Doke wearing brace on wrist, big brace. Not sure on prognosis. Heard one rumor hand was broken😭

Dec 21, 2016 10:14 PM #2

@Crimsonorblue22 oh no..

Dec 21, 2016 10:15 PM #3

Sorry didn't see your post @Crimsonorblue22. I posted the picture

Dec 21, 2016 10:16 PM #4

@BeddieKU23 that's not a cast though?

Dec 21, 2016 10:19 PM #5

@Crimsonorblue22

Not a hand specialist lol. Maybe they waiting for the swelling to go down before deciding what to do?

Dec 21, 2016 10:20 PM #6

Could be pre-caution as well but that's never good

Dec 21, 2016 10:23 PM #7

@BeddieKU23 you are getting depressing! Self was asked on hawk talk about what he wanted for his team for Christmas and he said "health". Ugh!

Dec 21, 2016 10:24 PM #8

@Crimsonorblue22

I'm sorry, hate relaying bad news. Doesn't sound promising and we need Doke healthy. Wonder how he did it

Dec 21, 2016 10:25 PM #9

@BeddieKU23 rim?

Dec 21, 2016 10:27 PM #10

@Crimsonorblue22

Seems like the most likely culprit

Dec 21, 2016 10:31 PM #11

Time for Bragg to show up

Dec 21, 2016 10:32 PM #12

Lightfoot and Colby, Good Luck. Landon welcome the increased minutes. I hope every game you play is similar to last season's UWV game.

Dec 21, 2016 10:35 PM #13

@BeddieKU23

My go to answer would be Zenger...:smirk:

Dec 21, 2016 10:38 PM #14

Just like with Bragg's situation, we need to wait and see what the doctor's say. We can't say with any certainty whether it is broken or not. The good thing is we don't need him necessarily for tomorrow - UNLV is pretty bad and got beat by 49 when they played Puke.

Dec 21, 2016 10:39 PM #15

@JayHawkFanToo SZ for what?

Dec 21, 2016 10:43 PM #16

@Crimsonorblue22

Doke's injury...you know he had to be involved; he will probably have the X-Rays on EBay...:smile_cat:

Dec 21, 2016 10:44 PM #17

@JayHawkFanToo oh.

Dec 21, 2016 11:14 PM #18

By looking at the picture, looks like a soft wrist brace/immobilizer and not a hand brace; the hand does not appear to be swollen. If his hand was broken he would have had surgery and be wearing a hard hand cast instead. Based on my very limited personal experience, looks like a wrist sprain or maybe a hairline fracture they hope will heal without surgery but I could be way off. Any doctors in the house? Isn't @ralster one?

Dec 21, 2016 11:58 PM #19

Dang. On one hand, he isn't playing huge minutes but on the other the team is thin in the post as is and this slows his development.

Dec 22, 2016 12:00 AM #20

@JayHawkFanToo you stay at a holiday inn last night?

Dec 22, 2016 12:04 AM #21

@Crimsonorblue22

No, but I played doctor in my younger years...:smiley_cat:

Dec 22, 2016 12:19 AM #22

@JayHawkFanToo So you know all about swelling. :wink:

Dec 22, 2016 12:23 AM #23

@brooksmd

When I played doctor? Of course.

Dec 22, 2016 02:25 AM #24

@Crimsonorblue22

Looks like a bowling wrist support

Dec 22, 2016 02:27 AM #25

Hearing its ligament damage? Whatever it is, he is out for remainder of the season.

Dec 22, 2016 02:28 AM #26

Udoka Azubuike will miss the remainder of the 2016-17 season due to a left wrist injury, Bill Self said Wednesday. #kubball

Dec 22, 2016 02:28 AM #27

@Eric-san what?

Dec 22, 2016 02:29 AM #28

Crap.

Dec 22, 2016 02:29 AM #29

@Ralph omg...

Dec 22, 2016 02:30 AM #30

Dec 22, 2016 02:30 AM #31

shit.

Dec 22, 2016 02:30 AM #32

Is this a haunted front court this season, or what?

Dec 22, 2016 02:31 AM #33

Bad news indeed. Here is the link ↗...

Dec 22, 2016 02:31 AM #34

Do we know how?

Dec 22, 2016 02:31 AM #35

Mitchell Lightfoot, get ready, dude.

Maybe wear some ankle weights to get yourself up to 220. :bowtie:

Dec 22, 2016 02:32 AM #36

shit.

Dec 22, 2016 02:33 AM #37

This is actually good news.

Self gets bored when things go right.

Dec 22, 2016 02:33 AM #38

Even less depth in the post. 9 scholarship players. Ouch.

Dec 22, 2016 02:34 AM #39

@BShark good thing we been working on 4 guard line up. Bragg has to step up

Dec 22, 2016 02:34 AM #40

This could be the beginning of Tyler Self in the front court rotation.

Josh Jackson, time to start working on the hook shot.

Dec 22, 2016 02:35 AM #41

God help me, I do love the smell of basketball napalm in the morning.

You are starting to sound really creepy...

Dec 22, 2016 02:41 AM #43

We are not on the f&(#@(_($ naughty list Santa! Wtf?

Dec 22, 2016 02:41 AM #44

@Crimsonorblue22

I wanted Lightfoot to have a breakout year but not like this. I feel bad for the big guy.

Dec 22, 2016 02:41 AM #45

The frosh big curse continues.

Dec 22, 2016 02:42 AM #46

shit.

Dec 22, 2016 02:42 AM #47

Well bright side, doke didn't play many minutes last game. Need help here, ahhhh

Dec 22, 2016 02:43 AM #48

This is LL's chance to prove he can play like he did at the end of last year. If he can do that........for the most part........we'll be OK. Bragg in there when we go 2 bigs..........Coleby off the bench and Lightfoot when needed. Not ideal,........but the other guys have to step up.

Dec 22, 2016 02:45 AM #49

This really hurts. We will really need Bragg and Coleby to steup up now.

Dec 22, 2016 02:47 AM #50

@Crimsonorblue22

There is no bright side to this, unfortunately.

Dec 22, 2016 02:50 AM #51

@Hawk8086 you are right. The other guys have no choice but to step up and play well. Not having Doke will be noticed against big teams like Baylor and Kentucky but that just means our guards will have to apply a lot of ball pressure just like Nova.

Dec 22, 2016 02:52 AM #52

I'm more worried about next year and the loss of experience. Dok needed this year. Watching Bragg lets me know how much work it takes.

Dec 22, 2016 02:54 AM #53

As for this year, I'm hoping it galvanizes the post players. Lucas no longer needs to look over his shoulder. Bragg needs to accept the responsibility of starters minutes. Lightfoot needs to make a freakin' free throw so he can play.

Dec 22, 2016 02:58 AM #54

@dylans

Lightfoot is a PF/C in a wing's body, God bless him. He and Coleby will be pressed into service though, that's for sure.

Dec 22, 2016 02:59 AM #55

@dylans exactly - time to be men and own their spots. No excuses for any of them

Dec 22, 2016 03:04 AM #56

@HawkChamp only thing is Coach says Coleby still not right, says he is dragging leg, so you can't really count on him - - gonna big huge problem when Landen gets in foul trouble for sure. - - Mitch just DOES NOT have the muscle to compete inside this year,- - -Bragg reluctant to bang inside - - - Coleby still not recovered this sucks - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Dec 22, 2016 03:06 AM #57

@jayballer54 structurally Coleby is fine according to Coach, so that will have to do. The others will have to have the discipline to play without fouling. Coleby and Lightfoot will have to play in order to give our guards some rest.

Dec 22, 2016 03:06 AM #58

Doke is gone for the year.

Sorry, guess that was revealed in the link above.

Dec 22, 2016 03:18 AM #59

@JayHawkFanToo

Take a deep breath.

Everything is going to be alright.

We go through this stuff multiple times each season.

Take my hand.

Then take a step with me.

Dec 22, 2016 03:20 AM #60

It's certainly good that Lucas seems to be rounding into form. No more injuries please.

Dec 22, 2016 03:25 AM #61

Well Doke. We won't forget about you. Looking forward to wooden watch next year. Already was... Still am! That 280 lb rim run and dunk from the high post in the 4 guard lineup is lethal. Until then, can still work on conditioning and explosiveness. Could be worse, could be leg or back.

Dec 22, 2016 03:25 AM #62

@drgnslayr

As i said to @JayHawkFanToo, this is just another bump in the road.

Let's just hope Doke did not break it over someone's head in the Wheel, where there would be blow back. Apparently that is not the case.

I've been wanting to stop wasting Josh Jackson on the perimeter, since I first saw his outside shot.

JJ could score some serious points working the paint for 38 on short treys and foul up most opposing post men.

I really think this could be a blessing in disguise for this team, if Josh's handlers will permit him to play inside. Self has no control over that, obviously, but we will learn soon enough.

If not, well then Carlton Bragg, basketball newlywed, is about to find out what Conference play is all about.

Rock Chalk!

Dec 22, 2016 04:51 AM #63

@jaybate-1.0 not sure about "obviously" but I agree with your point about Josh posting up on the block more - he has already shown to have a good hook shot.

Carlton is a sophomore, so he already understands about conference and the rigors of it, but now he is expected to contribute. Still waiting for him to be involved in a Perry style pick and pop about six or seven times per game. Shooting is a major strength of his and he needs to utilize it more.

Dec 22, 2016 05:47 AM #64

@jaybate-1.0

I agree that is a bump on the road, a big one at that, but by no means it is good news.

Dec 22, 2016 06:46 AM #65

Ironically, Dok had the best hands of all the big men...
