I love Udeh. Know he’s not ready for big minutes yet but gotta love the kid.

Offense is moving well at least
Don’t forget though that UK would be the worst defensive team in the big 12 I’m pretty sure.
@wissox to me this isn’t the game that matters. The next one is.
I hope this is just a slump and honestly it’s the best time for a slump so I’m still not panicking.
@Jayblaze only SEC team to win so far is a former big12 team who we already smoked at their place.
@kuballin10 no Texas? I wouldn’t be surprised if the winner(s) has 6 losses. That could be us for sure. Nobody is getting through this gauntlet without plenty of battle scars. That’s for sure.
WVU beats Auburn and OU up on Alabama. More proof of the depth of this league.
@Kcmatt7 That's one way to generate the energy and urgency to get this team back on track but I don't think it's the only way. And I'm fairly confident it's not what Self will do. I know that wasn't the prompt and I'm not saying you are wrong, but we will almost certainly not know if your idea would work because it just won't happen. I do think there is something to being a little more generous with bench time with the goal of keeping on ball pressure maxed out. But we won't go 10 deep.
Good thing is this next game is just a get right game. The win or loss doesn't really matter. I'm in agreement with @drgnslayr that it's more about energy and effort. UK is on a little roll and has length and talent. We could play well, with good energy, and lose, and I'd still be happy. Watch what guys do without the ball, when their man doesn't have the ball, are we resting, lazy, or locked in? That's the key to me.
Been off the chat for a while. Is the sky falling yet?
@DanR they got the one offensive rebound on that one miss from three. Think they then made a three off that miss.
@DanR doubt they’ll miss a ton of wide open lay ups though. That’s more our game.
Sucks that MJ comes in and there’s an immediate run the wrong way. Don’t think much of it is on him but hard to separate those two things.
Yikes.
Is that one or two on kj?
MJ sighting.
@BeddieKU23 AND the other team can’t miss.
@DanR they still aren’t really missing. That last shot, not sure what you do about that.
Lay up bug…

Ku doesn't have a rebound yet
Misses have to happen first.
KJ may be first team all conference. He’s been so good.
@Eric-san said in Just Beat the TCU Horned Lizards, Please:
Might hit 200 pts at this pace lol
Feels like a defense optional start for both teams.
Is Kevin now struggling defensively?! Least he’s made a few buckets.
Kevin beat twice…
Don’t see that happen to Kevin very often.
Wait. What happened on the call with Grady driving to the hoop?
Lol Gradey.
@wissox In the last 5 seasons (about 75 home games) we've played 21 ranked opponents at home. (I could be wrong on this for sure)
@wissox I hope you mean the last 75 GAMES, because we've surely played more than 30 ranked opponents at home in the last 75 YEARS! lol
@Crimsonorblue22 You could even see Dejuan look at Zach and think, “this is the ‘right’ pass but it feels wrong” and then decide just to throw it in there anyway.
My big takeaway is that our starters are very important to the success of this team. That’s basically always true but might mean this team has a thinner margin for error than others.
I really think Harris was out of sorts after his major fall. Not saying he was concussed but he sure looked shook. And when he came back he wasn't able to get the ball where it needed to go consistently like we are used to seeing. Part of that is having 3 30 minute a game guys on the bench fouled out, part of it is good pressure from KSU, and part of it has to be he just wasn't at 100%.
This team doesn't have a guy who can really create for himself. Even JWill needs a little bit of a set or motion when in the half court in order to get the ball to somewhere we can score. But neither did last year's team and that worked out ok. I would be shocked if we have 3 starters foul out of another game this season.
And even with all of the struggles this team had (definitely hoping this one goes into that section of games where you played bad category) we had every opportunity to win. Make one more 3, make 2 more free throws, get one more stop. Any of those lead to a win.
Before the season I was hoping this team would be good enough to get a decent seed in the tourney, challenge for the big 12 title and maybe make a sweet 16/elite 8 type run. All they've done so far is show me those hopes are really more like expectations now and the hope is really for the repeat (not something I saw as a possibility before the year).
Saw a report that Tang was up on a table during the court storm trying to stop yet another F KU chant. Like the guy but don't think he will be there long.
They missed!
@BeddieKU23 Gradey making fake cuts and not finishing any of them.
@jayballer67 said in K-St Game Thread:
I see the refs are going to make sure Nowell & Johnson have great games since they played like warm Dog Doo Saturday
To be kind of fair, kj fouled Johnson on that drive but before the shot so they gave him the bucket instead. 2 on kj early would have been BAD.
@BeddieKU23 Die
Great box out by kj.
@FarmerJayhawk for anyone.
God I wish Wilson could dunk.
Not the kind of foul we want for kj.
Tang shaking his head at them.
Get ready for 37 minutes of how to beat Kansas talk.
Oh no. Fran….
Here we go.
@BeddieKU23 said in Tang Press Conference about KU Game:
Hasn't been a recent problem but one I fear every game none the less.
Lately I've feared KJ getting in foul trouble or teams trying to guard him differently. We've seen Jalen, Gradey & Juan guarded a certain way but not KJ.
At some point there's only so much a team can do to stop a legit 5 man roster with potential scorers at every spot. Kevin may be the only one you can really lay off of at this point, and he still isn't shy shooting it so it could back fire real quick. And even if a team gets really good at denying individuals, that's when having the best coach in the country will turn up in drawing up sets and getting the team into an offense that creates good looks. Saw we rank #2 in the nation on the shot quality rankings, meaning we take good shots better than almost everyone (Purdue was #1).
In order to take away one player, you have to sacrifice somewhere else. That's why we just keep winning games even if they are ugly. Eventually, taking good shots over and over and over again wins out.
Anyone catch self talking more about rest this year? In his recent presser he mentioned his current strategy is to give the guys the day off after every game where in the past it’s been more likely to only have 1 day off a week.
I wonder how this will affect tonight considering he gave the guys Sunday off and really only looked at K state on Monday.
You can tell he’s new.
It’d be nice not to have to use this thread for a few games. Lol.
