• With KU’s non-conference schedule, there are numerous quality opponents. It is harder to get guys minutes if they’re figuring out who they are and if they can play. Self knows Oubre can play. He hasn’t had much of an opportunity to play through mistakes. He just needs to go and make something good happen for himself. … Not thinking too much is possible, because he has a good enough understanding. Self would rather a guy play with reckless abandon and screw up than play slower because he’s thinking too much. You can’t play to “not screw up.”
@Lulufulu "not exactly" key phrase! No way can you call it p word! self is playing match ups, the hot hand, defensive guys, rebounding guys, hustling, guys that know where to go, etc! He's blessed w/talented guys that he can go to, when someone else is not up to par.

@JayHawkFanToo an ex KU asst coach told me it was shocking how little some of these kids have been taught, bb terms, drills and mostly anything about defense. Speaking of ex KU coaches, Manning is playing Minnesota now on espn u.
@drgnslayr one really nice thing about most of us, we don't bash our players. That's a big deal to me! Another blog was talking so bad about Mari's play, they were saying he needs to sit on the end of bench by Tyler Self, and worse. We see the bad stuff, were not stupid, but we always try to be positive.

somebody mentioned Marshall could put him on a slow kid and hide his defensive prowess! Unlike our conference, they usually have some players in mvc that are not as athletic as big 12. Not saying that to be snotty, sounds like it.

@icthawkfan316 no barbs, just wondered. I usually agree w/you! Self said he looks for 3 things in recruits, athleticism, shooting and I forgot the 3 rd one😬! Hasn't Self said that when Oubre gets what's going on he will be awesome? I know he said he wasn't worried about him figuring it out. Right now Greene (and I hate it) is his own worst enemy! The other night Svi hardly played. Beats me who will show up, but it's nice to have choices.

@Lulufulu I think the game was to fast for the refs at the end. I thought under our basket they were out of bounds on a long out of of control possession. Either that or I thought they missed some fouls against Michigan state. Thought Cliff got hammered. Either way, good game for us to play and win! I was sounding like Izzo there!💩

@hawkster88 great points! Izzo was an a-hole in post game! He said a dead man can make lay ups. Also said we self defended our own lay ups. Not very professional!
@globaljaybird how about my man, our man, Jamari, hitting big free throws? Hope he gained some confidence, Self sure is giving him some chances. Most KU posters were dying w/him in at the end.
