I CAN WATCH THE KSU GAME OVER THE AIR BUT NOT THE KU GAME. This is such a failure.

Nov 26, 2016 01:02 AM #7

Here we goooo. How long until Udoka sits with two fouls? I'll go with at the 13 minute mark first half.

Nov 26, 2016 01:09 AM #11

Alright Doke, looks like you're the feature player tonight. Dig it.

Nov 26, 2016 01:10 AM #12

Wow nice move Vick

Nov 26, 2016 01:14 AM #13

Refs not quite the quick whistle we've grown used to.

Nov 26, 2016 01:14 AM #14

Looks like Self was serious about getting Dok some playing time. Excellent

Love him not pulling Doke after a couple mistakes too.

Good!

Nov 26, 2016 01:17 AM #18

There we go. So Doke gets the hook with no fouls. Either he's gased already or else this was mostly an exercise in motivating Bragg and Lucas.

Nov 26, 2016 01:18 AM #19

Josh making fts!

This is a good game to let our bigs play through their mistakes. Let's go guys. Cmon Landen!

Its pretty apparent so far that Self sent them out with noting but the vanilla playbook. This game we get to labor. Self isn't going to give them any plays that work until the last ten minutes of the second half.

Nov 26, 2016 01:27 AM #36

@brooksmd Ya got da feed tonite? Twilight zone here thanks to The Z-Z-Z-Z-Z-Z-Z- man...We would both be really tickled if I could watch the game & he had a strategically placed feather ...

Nov 26, 2016 01:29 AM #42

That was the most uncoordinated garbage offensive flop I've seen this season. I think Bragg should take @BeddieKU23 advice and flop defensively there too. Would make for good soccer.

Nov 26, 2016 01:47 AM #73

Give me Josh and Doke in NBA jam.

Nov 26, 2016 01:47 AM #74

So: Nick McDevitt's bloodline tracks back like this:

McDevitt-->
Beidenbeck-->
Hugh Durham-->
J.K Kennedy

McDevitt played for and assisted for Beidenbeck and invited Beidenbeck back to be his assistant.

Beidenbeck is a Hugh Durham disciple.

This is from the way back machine, Peabody.

Durham was one of those southern coaches that was reputedly quite good but kind of out the mainstream and was involved in the big period of integrating southern basketball AFTER the northern schools did it.

Durham grew up in Louisville hoops culture and played a couple season at FSU. He later coached FSU and took a Florida State team to the Final Four back in the late Wooden Era.

UNC Ashville is running a couple offenses and one of them is so old that it is what my high school ran. Its some of the Oklahoma shuffle. Then they shift out of it and run some double high post stuff, then a little 3-2 high low. Mixing it up for our guys. But they just can't stop our guys athleticism, or our treys.

Kennedy I have no recollection of.

Nov 26, 2016 01:49 AM #75

Disagree with piper - need to keep giving Dok the ball on the block

Nov 26, 2016 01:49 AM #76

Doke 1 foul

Nov 26, 2016 01:49 AM #77

A game like this does little to prep our guys for a real challenge from defensive pressure.

Nov 26, 2016 01:50 AM #78

@Bwag out of position a couple times but otherwise solid

Nov 26, 2016 01:50 AM #79

Yes. Especially in a game like this, let him play and learn.

Nov 26, 2016 01:51 AM #80

@globaljaybird after being on the road for a while, this type of game is what they need. Also a good opportunity for Dok

Nov 26, 2016 01:51 AM #81

We are starting to see some guys that kind of fit together: Josh, Vick and Azuibuke, with whichever guards fill the other two slots. Unfortunately, Doke isn't yet quite ready for 35 mpg. But it looks like Self is going to start playing him into shape.

Nov 26, 2016 01:52 AM #82

Umkc will be the worst. This team beat sienna?

@bwag where are you?

Nov 26, 2016 01:54 AM #86

The good news is that Self really didn't help them much and they found a way to compose themselves, go on the attack and separate.

Nov 26, 2016 01:54 AM #87

Nice half. We are head and shoulders better.

I just have to ask after seeing Lucas in the game lost, fouling, doing the same crap again. The poor body language. Why is he playing. Coleby is playing better, play him

If Coleby gets healthy I honestly don't see much of a reason for Lucas to get minutes unless he really improves.

I agree which until this week we never thought that would be the case.

The fouling by Lucas is more than an issue now. For a "smart" player he's not playing that way

Nov 26, 2016 02:01 AM #103

@BeddieKU23

At this point, Coleby is clearly better than Lucas and that's with Coleby dragging his leg. Coleby might be a better player than I thought.

Vick with 15 and 9. Who was it that was saying he wasn't gonna get better. He's a young fella headed :+1:

Nov 26, 2016 02:44 AM #150

Hypothesis: Lightfoot and Coleby know too much about how to play the post to be given any minutes. Or too healthy.

@kjayhawks said:

He can really score and shoot, which is why the 1-13 start was so frustrating. He will be a featured player next year.

Nov 26, 2016 02:46 AM #152

Tyler's really making us pay for his minutes.

Nov 26, 2016 02:47 AM #153

Coleby really looks like a player. Got to get that knee functional.

Nov 26, 2016 02:48 AM #154

One of KU's post men did a spin move and went up! Coleby, he's my man now.

Nov 26, 2016 02:48 AM #155

@jaybate-1.0

Agree. I commented on this earlier as well.

Nov 26, 2016 02:50 AM #156

That was a remarkably bad exhibition of free throwing.

Nov 26, 2016 02:50 AM #157

@jaybate-1.0 it's not right now? Lol doesn't look that bad right now

Nov 26, 2016 02:51 AM #158

Tyler violated the prime directive of feeding the post. Never close your eyes and just throw it in there.

Nov 26, 2016 02:51 AM #159

@jaybate-1.0 you must have missed Dok' s b2b move earlier

Nov 26, 2016 02:52 AM #160

Hey, if these guys are going to shoot treys at the end, then i'm glad we kept pulling the trigger from trey.

Nov 26, 2016 02:52 AM #161

@jaybate-1.0 About as bad as I was, but I also didn't play enough to shoot often just like Young.

Nov 26, 2016 02:52 AM #162

Well, home cooking certainly agrees with our guys.

Nov 26, 2016 02:53 AM #163

Is this the first season we have played two bulldogs in the same pre conference season? I guess consecutively?

Nov 26, 2016 02:53 AM #164

Ill Mitch!

Nov 26, 2016 02:54 AM #165

@Texas-Hawk-10 It's OK Tyler has paid his dues & Mitch just got there. He'll have his time too.

Nov 26, 2016 02:54 AM #166

Maryland is getting rolled by Richmond.

Nov 26, 2016 02:55 AM #167

FTs % was terrible aided by Coleby and Young going 1/5. But idk if can remember a game with us just shooting 16 free ones. I kinda think the refs let them play a bit tonight which i like.

Nov 26, 2016 02:55 AM #168

@Red_Rooster ha! happy you're back

@kjayhawks Only 27 FTA between the 2 teams so I would imagine this crew will get a reprimand from NCAA head official.

Nov 26, 2016 02:57 AM #171

Its my feeling that at the rate our front court is developing, we can expect three legitimate post moves next home game. I'm not sure we're ready for three on the road, though.

My favorite stat is KU 49 rebounds to 23... Wow thats getting after the glass idc who you playing, shot 61% from 3 aswell.

Nov 26, 2016 02:59 AM #174

@kjayhawks Well that poor kid that tried to keep Buke tied up just didn't have a chance. Goliath definitely whupped David this time.

Vick with 9.

Also I like Graham with 11 ast.

Nov 26, 2016 03:01 AM #176

kjayhawks

This is prob one of the worst teams we will face this year, if LL is hurt no reason to send him out. Get the youngsters some PT. I’ll take KU 93 UNCA 60. Mason continues to be a monster and hopefully one of our bigs remembers to show up. I honestly would start Coleby, if the other guys aint gonna play hard then show them that its not gonna fly.

4th game this year I've been within 5 points total :boom:

Nov 26, 2016 03:02 AM #177

@Texas-Hawk-10

But the guy shoots FTs every day!!!!!

And they practice from time to time in AFH.

And he warms up there every game.

He knows these baskets like Trump knows Trump Tower.

He's got to be able to make 1 of 3 even back to the basket.

Nov 26, 2016 03:02 AM #178

We feel deeper with Bragg and Lucas coming off the bench. Vick and Udoka earned another start.

Nov 26, 2016 03:03 AM #179

@BShark

I'm going with the trey percentage as the decisive factor.

Nov 26, 2016 03:03 AM #180

@approxinfinity

Definitely. Although I would not complain if Tyler were given a look at starting at the 4. :innocent:

Nov 26, 2016 03:03 AM #181

@jaybate-1.0 with you. Mind blown that Young couldn't hit 1 of 3

Nov 26, 2016 03:06 AM #182

@approxinfinity

So what is all the Korean spam we've been getting lately.

Some fan from the WUGs trying to connect without using the translator, or what?

Nov 26, 2016 03:06 AM #183

@approxinfinity Ya don't like excuses from the line, i shot over 80% in High school, I know its not highschool but I can still make 7 or 6 of 10 now that i touch a ball bout every 3 months, Its easy in rhythm.

For sure. Frank was COOKIN today.

Advance copy of bedore's work!image.jpeg ↗

Spoiler he like Udoka.

Nov 26, 2016 03:08 AM #186

Lightfoot was efficient as hell, 3 minutes, 4 boards and 3 points.

Nov 26, 2016 03:09 AM #187

@dylans

Our very own spy. :smile:

Nov 26, 2016 03:11 AM #188

@BShark I need our ku buckets credentials next time.

Nov 26, 2016 03:11 AM #189

Shocking ESPN headlines.

Sexworkerville lost.

Huggybear's maulers lost.

Ratso Izzo apologies to his team for the tough schedule. :scream:

And this insider link: HOW DUKE AND KENTUCKY GET ALL THE TALENT

Someone needs to read that for me. I can't bring myself to read it.

@jaybate-1.0 lol well in the past I blocked IPs on the server when we got spammed. I haven't done that this time. I should. I had hoped they would just go away, but I know the world doesn't work that way, sadly.

Nov 26, 2016 03:15 AM #191

well that was a nice scrimmage, good to give Frank a LITTLE rest. -- - 28 minutes tonight, hard to take away a lot from a game like this - -I mean let's be serious this was UNC- Ashville - - BUT still good to get our beast some playing time - -let's face it he is not going to be able to dunk every time later in the year when he plays quality big, but he is getting there. - -I really like LaGerald the guy can get to the boards, if he can get his three top start dropping did decent tonight ya just that much better for us. -- -Jackson settling in and looking good - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Nov 26, 2016 03:15 AM #192

@approxinfinity #firstworldproblems buddy remember when all you would get is a few unwanted phone calls lol

Spam bots gotta eat too, or something.

Nov 26, 2016 03:17 AM #194

@dylans a head scratcher

Nov 26, 2016 03:19 AM #195

@jayballer54

Our next opponent is even worse if you believe kenpom. The game tonight, LBSU, UMKC etc are good games to get secondary players going. Liked what I saw out of Josh, Graham, Mason, Vick, Coleby and Doke tonight. Svi was okay.

Nov 26, 2016 03:26 AM #196

Glancing at stats...

Doke 8-9 for 17 points!!!! Self has decided to put the team on his back 5 minutes at a time. But he needs to watch the TOs and get back on the glass. A Deuce and Three Quarter footer with 3 reebs? Pitiful.

Josh had a really active floor game. I'm loving 4 reebs, 2 steals, 7 assists, 3 blocks, only 1 pop tart, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Frank being a man, but Frankie, don't let those pop tarts creep up on you.

Devonte? 4 FGAs? Guess he was gassed from 6 boards and 11 assists. I'm still very worried about his knees.

Vick just iced most improved back court player for the pre con. Hyper efficiency. 6-7 FG and 3-4 3pt and and 9 boards!!! Holy cow! Who says you have to have visible legs to glass vac?!!!!!

Bragg and Big LUKE did not look very good, but at the same time they were NOT bad. And that's improvement.

Coleby didn't do himself any favors, but he did get 3 reebs in a short time.

Svi is playing himself down the list of rotation players. He's not playing bad. He's just not impacting enough.

Lightfoot should get an earlier look next game. Not much earlier, but a little earlier.

Nov 26, 2016 03:34 AM #197

@jaybate-1.0 except for a couple bad passes, I thought Svi played very well. I really like the one on one defense he is playing right now.

Nov 26, 2016 04:03 AM #198

@HawkChamp

Absolutely agree.

But Self is making clear to him that Vick is doing more.

And Josh is doing more.

And Self believe Svi is an explosive player that is supposed to be doing more than gluing.

Self has talked a number of times about Svi's potential to be a major impact player.

Self is saying: this is NOT enough.

Nov 26, 2016 04:04 AM #199

@jaybate-1.0 self mentioned he was most excited for Vick to see the ball go in

Nov 26, 2016 04:11 AM #200

@kjayhawks Maybe 2-3 years & a redshirt but he'll get his PT down the road. Would be starting at many mid majors or some p5 schools. Also extremely talented & bright student & well self disciplined young man. Younger bro (HS Junior) is pres recruited & leaning to Air Force Academy. Baby is now 6th grade & 6' 1"He'll be recruited over, rebound, & never whine. I talked to his mom Thanksgiving. She was recruited by KU VB & went o Rockhurst. We miss em a lot. 1st class, great, absolutely phenomenal family, DNA, & pedigree. Take it to the bank he's minimum a 4 year soldier that will do anything he can for his team.

Nov 26, 2016 04:20 AM #201

@globaljaybird I love we get these quality kids!!

Nov 26, 2016 05:03 AM #202

@Crimsonorblue22 The fact we seem to no longer get Relefords, Reeds, or Chris Pipers at KU or they no longer have the chance to flourish is making my zest for CBB shrink more than just a little. We've had our spats thru the years, but HEM & I☝️ agree on one thing for dang sure. OAD's are the real fools gold🔔😬 in the scheme of a condistently great 👍 program. RCJH all day long 👶 !

Nov 26, 2016 05:04 AM #203

@globaljaybird Ya i agree, we have to have guys like that.

Nov 26, 2016 09:40 AM #204

@globaljaybird there are some pretty quality OAD guys too!

Nov 26, 2016 01:20 PM #205

If only we could be Duke/UNC and get 5 stars to stay 3-4 years. I suppose we did with Wayne and Perry but they seem to do it all the time.

3-4 year players are definitely important. I will miss Frank and Graham.
