Cheapest Way To Watch KU Basketball... β€’ Jan 17, 2021 07:36 PM

I won't be the best case scenario here. Have cable (Comcast) with 1 box but Roku has a deal with them so I can stream cable on our smart TVs. Cost is 240 a month but because my fiance likes her shows and my 4 yr old lives on Nick Jr and On Demand the value we get pays for itself.. Have ESPN + as well so I never miss a game.

I have seen Hulu advertising sports package but not sure what it costs. Sling and YouTube TV also have sports and seem to fill most needs.

Agree with the above post that streaming services are finding a way to charge just as much and it will only get worse as more saturate the market. There doesn't seem to be a cheap good internet provider out there and that seems to be the reason why it's getting more expensive to cut the cord

Enaruna β€’ Jan 17, 2021 01:51 PM

He has been emerging but the people playing ahead of him are trusted players.

With Thompson now a non factor for the rest of the season he can get 15 20 minutes a night now. No reason to play Grant Foster and we have no depth anyway so he's going to play at this point

Non-KU Games Thread β€’ Jan 16, 2021 11:26 PM

Well at least we aren't Clemson.

They have scored 3 points and there's 7 minutes left in the first half. HAHAH

It’s sad but I really do get nearly as much joy watching UK lose as KU win.

4-8 would have a nice ring to it

If we make more shots there is a lot less transition defense to worry about. Poor shooting is the culprit

I get some of what Self is preaching here. The defense did more earlier in the year but when teams get film and use it, its easier to gameplan how to beat KU on that end.

The last few games though this team has just given points away by fast break or bad turnovers/shots that end up leaving the defense in scramble mode.

I still think the biggest issue is the offense. Scoring consistently makes a lot of other issues go away. We've seen individuals play better defense when they are playing well on offense. Just my two cents

What are we supposed to do today??

Baylors guards are just better, way better. Believe it when I see it

Iowa St has some issues with Covid so no game

Bryce Thompson has successful Surgery on Finger β€’ Jan 15, 2021 11:23 AM

Self says he's out at least a month but doesn't seem like a set timetable.

Tough for Bryce who's clearly needed in the rotation. Hoping for a speedy recovery

Recent Rivals update. KJ Adams moved up 11 spots to #74. Clemence stayed at #35.

Jonas Aidoo, 7 footer who KU was heavily involved with before he choose Marquette rose 70 spots to #33. Rivals said its more about potential with him but they like him.

2022 Recruiting Thread β€’ Jan 14, 2021 11:31 AM

A few others to mention Shaedon Sharpe (recently offered by KU/UK) now #20 and made a 70 spot jump. Freak athlete with smooth game.

Vincent Iwuchukwu, 7 footer recently updated his recruitment and said KU is very involved. #29 on Rivals. Top 30 kid composite.

2022 Recruiting Thread β€’ Jan 14, 2021 11:29 AM

Kyle Cuffe now ranked #56 in the 2022 rankings on rivals. Jumped 22 spots. His composite will jump if ESPN ever gets around to ranking him as well.

The pieces to this team don't fit and its not a good shooting team. Every loss or close game is because the offense stinks. When everyone plays well or to expectation this team can compete and win any game. But if you have 1-2 starter struggling a game, consistently, games like Tuesday are going to happen a lot more. For every good shooting game we have we seem to have 2-3 bad ones.
There's no margin for error and that's where other issues pop up.

Self's been harping that this team doesn't get easy baskets, they don't. They rely on half court offense. He's been harping they don't run and get out in transition, they don't. We let other teams do that against us though. Oklahoma St got 30 easy points. Oklahoma had 7 I think Self said after that game.

The pieces don't fit and Self doesn't have anywhere else to go. Bryce is hurt again so there was his first guard off the bench. Mitch has his moments where he can be good but he plays limited minutes for a reason. Enaruna has ramped up his energy level and is starting to get it. Maybe he continues to rise like Braun did in conference play last year. Harris has been a bright spot in certain games but a non-factor in others. He's a freshman having freshman moments. And he's completely unplayable next to Garrett due to how bad the offense is.

The rise of McCormack's play has come at a cost. He's averaging historic usage under Self. As great as his offense was against Oklahoma St, his defense was so detrimental for periods of time that Self had to play zone and triangle and two. But he couldn't sit him because he was scoring and the only guy scoring consistently. Gift and a curse.

Hopefully Self can figure some things out with this offense and figure out how to get all 5 guys on the same page. He needs 3 guys every single night to get their average or more.

Words I've never muttered before β€’ Jan 13, 2021 11:02 PM

@drgnslayr

Played ok to first TV timeout but after the fact we couldn't guard the perimeter or stop their transition game, it was making the game hard to watch with shades of the Texas game.

Early 2nd half the game was getting out of hand. Oklahoma St started missing and KU found a way to score on 8 consecutive trips. The 21-2 run saw some stellar offense from Dave and guys started playing together. Self went triangle and two after the regular zone didn't contain them.
After getting all the way back to get up 3, the game changing 3 from Ok Lite, the last minute was just horrible execution. Guys seemed tense to make a play happen.

Words I've never muttered before β€’ Jan 13, 2021 03:46 PM

KU played good for about 8 minutes in the second half. 21-2 run was awesome. The last minute was a complete debacle.

Ukekele makes a 3 being semi guarded by Dave, career 28% shooter. Complete momentum changer.

Marcus playing hero ball was unsuccessful. I get the urgency as a senior to make a play. His pass out of bounds with 4 seconds was as Self said, not even close
