Remy taking way too many quick long shots...
UNC is 4-17 and we're just up 3. They can't stop us inside. Drive, make layups, get ORBs, draw fouls. Stop settling for jumpers right now....

Dave needs to establish deeper position - taking shots from too far out...
A little lose with the ball. NC cannot stop us. Take it at them and shove it down their throats. Don't settle and let them off the hook...

Good analysis @drgnslayr. Would just amplify that from the get go the team needs to attack the rim. Whether that is getting it to Dave or penetrating. I don't think they can stop us going downhill. Invite contact. Drawing early fouls on Bacot and/or Manek will change the dynamic. Especially, JWil - don't be jacking up 3s. Definitely not your strength and it makes it easier on Manek. We should also learn from Baylor - apply some pressure on their guards. Don't let them get into their offense easily or quickly. If they are going to be hoisting 3s, which is almost certainly the case, make them rushed, contested shots.

B12 had underperformed in the tournament for a long while - that has really changed in the past few years. Not just 3 straight, but 3 different teams. Should have been 4 straight....
UNC and KU would be a track meet. Game at least in the 80s...

No real defensive intensity other than from Juan...

Yes, but if we were doing the job on the defensive glass, all those misses should have lead to fast break opportunities. We just didn't do the job on the glass in the first half. Need to control the defensive boards in the second half - not let them get so many second chance points.
Ochai and CB need to help on the boards - at least put a body on somebody! 1 RB each. Remy has 4. Villanova has 9 offensive rebounds - they are just out efforting us on the glass - other than Jalen and Mitch...
As shallow as Villanova is, we need to be drawing more fouls. 3 in the half is ridiculous...
Need to deny Gillespie the ball in the 2d half and quickly double him when he gets it. The other guys don't scare me...

This is a tempo game. And that tempo may be only a slight difference.... but it still counts. We can't walk the ball up on offense. We push tempo. We build a lead and we get them out of the flow. We guard for 30 seconds of the clock. We don't leave our man... we leave our man, they burn the trey!
We take care of the ball... low TOs, and we rebound so we control possession count.
We push pace and they get tired with less depth.
This is a game that will be won with basketball IQ... both on the bench, and players.
All of the above - and, make shots - both from the field and FT line. We haven't shot the ball well in he tournament - even before that. If we can make shots, we win. Doesn't mean we can't win a game in the 50s, but that would probably come down to the final possession or two. Don't give Gillespie any breathing room...

Should do the same thing against Villanova. Bottle up Gillespie, much like Houston did. Let Samuels get his points. Without Moore, I don't think they can get enough points elsewhere. Gillespie is really the only one who is otherwise capable of going off, but he can be stopped if you focus on him.
Everybody contributed big time. Jalen sucked shooting but was big on the boards in the 2d half. Dave set the tone at the start of the half. Mitch was more than solid all game. Ochai finally showed some life. CB too. Remy was Remy. But, I think the key was Juan D on McGusty the 2d half. Great adjustment by HCBS....

We don't need to take 3s the rest of the game. Keep pounding it inside. Make them stop us, which I don't think they can. Hopefully, we will start making a few FTs...
