Lunardi predicting No. 1 overall to UNC?!
Mar 04, 2017 02:58 AM #1

REALLY?! ↗

@chriz Well, he does say that he expects UNC to beat Duke tomorrow AND win the ACC tourney. Doesn't say whether that would be good enough alone, or he DOESN'T think think KU or Villanova will win out. Clearly, UNC would be a #1 seed if they win out. As he noted, an ACC team has had a #1 seed in 12 of the past 13 years. If UNC, KU and Villanova all win out, then I don't think UNC will have the number 1 overall seed. Keep in mind that Lunardi, for all the attention he gets from ESPN, is no better than an middle of the pack bracket predictor.

Yes, 6 loss UNC deserves the overall #1 seed over 3 loss KU, or 4 loss 'Nova.

@DCHawker he's just bla bla bla bla! A small chubby man that seems to be important for a few weeks a year. I'm not very nice, I know!

Mar 04, 2017 03:21 AM #5

Reminds me of Maurice Levy from The Wire. So Sheisty.

!

Yeah, not sure why he thinks they are somehow primed to win out after they barely broke the half century mark in a loss against an average Virginia team. KU meanwhile, wins its conference by 3 or 4 games and somehow has a better chance of losing.

ESPN made him say it. I'm convinced.

Mar 04, 2017 03:24 AM #7

@chriz Virginia's defense is as good as their offense is bad.

Mar 04, 2017 03:35 AM #8

If they win out, they should get a one seed. Overall number one? No. Remember, they didnt even have to play at Florida state or louisville because of the unbalanced schedule. Do they even have a good road win?

Mar 04, 2017 03:41 AM #9

Truthfully I don't give a darn about the #1 overall seed. As long we get the Midwest #1 and KC it really doesn't matter. We were the #1 overall last year and still got most likely the toughest bracket.

Mar 04, 2017 03:41 AM #10

Gotta stay a little contraversial to get those clicks from people talking/outraged. His bracket seems to change daily. Don't worry it won't look anything like the actual NCAA bracket. We've received the only true preview we'll get and it was fair.

Mar 04, 2017 04:02 AM #11

Self was talking on Hawktalk about us getting stuck w/a top 2 seed had something to do w/not putting us w/ou. Think I got that semi right.

Mar 04, 2017 04:06 AM #12

@Crimsonorblue22 Michigan St. was the top 2 seed last year and Villanova was the 7th overall seed so 3rd 2 seed.

Mar 04, 2017 04:29 AM #13

Let em have it. I don't care. Hell I'll take a 2 seed as long we get KC. I dare them to disrespect this team... Double dog dare them... In fact. I'm almost rooting for that right now. Like to see what FM would have to show some folks about that

Mar 04, 2017 04:33 AM #14

@chriz

Good!

I hope it pisses off our guys and they win out!

"Done losin'"

Mar 04, 2017 04:49 AM #15

lol

Mar 04, 2017 05:14 AM #16

@Texas-Hawk-10 well so much for that, but he was explaining why ou was where they were cause they didn't want us to play each other.

Mar 04, 2017 05:54 AM #17

@cragarhawk 100% spot on! Let anyone try to disrespect Frank or Josh. Those are 2 undeniable alpha dogs. They'll answer any "double dog dare", bite it in half!

Mar 04, 2017 05:56 AM #18

Imagine if you were Tom Izzo, and Josh Jackson went to MichState instead of KU. MichSt might be a top20 team with JJ on it...

Mar 04, 2017 05:59 AM #19

This team is starting to do that late-game, turn up D intensity, steals and interceptions galore, much like the '08 guys (Chalmers and RussRob) and the '12 guys (EJ and TT) did on their 6 game Tourney runs.

Mar 04, 2017 11:48 AM #20

How does the No. 1 overall seed get to select it's region? Isn't that a new wrinkle for the tourney this year?

Mar 04, 2017 01:19 PM #21

@chriz Just look at the way ESPN pimped Syracuse after they beat Dook. Every ESPN announcer declared Syracuse "in the tournament". The Orange have lost 4 out of their last 5, own a 17-13 record, and have a terrible record outside of the Carrier Dome....BUT...they're in. Sure enough, Lunardi has them as a 10 seed.

Mar 04, 2017 01:37 PM #22

@stoptheflop I forgot about that. More incentives to get the #1 overall seed. I'd hate to end up in Memphis over Chicago... Or in the South instead of the Midwest bracket. Those tourney screwballs.

ESPN is just pinping out the game. Lunardi predicting a win by UNC while the main page predicts a Duke sweep...🎭 :shit:
