Too many times we think someone is serious when they're not, or not serious when they are. It's very embarrassing and leads to basketball insults like "you're not a real Jayhawk fan" or "go away troll" or "you've never watched basketball in your life, haven't you?" Sometimes it's even worse than this and people tell someone they might as well go and live in Methsoury or Kensucky.

Well in the spirit of peace on earth or peace on KUBuckets, I propose a system that will help us avoid such tension rising posts.

If you're writing something that is just a joke and not to be taken seriously, then simply write FU which stands for funny of course.

For example, you're trying to make a point using humor and you write: "Why don't we just go ahead and shoot all 3's this year, no more 2's, just 3's?" FU People will smile with emoji's and emoticons and will have a good chuckle that will get at least 1 thumbs up, but probably more. They'll know you really don't mean we literally should shoot all threes.

Let's try another. "Bill Self will become the coach at Duke"FU See? No one challenges their lunacy because they know you're joking. Simple.

If you're being serious so we know, just write IFR which stands for I'mForReal. Here's an example. "The Jayhawks will win the National Championship this year"IFR

@wissoxfan83
Whenever I throw out a good FU it usually leads to fisticuffs... FU (insert smiley face - currently not working)

@dylans

I agree. I believe the more commonly accepted term is JK or /JK. By the way, emojis do not seem to be working since the move. Sad emoji here...

Post was written with tongue firmly planted in cheek. But things get written that people think are serious when they're obviously to everyone else and then they say stupid things.

Original post now edited.

@wissoxfan83

In other board we use

/S sarcasm goes here /S

Or...

/Sarcasm on sarcasm goes here /Sarcasm off

or.

Sarcasm-on sarcasm goes here #Sarcasm-off

There is now an emoticon to express sarcasm, the SarcMark, as it has been named, is designed to be used in the same way as an exclamation or question mark. The company behind it has applied for a patent and charges $1,99 to download it...go figure...

That's better than my lame attempt!

You probably forgot to add the FU!

@wissoxfan83

Actually, the forum has been very tame and polite all summer...I wonder who is the missing poster or posters that stir up trouble...ummm...you all get 1 guess.

/sargasm = an ecstatic release of sarcasm

🤓

IACJN -- I am channeling James Naismith.

SAFEUAETFP -- Sports Are Fun, Ease Up and Enjoy the French Pastry

SCRTTAMM/WBTTO -- Sexually Castrating Remark That Took Away My Manhood/Womanhood Before the Tip Off.

(Note: all fiction. No malice.)

@JayHawkFanToo "JK" is also what I try to use if questionable... And now that you mentioned about the emojis, wassup wit dat? Tame & polite- a pleasant observation IMO...However the emoticons have now become readily available & well expanded on my new iPhone as they were not on the older one. Wonder is it the site or device ...

Oct 25, 2016 02:40 PM #12

@wissoxfan83 Not a bad idea @jaybate-1.0 does a good job with his all fiction posts. A jk is just fine with me, we dont need to support Friends University that much lol

Oct 25, 2016 05:05 PM #13

@JayHawkFanToo so you shoot the first shot....so maybe not who you are alluding to? Two thoughts come to mind, look in the mirror and everytime you point at someone else, there are 3 fingers pointing back.

Nothing much to discuss all summer. Actually really kinda boring because frankly I find the recruiting stuff neaarly unreadable.

Ready to get something rocking and get back to some good discussions.

Oct 25, 2016 06:13 PM #14

@Bwag welcome back! Actually the summer wasn't to boring for some of us, a few knee surgeries, some cancer, new gbabies. I like hearing about the prospects and certainly appreciate my friends here. I am worried about @VailHawk though. How was your summer?😎☀️

@Bwag

I have not seen you post in while but it is not you who came to mind in my post. As soon as basketball season starts and some posters come back, it should be pretty obvious when trouble begins. Laughing emoji here...

@approxinfinity any chance of getting emojis/emoticons back? They do serve a purpose and I miss them; I have not seen them since the migration and nothing has changed on my end.

Oct 25, 2016 07:30 PM #16

@globaljaybird

I cannot see the emojis, only a bunch of code. Nothing has changed on my end so I have to assume it has something to do with the new Forum setup.

Oct 25, 2016 10:05 PM #17

@JayHawkFanToo I have no emojis on the laptop but the iPhone has 💯' s.

Oct 26, 2016 01:02 AM #18

@globaljaybird

If you type ":" minus the quotes, the emojis should pop up in the windows; they still do but when I select one, instead of displaying the emoji it displays the code instead. :D

That should have been the laughing emoji...after I post I only see the code and not the emoji.

Oct 26, 2016 04:17 AM #19

:laughing:

@globaljaybird 😉

Oct 26, 2016 04:47 AM #21

@JayHawkFanToo yeah. I tried to upgrade the board last week but it is difficult to upgrade (1 year+ old version with npm dependency issues) and I have been sick. I know there are some emoji issues but I still need to upgrade so I was hoping to do that first.

Oct 26, 2016 05:20 AM #22

@approxinfinity still the same stuff? Get better!

Oct 26, 2016 05:49 AM #23

@approxinfinity I can imagine we can wait on the emojis given that we all need time to lift our jaws off the ground and clean our shorts after watching that Spurs vs Warriors game... Get well soon!

Oct 26, 2016 09:10 AM #24

@approxinfinity

No big deal. Just get well and don't worry about it.

Oct 26, 2016 11:07 AM #25

@Crimsonorblue22 yeah. It took a while for me to shake. Meds ended yesterday, have been worn out. Hope to be 100% soon. thanks.

Oct 26, 2016 04:37 PM #26

@JayHawkFanToo I know you weren't referncing me...I'm 99% sure I know who you were referencing, but I personally love yes, love the perspective he brings. I don't understand everyone's visceral reactions to his posts.

@Crimsonorblue22 been here all summer, the site blow up eradicated my updated ID (persona taken on during the light-side/dark-side rumbles of 2015/16) but maintained the earlier one.

Guess I'm tired of recruiting posts and recirculated stories about this and that. Ready for the season to get going so we can get into more substantive discussions and breaking down reality, not hopes and dreams.

@Bwag

Whatcha talking about Willis?
