@JRyman Watched the game but was in a crowd and couldn't follow it closely. I've seen enough over the season to see how ineffective he is, especially relative to our other options. I'm not saying he will never make a shot other than a dunk, which you point out he did, but it is going to be a rare occurrence.

KU needs to start rebounding. Baylor is killing them on the glass. This is going to be KU's achilles heel all year and what they'll have to overcome to be successful in March and April. This is also why Lucas is valuable to KU. He may not be the most skilled guy, but he is far and away KU's best rebounder and where his value is to this team.

@DCHawker KU is shooting well enough today where getting destroyed in rebounding doesn't look like it's going to hurt them, but there's still a lot of time left.

There will be games where that's not the case and KU will need to rebound to prevent teams from getting additional possessions and Lucas will have to be that guy even if KU has to play a little slower.

@JRyman Not complaining in this case, just observing. Like to see that we were able to finish strong after they made a little run. Mick was in almost the entire half - very unusual - but he earned it. Points, rebounds, blocked and altered shots.

@KUSTEVE We shot great, but when you get to 100 points, you're playing fast. I think that is what so many of us were worried about, that Self would try to push us into back to the basket, high - low offense when we don't have the personnel down low to execute in that style.

19 3 pt's played to our strength and it helped that we hit them. Hit a couple late of course, but, from what I saw (thanks CBS) we destroyed their zone with our ball movement and outside shooting. Think we were at 75% 3 pt shooting while they were in the zone. That played to our strength. What I couldn't tell (thanks CBS) was if it was due to inside-out or some other form of ball movement that got us there.

I like that he had Mickelson back in there late in the 2nd and we seemed to flow again a little smoother. Then mop up with an incredible bench of Diallo/Bragg/Vick.

@wissoxfan83 You and I remember when it was a big deal to make the NCAA. I assume you remember the Ted Owens years back in the day, when K-State and Misery were both better programs at that time. So, some of these youngins have grown up spoiled on our success over the years. I'm not worried about it - this looks like a national championship team this year. Imagine how ridiculous they will look by the end of the year...lol.

@KUSTEVE I actually didn't know anything about KU basketball until I enrolled there in 1985, so I don't remember Ted Owens, but I've heard. Back then I was all about anything having to do with Chicago hoops, Depaul, U of I, even Loyola was very good then.

@KUSTEVE I think it has more to do with the those particular individuals than who our coach is or what he accomplishes honestly. Some ppl will just always need to say we gotta fire the coach. It's internal wiring

@cragarhawk IF KU guards them tough, which they will, then they will settle for jump shots quite a bit. Heild is a pro, that kid can straight up ball. He can make the game very interesting if Selden can't contain him fully.

It's a contested early jumpshots or a wide open layup every time on both ends right now... Crazy

OU-ISU game reminds me of the Loyola Marymount, OU, UNLV (?) offenses of the late 80's.

Do we have anyone that can consistently keep Niang out of the paint off the dribble? OU doesn't so far. He's having his way in there

@KUSTEVE on offense in transition I agree. But we have had trouble getting back on defense @bwag is right about that. And we haven't played anyone that fast yet either I don't believe

@KUSTEVE If we're ready for it. They're playing faster than us though, pushing at nearly every opportunity.

@cragarhawk I believe someone pushed us early in the year....but we've been better since then, but this has been relentless in this game.

@cragarhawk I'm sure it will be a point of emphasis in our preparation. OU is the same team we beat in Lawrence, and lost to in Norman on a last second shot last year. I think we match up quite well with them.

That was an awesome game to watch! My idea of fun, even on the top row. There were so many cool videos too. They did one w/guess that tune, Svi read the words and then sang along w/it, the royals song- he was awful! It was really funny. The popup was of Bragg and it was funny too. Good time! Guys played hard, diallo, in my opinion, has a long way to go. He doesn't seem to want to get near the bucket on O. Fading back on his shot. Perry responded well to his rear chewing. Dg played really well too. Of course Selden and Hunter looked good. I bet Bragg blocks out on throws next game! Gotta give props to BG, his game is getting better. Thought Selden could have got the ball to him more. Can't wait for Monday!

There folks should be your big man rotation for now with exceptions for specific matchups or until #2/#3 options begin to grow towards their ceilings.

@DinarHawk Not like I was watching in the first half of the OU/ISUgame. These teams were jacking up the first available open or semi-open look. Then it comes down to whether they are connecting or not.

Don't get me wrong, I think we can play like this, we just gotta be ready.

OU @ 13:50 mark in the 2nd half has taken 23 3 pointers. Only hitting 30% and down 1. ISU only shot 11 3pt's @ 45%.

We did!! This was my first trip back to Lawrence since I left after graduation in 98. We caught both games this week. my twin boys, who are bigger fans than me, had the most amazing time on campus and at the games. Bought more KU gear this week than I did in 4 years before.
