Maybe not on the Femme Fatale' .....

Dec 14, 2016 10:30 PM #3

"Video evidence shows Bragg acted in self defense, "forcefully" shoving away a woman who placed her hands near his neck and hit him in the chest multiple times, the release said."

Sound like a text book case of self defense, Case closed. Hopefully he gets a new appreciation of what playing ta KU means and does not place himself in a situation that can end his career before it even begins. Hopefully a learning experience for the entire team as well.

Dec 14, 2016 10:35 PM #4

@JayHawkFanToo That woman is nutty as a peach orchard borer... It may be hereditary in her case. Should she receive unfavorable discipline from this quite public episode, she may be so unstable she becomes vengeful. i'd be locked & loaded - but I always am Thank You.

Dec 14, 2016 10:36 PM #5

Crazy assed people out there looking to hurt our players and our team. Carlton, stay the hell away from the parties.

Dec 14, 2016 10:38 PM #6

@globaljaybird

@KUSTEVE "Remember what Mr Rhythm says..." Too funny!

Dec 14, 2016 10:41 PM #9

The story in the Star said she was pissed because he slept with her best friend.

Dec 14, 2016 10:41 PM #10

@jayballer54 Haven't heard yet

Dec 14, 2016 10:41 PM #11

@Kcmatt7 Then Mr Rhythm may be too damn late !!

Dec 14, 2016 10:42 PM #12

@jayballer54 They charged her- that was part of the district attorney's statement.

Dec 14, 2016 10:42 PM #13

@globaljaybird LMAO.

Dec 14, 2016 10:48 PM #14

@KUSTEVE One of my all time fav funny dumb ass flicks. Another even much better is "Take This Job & Shove It" Hilariously great acting (Art Carney, Eddie Albert, Martin Mull, Barbara Hershey) in the latter & not nearly the foul language w/ Johnny Paycheck doin the theme.

It's a good thing nobody like Joe Davis jumped to conclu....oh right....

Seriously though, happy about this for a lot of reasons, most of which are not even related to basketball.

ESPN better be apologizing, pisses me off to no end! I knew he couldn't do that!

Dec 14, 2016 11:04 PM #19

The sound you all hear is the gigantic sigh of collective relief by the Jayhawk Nation...Smiling emoji here :smiley: ...

Dec 14, 2016 11:25 PM #20

Ok, so I got a question. -Now from reports or others have HEARD now here we are again but just saying IF and let me say again IF, there have been some saying that this isn't the first time this girl has been involved to players - -reference LaGerald Vick I believe, soooo since they are now filing charges on her - -is their a possibility they she could be expelled from Ku - -Think that would be a fair judgement -Again IF would that be to harsh on her? - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Dec 14, 2016 11:35 PM #21

@jayballer54 I hope so, they filed charges. Works both ways!

Dec 15, 2016 12:12 AM #22

@jayballer54

Probably not. I don't believe the school can regulate what students do on "activities" unrelated to the University, unless she is convicted of a serious/major crime and chances are she will be go to a diversion program of some sort and her record expunged upon completion. Any proceedings by the University could be viewed as retribution and could potentially lead to litigation, particularly if she claims minority status (I believe her family is from Pakistan), although in another month or so this will carry a lot less weight.

Perhaps the lawyers that post here can chime in?

Dec 15, 2016 12:19 AM #23

@globaljaybird The story you posted the link for says HCBS said Wednesday the suspension has been lifted.

Dec 15, 2016 12:43 AM #24

@JayHawkFanToo I hope they can! Especially if she's done it before. We are so eager to jump on the male, but as a mom of boys, damn sure better work both ways! Women want same rights and equal pay, and I do too!

Dec 15, 2016 12:44 AM #25

@JayHawkFanToo was this not at a frat house?

Dec 15, 2016 01:14 AM #26

Judging by the address, I'm thinking it was at one of the apartments at 9th and Michigan.

Sad deal. Public opinion hung him out to dry immediately. Paints a pretty good picture of our society in some asPects these days. I know a lot of people said to take the wait and see approach, but others were quick to castigate. I think Joe Davis, like many, made complete fools of themselves.

Dec 15, 2016 01:14 AM #27

@JayHawkFanToo ya very true, didn't really know for sure - -but sounds about right - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Dec 15, 2016 01:15 AM #28

@brooksmd Thx for the assit. Overlooked it myself.

Dec 15, 2016 01:24 AM #29

@Blown I thought it was on emery

Dec 15, 2016 01:31 AM #30

@Crimsonorblue22 yes u r correct. Same complex.

Dec 15, 2016 01:33 AM #31

@Blown was it a frat house?

Dec 15, 2016 01:43 AM #32

@Crimsonorblue22 According to the story and the comment by CB's attorney, "Soofi was “under the influence of alcohol” at the time, Chahine wrote, and she and Bragg were at the Delta Upsilon fraternity house, 1025 Emery Road."

Dec 15, 2016 01:44 AM #33

@Crimsonorblue22

I don't know. I am not sure if Fraternities and Sororities are considered to be part of the University or private institutions associated with the University; I would think it is the second. I know that in the past Frats/Sororities have lost "accreditation" or they have been put on probation because of things such as hazing, but I am not sure individual member are treated any differently than any other student.

Dec 15, 2016 01:46 AM #34

I feel sorry for Carlton and the girl involved. She's obviously going through some things and given the unfortunate news about her brother, I can understand her struggles. That being said, I can't get over the fact that he was so quickly charged and she was released simply to be charged a few days later while the charges were dropped against him. Doesn't seem like proper justice. His mugshot will follow him forever and there will always be some people that doubt his innocence simply because they'll Google his name and see a mug shot. It's possible he did something that upset her, but there's no excuse for this to happen. I can only hope they both learn from this... she can't lie and he has to avoid these situations at all costs. This is one Probable Cause Affidavit that I'm looking forward to reading.

Dec 15, 2016 02:06 AM #35

With this behind him, hopefully he will put all of his effort in class and on the court - I would expect no less than extra effort and motivation.

Dec 15, 2016 02:23 AM #36

Aw shucks, this could be the making of our future star power forward. I would bet dollars that young Mr. Bragg will keep his activities in order, and his nose to the proverbial grindstone throughout the remainder of this season. Tight grip on his zipper!

Dec 15, 2016 02:32 AM #37

@REHawk probably won't be the only one, and probably not just the Jayhawks! Today is bragg's bday too!

Dec 15, 2016 02:42 AM #38

@Crimsonorblue22 Is this the same Joe Davis you reference? If so he still just a smart elec kid- Big time all the way from the Montgomery Biscuits? Baylor intern? I ain't impressed specially if he is bad mouthing Kansas BB/Carlton Bragg.

Dec 15, 2016 02:59 AM #39

@globaljaybird did I? I read him on Twitter.

Dec 15, 2016 03:02 AM #40

@globaljaybird I don't think so

Dec 15, 2016 03:37 AM #41

Great news obviously, and ya Joe davis can kiss my back side "Carlton Bragg doesn't deserve to be at KU". Innocent until proven guilty. I said the other day I'd be shocked if there was charges if the rumors we heard were correct at all.

This guy global. Handled this Bragg ordeal like a giant d bag. If you are on twitter, go read his bad- mouthing in your spare time.

Sorry for double post. Was on wrong thread earlier.

Dec 15, 2016 04:32 AM #43

@Blown Thank you for the post because I never had heard of Joe Davis until this topic.

Reason 276 for me to never ever look at Twitter!

Dec 15, 2016 04:41 AM #44

@mayjay yep. A lot like other social media platforms. There's some good and some bad. I follow about 10-15 sports guys to keep up on Kansas/Missouri metro sports and that's about all i make the time for.

Dec 15, 2016 04:43 AM #45

@Blown that's the one I know!

Dec 15, 2016 04:45 AM #46

"Just WTH is this Joe Davis dude anyway? Someone really super special (in his own mind) or "Im-po-tant", Yeah, like maybe wearin a tuxedo to his vasectomy, or just another halfwit twitter tweeter?

Dec 15, 2016 09:36 AM #47

@Crimsonorblue22 They said it was at the Delta Upsilon frat house

Dec 15, 2016 09:39 AM #48

Not to be that guy but i'm going to be that guy for a moment, Carlton should step his game up. He's a KU basketball player even if he wasn't a good looking guy that alone would get him a higher grade of "tail" if that's all this was. Plus her family has some sketchy history. I know all kids make dumb mistakes but if I have 30 teams lining up to throw me millions of dollars in the next couple years i'd watch who i'm involved with more closely. Definitely a teaching moment.

Dec 15, 2016 10:30 AM #49

@Crimsonorblue22

It's on their front page that he's reinstated

Dec 15, 2016 10:35 AM #50

Very happy to see the charges dropped so quickly. It didn't stop Carlton from being humiliated this past week and the damage control of the situation will never restore some opinions of him. But it is very encouraging to see that all the facts have been put out there and Bragg is free to get about his life again.

I think we will see a motivated kid for the foreseeable future on the court as this situation might provide the spark he needs.

I'm also glad that nobody on this board jumped to crazy conclusions about the situation before it was over with. I think everyone is happy now besides the crazy girl!

Dec 15, 2016 11:50 AM #51

Let's see Carlton have a monster:muscle: game vs. Davidson and show his fans that he "gets it" about what playing for KU means. Hopefully he has the fortitude to put this behind him and not let it affect him going forward. His dilemma should be a giant wake up call to all of the players and hopefully no one in Jayhawk Nation will hold this against him.

I don't want to be the "Negative Ned" but this situation isn't completely over yet.

First -

"The Journal-World has submitted a request for Bragg’s arrest affidavit, which is a document filed by police explaining the grounds for an arrest."

There is a good chance this has some character-damaging information in it, and attempts have been made to block it by Carlton's attorney. So if JW releases that information, Carlton may become embarrassed and possibly ashamed.

Second -

Hopefully, this just goes away. However, sometimes one side will feel the need to address this in civil court... even when they really have no case. Sometimes it is done to create more hardship and used as an attempt to save face, or to reach a settlement agreement.

Most likely, this story will just go away. But it is a good idea to know what is still possible.

Dec 15, 2016 06:17 PM #56

@drgnslayr

I really don't believe they will find anything that has not already reported. She called the police and gave them her version of what happened, SOP for the police is to err on the side of safety so they arrested him on "suspicion" of battery. In order to keep him detained they had to charge him with something or release him which is what they did. Once they became aware that there was video of the incident they procured it and once it was proven that he did not do anything wrong and her story was false, charges were dropped and she was charged. I believe the process worked as well as it could have under the circumstances. The accuser needs to be held responsible for her actions. which obviously had consequences and could have costed Bragg his career.

I am going to guess KU personnel was on top the entire time and knew it would not take long to get unraveled and wisely stayed out of it, lest be accused of interfering, and let the process take its course.

"I am going to guess KU personnel was on top the entire time and knew it would not take long to get unraveled and wisely stayed out of it, lest be accused of interfering, and let the process take its course."

You guessed right. One very solid area for KU is their legal structure. A model for other universities.
