No. He punished the d in a different way but Dave needs to finish.

Going to go out on a limb here but I think this team is better with Och on the floor.
Matchups are always the most important factor beyond a teamsā control but Iām not sure looking at 1s and 2s is going to be a matchup that really matters too much this year. As pointed out by others above, every team is flawed this year I'm doubting there will be a ton of chalk come bracket time.
With that in mind I donāt even think a 1 or a 2 really matters. Iād rather have a favorable location for travel of team and fans. This team has made themselves into a team capable of winning a title. They are not going to be a front runner or likely even a popular pick amongst pundits but theyāve shown they can beat good teams. Unfortunately theyāve also exposed vulnerabilities as well and are equally as capable of losing to a team they are better than.
@approxinfinity had me thinking HEM was back.

@Zabudda i would like to see joe get a couple games to play through all mistakes and show us what he can do from end to end.
Are you comfortable losing two games that could have been wins and possibly the league championship?
@FarmerJayhawk said in How Blue is Your Valley?:
@approxinfinity yes, districts are allowed to set their own transfer capacity. Which makes it even more āstay out, poors.ā Worth noting 47 states have some kind of open enrollment policy, including Kansas. This changes it from optional (districts can agree to take each otherās students) to mandatory.
Not sure what it currently looks like legislatively but certainly feels like public education is in some serious jeopardy at the moment. The pandemic only widened existing inequities and some states are making it nearly impossible for anyone with a brain to want to teach.
46 fouls and over 60 free throws in the Texas ou game. Texas playing football year round this year.
Also Kentucky down 20 to the other ut late.

Iām gonna go out on a limb and say Remy will win us a game or two we shouldnāt by providing a big spark and taking games over
This seems like such an obvious limb based on his reputation coming in but weāve seen none of that here.
Could be a situation like Conner frankamp got in the tournament when no one could score. Self put him out there and said chuck it. Thatās the only way I see him getting meaningful minutes from here on out and if thatās the case we are already in trouble.

This is a solid quote from an opposing coach.
Well Iād say that we need more scoring from the bench but the facts are we might not. If Dave and Juan can get to couple figures this team will be just fine on the offensive end as Och will most likely add another 20 plus 15 from Wilson and Braun and your looking at 70 points. Enough to win most games.
Zachās rebounds were big this game and if he gets comfortable doing that and defending a bit we know he can pop off for some buckets in limited minutes.
Still waiting on a productive offensive performance from yes but weāve seen the pieces are there.
This team can defend when they are locked in. But I think the rotation could be starting to solidify. This is a team that could get hit and win a bunch of games or lose to a good team but I donāt think theyāll lose a shocker thatās a massive upset. Maybe a slightly underseeded athletic group could knock them out first weekend but I donāt see it. I fortunately I also have trouble seeing this team winning 4 in a row vs very good teams which is what it would take to win the whole thing but it could happen.

Love this look!!
@Texas-Hawk-10 itās abundantly clear to any who watch which player has the higher floor and which has the higher ceiling. Unfortunately they are not the same guy. Makes it a real tough call game to game. I actually like playing Harris with the higher floor and getting joe minutes to see if he can change a game. If he canāt or changes it the wrong direction, go with what you know will be consistent.
@Jethro Iām not quite ready to jump on the 20 minutes a game for Zach yet. Iām not denying that he was a huge part of sealing that win for KU but he also came in with one very specific job to do and that was to not let his man shoot a three. Thatās it. That was the assignment. He did that very well and as a bonus made a bucket and had a couple really good rebounds. But ou dude is also not the most athletic big around. Heās skilled but mostly slow and stuck to the ground. That ended up being a good match up for Zach. I still see him struggling playing bigger minutes where his assignment is to do more than just one thing. I still doubt his ability to hang with an athletic big. His fit did look a bit quicker than weāve seen previously so maybe his slowness and defensive liability were a result of an injury but Iāll need more proof before I say he needs big minutes. But I will agree he did enough that he needs at least a look every game from here on out. At least see if he can hang at different game speeds etc. What other assignments can he handle? Iād love to find out.
@rockchalkjayhawk o hai does need to figure out how to not let himself get taken out of the game for 25-30 minutes of it. He had a spurt this game where he got free for some looks but the just didnāt fall. Heās still attempted a good number of shots this game and is rarely taking bad shots.
Also 1st half turnoversā¦
@rockchalkjayhawk not sure offense is the problem. We score close to 80 if we make some free throws. The second half offense was pretty solid. This team needs to figure out how to guard for 40 minutes. The help, rotations, and seemingly scouting has all been a mess for a couple of games with teams scoring at will with the players anyone could have said at the beginning of the game weāre going to go off.
Adamās with some good d there.
Whew.
Just⦠I donāt know.
Wow. Really wish we would have made any of these free throws late.

Itās usually Wilson but Zach took one there for sure.
Thatās an offensive foulā¦
Please make theseā¦
Young gun havin fun
Holy shit Zach. Didnāt know you could rebound!
Hey oooooch!
Odds on both of these going in?
Zach!!!!
Wow we suck at late game free throws.
Rain with a risky sneaky poke from behind there.
So glad Wilson figured it out.
Lucky trip on d there. Open shouts abound.

@benshawks08 Of all time? Does that include pee wee basketball?
Ok. At the collegiate level? It just boggles my mind and has for about three years!
Is Och the worst in bound passer of all time?
Refusing to call fouls on drives against groves.
I honestly like Och forcing it here even if it didnāt get points.
Just hugging Och. Lol.
@Crimsonorblue22 said in Boomer 2 Game Thread:
Back side nobody there
Harris HAS to learn to defend guards in the post.
Another block for Braun.
Wilson driving well.
Dave had great position but no one got him the ball.
Weak ass call on our best player there. Lumberjack on the other side has done more every time down the floor.

Glad Braun woke up for the second half. Asserting himself.
Braun with 10 all of the sudden.
Why help like that Dave???
Uncalled travel. Three points for ou.
