@drgnslayr Yeah he kind of came out of no where and we already had Frankamp on board. I think it left most of us scratching our heads. I remember that recruiting class and Coach Self talking at media day saying he knew everyone was talking about Wiggins, Frankamp, and Greene (and they should be) But that 2 guys everyone will be talking about after the season started would be Embiid and Mason. He was spot on. Maybe this Lightfoot will be the guy HCBS is raving about next summer?
Not many of us on here were over the top excited about Graham or Mason so its another wait and see kind of thing. Coach Self has done well recruiting under ranked players lately.
@Crimsonorblue22 I try to get them to slip occasionally BUT mostly they give textbook answers to questions like that. I do get some things like the excitement about their new in house court, match ups between some of the guys but nothing mind blowing lol. I am don't messaging them until next week now because I don't want to keep them from being awesome!
I asked some of the guys who is the best big guy on the team not named Perry? The answer is exactly what you might expect! They think all of the big guys are really good. I don't blame any of them for not picking ONE guy that's just doing everything better but it would be nice if one of them was just out performing the others and they spilled the beans!
Jeff Hawkins, Christian Moody, Justin Wesley, and Tarik Black all found them selves on the bench when better players were ready to step in. I know I have posted that I think this SHOULD happen but I think Coach Self will bench a more talented player with a higher ceiling because he values the time and effort Traylor has put in while at KU. Black started out with more minutes and then had to watch Embiid play a lot of minutes after Embiid got the hang of things. He sat on the bench and watched Embiid gobble up the minutes BUT Coach Self didn't have a 5 year relationship with him either. So the question in my mind is what 4 bigs get the majority of the minutes?
@Crimsonorblue22 He did play well or under control during late night. He has been doing some work with the team! I think Coach Self could beat him 1 on 1.

From what I hear all 4 of those guys play hard against each other and HCBS makes them play each other every time an opportunity arises. Those are the only ones I actually know FOR SURE about. Some of the others haven't responded to my IM's I think the Bigs are still battling and Bragg is not going out without a fight and the Seniors are all giving 100% because they all know this is their last chance to make their NBA dream come true.
I have spoke with another one of the guys this week that told me something interesting. There is a serious competition going on between Wayne and Svi ALL of the time. They always play opposite each other in practice and both work their butts off. You can find Svi in the practice facility working on taking minutes from Wayne and company during all hours of the night and with his new body he is making his presents known in practice! Go SVI!!! So who is going to play the 3 spot? HCBS puts them opposite each other during team practice too. Who benefits more during competition?
What would you like to know besides how things are going with his eligibility? I might ask him a quick question?
I really like this team!! What makes this team so exciting to me is the 5 on 5 they play against each other! I know a few of the guys that face off against each other every time they play 5 on 5 and from what I have heard there is no dominant team between the 10 guys when they square off. They do mix it up BUT there are guys that from all accounts I have heard square off against each other every time and really like to get the better of the other person. I cant wait for next month!
@Crimsonorblue22 I didn't really ask if they liked doing the dancing and skits? I did ask one of the guys that took multiple visits if late night was a better experience than a visit alone during a game and he answered late night is by far better.

@jaybate-1.0 I have not reached out to the coaching staff simply because I might red flag myself. It just so happens that once one of the guys accepted my friend request on fb that others followed. I have been as polite as can be and NEVER ask questions that I know they will not answer. Keeping it general about the dorms and late night and many many words of encouragement has put me in good with the guys I talk to.
@jaybate-1.0 I have talked with several of the guys (5 to be exact) and I do not ask questions I know will cause problems. I do not ask a million questions. I ask one maybe 2 if I follow up with a 2nd question. I do not ask but maybe once a week and I usually compliment them on something so not to seam like a question.

@Crimsonorblue22 I WISH I knew? He and KU are still gathering INFO. He is really good like an Embiid type of guy BUT Bragg is right there with him. I have heard SEVERAL guys praise Bragg and say he is better than advertised... He is said to be a 4 in a 2 or 3's body? I have talked to some guys and they are ALL high on Bragg.
@Crimsonorblue22 it honestly could be sooner but he is still working on turning his stuff in. FOR REAL he is still working on it. Imagine trying to get stuff from Africa? I don't know how long it takes or if his last school has a fax but it has to be translated and faxed. Its not that simple.
From what I hear Bragg is SO much BETTER than given credit for and could impact this team more than anyone could have ever expected. He is a guard stuck in a 6'10" body from all accounts. He is the bomb for what its worth.
@Crimsonorblue22 I wish I could speak on Diallo's behalf BUT I will not because I actually talk to him and gave him my word. Things are 50/50. I honestly think things will work out before December. That said he has some hurdles and the NCAA isn't exactly being helpful.
After talking to some folks about the new dorms it has become apparent that the new court in house has transformed the team. Someone in particular has witnessed the new court and its affect on the teams transformation. Before when someone was at the practice facility no one really knew they were there unless it was reported by a media outlet. NOW when someone is on the court bettering themselves everyone sees it and instead of playing call of duty they are out running plays. This is HUGE for our guys and their understanding on how HCBS's offence works. I am happy to report that instead of Ellis posting his call sign on twitter asking people to try to take him out (or kill him in game) he is practicing with the underclassmen teaching them how to run offence and defense under the watch of HCBS. The new rooms that these guys have will better our team and give our freshmen quality time with our seniors on how to run plays. For example when Svi is putting up countless shots and no one is there to witness it he is just putting up shots BUT now he is being forced not to put up shots BUT to run offence because everyone is out on the court bettering them selves instead of playing PlayStation. This is a good thing guys and I have it on good authority that everyone is practicing more JUST because of the new dorms! Its going to be a good year!

Just got an IM from one of the guys on the team that thinks/feels KU will sign multiple recruits. Made my day! Just sayn
I asked a few of the guys on the team and some of the guys in attendance at late night. The guys in attendance were impressed with the new dorms as are the 2015-16 team. They had a lot of time to talk and interact with the recruits this year too which helped out a lot. I honestly have no idea who but our guys really sold our program and the dorms put their visits over the top according to one source. I got a real good vibe about late night and will continue to coax info from the guys that I talk to most.

I have talked to next years recruiting class and found that PT is less of a factor these days than most people may think. Draft perception and projection is the real common factor (and winning of coarse) to these kids today. As long as they are maintaining their perceived draft projection they don't necessarily care of how many minutes they play. If they are getting 20mpg and their draft status remains the same then they would be happy and content no matter the school BUT if their draft stock drops their minutes better increase or there will be some back lash. To get a kid to commit early you have to go all in and tell the family's of these guys that you will keep your end of the bargain and stay true to your word. I have only heard one kid say that HCBS gave that promise and that was Oubre. I don't think he told Alexander the same thing BUT now that Alexander was on the front page of every news outlet as being lotto to bust the outside pressure for HCBS to go all in on these kids and their family has increased 10 fold. Change is coming sooner than you think.
Justin Wesley transferred in as a junior and played 8mpg his first season and then 3mpg the following season. I think Bam Bam should get the Justin Wesley treatment this year BUT I just don't think HCBS will do it? I think HCBS should reward Taylor's hard work but not to the detriment of the team. We all say we would play the Bragg but in reality we are not in Coach Self's shoes. I would imagine it would be really difficult to play Bragg over Traylor after taking Traylor under your wing for 4 plus years. Bragg is not expected to be an OAD so there is no pressure to play him unless KU is losing games. There is also a lot of outside pressure for HCBS to play Svi a lot this year too. That will be another point of interest on how he manages minutes for the guards. His rotation composition will begin to factor in outside pressure if he is ever going to evolve as a recruiter. He can coach but he has also learned that if you can recruit you don't have to coach (UK-Cal). I have been around the team and future recruits and talked to all of them through social media and found that there is indeed some outside influences that are pressuring HCBS to change his court side tactics to recruit top tier talent like other blue blood programs around the country. HCBS can and will evolve but how and when are still up in the air?
Diallo is another story all together. Diallo will have to get minutes simply because HCBS can not have another big drop out of the draft lotto 2 years straight. From a recruiting stand HCBS cant let that happen again any time soon or he will NEVER sign another OAD big. KU had JoJo go from an unknown to lotto and a known OAD to undrafted with Alexander. If HCBS starts trending on the downward side he is shooting himself in the recruiting foot! Diallo, Ellis, Mickelson, and Traylor will be our 4 man rotation with Lucas and Bragg getting mop up minutes.
@joeloveshawks Just basing my opinion off of past seasons and how HCBS handles his players Bam Bam will get minutes even if Bragg is a better option. HCBS will reward Traylor for the time he has put in over the past 5 years and Traylor will get the nod over Bragg. HCBS will put Bragg in the game only to pull the rug out from under him as soon as he fails an assignment on either end of the court. Its a teaching tool and only meant to better Bragg in the long run and get him some valuable pt.

Bragg also looks like the real gem of this years recruiting class! The addition of Bragg this year is going to be our saving grace next year! He does everything well and at a high level for a guy that's 6'10". I also like the kids attitude! Always smiling always up beat and that kind of attitude is contagious! I bet he gets in trouble for smiling after losing a close game this year lol!
It was good to see Svi sink a couple of 3's! Traylor hitting a couple of mid range jumpers lit my fire! Traylor hitting jumpers is probably the biggest takeaway for me simply because HCBS likes him and will play him a lot this year! The fact that he has developed a mid range game will be HUGE for us because he will get plenty of minutes this year! Some of my biggest concerns were set at ease last night because Mason, Graham, Selden, Ellis are all good but Traylor, and Svi have both put the time in the gym to contribute this year and it showed last night! Like HCBS said he has 10 good players and there isn't a bad substation when you put anyone in the game!
@Crimsonorblue22 Last year I watched the entire show and it cut off before the 20 min scrimmage! Watching all of the other sports parade across the gym and the skits and then NOTHING! I wanted to throw my pc off of a bridge!
