I'm Not Saying I Told You So Yet

But it was a big game, and Chuck Moore played 11 minutes.

Good sub

@BShark Yo I'm not calling you out but you said we'd lose 75-60 Mr. Optimist.

CAN'T WIN EM ALL

Nov 07, 2018 03:48 AM #5

@KirkIsMyHinrich What would you say if you were going to call him out?
:cartwheel_tone2:

Nov 07, 2018 03:58 AM #6

I'd probably call him a dirty rotten bastard, but I know him pretty well so it would be okay.

Nov 07, 2018 03:35 PM #7

yep, count me in on the moore bandwagon

This KU team is deeper than we've had in quite a while.

Nov 08, 2018 12:31 AM #10

I think Charlie and K.J. will be the odd men out of the rotation. They’ll get minutes if guys are in foul trouble and mop up duty.

Nov 08, 2018 12:50 AM #11

@kjayhawks Depends on what you call the rotation. I think Charlie's minutes are dictated by Dotson's minutes. Self's all in on Dotson. That's a good thing. But if Dotson is in foul trouble, and his 33 minutes become 24, I bet Charlie fills the void there. Not sold on the idea that Self sees Garrett as a number two ball handler.

Nov 24, 2018 05:23 AM #12

Has Chuck seen a shot he doesn't like?

Nov 24, 2018 05:43 AM #13

@BShark are you referring to that crazy shot with ZERO arc he hit falling backward?

Nov 24, 2018 03:36 PM #14

@bskeet

That was a H-O-R-S-E shot. From mid-air while falling down backwards, in between several defenders, off the board...nothing but net. :smile:

Nov 24, 2018 03:52 PM #15

Looking at the box score, I was surprised to see:
- KU was +11 with KJ on the floor (best+/-)
- KU was +9 with Charlie on the floor (2nd best +/-)
- Charlie played 32 minutes (4th highest)

I’m gonna have to watch the game again.

Nov 24, 2018 03:53 PM #16

@JayHawkFanToo Rec league legendary shot. I love Charlie...lol.

Nov 24, 2018 05:22 PM #17

@HighEliteMajor But Chuck as we are now apparently calling him, played with Dotson against Tennessee.

Nov 24, 2018 05:53 PM #18

What scares me about Charlie is his dribbling all over in which he looks like he doesn't have a plan.😳what scares me about K.J., which can also be good,🤔 is his abundance of energy. It's like he's had 10 energy drinks. 🤣

I'm calling him Chuck because of his bad shot selection.

KJ is Kevin Young basically.

Nov 24, 2018 06:40 PM #21

@BShark I'm not there yet!

Nov 24, 2018 06:54 PM #22

@Gorilla72 And KU was -4 with Grimes on the floor (worst +/-)

Dec 05, 2018 02:12 AM #23

Okay. I'm calling it now.

I told you so.

Dec 05, 2018 02:30 AM #24

Yes

Dec 05, 2018 09:38 PM #25

Charlie Tharpe or Naadir Moore?

Dec 05, 2018 10:04 PM #26

Charlies 3 point shooting form = Doke's free throw form.

Dec 05, 2018 10:25 PM #27

1 month of Moore isn't enough time to tell. He seems to force the issue too much, you know sort of like Frank Mason used to do all the time. Frank worked out pretty well as I recall. I'm not saying Charlie is going to be the next Frank Mason either. It's almost like you're gleeful when he fails @BShark.

Dec 06, 2018 01:56 AM #28

@BShark Naadir cost us games. What's our record? Bad comparison.

Dec 06, 2018 02:01 AM #29

BTW, it was interesting to me that Q pointed out in his after game interview that the team ran some "stuff" for him. he essentially credited the "stuff" we ran for him as a reason why his game took off last night. Vewwy interesting... was Q signaling something that is going on behind the scenes? I think so.

Dec 06, 2018 02:33 AM #30

@KUSTEVE the interview I saw he said they ran an oop for him. Nothing to see here.

Dec 06, 2018 03:05 AM #31

@KUSTEVE I doubt there is a ton to that, Self and him knew what to expect from each other at the USA games. If it’s bad I’d rather just move on from him and not play him again.

If Moore played 29.4 minutes a game what do you think KU's record would be? Thankfully, there are better options on the roster.

Also it's fine to have Tharpe/Moore level guys they just need to be bench guys.

Dec 06, 2018 04:27 AM #33

@BShark I remember watching the ou game Tharpe "won" for us. We celebrated big 12 championship win that pm, glad I was there. Holly interviewed tharpe after the game.

Dec 06, 2018 04:28 AM #34

@KUSTEVE

I seem to recall Tharpe winning a few games for KU as well. Tharpe's issues were primarily off the court but ended up costing hims his spot on the team.

Yes, that is the one I was thinking. We should remember both, the good and the bad.

Let's hope he can become KY, but with his thicker body.

I think within the next couple weeks we will see more of the guys sort of find a role on this team.

Dec 06, 2018 12:05 PM #37

@JayHawkFanToo As long as there was no defensive pressure, Naadir could light them up. Any defensive pressure, and he would wilt. Eastern Kentucky.

Ouch, but agree

Dec 06, 2018 02:55 PM #40

The reality of Moore is, he's the same guy he was at Cal. He'd be valuable in the rotation if he could hit open 3 point shots. So far his 3 ball looks about as good as Garrett's. I believe there will be games that his spark plug offensive style will help us

Dec 06, 2018 04:45 PM #41

Charlie will be fine. I predict he will get untracked, and start swishing 3s. i predict you folks dogging on him will be eating crow at some point.

Dec 06, 2018 05:03 PM #42

@BeddieKU23

Several KU players have indicated Moore is the best 3 point shooter on the team. Ha has been coming in as a backup and has not had a chance to get in rhythm quite yet. There will be games when he is in the zone and hits several.

This team is still a work in progress and trying to find its identity, we have seen glimpses of what it can do when it has the right lineup and hitting on all cylinders. Unlike last year when the option were very limited, this year the options are numerous and it is a question of finding the optimal lineup to use at the right time against the opponent at hand. Good problem to have... :smile:

Dec 06, 2018 05:22 PM #43

This team is still struggling to figure out how to compliment each other best. We have yet to really have Azuibuke, D. Lawson, Grimes, and Dotson all playing well at the same time. That's what's really limiting this team right now. We can't get our best guys on track at the same time.

And that doesn't consider that our best perimeter players (Dotson, Grimes, Vick) have not all hit at the same time. That is coming eventually.

I definitely thought he would be better than this from three.

He is a better shooter then he's shown. I've just been surprised how badly he's missed some of these shots. He has a lot of value in the rotation if he can make 35-40% from 3.

Dec 06, 2018 06:08 PM #47

@JayHawkFanToo

I know Moore will make shots and I wouldn't be surprised if he's the best 3 point shooter on this team with the roster we have. He needs to start hitting them, especially the wide open one's. I would like to see him look for teammates when he drives to the hoop as well. You see shades of freshman Frank in his decision making on those drives.

Agree and I hope you are right. He can REALLY help this team if he gets it to 40%.

Dec 06, 2018 06:57 PM #49

@BeddieKU23

...and Sherron as well, he would drive full blast the base line and get trapped there...
