Well looks like we got the QB for 2022 , Austin Meyers , watched some video , looks good just hard to get to worked up on him, as this is a long ting to keep a verbal commit , I'm sure more schools going to hit on him and it's just really hard to keep a verbal that long. - -keep our fingers crossed

Wow , I watched our QB for 2022 Ben Easter and Brownsburg Indiana ply St X last night. Got to say that was quite the entertaining High School game I saw for quite sometime.

Pretty well like what I saw from Easters for the game , True if you watched he made some mistakes , 2 INT'S tried forcing the ball one for sure was he just stared his receiver down from the get go - - -east pick. Not sure what he ended up with yardage wise but had to be pretty decent. Like I said Easters made a couple of bad decisions , BUT overall I liked what I saw , throws pretty nice ball, made some really nice passes, pretty decent deep ball. As for as his reads that can be fixed , not forcing things with time. I like this kid , nice size, sure doesn't run much well at least not last night, for sure more of a pro style qb then a dual threat.

The game got kinda sloppy about from the midway point of the 3rd quarter turnovers everywhere BOTH teams. - -Brownsburg defense has pretty stout run defense , Brownsburg trailed most the night. was down 17-3 at the half. Easters brought them back , well and some crazy costly turnovers by St X.- - Anyways Brownsburg scored with like 30 seconds to go in the game to tie. They have a really good receiver name of Lacy , just killed St X all night I know at long point he had like 5 catches for 111 yards really good receiver.- - In the end Easter and the boys won the game 30-24 I really enjoyed watching this. - -I think we have a pretty decent QB in our future. Now all we have to do is hang onto him. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Along those lines, if Dearmon were to get the Monroe job (I don’t think he will), first call I’d make would be to Scheelhaase. We won’t get him for a lateral move, but a chance to be OC and call plays at the hometown school? Could get it done.

Man sure like the Mad Hatter and crew are cleaning house , helping work guys out the door and now that they have their players/new faces getting rid if excess to open more spots.

@jayballer67 Meyers decommitted when Dearmon left. I kind of doubt they take a QB in the 22 class. Already have 3 true frosh plus Bean, who has 3 years to play. Plus being short on scholarships makes the numbers kind of tough.

Oh, Ok. Didn't realize that, knew we had lost some but not him. Still kinda wish he would of stuck but your probably right with Bean. I just kind of get a feeling the Bean kid will be the one that pops his head above the others. and comes out of this as the starter.

Might sound silly but myself I am feeling a lot better with the group of QB's we now have - Think it's going to be kind of interesting to see how Easters and the kid from Missouri right? develop --see there I go just jumping all over the place - -kind of nice to have some surplus of QB'S now - having said that wouldn't surprise me though if either one of these kids transfers only ONE ball -add on top of that Jalen isn't just going to let these new one's just walk right in and take his spot.

i think Here is my take but you'll probably be able to see why I'm for sure am no Coach but here is what I'm thinking right now how they will line up starting the Season I think Bean will be our # 1 QB and Daniels will back him up I think ONE of our freshmen QB's more likely then not will Red shirt. - What you think Farmer - - ya think I just wet all over myself being that far wrong ? lol

Not worried about QB in the immediate future. Just get going in the right direction and keep some continuity for a few years. That alone will go a long ways...

@jayballer67 that all sounds right to me. I think they RS at least one, maybe both of Easters and Hawley. You don’t really need 4 QB’s active. Shoot, maybe even RS Daniels and use Kendrick for garbage time if Daniels hits 4 games. Avery Johnson is going to the QB to watch, class of 23. Local kid out of Maize will be a 4* by the time he’s done.

Trevor, the WR has 4 years to play. Definitely a burner on the outside, averaged 20 yards per catch last year.

Eddie is a 330 pound DT with 2 to play. 3rd team all MAC last year.

HUGE pick up - - -a lot of P-5 wanted him in this transfer , speaks a bunch for L eipold , need a solid Ol Center that has control and can take charge - really like this guy. - How big is he again - -thinking good size to him. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Been a big day for recruits to KU today. - -Buffalo transfer recruits at that. Speaks loud for Leipold these kids wanting to follow him , and these kids can help us big time. - -DL Eddie Wilson , BIG BOY really use him with the loss of Dejon & Harris. Then we have Trevor gonna help in the WR decent season 16 catches & 319 yards and 3 TD'S in 7 games - got speed out of Tallahassee Fla like the speed on him. Had offers from Oregon - Texas Tech - - Maryland - - UCF - not bad - -not bad at all. Then the Center 1st team all Conference OL /Center HUGE Get someone who can take charge of the OL , and this is a kid that for sure can do that. - Should be more on the way soon. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Well it seems that we have now SIX transfers from Buffalo. - -DT - -Eddie Wilson ,( helps make up for the Terry loss ) Big boy like 6'4 & 324 I believe - - Trevor Wilson Wr - -kid can scoot won the High School 400 State meter & fastest was mentioned on the Buffalo team - - Mike Novitsky C read where is supose to be ranked like the 4th best C in the Nation , legit NFL prospect { Huge pick up to help take over the line and a guy that already knows the system. ) - -LB Rich Miller will help for depth in the linebackers spot - - DT - Ron McGee - -Sweet pickup to help on the DL for sure . Then we have OT Micheal Ford we need these types of guys for DL & OL think Leipold is fill critical spots for like NOW & not years down the road. Says a lot about Leipold when you get these kind of players & numbers wanting to follow to play, says a lot about the Coach, I like it. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Just to show How Huge of Pick up Novitsky is for Ku all you have to do is look at all or at least some of the more serious Schools were that were in the conversation trying to get him to come was. They were : - -Ole Miss , UCLA , Maryland , Florida , Tennessee , N Western , Texas , Baylor , & Purdue. - -Pretty nice list of Schools after him. Read where he is like rated as the 4th best Center in the nation - -Nice to be able to have those types of players. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Good question. My impression is they’re coming off the 2022 class. Which makes sense IMO. The limit in 22 was never going to be the 25 initial counters, but the 85 man cap since covid goosed all the numbers.

Really can't understate the importance of landing a high-level C from one of the best rushing attacks in CFB with a new playbook being implemented. He can come in and basically be an extra coach on the field. He already knows the calls and adjustments. It is HUGE.

Would love to see LL poach some more MAC talent that is a little underrated by the P5 schools.

Not super recently. We might be out of DL spots now to be honest. A lot of 3-4 ends are moving inside

Both LB’s from Olé Miss and Meeeeechigan are strong possibilities. The MLB from Miss led them in tackles last year. Immediate starter at MLB.

ya I think we are probably hearing the same thing. What I had been hearing was those other things had been dropped. - I just don't know , I mean the kid is obviously talented but might be a Cancer. Gavin Meyers, LB from Hays. I'll look at the numbers soon, but 16 are leaving for sure. Kyron is very much gone. Going to get some pro looks just because he can FLY and could be a situational edge rusher.

Gilyard is announcing the 17th apparently. So I think we're in a really good spot, but he hasn't decided where/if he's visiting this weekend. Could be big. Let's hope he doesn't. Immediate starting MLB for us next year. Taj, probably too early to really tell since I think he's visiting other places yet. But KU seems to be the frontrunner now. Also helps we brought in a coach he's very familiar with. There are some academic things that have to get sorted out, so it might be a situation where he can't get here until summer, which would really suck. But because of the covid year he does have 2 to play.

We aren't involved with Edwards. Not to say we aren't chasing RBs yet. We're hard after Hassan Hall from Louisville and Seyvion Morrison from Nebraska. We're looking for a burner who can also return kicks. If APH stays he's the big bruiser of the bunch. Hishaw is a load as well.

Finally, a bonus nugget! MJ Griffin (S from Temple) was here last weekend and had a great time. He's between us and Louisville, and is visiting there this coming weekend. Would be a great pair with him and Kenny.

Dam that's sad , wish we were in with Edwards guy looks like a beast , even though were not what's your impression on him? - I could be way off but just think he would really help. He's a nice situational player, not sure he's starter level in the Big 12. If we had the full 25 spots I might take a flyer. Hall and Morrison are pretty similar; they aren't huge guys but aren't shrimps like Pooka either. But they can both really fly and Hall at least was a very good kick returner at Louisville. I suspect Morrison would do the same here.

I think Griffin is good. At least a pretty big upgrade over Gilliom or whoever we'd start at that spot. He seems to me like a hybrid S/LB so we'd play him, Logan, and Burroughs together in a lot of pass situations.

Gervin is immediately our best corner and maybe our best defensive player. Secondary will look much different come spring ball. 2 years to play:
2018- RS, 2019 - play, 2020 - didn't count, 2021 (RS SO), so 2022 he'll be a RS junior eligibility wise

Small update here. Prunty was in my neck of the woods (UNC) today. Dre Bly (UNC CB coach) is an elite recruiter in Virginia. I suspect he’ll go there if he can get a waiver but idk. He’s committing before Christmas.

I wouldn't worry too much about them. RB is probably our best spot.

And holy crap what a day! We got commitments from two more transfers, both will be in Lawrence in January. First, Craig Young, LB/S from Ohio State. I love the HS scout, "One of the fastest prospects in the Midwest, could play anything from receiver to safety to linebacker on the next level. Long athlete with intriguing upside, but very raw and inconsistent. Will need nurturing but has flashed crazy potential, a blow by you receiver with the traits to develop into a top pass rusher. Boom or bust prospect for the Buckeyes. Should be able to contribute immediately on special teams."

I think he's a legit 6'4, probably 225-230. Going to play A LOT. 3 years to play 2.

Next, Nolan Gorczyca, guard from Buffalo. Redshirted last year so will be a 4x4. 6'6 290. Probably will be over 3 bills by spring ball.

Only waiting really on one more spot, I think probably a DE.

How good does it feel to have a competent Coaching staff that knows what the hell they are doing ? - A staff that reconizes the pieces they need and go out and answers those needs. Farmer were on the verge - -were on the verge not saying were there but Buddy were coming and coming fast.

love the way he can throw on the run. I think he has pretty decent size what 6'3 ?. Was kind of surprised Hawley left us and entered the Portal. Between the two I thought it would be Easters that left.

So Kendricks and Hawley leaves - -Easters stays for now. I have no problem with Kendricks. He did the best he could for us when others hurt hope nothing but the best for him.- -I'm excited from what I've seen with Vasko

He was committed to ODU forever. Virginia also had a bunch of covid restrictions for high school sports so I think it was a matter of people just not getting to see him and being committed to a G5

Third QB in the portal: Miles Fallin. I have a feeling he and Kendrick are just retiring, but since they’re in the portal technically we get extra initial counters.

Think Coach L and staff has done a good job finding guys to come , we have gotten some pretty dam good transfers Gervin ( Michigan State ) - - - Morrison ( Nebraska ) - - - Gorczyca ( Buffalo ) - -Young ( Ohio St ) - -Gilyard ( Central Florida ) - -these guys are guys that can help instantly giving depth - -our secondary could be pretty salty. - Still hearing lots of rumblings that Prunty is coming back quite possibly

Picked up a pretty decent QB I think Vasko. Read in the article where it said the reason he might not of had a lot of other offers was because they had a lot of covid restrictions - -all in all think we gonna be fine. Love how he is starting to make connections with more Kansas kids true they might not be big time but were getting in the door something previous staff refused to do burnt a lot of bridges but PWO'S for Kael Frakes from Lenexa & Grant Glasgow out of Lawrence.

Think we also got a sweet pick up in Kaleb Purdy - had offers from Iowa St - - K/State - - Michigan - - & Missouri to name some - -still got othes possible come Feb so I'm jacked lol

I would be FLOORED at this point if Prunty came back. Like head sewn to the carpet surprised.

All in all, I’m ok with what we got. It’s going to be a looooong 6 weeks making sure they all show up.

I don't know guys maybe I need to take my Crimson & blue shades off. Yet my takes and maybe just my take but I am so imprssed with Coach - - -everything about him. The way he addresses himself & the way he handles things. Man I hope he sticks awhile.

I was listening to some snipits of one of his conferences from today and he was trying to break things down for the everyday clown like myself so I can understand even on my level lol.

He was talking about when he got here about how unbalanced we were at certain positions depth wise , saying it wasn't that the kids didn't have the talent but just way off center in some positions depth wise how they are trying to get that straightened out He was talking about how he thought that we ar actually in a position where we could be at our 85 max Scoli limit even yet in 2022 , with additional commits in Feb , and how the deck had been so stack against us pointing out as an example with the K/State game, taling about starts. - -How many starts our boys had compared to their kids starts. - talking about we were at about half MAYBE 60 %.

He was talking about how the portal has changed the whole recruitng - the way you approach , whole different landscape as he was ask if he thought we would be bringing in any more High School kids this cycle he said posibly maybe a few but with the portal and guys that can bring exprience to spots that need taken care of for depth changes things.

I don't know I just think the guy oooze class , like a 1st class guy/act. - I think and have said before we have our Coach to get this done. I think we start getting some more W's and being competitive then in a few years we can possibly get the funds to upgrade this rellick of a stadium make it a little more attractive to some recruits our stadium needs to be upgraded in the worst of way - -I'll tell you one thing , the interest from fans is for sure on the up tick for a change - -people really showing some interest some hope some light at the end of the tunnel. - -Gonna be interesting to see how fans turn out next season , we competitive I think you'll see fans coming back and getting some Jayhawk butts back in the seats - -Let's do this - -I'm stoked can you tell lol. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

I'll give you a pass for having no idea about this recruitment and why it was so crippling, Regardless of the position he'll play in College/Pro. BTW he would have been the #1 ranked WR as well if that was the position everyone thought would be his focus at the next two levels.

Just tonight like three different recruits talking about visits or offer - -I realize at this point the one's that are still there are not quite the level but more possibly developmental but point being staff still showing them they are noticed. - I love that and I think that can only bode well for the staff for 2023 and future the local schools knowing that KU wants the local kids enough of the raiding by Iowa State and others

The question is - - -is there a limitation of how many Walkon's a program can have Farmer? - - -or is there a limit number of PWO's is there a number on them - - -Thanks

Hey Jay! I’ve got an answer. The limit spends on how many players you have on scholarship. The limit there is 85. The total roster limit is 105. So if you’re full, you’ll have 85 scholarship, 20 walk-on. If you have 75 scholarship, you can have 30 walk-on. We’re going to be VERY close, if not right at 85 so probably no more than 20 walk-ons.

Dude you’re so right. This staff had a plan and is executing perfectly so far. I’m still a year away from saying it’s a real success because we have to nail the 2023 HS class. I bet they’ll try for 18-20 HS kids and the rest transfers.

Man.. there’s no way of knowing that for sure but Gill at the absolute latest. I would guess probably 2007-8. Beaty got close one year on the back of JuCo’s + blueshirts but that went belly up pretty quick so idk if he ever got there.

Thank you so much , I knew you would be able to help me out - -It just looks like Coach is wanting these Kansas kids to know that KU has not forgotten them and it's not like previous Coaching staffs. There are some real diamonds in the rough here and I think the way Coach handles his recruiting he is fully aware. - I can't say enough about how much respect I have for this guy. - I think we got a real steal with him, and think this IS our guy that's going to straighten this mess out. - -EVERYTHING he has done and or approached is just I dunno seems class , smart - -think we got us a really good staff - hope he sticks

To put how much better the pass rush could be next season between these two and Phelps - we had 15 sacks as an entire team last year... LL trying to build a defense through the transfer market and I am HERE for it.

I’ll trust the staff’s process. They offered so they must feel like they can integrate them into KU’s culture. So I’ll say sure let’s give it a go.

Yeah, he decommitted from Washburn a couple days ago. Looking good for the good guys.

Kunz looks like he has the athletic ability to play D1

Like I looked at Kunz's Hudl profile and sort of scoffed at the 4.53 40 time. But then I watched the tape... He probably is. Guy can scoot.

Really impressed with his ability to rollout to the left and throw.

He’s got tools for sure. Grew like 4” between JR and SR year. Perfect PWO type.

Dorian Hinton, OG transfer from MTSU, will visit in March

Something I feel I think getting these 10 Super Seniors back is Huge. - Nice lift/bonus for us , as there are some that has played a big role and gives us needed experience. Malcolm Lee played in all 12 games - - Earl Bostick played in all 12 games I think myself getting Bostick coming back is Big ( experience leadership for the younger guys. Then Caleb Sampson played in 10 games thinks he also is big , -then having Takulve Williams , Sam Burt & Eddie Wilson can only help.

See where we got a commitment from a WR from the portal from Minnesota, him and Ky was in the same recruiting class 6'0 Douglas Emillen - had I think said like 23 offers - Kentucky , - - LSU - - & Miami to name some - - -Welcome aboard.

Also read I gues have a legit shot a Ol from the portal said he was high on KU - -Spencer Lovell from Arizona St 6'6 and 325 lbs - -we can always use the big uglies for sure/ depth

Looks like the NCAA will do away with the cap for at least a year or two to deal with all the turnover and covid year stuff. TBD if they bring it back once all this calms down.

Well see we got commitment from a DE. - -Davion Westmoreland 6.3 240- - Seems like good size decent size for DE - out of Hutch Juco - - 11.5 TFL'S - -& 6.5 Sacks - -not sneezing at that. 3 yrs of eligibility and a red shirt. - -Famer ? - - thoughts ? decent or no ?

Westmoreland is up to 260+ now, so he’ll play the SDE spot opposite Phelps. I think he’s solid depth, but not starter material this year or maybe even next.

I think we have the best shot at Grant. Have the feeling Bunkley-Shelton goes to OU and Williams Nebraska. But it’s really good we got those dudes to all visit. Gives us a punchers chance

I think without a doubt that KU has finally gotten THE Coach w have needed for so long. - It's just that every time I listen to the guy, just seems so self confident an really has THAT plan that we need making sure along the line that we as fans realize we have a long way to go - -BUT we are getting better.

Well coming to the realization -- no matter who the Coach is, bottom line is in recruiting for us at this point boils down to wins/on field performance / .Ku has done decent in recruiting mainly portal but now were kinda caught between a rock and a hard spot.

Thing is it's going to come down to wins and progress to be able to attract more players in recruiting Coach has done well , but now we have to show, get some interest or more interest to these kids that might be on the ledge trying to decide between KU & another school on where they are going to land .Be even more competitive.

We have lost more then our share of in state players to that other school / Iowa State- -w have to make in roads gets these schools respect back. Our previous staffs have really damaged our relationships with a lot of in state schools and recruits - Time to take that next step

I could not be a bigger fan of this offer. Could be done sooner rather than later. KU or Baylor for Clements. He's visiting KSU this weekend but they're not really a factor IMO

oh , ok bud, I didn't know. just ran across this article - -think it did mention Baylor as he was talking about getting away from home and finding himself. Yet he also said how many times he had been to KU being so close, think his commit to where ever is a ways off yeet though nothing soon

Grabbed the ironically named Dominick Puni, a 6’6 320 pound tackle from UCM. He hasn’t played in a couple years (injury last year, no MIAA season in 2020) but did start every game for them at LT in 2019. 3 years to play 2. Wild thing is he committed in March and just… didn’t tell anyone

Newer too football, so my guess is he flew under the radar in HS. Hope he ends up being a contributor. Have to love what they've brought in. Between him and the Buffalo transfers, there appears to actually be depth.

It'll be interesting to see if there is any shakeup amongst the returning starters. I'm guessing not. So that leaves LG as the only spot open (which is awesome). The OL was MUCH improved a year ago, even if they weren't amazing. But the really, really good thing going on right now is that they have a lot of young guys at this spot on the roster.

If I were a betting man, Reed-Adams finds his way into the starting lineup. That is a large, large human. But the point is that the OL actually looks to be in pretty good shape? Returning 4 starters from a team that was hitting their stride late and the other 10 guys have been in a college football system for at least 1 season if not 2. They should have 3 starters returning for the 23-24 seasons, and in theory if everything goes perfectly they could be returning a set of 5 starters for 24-25.

Mercy, I'm tellin you what - - one thing for sure Coach L is loading the D for sure, I think this defense - - this team might just surprise some people. Some of these transfer people pretty dam good, this D has a chance to be pretty salty.

Thats good news, if nothing else adds depth. - Read his article , knew it was going to be a quick decision from the way he was talking. Mentioned some Schools wanted him to wait until December which he didn't want to do , losing a year. - -Said he didn't mind being a part of rebuilding like I said we can always use more depth, who knows he might be a big piece
