Mmmph.. There are few things more satisfying than good ball moving leaving Frank wide open for 3.
That's alright Mitch, way to stay in front.
@BShark got a haircut and looks like Christmas helped him toward gaining the freshman 15 :)
BOOM! Feeling it JJ!
JJ for 30 tonight?
@BeddieKU23 Think FMZero was butt chewing #1.
These fundamentally sound offensive games from Lucas against below the rim defenders worry me as much as I appreciate them.
@BeddieKU23 in fairness, both passes kind of sucked. one was a weird lazy ass spin bounce pass from Svi. The other was an attempt to thread the needle up high on the baseline over everyone else. Carlton will settle in, I hope.
It all starts with pressuring the ball handler. We were trying to close on shooters, its not hard to catch and shoot a good pass.
@globaljaybird What do you mean? Fran is a very photogenic leprechaun.
I like the extra possessions and rushed shots we're creating with ball presssure. important when they're hitting shots. this is about to turn around.
Gimme some Carlton!
Or maybe its the 4 guard line up... makes us focus on the offense all the time.
Ugh. Come on DG!
@BeddieKU23 funny how we often talk about the offense getting better, but we're scoring at a decent clip always... if our D got better we'd be lethal, but we just recognize how offensively gifted our team is and so it always feels that we have more room there to reach our potential, I think.
alright. stop feeding the cats bunnies. let's annihilate them.
oh! Die by the dunk Cats!
@BShark he better throw away any purple shirts he owns.
Lets skin some kitties!
@Texas-Hawk-10 Agree 100%, and I also agree with @JayHawkFanToo in the sense that the public sentiment about the value of an undergrad degree from Duke might be higher than a degree from UK... So in that way, whether justified or not, yes your degree from Duke is likely more valuable, but you likely aren't any more valuable to your employer having gone to Duke.
It looks like Kennard was a good student in high school (4.22 weighted GPA), though I can't find his college major anywhere.
@JayHawkFanToo yeah, I belabor this because i want to keep a fine point on the distinction between the image of bball student academics at Duke and the reality. As a McD AA and as their leading scorer I doubt his degree will matter much in his future profession. I too am impressed with the kid on the court, just didn't know anything about how he was performing academically.
As we've talked about a while back, the basketball players at Duke are in reality held to no higher academic standard than most universities, nor are their b-ball players any more intelligent, IMO, though I guess that is entirely subjective.
@brooksmd honestly maybe not they much. probably doesn't matter much this coming week against Georgia Tech and BC at home. Following games @florida state and @louisville are tough, but ones that could well be losses had K been at the helm. The following week home Miami and home NC St could be losses but Cameron is such an advantage ... If they lose one of those maybe K would have made a difference, and certainly if they lose this week.
@JayHawkFanToo Do you have any evidence that Kennard picked Duke based on academics? I'd assumed it was because Duke is the long McD stack.
@Texas-Hawk-10 haha. Well stated! Thanks for the dose of reality. What you say is completely rational. But I'll hold out hope that what we saw against Duke could be their new norm and that they might trash the ACC this year.
@drgnslayr this is an aside but if you have time check out the VT game against Duke. Their guards put on a clinic, Duke had zero chance, never led and trailed by double digits most of the game. I was extremely impressed. And also a little concerned... They were way better than we were against Duke, save our hero zero. But, I have a feeling we will trash Duke if we see them again in March.
@Bwag you referring to K laying down during a timeout when he was dizzy in feb 2005? They lost 4 out of 7 during that stretch, two before the event, two after, and lost to Michigan state in the sweet 16 that year.
He was fine that time though, that was just the spirit of Lucifer leaving his body to temporarily possess the clock keeper.
@wissox it is. Not mine. Belongs to the world wide interwebs.
@Crimsonorblue22 I find myself frequently wondering if Grayson Allen traveled. Badumtish!
In all seriousness, has he been stripped of his captainship so that he might be reinstated next game? Has Coach K found his loophole? Garbage! The lot of them!
And don't believe the hype if anyone says Allen would have made a difference . We all know how well he plays against good teams.
@BShark Don't sleep on Buzz Williams! This ain't your Seth Greenberg / James Johnson Hokies. Cassell is going to be a tough place to play this year!
For fun, question for the people who follow football closely. Are there any people on the football team who could help our frontcourt?
Yeah, those numbers aren't good. The reason his departure hurt was the year immediately after, where he could have spelled Frank ball handling (maybe?), Getting points from the backcourt, and played some 2. But looking at this roster it's hard to remember circumstances where this really hurt us that year. Luckily for us, Frank is a warrior. I do remember lack of perimeter scoring in the fools gold portion of that season where maybe he could have helped?

I think with any elite program, the roster can heal from a single transfer quickly. I'd count the biggest roster limitations (and causes) Bill has had as follows:
1. Lack of defense, depth and playbook knowledge after entire starting 5 leave and Embiid gets injured, 2012-13. Also, Naadir tharpe as the primary ball handler.
2. 200o-2009 roster youth behind Sherron and Cole. So green.
In both cases, it was a championship run and the mass exodus thereafter that causes us to be really thin. I was going to put the transfer of Padgett and Niang causing Self to start Moody 2004-05 but looking at that roster, it was loaded. We had Giles and Darnell and Simien at the 4.
Anyway, history goes to the victors. And you're right, it would appear that Frankamps transfer didn't make a significant difference. His minutes went to Devonte. Glad about that!
@ralster no offense, but Coach K has sold his soul and I dont think his ethics had anything to do with this decision.
Lol I cross checked buckets IP to the contribution. Yep. :) Nice work
@dylans :100: :thumbsup:
@Crimsonorblue22 ahhhh that's what I was looking for. So sweet!
@drgnslayr your thing sounded like Eminem...
@drgnslayr ...You gotta lose to Self in the moment you own it don't call time outs let it go.. you only get two shots, you'll not dance if you blow... This opportunity comes to some other shlub next year, yo.
@jayballer54 both these teams stink.
Whoops. Wrong Dec 27th 1962 baby!
Happy Birthday, Bill Self!
@JayHawkFanToo Xavier obviously doesn't count and there is a 9 year gap in recruiting. @Kcmatt7 has a good point. That is not an insignificant gap and it does beg the question if this was a deliberate shift in focus away from international players. I would be very interested to hear the answer to that.

I would like to read a well-written article on the “art of variation” (avoiding predictability). Coaches must address this during playoffs.
Great topic! I would imagine the devil is mostly in the details as these situations usually aren't equatable to something like rock paper scissors. There are clear advantages to certain options even if anticipated, like keeping pitches down and the alternative options are higher risk. So that's what makes the details fascinating. When do you roll out the triangle and two? How do you adjust if it doesn't work? How do you manage the psychology of doing something that doesn't work, like a fake punt that blows up in your face? How do you use time outs effectively to manage psychology? I often wondered about that as I loathe Coach K but always thought he had impeccable timing with timeouts.
Baylor is 3rd and we are 4th now, after they didn't lose to a few more teams.
Here is the ESPN reasoning for it. They never fail to concoct artificial stats to support the false supremacy of Duke. Oh right. This was about Baylor.
The Bears beat Texas Southern, extending their nonconference home winning streak to 43, which is second in the country to Duke's 133. The last loss to a non-Big 12 team in Waco was Northwestern on Dec. 4, 2012
@Fightsongwriter if you're talking about any NBA talent on team, Doke is a future NBA stud. Just a year out. And Bragg potentially.
And Newman.
I forgot to check Truth about Duke's Facebook page after we beat them. Nice to see they were loving on some Frank. Can't think of a better poster child for ripping out Blue Devil hearts.
@Lulufulu np. It's amazing how K just can't seem to accept responsibility the last couple years.
"It's a learning experience," Krzyzewski told The Dan Patrick Show. "I'm going to use it as that, as a teaching moment. And a teaching moment does not stop by giving one game. Or maybe that's what it is. I don't know that right now."
Alright. Since you asked @brooksmd and it's not just me. Flanders special coming right up
