I found a nice resource for all the Jayhawks who have played in the NBA.

I assume it's up to date.

So, to beat the summer doldrums i'll pose some trivia questions to see if anybody can or wants to answer -- without looking up the answers! These questions all pertain to past Jayhawks.

Once we get a correct answer, i'll post another.

QUESTION

Of all the Jayhawks and ONLY Jayhawks who have played in the NBA, who ranks SECOND in rebounds per game average?

Hmmm just a guess… Scot Pollard?

This should be an easy one...but a footnote: Don't guess Wilt. Not sure they kept those stats back then.

Wilt had a long run in the NBA. If it's not Wilt, probably Pierce given all the years and playoffs (and the seasons were longer too).

Maybe a lot more in the ABA than I realized. When you give the answer, it would be interesting to see the ABA/NBA breakdown.

Also, in the 20 years from 1970 - 1989 I'd be surprised if there were more than 10 Jayhawks in the pros. Wilt was still playing at the front-end of that period and Danny Manning was a rookie at the back-end. That's two. You've got Jo-Jo and Robisch, Valentine, Dreiling, Prichard, Chris Piper and maybe even Scooter Barry made it into the league. That's 9 maybe. Most had short careers in the pros.

As a fan, it seemed like a desert in that period.

The site I’m using sadly doesn’t break it down obviously between NBA and ABA. So, would require some extra footwork to see.

So the question was how many Jayhawks have played in the NBA/ABA. Pretty broad and hard to answer. So the answer is 87!

The first being Giff Roux in 1947.

A few of others are Quentin Grimes, Grady Dick, Andrew White III, Keith Langford, Wayne Simien, Johnny Furphy, and Kevin McCullar.

I’m glad you mentioned Tarik Black. Yup. My lists are not complete. The website database I was using lists guys in a funny way. I’ll have to fill in the blanks. Sherron Collins, too!

Guys that made the NBA that were coming to KU until Duke and Zona gave money to before there was anything like NIL: ayton and Zion

In an alternate reality, KU's 2012-13 starting line up could've been Elijah Johnson, Bradley Beal, Ben McLemore, Otto Porter, and Jeff Withey. Still a little weak at PG with EJ, but KU was runner up for both Beal and Porter and had KU landed both, that's a hell of a starting 5.

@Texas-Hawk-10 That would have been great. Plus Releford would have been by far the best 6th man in the country that year.

Fifty-Two years after his retirement, what former KU Jayhawk STILL holds 72 NBA records?
