Now it's time we say goodbye....
Can they possibly maintain this pace second half?
@BeddieKU23 man. Fox is fast!
Not one... Not two... Fiiiiiiiive Gooooldeeeennnnn Riiiiiings!
Also, an adopted son who is a freshman at KU.
@wissox I second that emotion.
@brooksmd Don't blame me, I voted for Bernie  Hillary was an awful nominee.
@JayHawkFanToo Unfortunately, I can't tell if you are joking or if your "news" sources are telling you that there are people that believe the Russians cancelled Hillary's stops in the rust belt. You just never know
This is not the same thing as reporting facts about Bragg's story. This is a report about an opinion. Reporting the guy's opinion is not reporting facts. This would be the equivalent of the news interviewing Bragg's "victim" and reporting that as the story. That's what tabloids do.
@dylans lolol cluster of data points. Classic
The problem goes further than just news source bias. As private businesses, news sources have discovered that they sell more news when they maintain balance in systems they report on, so they do so under the guise of championing neutrality.
@brooksmd :100: you're right about that. Listening to the news has always been a leap of faith, trusting that the media will present a clear enough picture that is impartial. Maybe that's just not possible.
But I do think that the "It's always a misunderstanding" is pretty much spot on. We are all part of the same society and just by participating in it we implicitly agree on most things. Our differences may be stated explicitly, but they are far less. And the media preys on our insecurities with ourselves and with each other and seeks to divide us and sell their brand of spin to get us tapped into their pipeline and pissed at some other group of Americans. It's like Will Rogers said: "I never met a man I didn't like." I'm pretty sure that spending time with most people will make them 3d individuals and there are redeeming qualities to everyone if given the chance.
It's not hard to imagine a situation where a student in fatigues with a gun might make another student uncomfortable, and a policy that requires the professor to confirm that he's an officer. It's not hard to imagine a law abiding citizen being irritated about being questioned about his wearing his police gear.
Why should we spend our imagination on what greater differences might be embodied by a moment of conflict, rather than having empathy for the differing mindsets involved? Someone might dismiss the moment then and say "well then it's not news", and I guess it depends on how you define news. Is it Walter Cronkite news? No. It is an American moment, one of the many details of our cultural fabric, that happened to find the light. A little piece of where we are. And maybe the tension is natural. It holds the picture together. But neither side is right or wrong. It's just a misunderstanding.
@JayHawkFanToo Facebook is not a legitimate news source. Are you suggesting that the officer student's opinion as stated on Facebook is in fact the news, and that by reiterating the social media posts of one person, Heat Street has acted in the capacity of a legitimate news source and "reported the news?" I get what the story sounds like. It's News Corp's MO to report things to sound like a certain thing without doing any investigative work.
Unfortunately, primetime news pundits are also bad at reporting real news.
Here are some more fun "facts" from Fox.

And of course, CNN is not much better.

WWWCD? (What would Walter Cronkite do?)
@DanR That would be News Corp ↗.
Lots of empty seats in the Erwin center tonight. Those fans that have shown up have been treated to a 44-44 tie with Long Beach State thus far. From what I've seen there is no way this team makes the tournament this year.
@drgnslayr went back and watched the last game. It is apparent that he is very hard on himself right now. Tremendous pressure. It is possible that something had to give. Not saying that he did hit his girlfriend, or that hitting your girlfriend is right. It's not inexplicable, It is indefensible.
I don't think anyone wants Carlton to be guilty. But the waiting game is hard, and I think there is a Machiavellian tendency on message boards to play out consequences before a verdict. Let's talk about the other path... If he's innocent, he still needs to get his head straight. The Bill Self toughening box can feel pretty lonely but he needs to want to be there, on the hardwood, even when in the doghouse. If he's gonna take his work home with him he needs to be at peace with it.
@globaljaybird yeah. Pencil me in for "sardonic"
@Crimsonorblue22 said:
He's not that physical on the court
This should be part of his defense.
"I can't box out, your honor. if I was pushing someone down the stairs on purpose it would probably end up me at the bottom. I may have bumped in to her but I got hit first by some other giant clumsy dude. I think Landen was with me. I think we were both reaching for the same cup perched on the bannister. Think he knocked it over and we both slipped."
I think we have gone over the tourney stats and have proven that statistically B12 has underperformed. I don't have a problem with @elpoyo reminding us of that. I do think that we have some great coaches in the conference that have the chance any year to make @elpoyo eat crow if a couple of them overachieve. Really excited about the additions of Dixon, Underwood and Beard, and previously, Prohm and Smart. I'm not sure why Dixon and Beard would go to TCU and TT, but can't imagine they would it they didn't think that they could be highly successful there. It's about time they got legit coaches in their prime that might have the passion to terraform those barren basketball landscapes.
I think Drew and Weber have proven that they can coach, despite our perpetual roasts. Lon and Huggy are solid veteran coaches that seem to have their houses in order. Hey OU got punked by Villanova, but it was the eventual champ, and they went deep.
I'm both optimistic that any year the B12 could show up big in the tourney, and happy that we have coaches that I can appreciate and enjoy and usually root for.
Lol if I could just kick these guys right in their scrotumodems
Well, that was fun. Yeah, I agree a captcha system would help. I need to see what new features they've added to the board, but I can't upgrade at present. I may just block some ip blocks from the axis of spam for the time being.
@jaybate-1.0 if I had to point to just one post to explain why I love Kansas Basketball it would be this one. You absolutely crushed it.
And thanks to the entire staff for mentoring these kids. FOE
Frank Mason take no prisoners farewell tour is already in full swing. Ripping out hearts, one team at a time!
I'd take the last 4 years of Frank over any other guard options Self could have pursued in 2012. You done good, Bill.
Having watched a lot of Shaka led VCU living in Richmond, it was apparent that Shaka's "Havoc" style had the potential for pulling off very big upsets as well as looking really bad against teams that could handle the ball well. I have not watched any Texas this year so I can't say much about the specifics but I'm very curious about them, is this a personnel problem? Is he still relying on Havoc? Is he trying to change his style? Is the half court offense and defense weak? Where is the breakdown? I probably should go back and watch some of the replays. Anyone with some insights on where they are failing specifically?
simmah down nah!
Oh well. Remember what it feels like and kick their butts next time.
Someone please quantity the effect of bad calls made when a basketball game hangs in the balance, and the frequency that Duke gets these types of calls.
Oh here it is Jay. Explaining away Duke's loss to us because they didn't play well.
Izzo already apologized to his kids for the meat grinder schedule. Now hes giving them a taste of life ain't fair.
Jay Bilas with his fake impartiality weaving the narrative like a defense lawyer trying to humanize a murderer.
Their smug privileged and oblivious student section, thinking their team is winning on even ground.
Their stupid pivoting cheerleader dances....
My hatred for Duke burns hotter than a Blue Devil.
Offensive foul on Michigan State. Turning this garbage off.
so in back to back to posessions, phantom moving screen call to wave off a 3, replayed as Bilas explains it away in as being "accidental" not "a flop" or "kid has no balance", then a garbage basket interference call that should have been an and-one. No replay of that of course. Then Duke goes on their run.
Vomit.
@JayHawkFanToo Watching. Luke Kennard with a whirling Scheyer 5 step shuffle traveling and-one.
Someone tell the refs thats two travels on the same possession aren't like algebra; they do not cancel out.
Jay Bilas "Grayson Allen doesn't look like himself in this game".... Note Bilas, as you are well aware, he hasn't "looked like himself" against any good teams this year.
For you guys who are blacked out in Kansas, here's some alternative local entertainment:

Now Michigan State needs to kick Duke's ass to complete the night's trifecta of goodness.
@brooksmd nm. box score was old. well damn Shaka!
@brooksmd holy crap. 2 min left right
Maybe the girls can stop screaming like it's the Beatles now that Tyler hit another 3.
Alright.. Vang time.... Vang Vang Vang, on the door baby! VANG VANG! On the door baby!
Hope that kid's knee is ok. No it's not ok. Damn.
I'm appreciating that they're working on 2 big O with lob entry passes, as errant as they may be. We still need that.
@DanR hm. don't think that was on purpose.
Oh man. If you do that to a man you gotta at least frame and send him the poster.
@JayHawkFanToo Frontcourt and backcourt have both looked good for stretches, yeah. Carlton playingwell with Doke.
