@Lulufulu hey hey hey, there are kids on here. @Kcmatt7 's innocent ears!
Merry Christmas guys! Hope you all have moments of happiness and contentment this break, and that you have a chance to connect with family and friends, and maybe get a glimpse of the eternal, and a profound sense of your precious moments as the digital flurry and the global acceleration that is the backdrop slows down and takes a rest. Merry Christmas. Happy to have you guys to talk to for another great conference season!
@jaybate-1.0 you talking about Carlton's adidas headbands? You think that he's wearing it to promote adidas?
https://www.google.com/search?q=ensure+definition ↗
Any chance I get to dig on ESPN's editorialism, however petty...
@RockChalkinTexas ha. Why wear it in a presser if it's embarrassing during a game...? Reminder that Frank is still a kid even though he's the man on the court
According to ESPN, Udoka is getting another job to pay for his insurance. Or maybe Bill Self is paying him to rehab. I'm not quite sure, based upon the following cryptic passage; I'll try to find out more details.
"We all feel bad for Udoka. He has worked so hard and has put himself in a position to have a tremendous impact on this year's squad," Self said. "This is a blow to our team, but I know that we will rally around this and Udoka will work hard to insure a full recovery."
@RockChalkinTexas ah ha! Good old Jesse. That's funny. I'm really glad that people on our board stuck behind Carlton during the dark days. Calmer head prevailed (i know it kept me optimistic). Did his successful headband negotiations usher in the big hair revolution we see now?
@jayballer54 Right on man! Merry Christmas to you too. Thanks for always fueling the recruiting discussion and the frequent heat checks on our cautious optimism. I'm not saying you're a choir boy but I appreciate your voice buddy!
@HawkInMizery nice! Congrats man! Looking forward to reading your stuff.
How did Carlton get Bill to allow the headband? How do our stats trend when games are in the balance vs when we are ahead by 15 or more (or something like that)? How do our stats look specifically against top 25 teams? How about foul disparities by point margin and against top opponents? How good is the conference this year, really? What do the new coaches in conference bring that might challenge Bill? What does Bill mean when he said we practice free throws just not the normal way (or whatever he said)? What is the best way to practice free throws? Can you prove statistically that Jackson is better than Wiggins? What is his +/-?
@RockChalkinTexas Eli had a shot at Beckham in the end zone to win the game and missed him.
Good.
@RockChalkinTexas yeah from what I did see Frank had a decent game but tried to do too much individually. Got himself banged up on some drives.
@RockChalkinTexas I'm so sorry. God that sucks. You okay? You got any family locally?
I've had my parents here debating politics and stuff and couldn't pay the game as much mind as I'd have liked. Will have to rewatch if I can find a rebroadcast.
Run it out Josh.
You know, people talking about building an NBA team around Embiid on other thread. Give me Josh Jackson to build around!
Landen keeps getting lost out on the hedge.
heard Jay Williams was saying how K made him write a letter of apology for faking as if he threw the ball at someone's face in order to make an inbounds pass... How Ks standards have changed.....
@BeddieKU23  I was thinking maybe he was just trying to do the kid and play dance but forgot to invite the Elon kid:

Unfortunately, the Duke side of my family won't be attending our Christmas festivities this year... so I won't get the entire scoop.
Not everyone can get away with a trip over the holidays.
@dylans beat me to it! I had to fact check to be sure.

@DoubleDD No doubt. He gets tossed around by the big boys but he's tenacious. Nothing is going to stop his effort. I hope he has the strength gene. His dad looks pretty barrell chested. Pound that Christmas dinner, young man!

@DoubleDD Maybe, but he hasn't really been able to fully demonstrate or develop his playmaking ability. I guess to me the question is can he go lottery next year by facilitating the offense more. This year he'd be late first round at best, imo.
@drgnslayr One thing to note, Bill has indicated that he thinks Coleby has the get better gene. I think we think of him as a known commodity upperclassman whose ceiling will be reached simply with good health. I think, like with Tarik and probably Hunter, Bill believes Coleby still has a lot to learn under Self:
“He’s got a great motor. I feel like he can play on the block. He can play facing. He can do a lot of different things. He’s raw offensively, but he’s a premiere athlete and should be a solid rebounder and defender right off the bat.”
“He’s hasn’t been playing ball forever, but there is definitely a foundation there, physically,” Self said. “Also, (there’s a) foundation from an intellect standpoint that is going to allow him to become a much better player fast. Without question, we think his best ball is well down the road.”
@drgnslayr It seems like both those guys already aren't overthinking their play, are relaxing of late. Lucas is catching entry passes with one hand and he's seeing where everyone is when he has the ball, not fumbling around on the block with blinders on. Bragg is using his mobility to his advantage and chasing down rebounds, and making his bunnies, and he's not demonstrative when things don't go his way.
If Coleby can get well by February, as Bill hopes, it'll give us the depth we need.
Do you think Mitch needs to add weight/strength right now? Can he, with the season in full swing?
@BeddieKU23 They're going to start off with a loss @ Tech.
@JayHawkFanToo look. I want K's legacy and Duke's legacy nailed to the wall presented for what it truly is. A nest of horribly ugly weasels.
He's slid by and the Duke program has slid by on nebulous half truths constantly being rewritten and polished until turds shine like gold nuggets.
And these little innocuous half truths about Duke add up. Dozens of them each year.
The passage is poorly written. One should use quotes to indicate a quote or explicitly state that they are paraphrasing what someone said. As it is written, someone who is not familiar could easily assume that Dillon did in fact showboat, or at the least that it is the opinion of the author that he did showboat.
It is a reporter's duty to present as accurate a depiction of the truth as possible.
Precise words matter.
I think this puts very positive pressure on Lucas and Bragg. Real life and life under Self has always been about taking advantage of opportunities when they present themselves. Nobody is a made man that doesn't have to abide by the rules. Nobody gets to take plays off on either end of the court. And you can bet that if any of these guys act inappropriately or are lost out there , Self will find a way to make their minutes disappear. But the leash is long, they know we need them, and with the 4 guard offense established and clicking they know they can still catch a blow and the team will be fine. I think all these guys are team first players and theyre going to get it done, get us deep in the tourney, and make Frank an NBA guard!
@BeddieKU23 except let's call it like it is... Article is false here:
"A year ago, Krzyzewski had no problem making time for a decorum lesson in the handshake line with a player who wasn't his own, when he told Oregon's Dillon Brooks his showboating was beneath him after an NCAA tournament game."
Let's be clear. Brooks didn't showboat. He played with full intensity when the game was in the balance. A tournament game! If he wasn't supposed to play hard then take out your f@#$_ing starters and wave the white flag K.
@kjayhawks lolol
Fox Mulder plays for Kentucky?
@RockChalkinTexas oh man. Sorry to hear about your husband. Please let us know how hes doing. Will be thinking about you guys and wishing for a full recovery. Pneumonia kicked my ass and a few people around me this year. Was bad. I don't know if that's how it started. Hope Kansas wins one for Doke, and for you.
@JayHawkFanToo agree. It'll be one game and Virginia Tech will beat them in Blacksburg by a couple baskets and the announcers will explain it away as not having Allen when in truth he wilts under pressure and it will probably be addition by subtraction.
Well Doke. We won't forget about you. Looking forward to wooden watch next year. Already was... Still am! That 280 lb rim run and dunk from the high post in the 4 guard lineup is lethal. Until then, can still work on conditioning and explosiveness. Could be worse, could be leg or back.
So who wants to bet that the Elon player didn't say what coach K said he said?
"That wasn't a full on trip, that was just a flashback", says K. "Everything is groovy, nothing to see here." he added.
If this one goes unpunished I'm waiting for a Duke teammate to get on all fours behind the next victim.
@Crimsonorblue22 this is garbage. Not enough by K. He needs to say we will handle this. Not explain it away as if everything is okay and this is how competitors act. Looking very ratty today. Like coach like player, dirty b.

@Crimsonorblue22 Oh my God! After having to watch his STUPID redemption story shoved down our throats every espn3 halftime.. What a piece of work!
Grayson Allen, front runner for the Wooden (LEG) Award!
@HighEliteMajor Welcome back man. Hope you're enjoying this year's "fools gold" as much as we are.
@JayHawkFanToo I didn't say how I felt about felons voting. Interesting info though.
@JayHawkFanToo I was referring to felons.
@Kcmatt7 OK, but Kansas already gets the least federal grant money per dollar of federal taxes paid: https://wallethub.com/edu/states-most-least-dependent-on-the-federal-government/2700/ ↗
The federal government should do what is right for all of its citizens. I have a hard time believing that this funding is dependent upon the existence of the electoral college. Are North Dakotas electoral votes so cherished to warrant 5 dollars of fed funding on the tax dollar?
!
↗
@JayHawkFanToo as @mayjay said, regionalism was more of an issue then. States aren't banding together. People are voting as individuals. It is absolutely true that the electoral college (something Donald Trump once called a disaster for democracy when it appeared that Obama would lose the popular and win the college) ends up weighing the vote of some citizens more heavily than others. I ask you if that is fair. I believe every citizen who has not forfeited their right to vote should have their vote for the president counted equally, whether they decide to live in California or Kansas. Whether they rent an apartment or own serious acreage. Yes.
@JayHawkFanToo why? Why should a vote in the middle of the country be worth more than a vote on the coast?
@jayballer54 wow. The garbage call you mention is on ESPN too. Awful! At least Doris Burke was calling the game, and didn't try to explain it away.
Dude is 21 years old and averaging 21 a game.
@HawkChamp I'm OK with Frank burning some extra rubber against KY to nullify Fox. Jackson Svi Devonte and Vick will want it bad enough from there.
@KUSTEVE lol @ Breitbart.
Pulling away hard now. They don't have this gear.
Like that Pat on the back from the Davidson player Devonte slammed into. Class act.
