Kind of an odd feeling going into this one. We're in a must win mode. Why must we win? For bowl eligibility. That's really it. We'd like to play one more game in the last week of 2024 even if it's in the irrelevant bowl. Because it'd represent a fairly remarkable turnaround from the horrendous 1-5 start. Two seasons ago we start 5-0 if memory serves correct, Jayden goes down and Bean didn't have the magic he showed last year. A win today, and of course the next two weeks would make a 4-0 finish and a completely different way to become bowl eligible.

There's no use in playing 'what could have been' because it's over. Future starts today and so I'm excited for this matchup. Why am I excited?

Another chance to watch these dynamic offensive stars we have.

Another chance to watch Cobee and Mello.

Another chance to beat BYU and their relatively suspect 9-0 record. Knocking them out of the unbeaten ranks would be a really cool thing to do.

So it's gonna be a late night. Who's staying up? I am. Maybe the only one, but I'll be here.

@wissox -- I'll be up also. - -BYU has been living on a wing and a prayer - -borrowed time, some fortunate breaks, - -times up.- As long as Jalen doesn't try to play Superman, just control ; the game - -work the ball down field play to his capabilities I think we have an excellent chance. - -I know BYU is like they said 331-4 in their Stadium I think at night- -I still feel good and say we win this-- calling it 34-28 KU

I'm planning on staying up, we'll see how late I make it. The other thing with making a low level bowl game this year is that would likely provide a lot of younger players a bunch of first team reps because I could of KU's seniors, especially ones with NFL potential like Neal, Dotson, Bryant, Grimm, etc. opting out of that bowl game. It could in theory give KU a head start on spring practice.

I'm pacific time, so I will be watching this one.

It's not impossible for us to win. If we did, it would have reverberations through the playoff bracket.... Probably would hurt the B12. I don't expect the refs to do us any favors tonight.

I remember going to a non televised KU football game against A&M in like 2001 and it was amazing. Game was less than 3 hours.

Just read this:

From 1980-2022 Kansas had defeated a top 10 team 4 times.

Since 2023 Kansas has defeated a top 10 team twice.

Couple of thoughts here friends, credit to this team and staff for shutting out the negativity. I think just about all of us on here were throwing in the towel. In 2019 we all would’ve been pretty damn happy with 3 big 12 wins and 4 over all. Only 2 guys since 2000 have won more than 3 games in a season for Kansas football Mangino and LL.

I will say one thing about Colorado, Travis Hunter is a bad Mofo and scares the shit outta me lol.

Props to coaches, players, fans that didn’t quit on this group. Nights like tonight make the bad ones worth it

Full credit for this win goes to KU's defense. Only giving up one TD for the game and a FG in the second half. Great job D. But, credit to BYU for holding our running game to 73 yds on 33 carries. What's up with Hishaw? Injured, doghouse? 2 yds on 3 carries. Oh my, now KU takes on the media hype machine that is Colorado football, which is playing very well at this point. 2:30 Sat on FOX. I sure wish this game was being played at Memorial Stadium.

@stoptheflop Leipold said he's done that in a game 3 times (QB kick). Not sure if either of the other 2 were at KU. He said two of them have worked out really, really well. They practice that every Thursday since he's been a head coach.

I’m feeling bummed for not being able to watch either of the two KU games yesterday but extremely happy to see that KU stepped up big and knocked off unbeaten BYU at their home stadium.

@AsadZ It's always a privilege to watch the Jayhawks, but the hoops game was kind of a snoozefest. We're just too good for a team like Oakland. Last year that team might have challenged us. The football game was great fun.

Now he needs to break out the punt/pass - where the punter underhand tosses the ball high so it looks like a punt. Then the gunners catch it and advance the ball or get interfered with since the other team thinks it’s a punt that they have the right to. It only works if the refs are paying attention and the receiving team isn’t.

@dylans I think the BYU defender thought that was a pass the other day. Not sure if that's our intent in running it but our guy was acting like a receiver too and defense was looking right at him and not the ball.
