If he is a top 10 draft pick, KU can't really match that kind of money. We will have to see how the season progresses but he has unreal athleticism.

Well I know it was just Howard, but saw some good things. Good D, good bench scoring, good passing, not many TOs. Mayo might have worked into the starting lineup. Hope they keep it up, and… good guys win again

Nice to have enough shooters where when one guy isnt shooting well we dont have to hope he can get it going.

We will find out a lot Friday evening, lots of good stuff here. Was impressed with the defense for much of the night. Our lack of size still scares me we will struggle against sizable guards

I know it was Howard and got to keep things in perspective but, I think we have to give passing grades to Zeke -- -Flory -- -& Diddy for the first game of the year.

Zeke with 19 points and some rebounds- --Flory with 13-- -and 8 for his debut- -and Diddy I believe had 8 points a couple of Steals and some assists --solid defense- -could of scored more but played well

Zeke looked pretty smooth. Even saw some quickness and explosion I wasn’t sure he had. Love it.

This is going to be an interesting year with the lineup. Self for sure is going to have to go 9 deep every game. That’s a good thing! How he handles that from game to game is going to be crazy to watch.

Dunno much about Storr, but that’s gonna be our dramatic player story line this year — how he adjusts.

Just a rando thought but I actually think other teams are going to have more of a problem tryin to defend Ku this yr. I think we aren't going to have to worry about scoring this year---we have the scorers. Diddy - - -Rylan - -Zeke- - -Hunter - --even Aj before it's all said and done.

I think we are going to be able to space the floor, they won't be able to clog the lane as much - -and w won't have to hear from our expert about our D-2 player having to score more, he won't be on the floor as much, he can focus on running he team more, and yet our expert will I'm sure be able to find something - -Anyways I truly believe we got the scorers this year.

After this game, I had the same thought (we have shooters this year! Yay!) and then I remembered this was Howard. Our shooters did look good against them, but let's see how they look on Friday when they go up against size, length, etc.

IIRC, didn't look so great against Arkansas... but that wasn't a perfect litmus test either. So my fingers are crossed that we will look more like last night on a regular basis, but too soon to tell.

Not a lot to read too much into other than it looks like KU has more playable depth than they have had in past couple.of years which is good.

Friday night, we'll have a much better idea of where this team really is at.

Agreed and unc is top 20ish team from what I saw last night. Elon gonna have some portal kids moving up after this year.

Harris played less which allowed Bill to get better looks at other guys. That won’t happen Friday but Bill used the game to really look at things.

Friday we should win and I’d say by 6-8.

Think I have to agree with Swain on this. Saying Ku has the capability of having so many line up combinations this year as compared to last , saying you could see 4-5 different possibilities .

Last year if Hunter was having a bad game , or if Furphy was having a bad game , or if Kevin was having a bad game or not healthy KU really struggled

This year a lot of different possibilities Gonna be interesting/fun to see how this turns out Once AJ get's settled in - -Once Rylan get's settled in - -think a lot of Zeke's performance like at Arkansas was a lot of first game jitters .

Diddy showing last night he didn't have to play hero ball like what Northern Illinois, just playing within the system , being able to move the ball - - AJ hasn't quite got it figured out yet -- -he will, think we just got many scorers - - love Diddy's juice , kid is just -- no fear, not afraid, shows no signs of bigger stage -- he quite possibly could play a big piece this year - - gonna be interesting

Upon a bit of reflection, I think I should be relishing in a team with a senior point guard-- one with multiple years of experience in Self's system and even with National Championship experience. And furthermore-- an All America center with 2 years in Self's system... And surrounded by athletes in the wings and forwards. Some good outside shooters. There's a lot to like about this team.

Also, it reminds me of 2009-10. A redo on that year both excites me and scares me.

Very encouraged after last night. I'm really interested to see how we handle UNC who has an elite scoring guard so that's a tough ask in a 2nd game. Very interested to see if Self stays committed to using depth when facing good teams. Boy the basketball season is turning up real quick. Pumped
