@Crimsonandblue12 @HighEliteMajor Didn't Grimes block a 3 point shot, tipping it to himself, then take it coast to coast? I know that means nothing, but I'm hopeful regarding the length we can roll out if we need it to guard the perimeter.
@Gorilla72 Thank you for sharing the issues as you see them with specific details. We are so bad at talking in this country, and this sort of explanation is very valuable. Why would you be done with the political section after you shared a detailed explanation of your stance in I think pretty reasonable terms? In my mind, this is the exact kind of honest detail that should bring us closer to a place of resolution and compromise. Thanks man.
No uncertainty here by ESPN:
Kansas looks like a National Champion.
think our freshman can get hudy legs under them by seasons end and add to their verts?
My impression is that a lot of the jobs that are being taken by illegal immigrants are jobs citizens don't want, at rates citizens don't want to work for. Also, that we do get about 11 billion in taxes from illegal immigrants, and they are far less likely to seek out public programs for aid because they are scared to. And while theres some accuracy to Trump's claims (that were exaggerated numbers, his MO) about the outright cost of illegal immigrants, this doesn't account for our economic dependence on the low skill, low pay work they provide. Also, their second generation is very good about paying their taxes.
Anyway, point being, I'm curious what jobs you or anyone around you have competed for against illegal immigrants? How has their presence personally impacted you? I do think there's truth to saying that "uneducated" Republicans live are "fearful" @Gorilla72. The Republican position has been to aggregate wedge issues to retain a Republican majority at least since 1994, when Newt Gingrich flipped the house Republican for the first time in 40 years. Wedge issues are often based on fear, and ignorance, and absolutism. Donald Trump is a walking talking wedge issue.
I had to cut off the Self interview early. Anything else interesting?

I'm going to sound really negative here but...
As great as Lawson looked today this was massively inferior talent. He has an old man game via below the basket with a methodical pace. He will do well in certain match ups but I foresee some serious issues when he goes up against length and speed.
It did feel that way at the beginning of the game when he was getting stuffed. Then he played off the ball and got two easy buckets. There will be times where other guys will have to step up to keep him from getting double-teamed. I think they will.
Overall team speed is not great. Maybe I'm used to last years team that was so damn fast and they knew where they were going which made them even faster. Tonight we looked slow.
I thought Dotson looked like the fastest player we've had that I can remember. You really thought last year's team could get out in transition better than this one will? I didn't think we got that much off of transition last year. And this is a bunch of new players with a very high ceiling.
As for all the depth I firmly beleive this team goes as far as Grimes and Dotson take it. Scary to be that dependent on two freshman guards.
Those two looked good for their first game. Both have great body control and solid handles.
Marcus' shot looks about the same.
Vick's decision making looks about the same.
Agree. Agree.
KJ looks really soft. The kind of soft Self hates. I'd be shocked if he sees much time.
I don't know. He did look soft. But he also played within the flow. I think he gets minutes.
Spartan blood will be spilled.
Well maybe deferred isn't the word I'd pick. But he looked lost trying to play with Dedric.
@jayballer73 Definitely. I don't think Doke knows how to play with Dedric. And I would say Dedric doesn't know how to play with Doke... but that's not as important because we NEED Dedric on the floor.
@Kcmatt7 Sweet!
@Red.Rooster Night bud!
I think they just showed a graphic of the Jayhawks box score lines. 10 guys on it, and Doke wasnt one of them. ouch.
Oh ha. I just repeated you @Kcmatt7
Really like this Emporia State coach's interview. He's smooth, optimistic, complimentary with specific details. Sharp.
Gonna be weird having a low post Wooden Winner after a Guard Winner and a Guard Runner Up.
These kids staring at the camera are cracking me up.
@Kcmatt7 lol, don't be greedy.
We sure we want Agbaji to redshirt?
@stoptheflop KJ and Garrett can play the 4. Agreed, Doke and Mccormack were not good, and Vick shouldnt have ever played the 4 in the first place, but did not look good at the 3.
Wow. Nice transition!
@KirkIsMyHinrich Not a Michael B Jordan fan?
This half has been garbage.
@BShark I'm starting to see what Vecenie was talking about. Of Doke and Silvio, objectively speaking, I'd take Silvio, but they ARE redundant.
The caravan started from a post by a former Honduran legislator on a Facebook group. Another instance of social media causing groups of people to act in unexpected ways.
Lawson's old man game is going to settle us down in times of trouble I think..
Little weave to high low...
Vick and Doke felt like ghosts this first half. Weird having the team being REALLY really good, and the upperclassmen looking like the guys struggling hardest to fit into the new identity.

@BShark Maybe Self can pair the bigs together. If you had to split the bigs into 2 primary pairs, what would be the best 2 pairs? The perimeter I think can be more fluid.
I'd play the Lawsons together a lot. Then put Mitch with Doke. But in general I'd try to get the Lawsons as many minutes as possible.
I'm good with that. Mitch hitting 3's is critical for that to work, I think.

Charlie showing why he was Illinois Mr Basketball.
Geez, Charlie. So many new players to like this year.
I really want Marcus to develop a jumpshot. No reason not to work on his form through the season. We don't need his scoring.
CHOLLIE MOOOOO
@BShark I would like to see more of the Lawsons together to see what that looks like. Right now, it feels like Dedric is demanding the ball and clogging up the lane on O. The talent is evident, and the alpha dog greediness could actually be refreshing, as long as the other big can work with it.
Steroids are a helluva drug. Yeesh Hudy. (They said she told her players they werent tough enough in the weight room, so she demo'd bench press, ripped her shoulder muscle, and kept going>
Grimes body control evident.
It almost feels like Lawson needs another big like him to play with, someone mobile that can pop out when Lawson goes inside. Do you guys think Doke and Lawson can play together?
I wish I could get the midwest ads for all my tv viewing. They're calm, no flashing images or annoying as hell songs.
@Red.Rooster Hell yeah! Over or under on a 4 loss team this year?
@wissox I think its a 7 day free trial on espn plus if that means anything.
@Red-Rooster DUDE! HEY!
I can't wait to block the sh-- out of some 3 point shooters this year.
@BShark VERY alright!
@BShark wow you're right. RussRob was a .407 career college shooter. I totally had crimson and blue goggles on I guess! Loved me some RussRob.
Wow Garrett, go get it!
@BShark was russ rob's form broken? I thought it was good. I mean he didn't shoot that much. but it was ok.
@Kcmatt7 We need to bring Drew Hanlen on staff for Doke and Marcus to fix those shooting forms.
@Kcmatt7 ha, you're like 30 seconds ahead of me.
@wissox get the espn app and pay 5 bucks a month... casting with that to my tv via chromecast. It's beautiful (i'm shocked), and the pregame coverage was excellent.
