Gotta start this one early too.

Weirdly I'm feeling pretty good and not super anxious about the game today. It's nice to be playing without a lot of pressure.

Hate that this game is last today. A 9:40 start for me in Ohio. Not sure my 8 year old son will stay awake throughout.

I only got to see about 3 minutes of the NE game and I'll be on the road for this one tonight. I hate missing games like these.

@KirkIsMyHinrich I am not that nervous either. I think because, unlike in past years, we are the underdog. I'll still be bummed if we lose, but I don't think it will practically ruin the rest of the tourney for me.....like it has in the past when we got knocked out earlier than we should have. More upside than downside, I guess.

I dislike the late start as well. I'm already drunk damn it.

It depends if Bill goes 4-1 or 3-2 today. Auburn's starting 5 is:

Jared Harper - G 5'11 175

Bryce Brown - G 6'3 198

Malik Dunbar - G 6'6 230

Anfernee McLemore - F 6'7 220

Chuma Okeke - F 6'8 230

Dotson will be on Harper. After that, I have no idea how we'll match up. They have a big center, Austin Wiley 6'11 260, who comes off the bench. I could see Self starting 4 guards and bringing in DMac/Lightfoot in when Wiley comes in for Auburn. Defensively, Kansas doesn't deny the pass on the perimeter at all, and their switching and pick-and-roll defense is slow. Auburn is a quick team that will probably take advantage of that. And if they are comfortable passing on the perimeter it could translate to them making a bunch of 3's today. We'll see. We did a good job of defending the 3 against Northeastern but they aren't nearly as fast as Auburn is. Auburn is more like Iowa St who we haven't looked great against.

The pg position is pretty even, Harper is really fast with the ball like Dotson.

Brown is an advantage for them, he made over 120 3s, cant even attempt to let him get good looks and he will take them regularly.

Their x factor is Okeke who likely will see Lawson on D. His inside out game can really make a difference for them and they run some high ball screen action with him like Ku does with Dedric.

Auburn likes to run, shoot the 3 and force turnovers. They are not a tall team but they have as good or better athletes then we do. A few good shot blockers too. They dont defend that great by the metrics so the key is probably limiting turnovers. They are not a great rebounding team either.

All 5 shoot it and their bench so if you see guys sagging off they should just find a bench, everyone should know they Jack a ton of shots

@DanR Crazy that they play a game between a west coast team in Gonzaga and a midwestern team baylor before a game between and east coast and midwest team. Auburn has the right to be a bit upset about the game time, at least for their fans.

Turnovers, rebounding, transition D, hot shooting (by us), cold shooting (by them), and Dotson and Dedric tearing it up from inside and out. That's my key to the game.

I also don't think we should run our set offense. Just fast break every possession and wing it.

Man I would just like to see this team make shots with confidence.

I don't know that the team is quitting. Auburn just looks better and they're making shots. Dedric is the only one that looks like he may have given up. Devon is trying, Grimes is trying, DMac and Mitch are trying. Garrett looks dead but he's at least giving it a go. Ochai looks afraid of his own shadow.

Despite the circumstance, I think it’s been entertaining. Better than guys trying to hide a bias that’s very obvious.

I guess I wouldn't say I'm surprised. I did pick this in all my brackets. We have been average this season. But its frustrating because we dont win when we are supposed to and dont we aren't. We have had the talent for 5 or 6 NCs and pissed away.

Just enjoy the last 4 minutes of Kansas basketball this season guys.

I went to about 8 games at AFH, still undefeated and I'm sad every year when it's over. I knew this year was not going to be great but I saw great games by some really young guys and I'm a KU fan, no matter what.

Just watched our players walk off the court on the news. Dotson was the only one upset, couple of guys were even smiling.

I hope Dotson stays. He might be the best point guard in the country next season.

Charlie was smiling when Auburn was running the clock out on the last possession. I think he's gone.

Yeah, the attitude of the Lawsons is not great and when one of them is your best player that kind of thing can seep into the rest of the team. Vick didn't help either.

@BShark This is a good point. The leadership dynamic was inverted on this season's team. Vick didn't act like a senior at all. Dedric is quiet and takes a lot of plays off defensively. Doke got injured and De Sousa got suspended for 2 seasons. I want Garrett and Lightfoot back because even if they suck they at least seem like they have the right kind of attitude.

@KirkIsMyHinrich Both are fine bench players. Self will probably start Garrett though.

Dotson is a warrior too.

The dynamic was definitely screwed up. Seems like Dotson taking over as leader next season will be a very natural and positive transition.

Bringing in a GREAT kid in McBride too.

He might. We didn't think Ochai would this season. Braun can shoot 3's we can always use that.

I honestly feel bad for Dedric and the guys that care but you have to care during the game fellas. You have to go hard every minute in this tournament to win most games. Anyone that has any direct knowledge of this saw him take at least 15 possessions off on defense, that's not a way to win in this tournament. I just rewatched the first half, why I don't know. But I couldn't count how many times we had 2 or 3 guys lazily walking up the court that lead to their 26 fast break points in that half or how many times we were closer to a rebound and lightly jogged or walked towards it while they sprinted and got it, then made a shot. We really played about average on offense the key stats to me are their 30 whatever fast break points and our 16 TOs. Maybe Self should use this game as an example going forward to guys of how not to play. I stand behind my statement from earlier, if we just hustled in the that half we would've had a chance. Best of luck to the Jayhawks that don't return in the future career, I'm pretty frustrated with several of them but thanks for another 25+ win season.

@Crimsonorblue22 He has nothing to hang his head about. He had a great season. I hope he comes back, and if he does I just want him to play a little more defense.
