person. Of course, they would still be nosebleed seats.

I am too, but after the hall of fame game I’m becoming increasingly worried the new kickoff will be boring. It’s just a glorified run play. The high speed of the kickoff was what made it exciting. False starts will be all too common it appears. And the collisions will be at a low enough speed to reduce injury, but I’m worried it’s not creating any interesting plays.

Between this and Caleb’s great day it was fun ?s=46&t=c0LiaNrxev6XfT7LIH8dAQ

@Crimsonorblue22 dang. Austin Booker had an awesome game today for my Bears

Aug 11, 2024 06:50 AM #9

@FarmerJayhawk I read that, just not there. He looks so big!

Aug 11, 2024 07:53 AM #10

I’m gonna guess the Chiefs experiment with the rugby player ends pretty soon.

He’s definitely not a FB at least.

I see he even kicked off today.

@rockchalkjayhawk Steele looked good on the few carries I saw. Runs hard. Steele and Pacheco could really wear down a D. But it’s hard to garner much from one pre-season game. It’s all smoke and mirrors until week one. Pseudo-football.

Yea, agreed. One game hard to judge. He didn’t look very big or strong though.

I kinda had the game on in the background, so maybe I missed a few plays and shouldn’t judge him yet. The running play I saw he didn’t look too good. His blocking looked really bad and kinda clueless.

Oh well, new profession for him. Gotta learn.

But crap, the bigger news was the Hollywood Brown injury!!!

Aug 11, 2024 07:43 PM #13

@rockchalkjayhawk Do you have Steele (UCLA fullback) confused with our rugby experiment? Steele blasted his way through the defense and scored oour only TD, carrying guys to the goal line. The rugby guy had some trouble.

Aug 11, 2024 07:54 PM #14

Caveats about it being 2 preseason games apply, but it sure looks we got a steal in Booker @wissox ?s=46&t=c0LiaNrxev6XfT7LIH8dAQ

Ha, we've been drinking the same medicine.

Aug 12, 2024 01:25 AM #20

I'll go take another look at the game to figure out who the hell i was thinking about.

I just remember one new dude in the backfield trying to block, and it didn't look so good.

Aug 12, 2024 02:48 AM #21

@FarmerJayhawk Huh? Marty Booker coming back? Kidding of course, but I really don't pay attention to the Bears until the games are real. Hope we got a good one though!

Aug 12, 2024 03:02 AM #22

@FarmerJayhawk Oh, how soon I forget. Yes, he's a Jayhawk! And he's a Bear. I just got a feeling things are on the upswing.

OK, I went back and rewatched Rees-Zammit's plays. My only confusion was that i thought he was going to play FB. I hadn't read enough about what they plan to do with him. I guess RB, WR and special teams for now.

So, he didn't really stand out with positive plays. Not enough to truly make a judgment on him, but his blocking needed some help.

Always exciting to have a new player, so fingers crossed.

Aug 13, 2024 02:34 AM #24

@rockchalkjayhawk Super Bowls aren't nice things?

Aug 13, 2024 12:24 PM #25

@rockchalkjayhawk LRZ is practice squad material. He also kicked off one time during the pre-season game to have an extra tackler out there. Special teams might be his way to the roster, but I doubt it’s as a kicker.

Steele is solid. I hope he makes the team. He was TOUGH every time I watched him in college and that showed in the preseason game as well. Solid bench option.

Aug 15, 2024 02:38 AM #27

Booker had a really nice hit in Hard Knocks. He’s gonna be terrific for us

Aug 15, 2024 10:13 PM #28

Caleb W seems to be real deal, Bears have a bright future.

Aug 16, 2024 03:01 AM #29

@AsadZ Poles is putting together a nice roster.

Aug 26, 2024 04:06 PM #30

Ha, as predicted…JuJu is back!

Aug 26, 2024 08:09 PM #31

@rockchalkjayhawk So, 2 years in a row the Chiefs get back a WR at a minimal cost who had left to get more money in free agency.

Aug 26, 2024 08:59 PM #32

@mayjay said in 2024 NFL Season:

@rockchalkjayhawk So, 2 years in a row the Chiefs get back a WR at a minimal cost who had left to get more money in free agency.

makes perfect sense, right?

I hope JuJu makes the team, is still athletic, and can catch a ball and contribute more consistently than guys like Moore, Watson, Ross and Remigio.

I truly like the athleticism of Kadarius Toney. I'd like to see him stick around. Not sure if he will, but maybe they can find a way for him to succeed. It seems Andy likes him as well.

Aug 27, 2024 11:56 AM #33

@rockchalkjayhawk Toney is dangerous, very explosive, but also very prone to boneheaded mistakes. Two penalties on one play this preseason, too many passes hit his hands last year that the defense caught. And then there is that electric return two super bowls ago that set up the game saving drive.

Aug 27, 2024 12:50 PM #34

@dylans Kind of like a Wheel of Fortune spinner where the "Bankrupt" spaces increase randomly to about 60% of the wheel.

Exactly! He can’t possibly be the first boneheaded athlete to play in the NFL. Simplify things for him. Make use of his athleticism. Andy’s smart, but hasn’t figured him out yet.

Aug 27, 2024 03:07 PM #36

@rockchalkjayhawk I never want to see Young Joka play a meaningful snap. - pass hit his hands in the first game last year and ends up a pick six that cost the game. Lined up offsides and nullified Kelce’s lateral back to Toney touchdown - lost by a score again. This pre-season he had two penalties on one play.

It’s just hard to pass up on his potential, but his down side last year cost the Chiefs at least two games!

Then there’s Skyy Moore - he doesn’t really hurt you, but has no way to help either. I’d cut both. No upside to Skyy and too much downside to Toney. Good Toney is electric, maybe they can trade him?

  • I believe the Chiefs will keep Toney since his salary is guaranteed and he has high upside. We’ll find out today!
Aug 27, 2024 06:07 PM #37

Well there ya go. Toney got the boot.

And the rugby dude too.

Aug 27, 2024 06:08 PM #38

What do Chiefs fans think about FAU?

I was expecting more from him in yr 2 but did not see much growth at least in pre-season games.

Is he a bust or needs more time to develop?

Aug 27, 2024 07:42 PM #39

Chiefs released QB Chris Oladokun. Released WR Kadarius Toney. Released WR Justyn Ross. Released Louis Rees-Zammit. (courtesy ESPN)

Sorry to lose Ross. They also picked up a TE and a LB today by trading '25 and '26 seventh round picks. Not at all sure what that is all about.

Aug 27, 2024 08:41 PM #40

@AsadZ Developmental first round pick trending towards bust. Hope he has a good financial adviser.

Aug 27, 2024 08:52 PM #41

Bean and Fairchild didn’t make the cut. Bummer.

Aug 27, 2024 08:55 PM #42

@FarmerJayhawk And that's after this analysis that had many expecting Bean to make it through:

https://www.si.com/nfl/colts/colts-jason-bean-analytics-expert-top-performer ↗

Aug 27, 2024 09:00 PM #43

Booker made the Bears' roster.

Aug 27, 2024 09:02 PM #44

And Puni made it onto the 49ers.

Aug 27, 2024 09:17 PM #45

More background on the Chiefs' new LB, Cameron Thomas (3rd rd pick by the Cards in '22). More of an edge rusher than LB.

https://chiefswire.usatoday.com/2024/08/27/chiefs-trade-cameron-thomas-cardinals/ ↗

Aug 27, 2024 10:01 PM #46

If Bean can get good NFL QB coach, I am confident that he will become a very serviceable backup QB. He has tremendous potential, and he has speed.

He can make plays.

What he needs is solid coaching to avoid stupid mistakes and mediocre plays.

Aug 28, 2024 02:21 AM #47

Also, per CBS Sports, Bean ā€œinjured his shoulder on his one-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter of the Colts' preseason finale against the Bengals on Thursday. If he clears waivers, Bean could be invited back by Indianapolis to be on the practice squad, or he could look to take his talents elsewhere.ā€

Aug 28, 2024 03:53 AM #48

@Gorilla72 wonder how bad the injury is and if it's his throwing shoulder?

Aug 29, 2024 12:20 AM #49

Louis Rees-Zammit signed with the Jags practice squad.

Aug 29, 2024 05:14 AM #50

@mayjay kinda sad we couldn’t develop him

Sep 02, 2024 04:32 PM #51

Interesting…CEH is not on the active roster, out with PTSD.

I didn’t know this, but he’s apparently traumatized after killing a dude who was trying to rob him in college. That sucks.

Not to be callous, but will the Chiefs somebody else?

Sep 02, 2024 04:48 PM #52

@rockchalkjayhawk Perine

Sep 02, 2024 05:13 PM #53

No way the Chiefs lose back to back season openers. I can't wait for Thursday Night.

Sep 02, 2024 05:43 PM #54

I imagined the opportunity to 3peat was rare, but it is not: since 1967 nine teams have won back to back SBs. Man, what a great time to be a Chiefs fan. Get it done Chiefs.

A good win against a good team, could play a big factor later on in the year as to whom gets home field in the playoffs. Offense looked pretty good most the night, defense has a lot to work on IMO. If Lamar who played a good game could throw. The chiefs likely lose

Hey, a win vs a top team is a win! Happy about that. I thought the defense played well. Super tough to non-traditionally defend against Lamar. Ya never know what he’s gonna do. The D line was mostly great til they got winded. No real issues with the secondary. They made some good plays. The Baltimore touchdowns did seem preventable though.

Go Chiefs! And screw Peacock! :)

After seeing all the Greenbay/Eagles ads for the game in Brazil Friday night, that game is only shown on Peacock. So, for those who got Peacock to watch the Chiefs, you can get your money's worth watching Friday night's game.

Sep 06, 2024 11:38 AM #84

@Crimsonorblue22 The absence of Sneed will not be noticeable after a few games. Spags will get the DBs to stop trying to tackle by diving behind the runners. I hope....

Balt gave up on using Henry in the 2nd half b/c the Chiefs were up by 2 scores. Remember the Titans game in the playoffs a few years back? Same thing. A good lead can negate his dominance.

Sep 06, 2024 12:00 PM #85

Couple of observations:

While Xavier got two TDS, Rice is most important WR for Chiefs offense.

Nick B was lost, not a good start, Gay was missed. KC needs athletic LBs.

Overall DBs did a good job without Sneed.

Ravens are very tough and legit.

LB was a position of concern for me coming into the season. I thought they mostly played well. Helped stop the run. Bolton looked like a turtle on the Likely touchdown play though.

Sep 06, 2024 03:08 PM #87

Bolton needs to step up big time, he just looked so slow out there. The tight ends were blowing him away. If has another game like that, he needs to be demoted to special teams. That was one of the worst performances I’ve seen in a long time from a linebacker.

Sep 06, 2024 03:11 PM #88

Well the Ravens win was exciting and frustrating. Jackson had a lot of opportunities to beat KC on the last drive. Did everyone see Coach Harbaugh signal for a two point conversion before the TD was overturned? I sure wish I knew what play was going to be called. Henry up the middle? Play/action for Jackson to run wide or pass. Wow, that would have been fun. Next up, Cincy. I was surprised the Chiefs get another home game for this game.

Sep 06, 2024 04:44 PM #89

Fun game. I won't be online as much for football games this year, especially the Chiefs as I'm trying to enjoy time with my mom who is really getting up in years at this point. Plus being on twitter and such during games really brings out more of my negative side.

Sep 06, 2024 06:45 PM #90

@AsadZ Jones got pooped. Lamar to many lil easy passes and to many easy runs up the gut. We gave them the easy ones. Designed? They easily used the clock and got the ball where they wanted. We were super lucky. I miss Snead.

Sep 06, 2024 07:57 PM #91

Willie Gay’s athleticism is missed. Bolton got exposed.

Sep 06, 2024 09:59 PM #92

@BShark Understood, hope you can watch highlights and stuff

Sep 06, 2024 10:01 PM #93

@Crimsonorblue22 It appears that this years' D will be more like Spag's typical teams who develop and gel over course of the season. Last year was an anomaly.

Sep 06, 2024 10:01 PM #94

I've always used ESPN for stats during and after the games. Mahomes passing was 20/28 for 291 yds. What do you say the average is? I've always measured the average by completions, but this year, ESPN is using Yards divided by Attempts. Average yds per completion means something useful; average yds per attempt doesn't mean very much.

Sep 06, 2024 10:03 PM #95

@stoptheflop I thought average was always total yards divided by attempts

Sep 07, 2024 12:05 AM #96

Sep 07, 2024 01:20 PM #99

There is an average yards per attempt and an average yards per completion, but to be honest I never look at either. For me it’s about ~~total yards, TDs, and third down conversion percentage.~~ nah it’s about marveling over Mahomes. He’s ruined me for other sports even. Fanboy here.

Sep 07, 2024 02:17 PM #100

@AsadZ I hope so!

An update on the Peacock NFL watching experience…

Insert as many profanities as possible here…absolute horseshit. I’m on the west coast, so couldn’t really catch the game live to start. I tried to watch a replay hours after the game ended, and even tried to watch a replay this morning. NOPE!

Not available. Incredible. WTF kinda service is this? Surely I’m not the only human on the planet that can’t always watch a game live.

Cancelling with extreme prejudice.

I think it was Peacock stream only--- didn't even check

Sep 07, 2024 09:47 PM #106

Well my Pack took a Major blow with love spraining his MCL - - last play of the fricken game. They are hoping three-four weeks , shoot e don't have any an back up - -with two noodles. We could very easily be 0-5 -- -that's is he is only out 3-4 weeks.

Shouldn't been in that position anyways traded blow for blow with Philly- - our penalties just killed us , 10 penal , - -had a 38 yd TD called back because of one - -then you add not cashing in on forced TO"s w had two INT's and a recovered fumble - -deep in Philly territory and only got a couple field goals -- not going to cut it - maybe we get lucky

Oops, ranting about the Peacock experience for the Eagles-Packers game Friday.

The Chiefs I saw on NBC. Whew!

Sep 08, 2024 04:14 AM #108

@jayballer67 was talking chiefs

Sep 09, 2024 12:44 PM #109

What do you think about Brady in the new role as a commentator

Sep 09, 2024 02:06 PM #110

Texans vs Colts was the most entertaining game yesterday in my opinion.

Sep 09, 2024 02:08 PM #111

What about Panthers? Sorry to see such talented QB in Bryce Young’s career being in jeopardy when staff is totally inept.

Sep 09, 2024 09:07 PM #112

Did anyone hear about Tyreek Hill getting detained and handcuffed on his way to the game.

Then he scored 80 yd TD.

Unbelievable.

Sep 10, 2024 04:39 AM #113

Poor Cheetah. Hate to see that happen to anybody.

Sep 10, 2024 12:04 PM #114

@rockchalkjayhawk Caleous Campbell (sp) was cuffed too, when he tried to help Tyreek out - he should’ve just called a lawyer. My understanding is the officer has been placed on administrative leave. And here is why- dickhead cop doesn’t understand people’s rights.

Kadarius Toney was signed by Browns after their pathetic loss to Cowboys

Sep 10, 2024 10:24 PM #116

Deshawn Watson trade is shaping out to be one of the worst in recent history.

Damn, Browns gave 3 1st round picks and more to Texans and signed him for over $200M, what a waste.

Sep 10, 2024 10:36 PM #117

Speaking of Deshawn...anybody see that he's accused of yet another sexual assault? I need more fingers and toes to count em all.

Sep 10, 2024 11:59 PM #118

@rockchalkjayhawk Unbelievable

This trade could not have worked out any better for Texans, jackpot

Sep 11, 2024 01:18 AM #119

@AsadZ I like their new coach as well. Demeco Ryans seems to have things cooking.

Sep 13, 2024 01:19 PM #120

Did you guys see the hit on Tua? My goodness I honestly think he should retire but why didn’t he slide. He had the first down yardage easily

Sep 13, 2024 07:13 PM #121

Looks like Hollywood is done cookin. shoulder surgery. out for months. eff.

Sep 13, 2024 07:19 PM #122

@rockchalkjayhawk Someone else will pick up the slack. If Worthy can catch the ball - nobody can catch him.

Sep 13, 2024 08:05 PM #123

@rockchalkjayhawk That’s a tough blow

Sep 13, 2024 08:07 PM #124

Concern with Worthy is his lack of size, he is only 160 lbs

Thus Chiefs have to be careful on how they use him on offense, he can’t be put in situations where he get many hits.

Sep 13, 2024 08:56 PM #125

@kjayhawks That was brutal

I hope he doesn’t get any serious side effects

Head injuries are scary

Sep 13, 2024 10:14 PM #126

I wonder if the Chiefs bring in another deep threat WR somehow. Wouldn’t surprise me.

Sep 14, 2024 01:13 AM #127

The Chiefs have 3 WRs on the practice squad, Nikko Rimigio, Justyn Ross, and Montrell Washington. I'd like to see Ross get a few weeks and just finally break out of the problems his 2 yr foot injury caused him. But it will probably be whoever shows best combo of speed and route running to give pressure opposite Worthy.

Sep 15, 2024 08:28 PM #128

A few upsets today.

Ravens going down at home to Raiders.

Niners going down.

How about Saints knocking off Dak & boys.

Sep 15, 2024 08:33 PM #129

Let's go Chiefs. Please throw the ball down field in this second series.

Sep 15, 2024 08:46 PM #130

@stoptheflop or this series! šŸ˜‚ long game.

Sep 15, 2024 08:54 PM #131

Wow.

Worthy....

Speed.....

Sep 15, 2024 08:55 PM #132

Nice 3rd series. Rashee Rice with the nice sidelines TD catch.

Sep 15, 2024 09:11 PM #133

TOs Damn

Sep 15, 2024 09:11 PM #134

2 TOs just isn't going to work against the Bengals

Sep 15, 2024 09:13 PM #135

Not lookin good

Bengals have scored on every drive

Sep 15, 2024 09:21 PM #136

Bad clock management on accepting the opi

Sep 15, 2024 09:23 PM #137

But maybe it works out. Don’t need to burn much clock to score and have a one point lead at half and the ball after the half.

Sep 15, 2024 09:33 PM #138

Nostradamus I am not

Sep 15, 2024 10:00 PM #139

Nice opening drive. Running the ball between the tackles. Got the lead, now the defense needs another 3 and out.

Sep 15, 2024 10:01 PM #140

Nice drive.

Bengals scored 10 pts off TOs, let's play a clean game now.

Sep 15, 2024 10:21 PM #141

So much about playing a clean game...

Sep 15, 2024 10:21 PM #142

Wow that was a great pick smh guess none of my teams can kick the turnover bug

Sep 15, 2024 10:21 PM #143

Sep 15, 2024 10:26 PM #144

Sep 15, 2024 10:27 PM #145

Sep 15, 2024 10:42 PM #146

Chiefs have a problem at LT

Sep 15, 2024 11:08 PM #147

Great game.

Butker....

Sep 15, 2024 11:09 PM #148

Butker is quickly becoming one of the greats

Sep 15, 2024 11:11 PM #149

Chiefs are 2-0 but they have to clean up a solve some issues

Sep 15, 2024 11:26 PM #150

@AsadZ no question but that’s the mark of a good team. Finding ways to win when they weren’t necessarily the best on that day. Really has been a staple the last 5 years.

Sep 15, 2024 11:32 PM #151

Butker is so money. I wish there had been a little less time on the clock at the end of the first half. I would like to have seen a 68 yard attempt.

Sep 15, 2024 11:41 PM #152

@dylans that last kick looked like it would’ve made it from 65 yards to me

Sep 16, 2024 12:42 AM #153

Butker said some controversial stuff over the summer, some of which I don’t agree with personally but man I am glad that he is a good dude in the locker room and he is a Chief

Sep 16, 2024 12:45 AM #154

@kjayhawks they got lucky today on 4th and 16 penalty

They need to fix several issues

LT is becoming a problem

Bengals came in with excellent game plans on both ends

Sep 16, 2024 12:50 AM #155

Shroud vs Caleb is a fascinating matchup

Sep 16, 2024 01:01 AM #156

@AsadZ ya, definitely have some issues to clear up but I wouldn’t want to be playing lights out in September. LT as you said is a huge issue at the moment, the linebackers continue to be less than impressive and turnovers have all been a problem.

Sep 16, 2024 01:35 AM #157

Nagy stinks. Poach coach K since Ku can’t have him!

Sep 16, 2024 02:45 AM #158

Caleb can ball. Especially impressive given WR2 is out and WR3 is on one leg

Sep 16, 2024 03:28 AM #159

@wissox we have something in Chicago!

Sep 16, 2024 11:09 AM #160

@AsadZ But, the previous play where the Chiefs passed for the first down, then had a penalty for hands to the face was "lucky" for the Bengals. I don't like when penalties make a difference in the game either, but it was clearly pass interference so it's worse if KC loses on a non-call.

Sep 16, 2024 12:13 PM #161

Fun game to watch but hopefully the OT play can improve

Sep 16, 2024 12:45 PM #162

@BShark the rookie KS was terrible, but he got very little help. I’m not sure why Andy didn’t have someone chip for him when it was obvious he was in over his head. Also Thuney was no help on a few of those rushes and he’s normally solid. The left side of the line was a mess.

Sep 16, 2024 12:48 PM #163

@stoptheflop If the refs had swallowed their whistles - which is what the bengals fans want on that one play, but forget about the play immediately prior- the Chiefs would have had a long completion on 4th down instead of a long pass interference call on the next play. It really changes nothing other than Mahomes crappy statistical output would have been slightly better.

Sep 16, 2024 12:54 PM #164

@FarmerJayhawk said in 2024 NFL Season:

Caleb can ball. Especially impressive given WR2 is out and WR3 is on one leg

? Did he look good, stats are terrible. I thought he had flashes in the pre-season. I’m banking on him being good to great at some point for purely selfish reasons. lol bought a couple of his rookie cards - I treat it like stock for athletes. Like some ipo’s though out the gate is as high as it gets (The Panthers Young comes to mind).

Sep 16, 2024 01:09 PM #165

@dylans KS looks a little like O Brown did. He doesn't slide to the outside fast enough. Thuney was trying to help but KS didn't give enough space.

Definitely should have kept a TE to help on the left (were those weird formations supposed to help?). Could have done a screen pass after steering the DE back into KS.

Sep 16, 2024 01:14 PM #166

@FarmerJayhawk Jury is out. It's kind of malpractice of Poles to get this QB and not provide an offensive line for him. He's gonna get killed back there.

Sep 16, 2024 01:24 PM #167

I seem to remember last year before the draft Williams compared himself to Pat Mahomes. I remember thinking at the time tht I hoped he wouldn't start right off the bat and instead, like PM, would get a year of watching and learning.

It gets a lot of play but I still think Reid and Veach don't get enough credit for keeping Alex Smith as PM's mentor. Bears needed a vet to do that. (They could have even signed our backup, Carson Wentz, a hugely experienced guy who could have given them adequate play.)

Sep 16, 2024 02:24 PM #168

Pacheco has a fractured fibula, will likely go to IR. We have Steele and Perine right now. Here are available free agents (Chiefs could pick someone from another team's practice squad, but there are some restrictions on that, I think). I'd sign Cook or McKinnon.

Best Running Back Free Agents, 2024:

Dalvin Cook

Latavius Murray

Kareem Hunt

Jerick McKinnon

Melvin Gordon

Alex Armah

Eno Benjamin

Salvon Ahmed

Giovanni Ricci

Josh Kelley

DeWayne McBride

Matt Breida

James Robinson
Royce Freeman
Isaiah Spiller

Sep 16, 2024 04:06 PM #169

Pacheco! Damn!

Sep 16, 2024 04:17 PM #170

@dylans yeah he had some terrific throws against a good defense. He largely stayed within himself, didn’t play too much hero ball until the 4th when we had to be one dimensional. The run game was non-existent and also DJ was really our only effective receiver

Sep 16, 2024 06:10 PM #171

@mayjay For the most part Chiefs avoided injuries last year, but they are piling up this year, WR1 and RB1 are down.

If he passes physical, I'd consider McKinnon since he knows playbook and can transition quickly.

Sep 16, 2024 07:26 PM #172

So let's talk about the engine that's missing a piston...

Travis Kelce is invisible this year. Four catches for 39 yards in the first two games.

What gives? Taylor wear him out, or is he just getting old and in the way? Saving him for later in the season?

Odd for sure.

Sep 16, 2024 07:59 PM #173

@rockchalkjayhawk I think all of the above.

Sep 16, 2024 08:28 PM #174

Pacheco out 6 to 8 wks, acc to ESPN. KC looking at K Hunt.

$6 mil in cap space, BTW.

Sep 16, 2024 08:32 PM #175

Surprised Hunt would want to come back to KC.

Odd for sure.

He was double teamed most of the game and Mahomes didn’t force it to Kelce other than that one INT. It’s nice having some receiving options!

Of note - it was Kelce’s first game with less than 3 receptions since 2018!

Sep 16, 2024 09:52 PM #177

Per Steven A people saw more Taylor than Kelce....

Sep 17, 2024 01:17 AM #178

I believe Kelse is getting fewer targets as a way of making sure he's available for big games and the playoffs. It's a long, long season. At 34, 3-4 targets the first 10-12 games seems about right. Or, maybe trainer Mickey was right when he told Rocky "women weaken legs."

Sep 17, 2024 01:54 AM #179

@rockchalkjayhawk Hunt knows KC is a well oiled machine at this point I’m sure he was calling as soon as the news broke. He was let go because he was dishonest with coach Reid about what happened.

Sep 17, 2024 05:23 PM #180

Sep 18, 2024 12:07 PM #185

The standings for the league are so symetrical:

9 teams 2-0

1 team 2-1

12 teams 1-1

1 team 1-2

9 teams 0-2

Top 16 are exactly the opposite of bottom 16.

I would bet this is the last time the records are mirrored like that.

Sep 22, 2024 08:01 PM #190

Well I got to feel a little teensy bit encouraged with the Pack playing without Jordon. We have won both our games, were 2-1, now I realize our opponents haven't been world beaters but hey, every game w win without our starting QB is a bonus.

Beat the Titans today 30-14 ans sacked their QB - - -EIGHT TIMES- ---EIGHT. -- Tennessee had the # 1 defense coming into today and w put up right at 400 yards of offense so I'll take that for sure.- -Much tougher next week we got Minnesota at home , but talk is Jordon will probably be back- - can't asak for much more out of our back up QB

Sep 22, 2024 09:35 PM #191

Yeah good win for Packers

Sep 23, 2024 12:43 AM #192

Mahomes just looks a little off so far this season

Sep 23, 2024 12:44 AM #193

@kjayhawks I think he suits up in #6 for Kansas on Saturday

Sep 23, 2024 12:49 AM #194

@nuleafjhawk he ain’t that bad, doesn’t have 9 turnovers in 3.5 games. He’s a lot like Brett Favre to me, he’ll throw some picks but also some pretty crazy TDs. At one point before Favre retired he had the record for the most TD passes and INTs. If JD had a 65% completion percentage and 1 to 1 TD to INT ratio we’d be undefeated.

Sep 23, 2024 12:53 AM #195

I’m not sure Collingsworth has watched a Chiefs game all year. He’s talking about the O line and how Mahomes has no worries about rushers coming on the edges.

Sep 23, 2024 12:54 AM #196

@kjayhawks c'mon man. You know I have to make some stupid remark!

But, yeah - Mahomes does seem a little off so far.

Sep 23, 2024 12:56 AM #197

Both roughing the passer calls were a J-O-K-E difference is it kept a Falcons drive going

Sep 23, 2024 12:59 AM #198

That did not look like a touchdown. No review?

Sep 23, 2024 01:00 AM #199

Sneed is being missed

They are giving many big plays

Sep 23, 2024 01:01 AM #200

Huge chunk plays. That’s bad.

Sep 23, 2024 01:24 AM #201

Jeez. Mahomes not on his game with accuracy today.

Sep 23, 2024 01:32 AM #202

@rockchalkjayhawk he really hasn’t looked great all season thus far, neither has Kelce. Guess as long as they keep winning, should start to play better. As I’ve said you don’t what to be playing your best ball in September especially in the nfl.

Sep 23, 2024 01:33 AM #203

@rockchalkjayhawk you'd think someone who's won consecutive Super Bowls would be a little more accurate

Sep 23, 2024 02:16 AM #204

Sep 23, 2024 02:56 AM #205

Sep 23, 2024 03:00 AM #206

uh oh...

Sep 23, 2024 03:01 AM #207

Thx Nick Bolton! Chiefs are winning close ones.

Sep 23, 2024 03:12 AM #208

Wow. what a weird ass game!

Glad the Chiefs held on.

Sep 23, 2024 03:12 AM #209

Of course they’re gonna blame the refs with that non call in the end zone like Atlanta didn’t get a ton calls tonight. The last 3 penalties on the chiefs were super weak or flat out wrong. Hope Rice is okay, Mahomes may have tweak his knee on a weird slide there as well

Sep 23, 2024 11:23 AM #210

They are missing Hollywood, no other receiver has separated except Rice. They need someone to step up.

Mahomes needs to play better, sometimes he gets into a habit of become too cute.

He needs to be patient and go for long drives as Defenses are not giving big plays with 2 deep all the time.

Sep 23, 2024 12:55 PM #211

@AsadZ In my humble fan opinion, he's thinking too much. We all know what happens when football players think. A couple of years ago he looked like he was playing more instinctually. I think he needs to go out there and let the big dog eat. Ooops. Wrong sport.

Sep 23, 2024 03:25 PM #212

Some high notes from the Chiefs win…

Kelce matched his season total with four catches and 30+ yards.

Rice was awesome.

I wanted to say Butker, then remembered he missed an extra point!

Steele has some Pacheco in him. Hard nosed yards.

Sep 23, 2024 03:34 PM #213

@rockchalkjayhawk don't forget Bolton. He's an anchor on defense. Even for an ex Tiger.

Sep 23, 2024 10:07 PM #214

How about Vikings offense and Darnold.

I cannot believe he is same high pick QB that bounced around for a few years and is finally playing in a system that suits his skills.

Sep 24, 2024 12:06 AM #215

D really stepped up after Q1.

4-0 but all games have been very very close.

Sep 30, 2024 12:37 AM #230

i don't know how the Chiefs keep winning playing like this, but i'm happy about it!

Like the KU team, something seems off with the Chiefs. I for sure notice that defenses are putting more pressure on Mahomes this season. That's forcing him to make a quick decision, and he doesn't seem to be doing a good job of that. OR, his receivers aren't open and he's stuck with no good options. Hard to tell if that's true with TV angles. But he's making bad decisions again.

Some things now seem obvious:

-- Kareem Hunt is the new starting RB. That may be the last we see of the UCLA rookie Steele. The fumble seemed abnormal. I for one don't like how he holds the football with his dangerous running style, but he's exciting of course!

-- With Rice maybe out for the year (that's a HUGE hit!), we're gonna need a WR to step up. Who's it gonna be? Free agent? Anybody notice JuJu on the field today?

-- Cut Skyy Moore immediately. he serves no purpose. Surely a cheap veteran can do better? (I know, i know, cap hit, blah blah blah).

Anyway, a road win is a road win. Always happy about that!! Just seems like it may be tough to skate by like this the rest of the year. Hope i'm wrong.

Sep 30, 2024 02:01 AM #231

@rockchalkjayhawk JuJu is a good blocker, has been non-existent catching the ball though. Skyy is not an NFL receiver, bummer. Hands of Steele, grip of butter needs not touch the ball again with Hunt running like that! Mahomes is off, but still makes it happen. I hope they start clicking soon on offense.

Sep 30, 2024 03:31 PM #232

That pass to worthy was worthy of another one! Kelce back in the groove too!

Sep 30, 2024 09:38 PM #233

OK, why on earth do they have TWO MNF games on at the same time????

Can't they let us watch em both back to back???

Sep 30, 2024 09:52 PM #234

@rockchalkjayhawk who?

Sep 30, 2024 10:08 PM #235

Kareem Hunt looked better than what I had expected. I hope with reps he will get even better.

Sky Moore is turning out to be a huge bust.

I think Chiefs made a mistake by giving him special teams duties, punt returns in his rookie year and drops/fumbles completely shattered his confidence.

I cannot believe he is same high pick QB that bounced around for a few years and is finally playing in a system that suits his skills.

This shows you how much being drafted into a good organization is worth. Darnold, Geno Smith and Baker Mayfield all look like good QBs in a good system.

I’m a bit disappointed with Chiefs OL play.

On too many occasions they are letting pressure get applied on Mahomes, pocket getting collapsed.

Hope coaches can get this fixed

Oct 01, 2024 10:24 PM #242

@AsadZ Mahomes had a hard time with the Stunts the line were running well into the game. He seemed to figure it out late and started finding the passing lanes. The OT situation is not great…

Oct 01, 2024 10:59 PM #243

OK Chiefs, it's Tuesday...so what the hell is going on with Rashee Rice? They can't figure out his injury by now? What's the hold up on the report?

Oct 01, 2024 11:37 PM #244

@rockchalkjayhawk They are doing more tests and don't expect answers until next week. I suspect the Hollywood Brown injury needing unexpected surgery 5 weeks after his injury has made them very cautious about making sure how extensive the injury is before deciding how to proceed (with both treatment and the roster). From what I remember from certain painful events of long ago, they may also be waiting for swelling to go down because it can make it hard to determine the true extent of soft tissue damage.

Ouch on the long ago soft tissues injuries.

Next week? Good gravy! That doesn't make me less impatient :)

I'm hoping for the best.

@rockchalkjayhawk If Reid says it’s week to week, settle in. He will be out all year. lol. Week to week is the kiss of death šŸ’€

Oct 02, 2024 11:19 PM #247

Yea, still a bunch of cryptic stuff out there about Rashee. Maybe he’ll go to Germany for treatment just like Christian McCaffrey did!

Oct 02, 2024 11:39 PM #248

@rockchalkjayhawk I’ve known some people go to Germany for neck surgery. They can use replacement discs that are much more advanced than the ones used here. Ironically the discs are manufactured in the US. Beats fusion by a long shot. Not sure what McCaffrey is having done though.

Ha that’s crazy! I think you can simply get treatment in Europe that’s not legal yet in the good ole US of A?

McCaffrey was getting some work done on his Achilles issues. Assuming some sort of injections he can’t get here. Who knows.

Oct 07, 2024 12:04 AM #250

Caleb Williams is getting better week by week

He made a few excellent throws today

Texans looked dangerous, many weapons on Offense

Oct 07, 2024 12:34 AM #251

They apparently lost their top WR today @AsadZ

Oct 07, 2024 04:08 AM #252

For the record, those Houston uniforms today are in the running for worst all time!

Oct 07, 2024 11:26 AM #253

@rockchalkjayhawk I saw dat, injuries are tough

Oct 07, 2024 10:45 PM #254

A clear recovery timetable for Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice is still not in place. After further testing on his injured knee Monday, though, the worst-case scenario has been avoided.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports Rice will need an LCL repair, but he adds that may be the only ligament requiring such a procedure. Rice’s Week 4 injury was initially feared to be an ACL tear, but it appears that is not the case. While Rapoport notably indicates the second-year wideout is expected to miss the remainder of the season, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Rice’s recovery timeline will be much shorter than originally expected.

Oct 08, 2024 02:39 AM #255

Nice to see Mahomes playing well tonight, the pick may have had a bit too much on it but it hit his receiver in the hands

Oct 08, 2024 03:14 AM #256

@rockchalkjayhawk hopefully just 3 months. If so he’ll be at full strength early (all?) next season. Yay!

The pass catchers played well against the Saints, but I’d still be in favor of adding a WR if they can get someone that can help on an expiring contract like Cooper (Browns). Or poach a practice squad guy like Metchie (Texans)

I'm a bit disappointed that he's likely out for the year. Speculation late last week was that he would be back. Sucks. So yea, add a WR! And a JuJu sighting! nice.

Aikman was high on Xavier, saying he may be a stud be season's end.

Oct 08, 2024 02:56 PM #261

It appears that Saleh has been fired after 2-3 start.

Aaron Rogers experiment has not worked out so far.

Let’s see how they do from here on out.

Oct 08, 2024 04:06 PM #262

Was it Saleh who threw those picks the other day?

Oct 08, 2024 05:29 PM #263

Sounds like we'll get a Rashee update today. He's under the knife. Confusing as heck, but they will get a bird's eye view of the damage.

And also, why again is Skyy Moore still on the team? Dropped yet another ball on a kickoff.

Oct 08, 2024 07:27 PM #264

and here we go, official word:

OCTOBER 8: Rice’s Tuesday procedure was a success, veteran insider Jordan Schultz reports. He will indeed miss the remainder of the campaign after the surgery repaired his LCL in addition to his hamstring. As hoped, though, no such repairs were needed on Rice’s ACL or meniscus and a full recovery is expected. Rice remains attached to his rookie contract through 2026.

Oct 08, 2024 09:56 PM #265

Chiefs have left so many points off in the red zone,

With strong D, imagine if Offense starts to capitalize, they can become unstoppable.

Oct 09, 2024 12:26 AM #266

@rockchalkjayhawk Saleh demoted Hackett to give the play-calling duties to another guy, and then got fired. Escorted out by security. Woody talked with Aaron Rodgers before the firing but says AR had no input.

I believe that denial as much as I believe that I'm the Easter Bunny.

Oct 15, 2024 01:57 PM #267

Brock Purdy & the Niners are 1.5 pt favorites over the Chiefs Sunday. That doesn't seem right to me. The Niners are 3-3 with losses to the Rams and Cardinals. I fully expect the Chiefs to dominate this. Of course when I expect a win-well you know...

The Niners are slightly off their game so far this season. But like the Chiefs they’ve had a ton of significant injuries to deal with. They may be without yet another starting RB (CMC now Mason) this week. Btw, if Mason was on KC, you’d love him. Kinda like Pacheco.

But their base model is still exceptional, and they’re at home, so the 1.5 point spread isn’t a total surprise. They have a ton of offensive weapons. I don’t expect either team to dominate.

Should be a close game IMO.

Oct 15, 2024 07:06 PM #269

I read today that Dominick Puni was really doing well for the forty-niners. - -Getting a lot of Praise from their Head Coach and players.-- Said he was on track for pro bowl-,- --talking about how he can play ALL five positions in O-Line - -he hasn't given up a QB sack through six games or a touch - -other players are really impressed by him Proud of our boy- - -ROCK CJALK great job Dominick

Oct 18, 2024 07:28 PM #270

4 long years of Brock Purdy standing in the pocket and pummeling the Jayhawks. And now, we have to endure Mr. Irrelevant as the Niners QB, who are still 1.5 pt favorites over the 5-0 Chiefs. l'm sure hoping Mahomes has a great day and the KC defense rips Purdy apart.

Oct 18, 2024 09:38 PM #271

Purdy is playing at a very high level.

This year he is keeping drives alive by running and making 1st downs.

Chiefs D have their work cut out for them.

Oct 19, 2024 01:56 PM #272

Niners are now 2 pt favs. The 5-0 Chiefs are underdogs to the 3-3 Niners. Please don't tell me this would be a good loss for the Chiefs. I hope Chris Jones and company break Purdy into many small pieces.

Yea, I think this game mostly comes down to how well the Chiefs D plays. The two defenses are comparable, but the 49ers aren’t as strong as they’ve been in past seasons.

I sadly think that Bosa goes ape shit on the edges. If that results in a turnover or two, that could be the difference.

Otherwise, the 49ers offense has the edge. Third Down And Jajuan (Jennings) is out, so that helps. They’re on their third kicker, too.

Living in the Bay Area, I can tell you that the 49ers and their fans are fired up.

Go Chiefs!

Oct 19, 2024 09:31 PM #274

@rockchalkjayhawk one has to keep in mind revenge factor helping Niners, they most likely circled this game when schedule came out.

Oct 21, 2024 02:33 AM #275

The Jets are such a shit show, pretty much have Green Bay’s offense from a few years and the defense isn’t living up the hype either.

Oct 21, 2024 09:30 PM #276

JuJu out against Raiders.

Jaylen Watson done for the season.

Injuries are taking a toll.

Oct 21, 2024 11:58 PM #277

Oct 23, 2024 01:29 PM #281

The jets thought Rodgers was their miracle man. I was glad to see him go, Aaron is all about me , me , me -just full of drama. - Now the Jets see what they got - -I'm perfectly happy with Jordon Love , kind of a loose cannon but in time he will get that straightened out.- -Rogers is done, he is past his best years and just needs to retire

The Jeets thought as soon as they got him it was oh my God we are going to the Super Bowl -- ummm NOPE Aaron was really good in his prime - - -now not so much.

Oct 23, 2024 07:55 PM #282

DeAndre Hopkins in da house!
He got any juice left in the tank?

Oct 23, 2024 09:32 PM #283

I think he is not going to deep threat nor will get many yards after the catch, however, from what I have heard he is still a very solid route runner who does not drop many passes and will be good for intermediate passing attack.

Oct 23, 2024 10:26 PM #284

Can't hurt at least, right?
If he can improvise like Kelce, maybe he and Mahomes will have a nice connection.

Oct 24, 2024 06:17 PM #285

Looks like Skyy Moore has been placed on IR with a mysterious "core muscle" injury.

There must be cap implications. Not sure why they haven't just cut him outright.

Oct 24, 2024 10:38 PM #286

@rockchalkjayhawk Skyy counts against the cap while on IR. They could save 700k by cutting him. I’m not sure what they see in him. Can’t catch. Too small to be a great blocker. He’s not fast, so Mecole is better on jet sweeps. The RB room is full so no place for him there as a gadget guy. Probably time to cut bait and see if he can get his head straight elsewhere.

Oct 25, 2024 03:14 AM #287

Watching two refs looking right at one of the easiest face mask calls in NFL history. They wanted to be sure the Rams covered the spread in this one.

Oct 28, 2024 02:50 AM #293

At some point you’d think the defensive backs would realize that batting it up in the air is a wrong move. Either knock it to the ground or catch it.

Oct 28, 2024 02:51 AM #294

What is the over/under of McCarthy making it thru this season as Cowboys HC?

Oct 28, 2024 01:24 PM #295

lol I’d love to be in the film study room when the coach realizes that the guy that tipped the ball to the Commanders was jawing with the crowd with his back turned to the field when the play started. I’m guessing Herm is right and he’ll get fined or suspended for conduct detrimental to the team.

Nov 03, 2024 05:11 PM #296

Denver v. Baltimore is getting ready to start. KC still has to play Denver twice and the Denver defense is number 1 in several categories. Oh yeah, and Bo Nix is playing pretty darn well. So, Bucs, then the Broncs; an interesting 8 days for KC. And the last day for trades is Tuesday.

Nov 03, 2024 05:37 PM #297

Sounds like the Chiefs are still rumored to be looking for a WR and CB.

Nov 03, 2024 06:34 PM #298

Crazy Denver play with Bo Nix catching a pass for TD

Nov 03, 2024 09:16 PM #299

Denver got spanked pretty hard

Nov 03, 2024 10:38 PM #300

Cowboys are 3-5 now

Will McCarthy be fired by Jerry

Nov 03, 2024 10:45 PM #301

@AsadZ I'm not a Cowboys fan, but maybe they should fire Jerry.

Nov 03, 2024 10:49 PM #302

Jawaan Taylor restructured his contract to free up $5.5 million so the Chiefs could trade for Hopkins and Uche. He is playing much better this year with far fewer penalties. Of course, with LT position in chaos other teams probably made the Chief's left side the main point of attack.

Nov 03, 2024 11:07 PM #303

@nuleafjhawk Jerry has been the issue since he got rid of Johnson. They probably win 4 or 5 super bowls in the 90s with him.

Nov 04, 2024 12:18 AM #304

@kjayhawks I don't care what they do as long as they leave Andy Reid alone.

Nov 04, 2024 12:32 AM #305

@nuleafjhawk ain’t no chance in Hell Reid would go to that shit show. With his age Kansas City is likely his last stop. I hope it’s still a few years away but I could a see him retiring if a 3 peat happens.

Nov 04, 2024 12:50 AM #306

@kjayhawks I'd be ok with him retiring with a 3-peat. Yes, he definitely has my permission

Nov 04, 2024 04:04 AM #307

I think the Colts should seriously consider playing Jason Bean. He was clearly their best QB in the preseason

Nov 05, 2024 02:10 AM #308

Mahomes had a near perfect half, Worthy not knowing where he was on the field cost them 7 points 10-7 at the half

Nov 05, 2024 02:33 AM #309

@kjayhawks Mahomes isn't as mobile as he used to be. He's been watching the game on his ass as much as I have tonight

Nov 05, 2024 02:34 AM #310

@nuleafjhawk well they need to maybe try to block someone especially Vera. Dude has been a problem

Nov 05, 2024 03:06 AM #311

The 3 peat may have just ended with Mahomes injured

Nov 05, 2024 03:06 AM #312

@kjayhawks it's amazing that a guy that big can even move

Nov 05, 2024 03:07 AM #313

@kjayhawks they're going to trade for Jason Bean and he will lead us to the promised land

Nov 05, 2024 03:25 AM #314

It looked bad but I guess it’s not lol, DHOP is a huge help

Nov 05, 2024 04:07 AM #315

The chiefs are the exact opposite of KU at the end of games lol pretty ugly defense second half letting up 17 points but they have been great all year.

Nov 05, 2024 04:14 AM #316

Nice to see a 291 yard with 3 TDs classic Mahomes game. I think when they get Smith-Schuster back it will help. Worthy has to work on catching the football and tapping his feet, had 2 tonight that should’ve been caught. Hes got the speed just needs some more work.

Nov 05, 2024 04:25 AM #317

Pat won one w/a bad ankle

Nov 05, 2024 02:25 PM #320

@kjayhawks That ball was underthrown, causing him to have to run backwards. PM and Worthy need to refresh their timing.

Nov 05, 2024 08:58 PM #321

not seeing any trades by the Chiefs. hmmm. wonder if we somehow pick up a few additions?

Nov 06, 2024 01:26 AM #322

@rockchalkjayhawk Xavien Howard is still out there. Pretty slim pickings after the trade deadline. Maybe a veteran will get released close to the end of the season.

Nov 06, 2024 03:02 AM #323

@rockchalkjayhawk Mike Edwards was released if we want to bring back yet another former Chief.

Nov 06, 2024 12:14 PM #324

Khalil Herbert, former KU RB, got traded by Beras. I did not realize he was still playing in the league.

Nov 06, 2024 12:37 PM #325

@AsadZ There's a lot of Bears fans really miffed at his non use this year. He's been a productive back the last couple of years and just not used this year.

Nov 08, 2024 04:05 AM #329

The Ravens and Bengals are putting on a show. The ravens used a crown royal bag for inspiration for tonight’s uniforms.

Nov 14, 2024 10:24 PM #330

Uh oh. Butker hurt, headed to IR.

This left knee injury will require surgery, per Pelissero, as Butker will have an arthroscopic procedure to address the issue. The Chiefs made Butker the NFL’s highest-paid kicker this offseason, re-signing him to a $6.4MM-per-year deal. While Butker’s long-term status is not in question, his availability for this year’s homestretch is.

Nov 14, 2024 10:25 PM #331

As a result, the Chiefs plan to sign Spencer Shrader off the Jets’ practice squad, Pelissero adds.

Nov 15, 2024 12:35 AM #332

This just in: Instead of relocating to a new stadium, Chiefs will stay at Arrowhead but they are changing their demand for renovations. Now they want Jackson County to pay half the costs of adding an orthopaedic surgical ward next to the home clubhouse.

Nov 15, 2024 01:14 AM #333

Meniscus- should be back for the playoffs- maybe the last couple games as well. Just when they started to get healthier as a team too! - pop, juju, and Omenihu are practicing - juju should play.

Nov 17, 2024 06:25 PM #334

Justin Tucker with two misses already today

Nov 24, 2024 06:38 PM #335

Chiefs. See how many penalties they can get. Might be a record.

Nov 24, 2024 07:03 PM #336

The amount of penalties in this game is ridiculous, refs want it under that 11 point spread seems pretty obvious at this point. Nice to see Patrick have a solid half 19/24 206 yards and 2 TDs. 3 of his 5 incompletions hit his receivers hands.

Nov 24, 2024 07:21 PM #337

Not able to watch today

Looking at score card Bryce Young already has 177 throwing yards

Nov 24, 2024 07:57 PM #338

Doing good, nothing easy, a lot of penalties, both ways

Nov 24, 2024 08:31 PM #339

Taylor has got to go, he either get a penalty or beat on every single play.

Nov 24, 2024 08:45 PM #340

Fork the Chiefs. They're done. I'll never watch them again. Overrated, overpaid punks

Nov 24, 2024 08:45 PM #341

PI PI PI PI....

Nov 24, 2024 08:47 PM #342

Quite possibly the worst the pass interference call in NFL history.

Nov 24, 2024 08:47 PM #343

And the same exact play but no call
For the chiefs

Nov 24, 2024 08:48 PM #344

How far can this new guy kick?

Nov 24, 2024 08:53 PM #345

Yes he can!

Nov 24, 2024 08:54 PM #346

@nuleafjhawk You’ve said that about both KU football and the Chiefs several times. Either put up or shut up

Nov 24, 2024 08:56 PM #347

@kjayhawks it's my secret weapon. Duh

Nov 24, 2024 09:04 PM #348

Hey, good for the new kicker! I was hoping he'd get early chances in case it came down to a game winner. and it did!

Boy, the Chiefs sure are living on the edge these days. that was a sloppy mess.

Nov 24, 2024 09:06 PM #349

I wasn’t even remotely worried with that much time left. The defense has lost it edge and the offensive line is getting worse by the week it seems. The refs seems determined that the chiefs get all the tic tac calls against them and want to be sure they can’t be blamed

Nov 24, 2024 09:26 PM #350

I cannot make of this team.

Are they living on the edge with eye on playoffs or are they not that good.

Although every opponent has their game with Chiefs circled as SB game.

Any update on Hollywood?

Nov 24, 2024 09:37 PM #351

@AsadZ they have been playing pretty good teams outside of today but Young has turned a corner and panthers are much better than their record IMO. They are like KU basketball, they’re going to get everyone’s best shot. Other teams are tired of hearing about them you can rest assured of that much.

Nov 24, 2024 10:36 PM #352

Watching highlights of some games

Bears came so close but couldn’t finish in OT, Caleb held the ball just too long

Cowboys vs Commanders must have increased blood pressure of special teams coaches on both sides

Nov 24, 2024 10:38 PM #353

Once again I am sad

Nov 25, 2024 12:25 PM #354

@FarmerJayhawk I feel bad for Bears.

Its like Bears have an Omen, just can't get a W

Nov 25, 2024 01:27 PM #355

@AsadZ @FarmerJayhawk will be interesting to see what the Bears do this offseason, feel like their typical course of action would be to fire everyone. But I honestly think continuity would do them some good.

Nov 25, 2024 03:56 PM #356

NFC North is the strongest on the National side , you look we got Detroit 10-1 -Minnesota 9-2 - -and my GB Packers at 8-3- - -you best win every game or your gonna be toast.

I can't remember does the playoffs have 2 or 3 wild cards?- -I'm not sure if both wild cards could even come from the same division- I think it's two wild cards , you have your three division winners and then the two wild cards. Detroit is a handful

Nov 25, 2024 08:07 PM #357

@kjayhawks gotta fire Eberflus. This group is way too talented to lose 5 in a row. He’s also on his second DC and third OC halfway through year 3. It’s just not working.

Nov 25, 2024 08:36 PM #358

@SlimShaddy54 There are 3 wild cards, seeded 5, 6 and 7. They all play in the first round at the 3 lowest division winners (2, 3, 4) who are at home even if their W-L record is worse than the WC. 7 at 2, 6 at 3, 5 at 4. Top seed gets a bye, then plays the lowest seeded survivor of the 1st rd games.

No limit on how many WC teams come from any division. Just 3 best conference records after the div winners.

Nov 25, 2024 08:56 PM #359

@mayjay Thank you couldn't remember

Nov 28, 2024 08:47 PM #360

The Bears smh had the ball in field goal range to tie the game. Take a sack and lose 6 yards with 32 seconds to go. They fart around for 30 seconds to barely get the play off, which even if it was caught wasn’t getting the touchdown. Did all of this while sitting on a timeout smh just wow, they could’ve called a timeout and tried a 59 yarder to send it to OT.

Nov 28, 2024 11:54 PM #361

One of the worst clock management to close the game

I feel really sorry for Bears players and fans, they deserved to win this game

Their coach messed this up really badly

Nov 29, 2024 03:20 PM #362

Watching the Bears inept clock management made me realize how big of losers they are. That group will never win. Fire the coach and get someone to coach up Caleb - it is on the QB just as much as the coach in that moment so get him a good mentor. Losers making losing plays.

Nov 29, 2024 03:28 PM #363

@dylans @AsadZ The coach during post game said it all went according to plan and didn’t need to change anything. I was thinking maybe he would save his job and some continuity there but you can’t keep someone that stupid.

Dec 03, 2024 01:16 PM #364

That was some entertaining game between Broncos and Browns last night.

Dec 03, 2024 04:14 PM #365

@AsadZ Proof yet again that yardage stats don't correlate with W/L results.

Dec 03, 2024 04:30 PM #366

Big play team!

Dec 06, 2024 07:18 PM #367

Sounds like DJ Humphries is officially the staring left tackle on Sunday. Hope he can jump right back in and succeed!

Dec 08, 2024 01:47 AM #368

The Chiefs just can't have anything nice lately.

Wide receiver Mecole Hardman — who had been listed as questionable for Sunday’s game after suddenly being held out of practice on Friday — has been placed on the team’s Reserve/Injured list. He'll miss at least four games.

Dec 08, 2024 02:12 AM #369

@rockchalkjayhawk bummer

Dec 08, 2024 08:50 PM #370

Kadarius Toney just muffed a punt for his latest team, ending the Browns' last gasp attempt to come back against the Steelers.

Dec 08, 2024 11:40 PM #371

@mayjay I have several fond memories of Toney, he just can’t catch the ball consistently

Dec 09, 2024 12:06 AM #372

People talking about the chiefs getting calls, Bills keeping a heart beat off of some weak sauce PI calls

Dec 09, 2024 01:52 AM #373

This new offensive line isn’t looking good

Dec 09, 2024 02:01 AM #374

@kjayhawks Humphries probably hasn't played in that amount of noise before. Be patient. Things'll get better.

In other news, we will have infinite energy and world peace by midnight!

Dec 09, 2024 02:07 AM #375

@mayjay ya he is coming of a major injury, idk how that wasn’t at least defensive holding on that last play. Yes it was over throw but he held him all the way down the field. These refs sure suck if they are supposed to be favoring the chiefs

Dec 09, 2024 02:33 AM #376

Solid first half, nice to see the defense show up, they have been slacking recently.

Dec 09, 2024 04:19 AM #377

Wouldn’t be the chiefs without some late game drama. I’ll give the chargers a ton of credit they executed a near flawless second half. Super gutsy performance by Mahomes, dude got lit up repeatedly as the offensive line continues to struggle. That last first down scrambling and finding Travis was textbook while bouncing off a tackler. I hope Humphries is alright and can continue to improve. 9 straight AFC west titles pretty nice to have. My son realized he has never seen a season with at least a divisional title.

Dec 09, 2024 04:19 AM #378

Good thing the NFL made sure the Chiefs would win by sneaking into Arrowhead and greasing the top 10 feet of the left upright. The league will do ANYTHING!

Dec 11, 2024 03:25 AM #379

So now that Eric bieniemy has been relived of his duties at UCLA, anyone want him back in KC? The offensive drop off after he left and Nagy returned is pretty evident.

Seemed like we did nothing but complain about him when he was here? We all asked who was actually calling the plays. I dunno. If it helps, sure.

Dec 11, 2024 12:20 PM #381

@kjayhawks we're bringing back everyone else. Let's do it. Be warned though - the games will be boring, winning by 20 instead of 2.

@kjayhawks said in 2024 NFL Season:

I'd rather get a new training and strength coach. Most of our injuries, it seems, have come in practice. How do 2 kickers on one team suffer IR-level injuries in practice? Why so many hamstrings?

Seems like the stretching and flexibility regimen might need some upgrading at least!

Dec 11, 2024 06:33 PM #383

@Crimsonorblue22 Apparently Humphries just strained his hammie, not torn. Reid says he is out of practice but not actually officially declaring him out: "we'll see how he does."

One article says he will skip Cleveland but be ready to play Houston next week.

Donovan Smith has again sent out a "Hello? I'm here" type of tweet indicating his availability.

Dec 15, 2024 05:51 PM #384

Big week here for chiefs, Steelers are playing the Eagles and the Bills the Lions. If the chiefs can handle the browns on the road and get wins from the Eagles and Lions they will be felling great about the #1. I think with all the injuries and starting to play 3 games in a 10 day stretch today. Getting that extra week off would be huge. The NFL that supposedly loves the chiefs, did them zero favors this schedule and an early bye week.

Dec 15, 2024 09:11 PM #385

Another elite game by the defense and the offensive line finally got Mahomes hurt. At some point it has to be man up and do your job. Block the guy across from you

Dec 15, 2024 09:24 PM #386

I was unable to watch Chiefs game today.

With so many Browns TOs it seems Chiefs left points off.

Any word on Mahomes injury and recovery timeline

Dec 15, 2024 09:32 PM #387

@AsadZ It was a puntfest. You didn't miss much. Mahomes took a lot of hits too.

Dec 15, 2024 09:54 PM #388

I’m hoping Lions get W against Bills today

Dec 15, 2024 10:07 PM #389

His ankle is NOT broke.

Dec 15, 2024 10:21 PM #390

Hey, a win is a win. I’ll take it!

Saved by turnovers. That was crazy. So many.

Gotta question some weird play calling and also decisions by Mahomes today.

On the play Mahomes got hurt especially. Why the hell was he dorking around in the pocket? That should have been a split second slant to a TE for a first down. Don’t get that play call nor execution. Injured for no reason!

I hope both he and Kelce are ok.

Dec 16, 2024 12:01 AM #391

The play calling was atrocious, they tried so very hard to get the deep ball going. Which was silly because it resulted in Mahomes getting lit up every other play. Nagy has to go at this point. They need to get back to quick outs and slants with this line.

Dec 16, 2024 06:41 AM #392

Seems others aren’t so happy with Big Andy and offensive play calling.

Guess I'm just an old worry wert. -Was worried my Packers was gonna lose against Seattle last night at Seattle- - not to worry , they play well 5 30-13. Mercy that place was loud - -well for about the first quarter and a half -- then not so much.

What really surprised me was when the Pack scored our first TD, it sounded like there was as many Packer fans there as SeaHawk fans --Did a really good job of pressure on the QB last night had seven sacks

Dec 16, 2024 10:12 PM #394

The Chiefs finally waived CEH today.

Dec 16, 2024 10:21 PM #395

@rockchalkjayhawk I hate it for him but it is a business in the end and the chiefs can’t keep paying him

Dec 17, 2024 02:49 PM #396

@kjayhawks That move frees up 66k in cap space. The rest of his 1 year contract was guaranteed. It wasn’t about money, they need the roster spot.

Tough call, but I say play him. Reduce that magic number for No 1 seed as quickly as possible.

Not that it matters, he’s playing anyway!

Dang, Chiefs and Jayhawks on at the same time again. Well, overlapping at least.

Weird, but better ;)

Nice to see Travis and Patrick getting back to their groove here before the playoffs. Mahomes 27/35 304 yards and 3 TDs classic line for him. Kelce 7 catches for 75 yards and a TD. Offensive line has arguably played their best game of the season today. Still a little concerned with the run game.

Dec 25, 2024 08:26 PM #436

The next question is do you play starters at all in Denver? You hate to lose this momentum you have built these last few weeks but don’t want to risk any injuries. Maybe play them for a quarter? 26 days to the divisional round that’s a long time to get rusty.

Dec 25, 2024 08:36 PM #437

I thought it was cool

Dec 26, 2024 01:17 AM #447

Jan 07, 2025 12:31 AM #454

After watching the Broncos beat the chiefs Sunday and act like they just won the game of the century. I really hope they beat the Bills this week. All the chiefs starters watched them run up the score and act like fools Sunday. I like the idea of Chris Jones, Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, George Karlaudas, Trent Mcduffie and co being a little extra motivated.

Jan 07, 2025 01:19 AM #455

Ah, yea. the Chiefs played Sunday! I didn't get to watch, but i saw the score.

I guess the key takeaway was that LT Humphries didn't shine?

Jan 07, 2025 02:12 AM #456

@kjayhawks I'm not convinced that sitting the starters Sunday was a great idea. They get out of sync, out of rhythm. Plus they get a bye game. Chiefs lose big in their next game. Take it to the bank. Like Mahomes' paycheck

Jan 07, 2025 02:31 AM #457

@nuleafjhawk I’m not sure if it was or wasn’t at this point, I suppose we will find out in a few weeks. I will say a couple things that I’m thinking are good. Since Patrick Mahomes became a starter the chiefs have played 18, yes 18 playoff games. That is a game more than an entire extra season and more than anyone else by I believe 7 games. So I think getting these 3 weeks off will be huge for their bodies personally. I highly doubt they are all laying around drinking bud light during this time frame. I’m sure they are doing some light conditioning and some practicing. To start the season no one’s says hey these guy have to remember how to play football the first few weeks before they know what they are doing again. They are professionals they don’t work at jiffy lube on Tuesdays and Thursdays to keep busy. They are all football all the time most of them even in the offseason.

Jan 07, 2025 03:09 AM #458

A game Mahomes plays 4 quarters in is very unlikely to be a loss, much less a blowout loss. 80% QBWinz stat lol - take it to the bank 80% of the time.

Jan 07, 2025 03:37 AM #459

@dylans if I’m not mistaken he has 4 losses by more than one score in his career and has the highest win percentage in NFL history in games he’s trailed by double digits in. You saw with Wentz how much Pat improvises to save sacks and make plays.

Jan 07, 2025 05:42 AM #460

Chiefs didn't play defensived game plan they will use in playoffs. Reid and players said it was essentially a preseason "basic vanilla" defensive plan. And the Chiefs were 0-4 in preseason. DJ wasn't very good but didn't have the first string OL in most of his time.

Jan 07, 2025 03:47 PM #461

@kjayhawks said in 2024 NFL Season:

I think you're a pretty good guy (gal?) and I'm not being argumentative but I got a chuckle out of this - "They are all football all the time most of them even in the offseason."

They may not be drinking Bud Light, but they are definitely not thinking strictly about football. State Farm Insurance, Whataburger, KC Royals, Sporting KC, whatever the women's soccer team is, these are the things they are thinking about. The money makers.

Nuttin wrong with resting the players IMO. Long ass season. Mahomes hurt, etc. Rest will be a good thing. However, that Broncos score was painful regardless. I would have hoped for more from the team, however many backups were playing. an NFL shutout? Practically unheard of.

Jan 08, 2025 12:25 PM #465

@Kcmatt7 it's just my opinion. They're going to have 3 weeks (?) off. Practice is not like full contact, game situation football. I don't know that I'm the Patrick Mahomes of what I do, but I'm really good at my job. After a two week vacation, I'm worthless for a while. It takes time to get back into "game mode".

I hope I'm wrong. I hope they're rested and healthy and kick butt. But I won't be surprised if they don't.

Okay but using your own analogy they aren’t even off of work. They didn’t all go vacation in Cancun for 3 weeks. There is still structure they are adhering to.

I trust Andy Reid to keep team together and ready to play in the playoffs

Jan 08, 2025 04:53 PM #468

The fact that we are catching flak for resting our starters in a meaningless (for us) week 17 game proves two things

  1. We live rent free in other fanbases heads to an unprecedented degree

  2. NFL fans are VERY stupid.

Resting your starters on the last week when you have nothing to play for is standard practice and has NEVER been controversial. I don't even think the nationally hated Patriots were ever criticized for it in the 2010s. I guess we are now the greatest villains in football history BWAHAHA

I listened to the New Heights podcast the other day and all the people yaking about the chiefs throwing the game has pissed off Kelce pretty hardcore. If yall remember the great playoffs he had last season after a very average regular season. It’s about to happen again I think. He has been saving himself for big games in this stage of his career. Everyone just keep talking and adding fuel to the fire. The chiefs are about ready to be rested and healthier than they been all year.

We played them the 1st game of the year and lost 34 --29, just a bad match up- -Hurts is playing- And the stud RB more then anything, just don't think we are stopping him- -I think he finished right at 2,000 yards rushing didn't he ?

Think it would just have to be out scoring them in a slug fest even though Josh Jacobs has been really good for us I just don't feel without Watson & not sure about Dobbs - -two key receivers - -Watson for sure ACL -Afraid I'm going to have to say we probably get beat by two TD'S- -Welp there is always next year lol

Denver has found its QB in Bo Nix.

Maybe the Bears have a coach at long last. @FarmerJayhawk What do you think?

Jan 21, 2025 12:47 AM #480

@wissox Good hire.

Jan 21, 2025 12:47 AM #481

@dylans I think Caleb Williams hired him actually from what it appears.

Jan 21, 2025 12:49 AM #482

@wissox He was the hottest offensive coordinator option. I believe he will help Caleb immensely. How he manages the rest of the team? His coordinator hires will be telling.

Jan 21, 2025 12:51 AM #483

To elaborate a bit. Both risky and smart to not go the retread route. McCarthy isn’t winning in the playoffs. Carol is good, but a pretty short term option. Other known options were less appealing. I’d say it was a good hire.

Jan 27, 2025 03:23 AM #503

I really like Josh Allen. His only real flaw is being born at the wrong time. Mahomes is robbing his legacy. I’m ok with it, just sayin’

Jan 27, 2025 03:23 AM #504

@dylans That throw that he made at the end...I thought he was just throwing it up. He put it on the money, the guy just dropped it.

Jan 27, 2025 03:24 AM #505

I think the bills will want that one back when they watch the film. Cook was phenomenal averaging 6.5 yards per carry and 2 touchdowns. One was all effort on his part. I think they tried to force the ball throwing and were lucky Allen didn’t have at least 2 picks. I think the defense letting up 29 and the Eagles scoring 55 will have them laser focus before the big game. Andy Reid maybe cement his place as one of if not the best coach in NFL history if they can get one more in a few weeks.

There are so many great QBs right now IMO. Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Jackson, Goff and Daniels is looking pretty dang good. I just hate the Allen to Mahomes comparison. Allen has zero MVPs, All Pros and SB victories. The comparison should be dead until Josh gets something going in the post season. As I said above he was very fortunate today he didn’t have 2 picks and 2 lost fumbles.

Jan 27, 2025 05:09 AM #508

@kjayhawks - MVP will likely be either Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson this year.

Josh has been knocked out of the playoffs 4 times by Mahomes in his 6 years. That’s a pretty strong C Block. Once by Brady too - not too shabby. Allen may break thru or he may not, but he is a very good quarterback. - I’d take him over anyone not named Mahomes currently (but Jayden Daniels is rapidly growing on me).

IMO Barkley should be the MVP with how he has played in the postseason. It’s basically turning into whomever the AP thinks has the best year at QB. Which if you go off of number it’s Burrow over Jackson and Allen

GOFF?????? I think he's much more of a purgatory QB than a great.

@BShark haha probably right but he had a good year lol

Jan 27, 2025 04:22 PM #513

I will never be able to prove it, but I believe that Josh Allen could have and would have taken down Tom Brady in the playoffs multiple times and won multiple super bowls had their careers overlapped more.

Jan 27, 2025 04:25 PM #514

@kjayhawks No one will agree with me on this but they really should make three different, equally prestigious MVP awards: one for a QB, one for a non-QB offensive player, and one for a defensive player.

An elite QB will always make the most positive impact of a single player. Having the third or 4th best QB is a way better asset than having the best RB in the league. So it makes sense that the best QB deserves MVP. But also, the best non QB offensive player or the best defensive player deserve credit, especially in cases where they might be better at their job than any QB in the league, even if their job isn't as important as the job of a QB.

Jan 27, 2025 11:50 PM #515

Josh Allen had a fantastic year and should get MVP.

They already have this - MVP - (best player almost always QB), Offensive Player of the Year (usually best non QB offensive player - Barkley)- , and Defensive Player of the Year (best defensive player). Generally no one cares outside of MVP and Super Bowl MVP though.

Jan 28, 2025 04:24 AM #517

@dylans Yeah but they are not equally prestigious. Plus they sometimes give mvp to a non-qb.
Plus they once gave opoy to Drew Brees.

I disagree a little bit with your logic of QBs and RBs. I think the eagles this season are the prime example. Hurts is a top 10 QB in this league arguably top 5. Barkley is the best running back this season no question. They have ridden his coattails to the SB they ain’t getting there with an average running back. NFL defenses have changed the last few seasons to where they have shifted focus to stop the passing game. I feel like that’s part of the reason Barkley has been great. The league is always flowing back and forth. I feel like every decade it goes to RBs are not important at all and then everyone runs a Tampa 2 style of defense shuts down the passing. Then running backs are important again the next decade, the cycle just goes back and forth. The only eagles player that worries me is Barkley.

Jan 28, 2025 03:12 PM #519

@Jhawk69 They are all just participation awards. The winners of the last game get to take the real trophy home.

Jan 28, 2025 05:43 PM #520

@kjayhawks Some validity to this but not completely sold

Jalen literally made the Super Bowl without saquon at rb. Saquon has been ridiculous this year but if they have a decent rb I still think they make it.

Go through the Super Bowl champs and check out those rb names

I agree the position is coming back because of the defensive tendencies like you stated so there is some validity but unless you have Saquon or Gibbs it doesn’t change much.

Give me a top qb and a defense all day over an above average qb and the best rb

We’ve seen the Niners with Mccaffrey and plenty of other examples

All that to say I think the eagles win 34-21

Their d line is gonna eat, their secondary with the Iowa product is legit and there is no way that we slow down saquon without Jalen hurting us. If James cook can carve the D up and mixon before him…. Barkley gonna destroy us on the ground

Jan 28, 2025 05:44 PM #521

@Jhawk69 Man if you deep dive Tom’s career it isn’t goat like

Winning super bowls scoring 13 points

Defense saving him against the Seahawks

Has multiple turnovers and wins playoff games (because of his defense)

If you watched him play he wasn’t the best qb

Jan 28, 2025 06:05 PM #522

@kuballin10 I didn't really watch NFL football until around 2010 so I can't comment on Brady's entire career. But my take has always been that he is a very good QB but not necessarily better than other greats who have fewer super bowls. For instance, I would argue that Drew Brees is as good as TB if not a little better, but that TB with an elite defense is obviously going to get better results than Brees with a bad defense.

Jan 28, 2025 06:28 PM #523

The GOAT debate is such a tough one with how much sports have changed over the years. I’m fine for Tom to be considered the GOAT at this point. The stars all had to align first him to do so. The AFC East was such a crap division for so long. The jets haven’t been relevant in my live time, the Dolphins and Bills are good teams now but took a long break after Jim Kelly and Dan Marino respectively retired. He had one of if not the best defenses in the nfl for most of his years as a starter. The last 2 super wins his defense only allowed a combined 12 points and just about every starter QB that season could’ve won it for them. His passing records are a little inflated because he played much longer. I believe he has like 38 more starts than anyone else in the top 5. Much like LeBrons scoring record. Congrats you played several seasons longer. To be the goat IMO you have to do something that’s never been done before in a relative timeframe and/or change the game. Hence LeBron will never be my goat.

@kjayhawks said in 2024 NFL Season:

I don’t normally pay too much attention to those awards, but the choices this year seemed odd for sure. But I heard the Allen MVP chat for a lot of the season.

Feb 09, 2025 05:00 AM #528

@rockchalkjayhawk ya I just think it’s ludicrous what the MVP has turned into, basically just a popularity contest of the top QBs in the league. You look at what Reid was able to accomplish this season and he got snubbed hard core.

I look at what the chiefs did and the obstacles they overcame and if Andy is fortunate enough to pull it off tomorrow it should be recognized as one of the greatest coaching jobs in NFL history.

Top 2 running backs coming into the season: Pop and CEH. CEH had his PTSD issues and didn’t play a snap. Pop broke his ankle and missed 75% of the year. They sign Perine a guy that didn’t make the broncos and Hunt mid season from the couch that couldn’t make the browns.

WR same story top 2 guys going into the season Brown is hurt first snap of preseason and Rice early in the year with an ACL. They sign JuJu whom was cut from the Patriots early in camp and have Hardman who was cut last season by Jets.

Defensively and special teams wise also had there fair share of injuries. Including Watson who is their second best defensive back in coverage. Charles Omenihu, Mike Dana, Jack Cockrane and Kicker Harrison Butker.

After all of that all the team did against a top 5 SOS was win their 7th straight divisional title, 7th straight AFC Championship appearance and have the best regular season record in Kansas City Chiefs history. All while getting everyones best shot hoping they could shut down the 3 peat truly remarkable.

Feb 09, 2025 07:19 AM #529

Yea, I honestly don’t get very interested in the awards and MVPs. All a mystery to me how they choose and why.

Feb 09, 2025 02:56 PM #530

The MVP is narrative driven - and Josh is very deserving. He lost his top receiver, analysts were doubting he would be able to do much calling it a rebuilding year. And he put up MVP worthy numbers with a weaker supporting cast.

Reid can’t really defy expectations. It sucks, but he won’t win for that reason. He’s expected to lead the team to the SB, anything less would be a failure. - seems like the definition of coach of the year. But voters are silly that way.

Feb 09, 2025 05:19 PM #531

@dylans I think Josh has a better WR core than Mahomes had for much of the season. Just hard to comprehend a guy that’s 14th in pass yards, 7th in passing touchdowns and 24th in completion percentage getting MVP. Only stat he led the league in is QBR. Looking at the criteria you could say Mahomes got snubbed for along with a dozen other starters. Burrow was the best passer and Lamar was the best of passing and rushing by a very wide margin. Mahomes you could say after watching Wentz was pretty damn important to the chiefs.

Feb 09, 2025 08:20 PM #532

What I like about Reid and Mahomes is that they don't give a crap about those awards. Very few can get to a level where individual accolades mean nothing because they perennially lead their teams to the highest level in the game.

Feb 10, 2025 03:08 PM #533

I'm a bit surprised all our Chicken Littles haven't already screamed that Andy Reid can't adjust to the modern game and should be fired.

Feb 11, 2025 12:56 AM #534

@mayjay has Bill Self made the Final Four or NC game 5 of the last 7 years? He lost in the first weekend 5 of 7 years when we do this year. Seems like a pretty baseless argument to logically thinking folks. If Andy loses in the wildcard round 5 of the next 7 years. Plenty of the kingdom will be saying Andy it’s time to hang it up.

Feb 11, 2025 01:30 AM #535

@kjayhawks Self has won 2 titles, only one less than Reid, and has done so in a sport with 10 times as many teams and 5 times as many in the playoffs. All while having guaranteed 100% roster turnover every few years at most, and without a draft process that guarantees entitlement to 7 of the top 250 players from colleges who prepare players for the pro's. And without having an owner's hundreds of millions of dollars available--actually, required--to spend on salaries while having only an arbitrarily limited staff.

Both face one constant: fans who are oh-so-certain they know everything.

Feb 11, 2025 01:01 PM #536

@mayjay I think the NCAA tournament is the hardest title to win in all of sports but the NIL ordeal makes the two closer than they ever have been. If you want better guys you can go buy them without have to worry about a salary cap in a sense. But saying that Self has had the same recent success as Reid just isn’t factual by any stretch of imagination.

Feb 11, 2025 06:04 PM #537

@kjayhawks Title in '22 seems pretty recent, especially considering the '20 team that many considered likely to win before covid cancelled it all. But sure, two years not as good means those were just flukes.

Feb 11, 2025 06:35 PM #538

@mayjay as many great teams self has lost in the tournament I think it’s astonishing the amount of fans that just want to hang a banner for that year. You also act like 2019 didn’t exist. We can go back and fourth all day
