@DCHawker career limitation which is why he won't be in the NBA.

I expected Martin to have fired up about 5 shots by this time but he hasn't shot yet.

Has Bill already ruined him? My column:

Michigan State Game Thread • Nov 10, 2021 12:14 AM

@DCHawker Dave will be bothered by anyone long and athletic

Michigan State Game Thread • Nov 10, 2021 12:12 AM

Very happy with JCL. He is 25 years old which is wild.

We’re going to be really good on offense but wow it’s clunky so far

Yeah you can see we have the pieces. Get JWill back, learn how to play together etc

@wissox said in Michigan State Game Thread:

What happened to Dave? Did he not play in that whole sequence between TO's?

He has been very bad. I'm not surprised because the guy MSU had on him had a massive length advantage.

@DCHawker said in Michigan State Game Thread:

Kinda surprised that it's tied - seems like they've played better...

MSU is not good so that helps a lot. With JWill we kill em.

Michigan State Game Thread • Nov 10, 2021 12:07 AM

Wow great job JCL

Yeah I’m not buying

Looks like the same CB.

Dave struggling against length isn't a surprise either. Mitch being the back-up is rough..

Michigan State Game Thread • Nov 09, 2021 11:59 PM

CB most improved? Doesn't look like it...

Michigan State Game Thread • Nov 09, 2021 11:52 PM

Great job talking about the Duke UK game

Michigan State Game Thread • Nov 09, 2021 11:47 PM

Don't expect Jalen to start again immediately.

Michigan State Game Thread • Nov 09, 2021 11:44 PM

@KirkIsMyHinrich When Bill realizes who the best players on the team are yeah

Michigan State Game Thread • Nov 09, 2021 11:43 PM

@rockchalkjayhawk Harris, Remy, CB, Och, Dave

Michigan State Game Thread • Nov 09, 2021 11:39 PM

Remy going to be on a "tight leash". :face_with_rolling_eyes:

Tait saying Cam Martin will redshirt. Wonder what the deal is there? I'd heard zilch about that.

Crazy! Don't think he would factor in much next year either but if he loves being in the program, there are worse guys to have around at the end of the bench.

It's weird for sure. Self and co know what they're doing I guess he's decent insurance. Also gets his whole master's paid for which is probably some factor. Doesn't seem like a pro.

Sounds like he just doesn't have it athletically for this level in the eyes of the staff. But yeah next year the next oldest guy in the post will be Zach (LOL) barring a vet transferring in. So it's always good to have an older guy around, for practice if nothing else. If he helps bridge next season that's a bonus.

I hope he finishes like 4th in the league and saves his job again. Trademark Bruce

It works great until it doesn't. Still wild to me that KSU hired him.

Taller but not better.

Bill would call MSU "soft", Izzo probably does in practice.

Non-KU Games • Nov 05, 2021 11:56 PM

Kentucky is losing their exhibition at half time to D2 Miles College by 7.

Can imagine the Kentucky boards right now.

First Impressions from last night • Nov 04, 2021 09:20 PM

@Woodrow I'd rather have Sydney Curry than Cam Martin, oh well I guess.

First Impressions from last night • Nov 04, 2021 07:49 PM

Bobby is the future of the PG position at KU for as long as he wants to be here. Hopefully 3-4 years!

Remy I see being similar to the Newman situation. Self will ultimately play him because he is such a bucket getter and has to play. Hopefully he has a similarly awesome March.

Pretty easy to forget we were without a clear top 4 guy on the team and JCL a likely rotation piece. Obviously ESU is not good and the last 10 minutes were really not good at all because of Self playing walk-ons, Cuffe etc But I was pretty happy with most of the guys that figure to be rotation pieces.

The post situation behind Dave is obviously an issue. If Zach isn't that much worse than Cam/Mitch I'd take my lumps to get him some game reps but Self typically doesn't do that. Will be really nice to get JWill back.

@BeddieKU23 said in ESU Game Thread:

This team needs McCormack to play as many minutes as he can a night. No doubt he's going to have to find a way to stay on the court

Pretty much figured this, but last night definitely confirmed it.

ESU Game Thread • Nov 04, 2021 02:17 AM

@COHawk injured so he did not play

ESU Game Thread • Nov 04, 2021 02:09 AM

Obviously KU wins this game by over 50 with real rotations but I'm glad Self experimented. If not tonight then when.

@Crimsonorblue22 said in ESU Game Thread:

@BShark so we got Mitch for a 5 back up?

I still think it should be Cam, but it's a bad scene for sure. Need JWill back, one of our best 6 players easily and has good size.

ESU Game Thread • Nov 04, 2021 02:04 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 said in ESU Game Thread:

Remy and Harris, plus och, cb and BD look pretty salty. Jalen?

I was happy with Remy, Harris, Dave, Ochai, CB, Bobby. Yesufu was solid despite missing shots. KJ better than I thought based on things I was hearing. Everyone else underwhelmed for various reasons but I can't imagine we see Zach or Cuffe get real game action this year so they are not a concern. If Bobby is this steady against D1 comp I want him getting minutes this year and I am very much buying what I've heard about him being the future of the program.

Our core guys (the first 5 I listed) played well. JWill is a core guy when back. Good 6 man core there.

ESU Game Thread • Nov 04, 2021 01:59 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 Bill would do well to looks to run plays to get Cam looks from three if he is going to play him but it goes against his nature...

ESU Game Thread • Nov 04, 2021 01:50 AM

Lol at Remy only playing 18 minutes.

The +/- are about what you would expect from watching the game.

ESU Game Thread • Nov 04, 2021 01:28 AM

Last 7 minutes have kinda sucked but then the line-ups have been bizarre so idk

@Kcmatt7 said in ESU Game Thread:

@BShark I don’t think he finished his college career here, but a lot can change. Just seems so slow and not a great fit. Bill won’t care if he shoots 60% from 3 if he can’t play D. Saw that with BG

Agree, it is a concern. More athletic bigs coming in too.

ESU Game Thread • Nov 04, 2021 01:13 AM

@FarmerJayhawk we knew this tbh

ESU Game Thread • Nov 04, 2021 01:13 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 no

This is a great game to get a look at other guys like Zach.

ESU Game Thread • Nov 04, 2021 01:11 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 Cam? no.

ESU Game Thread • Nov 04, 2021 01:10 AM

As much as Remy isn't exactly a Bill Self PG....Bobby might be the definition lol.

@Kcmatt7 said in ESU Game Thread:

Poor Bobby looks like he’d get run in a normal year… too deep this year

He feeds the post and moves the ball so well for a frosh. Easy to see why Bill loves him.

ESU Game Thread • Nov 04, 2021 01:00 AM

Whew Bobby. He missed that lay-up but that was a nice sequence

@Crimsonorblue22 said in ESU Game Thread:

@BShark weird they aren’t playing him at all, huh?

I'm not surprised. Just about everyone else there is a chance they play some this year. If he is committed to the process and redshirting he doesn't gain a ton from getting in there against ESU. Might be fun to see though.

ESU Game Thread • Nov 04, 2021 12:33 AM

@KirkIsMyHinrich well, yeah

ESU Game Thread • Nov 04, 2021 12:33 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 He could play in this game and still RS. But yeah he should be redshirting. He's been soaking things up, he and his family understand that he needs time is what I heard.

ESU Game Thread • Nov 04, 2021 12:32 AM

@KirkIsMyHinrich I like what I saw from Bobby and Zach.

ESU Game Thread • Nov 04, 2021 12:15 AM

Bobby has been nice, no dumb mistakes. Cam looks great but then again we know he was really good at this level already.
