I just don't understand how every possession ends with Dave shooting
It's on Bill
The kid is just a ball hog
I just don't understand how every possession ends with Dave shooting
Braun. What ya doing
Layups r important
Pathetic
If they practiced we certainly don't see it
Well the offense still thinks Dave should shoot
At least no fran
Same starting 5 as usual
After the 3 game skid, finally a home game against an easy opponent. We pasted TCU on the road in what feels like years ago. Seems like Self hit the reset button with the team and expecting an inspired effort tonight. I hope this leads to better results the rest of the season.
I cringed in several ways reading this..
Good point. His defense in College looked like it could have been really good in the NBA but at his previous stop he didn't seem that interested on that end. Seems like the change has made a difference with him

Can't help the NCAA's case..
Kansas st only down 12 after the first TV timeout against baylor
Duke avoided a 4 game losing streak by beating powerhouse Georgia Tech
Kentucky handed their 10th loss by Alabama. They were up 54-52 with a few minutes to go and was outscored 16-5 to end it lol
Texas only had 8 players and was without their best player (Ramey) and Jericho Sims.
Made the top 10 for finalist of the Jerry West award given for best Shooting Guard.
SCARY part is Ochai has another level to reach
The info coming from the team has been tight lipped for several years now..
The staff's ability to retool shooting strokes is the last of my concerns. Good details.
However I'm pretty sure Tyon's jumper is unsaveable.

Shaka tested positive for COVID-19
Would be a big upset for OU tonight. Shaka in isolation..
Grad Transfer/multi year guy doesn't matter to me either. I simply ran to the ESPN stats and found these 3 guys scoring and assisting at a high rate with more then 1 year left. 2 of the 3 have familiarity with Self. Davis was a guy I thought would be pretty good as he got older. I also seem to remember him playing well against KU as a freshman. Sherfield has thrived getting away from Wichita St. and the staff recruited him for a while.
I'll say it now, I'll be deeply disappointed if we don't get a guard for next year that can impact the team
The free year of eligibility figures to make the transfer market extremely competitive this spring.
I wonder if Self would target a 5 year type guy or a guy with multiple years of eligibilty left.
Here's some early options
Jalen Moore Jr- Oakland- 18ppg, 8 ast
Kendric Davis Jr- SMU- 19ppg, 7 ast (former TCU player)
Grant Sherfield Soph- Nevada- 18ppg, 5 ast (former KU target)
So far shooting a career best 40% from 3 for Golden State. Helped them beat his former team last night. Seems to be fitting in well in Golden State
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Wilson improve on his own, most likely at the direction of S&D coach from home?
Good stuff in here. Would love to know which team stunk it up yesterday..

@SlickRockJayhawk said in Thursday nights starting 5...:
@BeddieKU23 I like that starting 5! It's interesting to get opinions from other people's perspective. Like you, I think my list would differ from Self's, but here it is...
Starters: 1 Harris, 2 Agbaji, 3 Garrett, 4 Lightfoot, 5 McCormick
Order off the bench: 5 Wilson, 4 Enaruna, 2 Braun
Closing minutes in a tight game: 1 Harris, 2 Agbaji, 3 Garrett, 4 Wilson, 5 Lightfoot (Harris only if he's handling pressure well with ball handling, and Lightfoot only if he is stout on D, otherwise swap for Enaruna)
Interesting lineup with the 2 bigs starting. Definitely think we can move Garrett off the ball and use Harris to initiate offense.
I don't love that 5 either but at this point Enaruna might get you 8-10 points a night with 25 minutes. He has averaged 5 the last 5 playing 13 minutes per without Thompson. Worth a shot to see what spark on offense he can give this team.
One thing Self hasn't done yet is settle on lineups. You see a lot of different combinations out there and some of these lineups fail before they even play 3-4 possessions. I think he could cut down on who's playing with who and really dial in who subs in and when.
I think the offense could improve by running a ton of ball screens on top or even after 1-2 passes. Force rotations, create an angle, get someone open or on a drive and kick. There has to be more life to this offense coaching can implement then what we have seen.
Definitely need guards. Guards that can shoot. We have wings that can shoot but not guards. Thompson will improve tremendously over time. Unfortunate year he's having

@jayballer67 How can someone watch KU play and think, yeah 15 is about right?
I don't think a lot of voters actually saw the games. KU has been in the poll so long I guess they are going to give us the benefit of the doubt until the media starts noticing.
My list will differ from Self's.
Starters: Garrett, Harris, Agbaji, Enaruna, Wilson.
Order off the bench
Braun, Lightfoot. Dave for foul trouble or matchup against lumbering big (see TCU). TGF, play if up 30.
Same as #1, insert Braun if playing well.
Yeah Wilson made a big jump but he's a freshman being asked to carry a big role. He should be playing the 5 almost exclusively to exploit the matchup he has. His defense has a ways to go. He's got a bright future, to average 13 and 7 as a freshman at KU means he's got something, just needs further development and maturity.
Ochai, much improved shot. He's the quintessential 3 & D guy. Would be a perfect 2nd or 3rd option on offense.
I thought the new S&D guy had a big impact in year 1 here. Udoka was a changed man physically. Dotson was a beast as well. Ochai has changed his body here significantly. These guys had an nonexistent offseason with the S&D coach on campus. Sucks.
I thought coming in this was a rebuild year but even being prepared for one I haven't been able to grasp how poor the play has been in the last month. The offense has really been the biggest shock to me. We just lack guys that can get buckets consistently. I underestimated how limited some of the guys were.
I guess voters aren't paying attention to our losing streak. KU fell 6 spots to #15 this week. Guess we've earned some clout.
@drgnslayr said in We are who?:
I'm skeptical that just shifting minutes around is going to fix much of anything with this team. And I think it will be completely counterproductive to do some of the old methods of yanking minutes for guys not executing. The problems are systemic. We have to address the overall health of this team. We've seen moments this year when this team could beat anyone. It's there. I know getting hot from trey is part of that. But getting hot usually happens because of other things being present... guys moving feet, executing a plan, feeling optimistic, having leadership, etc...
Look back in other years.... when those teams had brief skids... what happened next? Someone on the team stepped up in leadership and announced a team meeting where they united with a purpose; to reclaim team identity as well as make changes to win. Turning around this season will not be like climbing Mount Everest. We have plenty of talent and mixed experience throughout the roster.
Yes... I wish we had Doke and Dotson... but we don't. I do very much like the pieces we have and I know we can win with this group and we can even surprise some people in March!
The first order of business.... is to shore up our fan base. If the fans can't get behind these guys... they will be climbing Everest.
RCJH!
Valid skepticism right now about shifting minutes.
It's crazy to think a team that has played 2 games in 11 days would look the way they have. The problems are systemic on both ends. He doesn't seem to have 5 guys that have bought in together on either end. Blame that on covid- lack of an offseason etc. Some of it may simply be, this group just doesn't have it. We've been so spoiled with consistent excellence.
The offense is very limited, shooting 44% as a team. I've been preaching for weeks that this is the bigger problem of the two ends. Guys will play better when they score. After a hot start on Saturday, KU went about 5 minutes without a bucket. OU went on a 14-0 run.
On Defense, Quick guards are eating the D alive because Self doesn't have the same personnel. The loss of Bryce has been as big of a factor as any.
See yall
Wilson just gave up on that play
This gets worse every minute
Omg
Wow wilson
Didn't even touch him
Need that ref for every defensive possession with vital
Lol 2nd 3 of the yr
Jalen at the free throw line. Ugh
