ya what I was thinking what the hell was that. And to be honest I didn't see anything

Just an everyday play to rebound and defender was penalized. They can't even hide their bias

@benshawks08 said in 2021-22 PER's & Stats:

Just did some scrolling on this thread and interesting that Dave has been pretty consistent in PER for most of the year after a couple of bad games to start. Och has come back to earth a bit while still being pretty dang good. I'd have thought Och would have been leading this team in all the PER stats all year but that doesn't seem to be the case. Did we undervalue Dave when he wasn't passing the eye test?

FYI his per was 27 last yr. It's easier for bigs to have higher numbers. Och having an elite level showing for the most part up 7 pts from last yr. Brauns numbers also way higher this season, almost 7 as well.

2021-22 PER's & Stats • Feb 07, 2022 07:13 PM

@Kcmatt7

Yeah style of play in the league this year is bad. I think defenses are better this year because everyone has 25 year olds up and down the lineup.

8th is about right besides when we play like we did Saturday then obviously we are capable of being ranked higher in metrics/polls. If this past week was the start of one of those KU runs we may see a rise up on everything. We'll see.

King McClure did a KU game on ESPN + this year and he barely finished his career at Baylor a few back. I would definitely like to see ESPN switch it up. This crap he went on about Allen Fieldhouse and Braun was redicilous

oh for sure its not a trade.

2021-22 PER's & Stats • Feb 07, 2022 06:36 PM

@Kcmatt7

Yes this incorporates all games played for Och. He has had an unlucky run of it when you think of games missed due to things that were not in his control.

If we took his 13 ppg career average x 22 games to his current total that would be 1356 + 286 = would put him #15 all time going into tonight's game. It's a big difference that he doesn't have those extra games

2021-22 PER's & Stats • Feb 07, 2022 05:04 PM

Updated post Baylor spanking

Ochai sits at #30 all time. He needs 16 points tonight to pass Marcus Morris, 18 to pass Adonis Jordan & 20 to pass Richard Scott.

Texas favored • Feb 07, 2022 01:10 PM

Texas is 14-1 at home. They have 5 losses in Quad 1 games.

Certainly have to be concerned about a letdown after a huge victory. It's short rest where we have to travel and they do not.

They have held 5 of their last 6 opponents below 70 points which is significant for a KU team that averages 80 a game. The only outlier recently was the super charged road game at Texas Tech where emotion was higher then the game.

According to Torvik they are 97th in offensive efficiency & 17th defensively which is no surprise under Beard. They are top 10 in forcing turnovers so that's a concern for a KU team that can get leaky with the ball on the road (see ISU).

They are a poor defensive rebounding team so hello David and Jalen here.

Their 2 pt defense is Top 25 & 3 pt defense Top 50.

They have bigs that can score around the paint so its important we get a good defensive effort there to force perimeter shots. Ramey is their most efficient perimeter scorer but between the trio of him, Jones & Carr there isn't much separating them on makes vs takes.

Hopefully KU rides their confidence train into Austin. Play solid d, rebound and make enough shots that you get. If KU can get some run outs to change the pace of the game they stand a really good shot. If they let Texas keep it in the 50's, low 60's I'm concerned.

Texas favored • Feb 07, 2022 12:36 PM

Not to mention they have a "rat" on staff now in Snacks.

@bskeet

Yeah Brooks made a lot of short range jumpers too. Oscar made long 2's, same for Wheeler. Those 3 shot above their pay grade. Happens

Talent Wins Games • Feb 06, 2022 10:39 PM

@Crimsonorblue22

They also shot 60% plus for a majority of the game. Don't think that kinda shooting would happen again
