Too early to worry about Texas Tech?
Jan 14, 2019 04:55 PM #1

4 games into the conference race and Tech sits on top.

They haven't dominated anyone winning games by 3, 6, 7 & 6 but they are the best defensive team in the league and have a clear alpha dog in Jarrett Culver that can carry them on offense when they need it.

So should we be worried this early?

Tech could be 8-0 headed into the Feb 2nd meeting in Allen Fieldhouse. Hard to predict they lose before unless K-St trips them up in Manhattan now that Wade is back (in which should be a snoozefest game to 50). Home games against ISU on Wednesday and TCU as well as a road trip to Baylor.

What does everyone think? Is Tech for real even this early or do we think things work out as they always do?

It won't shock me if Tech wins the league.

@BShark

I see what your doing there!

Jan 14, 2019 05:33 PM #4

If I was a betting man, I'd put money on Tech but then again several teams have had their chance to beat us and some as Tech was a year ago were even in good position to do so late in the season but couldn't. One of these years we won't win it, it will be interesting to see how everyone reacts lol.

@kjayhawks When that happens - I'll be ok with it.

As long as we win the National Championship.

Jan 14, 2019 05:41 PM #6

@nuleafjhawk Kinda like I said last year when we lost 3 home games, no ones gonna care if we get to the FF and guess what no ones talking about it or cares lol.

Jan 14, 2019 07:09 PM #7

Kind of ironic in the year we were touted as one of the top two teams in the nation we're now worried about losing the streak.

Jan 14, 2019 07:11 PM #8

@wissox Indeed. Grimes isn't nearly what many thought he would be. Otoh, Agbaji is much better than his ranking suggested. Might balance out.

With AFH as home court advantage, HCBS will find a way to win #15.

I don’t see us going any worse than 13-5. I don’t think Tech is good enough to go 14-4. They just don’t score enough (similar to KU). And we have Allen. The Old Barn is good for 3-4 wins by itself.

It seems in years past, one team other than KU starts out hot. About halfway through (or before), they’ll lose one. Then two. Then it goes downhill for them. KU rebounds and wins it! Exactly like last year. Amiright?

@Gorilla72 Lord I hope so:pray_tone2:

@BeddieKU23 I think they lose at KSU.

Kevin Durant couldn't do it. Why should I think different about TTech?

I don't have a total feel for them yet... but I do know it takes many things happening for a team like TTech to dethrone Kansas. Depth is a huge part of that. It's a long season. No one gets hurt? No mid-season slump? Will they beat us in either game? They avoid trap game loses? They win all home games?

We need to remember how young we are.... And consider how bad we've shot from trey. Shouldn't we be very hopeful that Kansas will come on strong late in the season?

I like our chances. I will always like our chances until the streak is over!

Jan 15, 2019 03:11 AM #15

I could get used to this Marcus.

Jan 15, 2019 03:15 AM #16

@approxinfinity Me too. If Dedric would wake up we may win this game.

Jan 15, 2019 03:45 AM #17

Texas Tech is Dusty Dinkleman. Look it up.

Jan 15, 2019 10:32 AM #18

@Hawk8086

I can see that happening, it should be a game to 55 and Wade is back for them. Tech's margin for error has been about the same as KU's so far. Let's hope the purple cats show up for anyone other then KU

If we get Silvio back we win it. If not we tie

Beard is a difference maker. He is going to push KU/Self. The conference title isn’t a lock...I like it. Competition can only make Kansas and Bill better.

Jan 15, 2019 11:24 PM #21

@dylans

I like it, too! I don't want the automatic conference title every year. That may have been an issue with us in some years... not having to fight a tougher conference and then stroll into March with a false sense of security.

Jan 18, 2019 07:15 AM #22

Too bad for TT.

We better be ready when ISU comes to AFH!

Jan 20, 2019 12:08 AM #23

Nope

Jan 20, 2019 01:02 AM #24

Looking like tech sucks too, amazing

Jan 20, 2019 11:46 AM #25

We got Baylored out.

Jan 20, 2019 01:05 PM #26

Hmm, maybe Iowa State or KSU wins the league.

Jan 21, 2019 11:19 PM #27

@BShark you mean ties us to win the league

Jan 22, 2019 04:43 AM #28

@approxinfinity I love how often we tell @BShark what he really means!

Jan 22, 2019 04:48 AM #29

@mayjay Have you ever seen Fran Fraschilla and @BShark in the same room? :thinking:
