Welcome young man!
🥰😍🏀🏀💥
NBA talent. He was hovering in the 60-70 range before his PG skills took off.
Way to go Bill. You still got it.
His dad played for Self at Tulsa so I was never worried about this one.

Was just getting ready to post that @BShark . Sounds like Long kind of sealed the deal. Massive get for Self and Co.
Wonder if any higher ranked players would like to play with him?
Might not need any. We are technically at scholarship capacity right now.
But yeah we should probably assume Dotson is gone.

Of course Matt Norlander - -1st thing how big a risk Bryce was taking - -talking about how Ku had gotten the NOA and how many believes is going to be hit with numerous sanctions. - Saying if indeed they do get hit with these if Bryce will back off and re-open his recruitment. - -Leave it to Norlander lol
Norlander is a douche.

“I was able to talk to the AD surrounding the whole NCAA situation. He cleared it up pretty much, it’s not going to be perfect, but I trust the coaching staff and that they are going to do what’s right.”
He knows it's gonna be a bit rocky and he's still coming here. Hell yes.
FARMER? - - - -you be the man - you kept saying -- " were good " - -were good - - oh I'm not worthy - -I'm not worthy - - oh yee of little faith lol -- never again Farmer ,your words are gold. - - ROCK CHALK ALLD AY LONG BABY
This is great news in that other recruits are gonna see that the NCAA stuff doesn't deter real talent from coming here.
HCBS strikes again! His reputation is what probably sealed the deal for his dad.
ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK
So
Is he considered a (gulp) OAD?
Bill is the man when he's up against it. Last spring, this fall. He's incredible. You're too kind, @jayballer73! A little birdie told me it was "nearly wrapped up" about 3 weeks ago and never heard anything different until it was official this morning.
@Bosthawk a fringy OAD. If he goes supernova and scores 20+ PPG and shoots 45% from 3 then yeah. But I think 2 years a la Dotson is more likely as of now. Bring back Silvio and/or Ochai and we're loaded for bear again.

Depends on who you ask. Some out there think he has great NBA potential. Some think he might have some growing pains stepping up to the next levels due to him not being an explosive athlete. Anytime you sign a 5 star player your expectation shouldn't be 4 years. The looming NOA could impact how long he stays as well.
@FarmerJayhawk Imagine if only Dotson goes.
Would be a great roster to play 4 out.
Guards/Wings: Harris, Thompson, Garrett, Agbaji, Grant-Foster, Enaruna, Wilson, Braun
5s: Dave/Silvio/Mitch
Cryo-ice Deep Bench: Muscadin
I agree about the 2 year plan for Bryce. He does have great size if he ends up being more PG then CG. Regardless its a homerun piece to fit next to Garrett and Harris.

All I know is you just kept saying - - " were good " - -I also heard that Bryce might be here 2 years - - Not quite sure 100% he OAD -I'll take for however long.
Thompson's make good basketball players. I can't even think of a Thompson who was a chump so this is a good get.
Still focusing on trash talk. Nothing about the fact that Kansas will be appealing whatever the NCAA decides and might even litigate their current threat.

Muscadin is going to play,, alot....
Boom...! THE Recruit that I most wanted out of this cycle. It's all good...

Yeah, the talk with Long might have convinced him this process won't even effect next year if the appeals and lawsuits drag it out for years. I usually hate delay tactics in litigation, but after the NCAA inexplicably screwed us and the kids over with their refusal to rule in a reasonable time on Diallo, Billy, and SDS (twice), I have no qualms about cheering on every possible strategy to extend it out until the NCAA staff dies of old age.

No way. Probably redshirts as he just isn't ready. He couldn't get off the bench at Sunrise.

I give you that... It is his skillset though that makes me feel otherwise. He can bring a changeup coming off the bench at both the 5 and 4.
BShark said:
@Marco I think his potential is fantastic. I would bet on him starting to play as a RS SO then possibly starting the year after.
I'm pretty excited about our frontcourt future, no doubt. I like Braun, Enaruna and Muscadin alot, their ability (Enaruna is only going to get better) to run and handle, stretch the floor. It is all good in Bill Land. A damn shame about Wilson, it will be interesting to see what his role might be come next year.
I like this kid already.
@Marco I think Wilson's best, and likely primary role is as a 4 under Bill. Marcus/Perry type but will likely take more threes than those two. From what we've seen I just don't think he is a guard/wing. Probably won't have the handles to be that at KU.
Oh and totally agree on Enaruna. His potential is enormous.
Look at how happy he is.
Awesome pic

I see the same in Wilson, a stout guy without much handle who can rebound and shoot if open, but has trouble getting open if the ball is in his hands.

@BShark read it on the phog, goosebumps! I hate people that do that to me! Bryces dad
There is some more too. Bryce confirmed that he doesn't care if KU gets a postseason ban, he will still be a Jayhawk and “I would be hurt,” Bryce added, “but I’ll still give my all every game.”
Bryce hopes he has made it so other players will be willing to look at Kansas differently now that he’s taken the chance. “I’m sure we have some more spots that can be filled,” he said, “and I love to fill them with some great players.”
Basically, he is ALL JAYHAWK. I'm excited for him and the team.

@BShark Do you work for the athletic? Lol 5-6th time I recall you post telling people to subscribe. I would but there doesn’t seem to be enough KU specific content. That’d be the only reason I’d subscribe.
I'm just telling people to subscribe if they want to read all of it instead of telling me they can't.
And CJ Moore writes good stuff but they are stretching him by having him also cover KSU and Missouri so it can't be all KU from him.
I read a lot of NBA content too so for me it is worthwhile.

Great get for next season.
High talent and moving up quickly, class guy and family.... Bryce is a major catch! Welcome to Jayhawk land, Bryce!
Does Luther Head have any kids?

@BShark The Athletic is a class act. Their coverage of anything sports is usually the best I read anywhere. Now they just need to sign Jesse Newell.
Might have to consider subscribing now that Sports Illustrated has been sold, half their staff fired, and the new business plan is designed around generating Web clicks by using lots of independent local stringers reporting on local teams.
Sad time in sports journalism.
@mayjay Print journalism is dying in favor of digital. Sucks in my humble opinion. In some ways it’s like going back to the Stone Age - no recorded history. When digital articles go away there’s no bringing them back. Also many (most?) in their haste to stay current don’t bother archiving the old info just updating and that old info and the snapshot in time it provided is gone. Poof
@rockchalkwyo click on it, but don’t sign up right away and they’ll give you a price break.
You can also use the 7 day trial to see if you find it worthwhile.
Ok great. Thanks guys!
As an aside, how absolutely idiotic is it that Kyle Mayberry can't officially comment on his own brother until he signs? The NCAA really is completely moronic.

I just saw this post. Absolutely agree. I started reading the sports page every morning when I was five years old. Boxscores where heaven -- loved MLB and NBA boxes. Nothing like it. I gave up the paper six months ago because it was a joke. Hardly anything in print and "see online edition" all the time. Can't stand looking at my phone or a computer to read a newpaper.
Something to be said for printed papers and microfishe. Sometimes perfection precedes progress.
Bryce Thompson played against Caleb Love's (5 star UNC bound) team over the holiday week. I believe Caleb's team got the narrow victory but Thompson showed his tremendous shooting touch from the perimeter cashing in several 3's with Love guarding him as well are 3-4 others in the game. I saw not only Thompson's highlight video but the full video of both teams. Caleb Love is really good as well and its unfortunate he goes to Roy but he definitely looks like a fit there athletically and showed off a nice perimeter shot as well.
Is Nike still "paying" players? Is UA?
If so, he must have given up money to come to KU. Assuming Adidas isn't "paying" players on Kansas' behalf.
Is Adidas still "paying" players on Kansas' behalf?
If he came to KU without being paid doesn't that show that top guys don't have to be paid to come to a school?
I understood "everybody" was doing it.
Do I care at this point? Why do I ask these questions anymore?
Good day.

Lol of course they are. Kentucky didn’t sign 4 5* wing players for the amazing education and scenery in Lexington.
I know for a fact that KU didn’t get Achiwua because Memphis was doing things KU couldn’t due to the NCAA stuff
Popcorn dot gif
Bryce was named mvp of the Oklahoma tournament of champions. 27.7 ppg on 53% shooting.
Details on that deleted tweet coming tonight. :eyes:
It's going to be part of a documentary. Rod Thompson actually talked to this guy and asked him to delete it. The YouTube video was supposed to be private for the time being.

Good or bad?
Things to be excited about with this guy on offense next season.
Step back 3 pointer is a signature move of his. Quick release.
Midrange game- Lost art but can be useful and effective when needed.
Ball-handler with size and gets in the paint. Will finish above the rim in transition, on cuts to the basket or around the rim in general.
Cannot leave him wide open, deadly.
@BeddieKU23 🏆🥶🔥❤️💙🥰🤩🥳😎💪🏽 Can't wait! Good kid too!
Yep, should be fun to see him and I expect he'll fit right in chemistry wise.

Love those traits , can't wait. Yet I'm not ready for this season to be over yet ya know ? - I'm ready for a solid shooter though for sure could sure use him now I've seen some game hi-lites and what's not to like ?
Big question which I truly don't know - -haven't really hear a lot about because most the time it's all about offense , my question is how is he defensively ? -- ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
Haven't heard any major complaints about him on defense.
Next year's lineup could be long on the perimeter- Garrett 6'5, Thompson 6'5, Agbaji 6'5, Braun 6'6, Enaruna 6'8, Wilson 6'8, Grant-Foster 6'7. Obviously a few of those guys could be interchangeable in a 4 guard look.

We are lucky to have him. Good timing in regards to his class as he was our only shot at a stud player with the ncaa looming. Want to find out this offseason either way.

love the look of multiple possibilities. - - flexible -- -versatile - -long - - inter changeable. - -
Just seems like a whole mix of players and the shooting ability anywhere on the court is going to be fun to watch. You can tell he has modeled his game after some current NBA guys with the step back and the cross over jab step for a jumper. Just a few I've noticed in a lot of recent videos
Ah, but will he be "ready" in Self's eyes?
If he's not someone like Braun can start to push him.
Hes an McDonalds All American. Congrats Bryce wooo

Lack of elite athleticism is massive here. If he was even Marc G athletically he would be a oad lock.

Perfect College Player. I think our Strength coach will help him with a few things once he gets here. Self raves about his BBall IQ which is the perfect guy to match with Garrett.

True. 3 seasons from him would be great! Not a bigtime athlete, but shooters such as JJ Reddick have carved out nice careers for themselves.

Pretty pathetic, actually. If the NCAA doesn't sniff a problem here they are even dumber and more corrupt than what I had previously thought.

Brings a serious microscope to the whole charade.
Seems like a lot of caution is being put out there in regards to Thompson right now. Should be good eventually though.
Adapting to the more physical college game was always a question with Bryce. Shoot, we could easily see Braun over Bryce for awhile in the non-con.
