Dean Wade Might Not Play Tomorrow
Mar 09, 2018 01:19 AM #1

Reinjured his foot. He was limping against TCU. Even if he plays he won't be at 100%.

Mar 09, 2018 01:24 AM #2

@BShark ah, darn it. i feel terrible about it.

Mar 09, 2018 01:25 AM #3

@KUSTEVE If KSU loses, they will cite that. Doesn't matter that Doke was out. Also if he plays hurt when KSU already has a tournament bid locked up...

Mar 09, 2018 01:27 AM #4

@BShark Liberace will cite a play he thinks was unfair that happened with 8 minutes left as the reason he lost. Even if they lose by 20.

Mar 09, 2018 01:29 AM #5

He and the whole team and kstate fan base will also cite the Svi travel from last year as reason they lose

Let's bask in it

Mar 09, 2018 01:33 AM #9

@Lulufulu Great minds think alike!

Mar 09, 2018 01:59 AM #10

I sure hope Dean's foot get's better.....just in time for NEXT week's game.

Mar 09, 2018 02:09 AM #11

@Lulufulu Today we had #BIMN.

Mar 09, 2018 02:39 AM #12

Stress fracture. Done.

Mar 09, 2018 03:03 AM #13

@BShark for sure?

Mar 09, 2018 03:05 AM #14

@Crimsonorblue22 Coming from pretty reliable Taters. Nothing actually official yet, but I do not expect him to play.

Mar 09, 2018 03:35 AM #15

It's not true somebody just made it up

Mar 09, 2018 03:42 AM #16

He was visibly limping against TCU. So either way he is a bit dinged. Nothing is confirmed either way at this point in terms of an actual release from KSU or a news source.

Mar 09, 2018 04:55 AM #17

Too bad for Wade. He is a really good player and seems like a great young man.

Mar 09, 2018 05:40 AM #18

I don't believe it

Mar 09, 2018 12:24 PM #19

@JayHawkFanToo He is our sworn enemy...we must defeat him.

Mar 09, 2018 12:32 PM #20

@Crimsonorblue22 silo tech jedi mind trick, perhaps?

Mar 09, 2018 12:54 PM #21

@JayHawkFanToo I agree. Seems like a good young man. If that is true, I feel bad for him.

He IS hurt, but he might play through it. Watch the 2nd half of their game yesterday and focus on Wade. Or don't and just believe me. :p

http://1350kman.com/foot-injury-sideline-wade-big-12-semifinal/ β†—

He had an injury back in HS and had to have surgery on his foot. Still has a pin inside him from that. Seems like he aggravated that injury.

Mar 09, 2018 02:31 PM #24

Too bad we're not playing in Lawrence or Manhattan. Some K-State fan would be holding a sign that says "You're not in Kansas any more".

Mar 09, 2018 03:07 PM #25

I don’t see any confirmation that Wade is injured other than the link posted above which has no verification or confirmation from a credible source.

Mar 09, 2018 03:13 PM #26

@JayHawkFanToo Fitz (KSU GPC reporter) pretty much just confirmed it. Still, whenever there is official word either way I will post that.

Mar 09, 2018 03:18 PM #27

He isn't 100% to sit out the game at this point but he did 100% aggravate his injured foot. Fitz verified this on their 247 board.

Mar 09, 2018 03:18 PM #28

So w/e happens it's a positive for KU. Wade won't be healthy if he plays.

Mar 09, 2018 03:23 PM #29

@BShark

Is that info in the VIP section? I just checked GPC, 247Sports and Tim Fitzgerald Twitter account and I see nothing.

Yes it's VIP.

Mar 09, 2018 03:29 PM #31

@BShark

Interesting. As soon as KU knew Doke was injured the information was officially released. I have seen nothing official from KSU about Wade only unnamed sources.

Mar 09, 2018 03:33 PM #32

@JayHawkFanToo The strangest thing is it was quite apparent to anyone watching their game yesterday. So I'm not sure what there is to hide. Gotta keep the KU coaches on their toes I guess.

Mar 09, 2018 03:37 PM #33

@BShark

Hard to believe Squeaky would sit his best player, unless he absolutely has to, and basically concede the game to KU; any other team? Maybe. KU? Seriously doubt it.

Mar 09, 2018 03:49 PM #34

radio is confirming Wade is unlikely to play. Matt Tait just tweeted it as well. Will have to keep monitoring

Mar 09, 2018 03:51 PM #35

@BeddieKU23

I guess Squeaky does not need to blame the refs now...

Right he's got an injury to blame now. Maybe he'll blame Azubuike while he's at it for causing a chain reaction

Mar 09, 2018 04:07 PM #38

Kansas St is in the tourney, no need to risk your best player now if you have a chance to have him healthy to play next week.

Mar 09, 2018 04:10 PM #39

@BeddieKU23 Nah, he will say they just want to give KU a chance.

TRUTH - It bugs the living crap out of me that we're spending this much time talking about an opponent. ESPECIALLY A K-STATE PLAYER. For the love of all that is holy...........

Mar 09, 2018 04:48 PM #42

@mayjay

Everything seems to evolve from that one original article and anonymous sources; no offcial word that I have seen yet.

Mar 09, 2018 04:49 PM #43

@nuleafjhawk 1st team Big12. Kinda seemed important since our center is out.... Do we just ignore these things and wonder who will show up at game time?

Mar 09, 2018 04:50 PM #44

@nuleafjhawk you seem to be on edge lately....🀯

Mar 09, 2018 04:51 PM #45

@JayHawkFanToo It would have been simple to deny, though. Keeping quiet cannot possibly help KSU's strength in the perception of the Committee.

I'm worried that your not worried about our opponent!

Mar 09, 2018 05:01 PM #47

@Crimsonorblue22 LOL - do you remember what happens to us in March and April ???

Mar 09, 2018 05:02 PM #48

@BeddieKU23 I worry about opponents when they're not named K-State.

nuleafjhawk said:

That's fine we own Brucey.

I do expect you, however to worry twice as much about our opponents next week even if its a #16 seed

Mar 09, 2018 05:13 PM #50

@nuleafjhawk 195-93

Mar 09, 2018 05:16 PM #51

@BeddieKU23 Dude (I assume?) I am scared to death about the #16 thing. Seriously. We have NO business being a #1 seed, and if we actually are, i feel it's a set up by the powers that be to make sure that Kansas is the first number one to be taken down by a 16.

We've set some records this year - 1st Self team to get swept by a big 12 opponent, 1st Kansas team to get beaten 78 times in a row in a single season in Lawrence (Hyperbole is my friend). I DON'T want to set this other new record.

Mar 09, 2018 05:18 PM #52

I hope Carolina pounds Dook. Then we lock up a 1 seed. If we win our next two, I expect xavier to get beat by Nova again, so maybe we could be the 1 seed in the MW.

Mar 09, 2018 05:19 PM #53

@BeddieKU23 ROTFLMAO....PHOF!

Mar 09, 2018 05:23 PM #54

@nuleafjhawk KSU could have easily won in Lawrence. I'm sure the game today will be close. Wouldn't shock me if KSU won...

Mar 09, 2018 05:24 PM #55

@nuleafjhawk No business getting a 1 seed? Are you crazy?

Mar 09, 2018 05:26 PM #56

They are talking about UNC possibly getting a 1 seed, so this KU team definitely has a shot...

Not a great year honestly.

You assumed correctly.

I am scared about everything especially without Azubuike. We survived one game where there was incentive (revenge) to not let Oklahoma St punk us a 3rd time. We should be equally motivated today playing the Purps and the squeaky bandit. I mean its 6 on 5 on the court, literally, as Bruce squeaks 5 feet in from his boundary circle.

Likely-hood of us losing to a #16 seed? Statistically zilch. Unwritten rule, not happening.

I think if we win the Big-12 tourney despite the injury setback we deserve to be rewarded although sitting in the #2 spot in Xavier's bracket looks like a cozy spot to have as opposed to being put in the West where they will load up the bracket to beat us..

Mar 09, 2018 05:30 PM #58

@BShark It's a horrible year in college basketball. I don't think there is a great team in the whole field. Still, if we win our next 2, we get a 1 seed.

BShark said:

That's just ESPN choking on themselves as usual. If they didn't talk them up they'd have to talk up Kentucky and then circle back to Duke. Well they probably already have..

Mar 09, 2018 05:31 PM #60

@nuleafjhawk see jay baller about meds, soon. Your glass is empty!

Mar 09, 2018 05:52 PM #61

Mar 09, 2018 06:02 PM #63

I'm hearing both ways on Wade playing, kinda silly IMO. I wouldn't chance him not playing next week but doubt they go anywhere anyway. @BShark UNC as a 1 seed is crazy, the 6th place ACC team is one of the top 4 teams in the nation? GTFO lol

Mar 09, 2018 06:10 PM #64

I did some trolling on their boards - - -Imagine that lol. - -Anyways talk of that the foot he had trouble with before that the pin that is in the foot is inflamed again. - -I heard that and then also heard about stress fracture in the foot .

For me = - -I don't care really he is a good player but doesn't put the fear of GOD into me - - if he plays he plays - if not then so be it - -either way were gonna be ok.

Mar 09, 2018 07:22 PM #65

Wade's dad says game time decision.

Mar 09, 2018 07:23 PM #66

@mayjay

KSU is safely in, just a question of seeding at this time.

Mar 09, 2018 07:42 PM #67

@KUSTEVE I'm not crazy - just realistic. SO - as a one seed, what's the expectation? Final Four - that's the whole idea of getting a one seed. You think this team is final four material? Nope - neither do I.

Mar 09, 2018 07:59 PM #68

@BShark

Duke came from 10 down to beat UNC last week and probably will beat them again tonight. No way, no how, no ma’am that UNC is a #1 seed.

On a happier note, KU has picked up 4 wins over UK and 1 over UNC in the all time wins.

There was someone who stated that K-State losing Wade was like KU losing Doke.

The host said - - -umm NO it's not and I agree. - -With K-State and Wade their losing their best player-- losing 20 points a game. - - With Ku - -even though a big loss - Doke isn't even KU's best player - -DeVonte Graham is - -thought he made a very good point. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Word from my KSU friends is that he is good when aggressive but usually he is very soft. Also he fouls a lot which limits his minutes. Their other two bigs are not B12 caliber.

Mar 09, 2018 08:54 PM #81

@BShark oh geez.

Mar 09, 2018 08:55 PM #82

Stats are similar to Mitch. They have other post bodies, but none of them are any good. So I'm sure that means someone goes off for them in this game.

Mar 09, 2018 09:26 PM #83

@nuleafjhawk What makes you think that I don't think we'll make the Final Four?

Mar 09, 2018 09:28 PM #84

@KUSTEVE It would take a miracle but it's possible, pretty wide open field.

Mar 09, 2018 09:30 PM #85

@BShark He is trying to not to be penalized for losing Wade.

Mar 09, 2018 09:38 PM #86

Kansas St announced in a press release that Bruce Weber will be extended through 2032 and receive a $15,000 pay increase for losing his Star player Dean Wade to injury before Semi-Final action against rival Kansas. Kansas St administration wanted to assure fans worried about the future of their program after a narrow win Thursday in Quarterfinal action against TCU saying " We feel Weber has earned this 14 year extension", "he coaches hard" and "has earned the trust of his players and fans". "we are confident Bruce Weber will one day have no excuses who the best coach in Kansas is".

Mar 09, 2018 09:38 PM #87

@KUSTEVE Let me put it this way - I'm a pretty big KU fan. I had FF on my brain from way before the season began. After seeing us lose Billy Preston, multiple home games and lose to OSU twice - I personally don't feel we're Final Four material. With the almost unbeatable teams we've had in the past we are extremely prone to early upsets - I want to get there, I want to win the whole thing. I just don't think this is the team to do it.

Here's my challenge to the team - PROVE ME WRONG.

They( the team) proved me wrong yesterday. They have made a habit of it this season. Even our unbeatable teams have went home sulking. Maybe this one will do the unexpected. Need Doke back to do it though

KSU only has 7 wins against KU since 1990. That's kind of crazy. With the way this season has gone, KSU will probably bring that total to 8 tonight. It would also be their first win against KU in the B12 tournament.

I don't see them beating us without their best player. He's the one guy that played like Kendall Smith playing us. Having said that Jatta will probably make 5 3's and Mawien will have a career night

The Game's over (even before it started)

Mar 09, 2018 09:49 PM #96

Bill Self offers to even up the game by coaching with one hand tied behind his back.

Mar 09, 2018 10:12 PM #97

And Self sends in Sosinski in the last minute to flatten Liberace who has been beside himself due to a single bad call by the refs and the whole game has been out of the coaches box and on the playing floor. The KU football player executes the "accidental" take down perfectly. Squeaks is helped to the locker room by his assistants, bruised, stunned, but otherwise ok (and his hair is perfect still). "The Tackle", as it becomes known, becomes the stuff of legends for both teams, albeit told with slightly different perspectives. ;-)

Mar 09, 2018 11:38 PM #98

@nuleafjhawk No one knows who will be in the Final Four yet. They lost to a team in a meaningless game after they had just won the outright conference championship for the 14th consecutive year. On the road. Then they turned around and beat the crap out of them. The reason we are in the lead for the 1 seed is because we have more Quadrant 1 wins than any team in basketball. We just completed the toughest, and most competitive conference schedule with essentially 7 guys. There is nothing that this team can't do. Everytime the fan base was ready to write them off, they have proven the naysayers wrong. Now, I don't expect you to suddenly start to believe in them, but some of us still do. So, until proven wrong, I will still believe we will make the Final Four, and win the national championship. I hope I'm right, and you're wrong.

Mar 09, 2018 11:59 PM #99

Wade in a full boot and limping. No chance he was playing today. Honestly not sure how he will be ready for NCAAT.

Mar 10, 2018 12:07 AM #100

Wow, now Barry Brown to the locker room.

Mar 10, 2018 12:12 AM #101

That's about as soft a 4 minutes of d as we can allow

Mar 10, 2018 12:12 AM #102

Graham needs to take way better care of the ball. Just keep pounding away at an, no excuses with 2 guys out

Mar 10, 2018 12:14 AM #103

@BeddieKU23 Not just two guys, but their two best players. How would we do with both Doke and DG, or DG and Svi out? If the guys are focused and play with any intensity, they should be able to - and need to - put this away early...
