Isn't that a flagrant foul? Elbow in the face??
@Eric Wichita State Fans
they missed a travel and a foul..
Lucas is playing with FIRE
three now. but missed the foul on Perry's shot
five vs eight. Enjoy.
Yeah, that stench coming from the refs can be smelled all the way to California
@Kip_McSmithers Mary Jane liked the Big12 / Pac12 Challenge of a few years back.
@JayHawkFanToo +1 Archie Miller has done an exceptional job. We already knew he was a very good coach. He has earned my respect as one of the best in the business for exactly what you described. They did get some breaks -- playing in Dayton, etc.
@JayHawkFanToo Hah.. Fringe Motors... Something for the 1% on either end of the spectrum.
@Crimsonorblue22 Yeah, the game has been filled with poor officiating, but that call was probably the poster child.
Wow.. a chair was thrown by a coach and gets a T... That brings back memories.
Interesting stat on TruTV - if Providence wins tonight, it will be the first time every higher seed won in the round of 64 on the same day.
Yes.
Yes Yes.
It's time to make a statement that will quiet the peanut gallery (MVC).

KU, OU and WVU are all solid team that can and hopefully will do some damage. If KU makes it to the Elite 8 I would like its chances against UK, it would be like KU-OU in '88 when no one gave KU a chance.
I agree.. .And I'm also pondering if we get to the Elite 8, whether I would like KU's chances vs WVU?
WVU played great on the road despite their travel disadvantages. They are not to be trifled with. (I agree, as others noted, that road wins/losses are a good indicator of March Mortality Rate.)
I also agree that conferences with 2+ "alpha" teams tend to have a better showing. The Big12 has always had KU, and this year, we thought we had ISU and OU. In the 1998-2007 era, Texas A&M and Texas were strong along with OU and Mizzou (much as it pains me to admit it.)
2008- present, it's just KU.
I consider the Arizona loss the most shocking. I don't care how good Arizona was that year... I still think that KU team was better. Arizona had some talent and got hot.
After that, the Northern Iowa game and the Bucknell games shocked me about equally.
I don't have any delusions about this team, so I doubt that even a loss to NMST would be significantly more shocking than those. However, it might be as disappointing as any that I can remember.
Plus, I now get crap from my wife who went to Bucknell and a neighbor who went to Stanford for grad school. Guess where he went for his undergrad?
Wait for it.

Ugh. I can't un-see that.

Ellis has got to be healthy PERIOD. If not, we're done. I hate it, but ISU proved that. A healthy Ellis would've been a W.
I agree. But, every time I get negative and doomsdayish, I stop and think about who could beat ISU.. There aren't more than 12 teams as good as or better than ISU and we played them very close sans Cliff and with Ellis at 60%.
Ellis's health will determine how far we get, but we might be able to get a game or two into this tourney with Ellis. That said, I'm pretty apprehensive about Wichita State, with or without Ellis. They are probably the worst 'karma' matchup we could have other than Illinois or Missouri (neither of which made the tournament).
Sorry to sound like such a sourpuss about the seedings.
I realize every team has the same challenge: win 6 in a row. Just win.
However, the NCAA is not getting points of admiration from me.
Iowa State.
Final four of Iowa State, Oklahoma, Baylor and Wichita State.
Only half kidding.

UCLA got in based on its 40 year old reputation and big market location
And the NCAA has REPEATEDLY denied that past-performance or demographics has an influence in the seeding.
bullsh cough cough it.
NCAA: Blah blah blah Dayton. Blah blah blah UCLA
@KUSTEVE I kind of agree.
I mean, I don't wish to lose to TCU, but I would have preferred to be a #3 seed in any other region than than a 2 in the Midwest, the way they seeded it.
@JayHawkFanToo said:
So Wichita got screwed maybe?
YES, thatsis the point, both KU and WSU got screwed as they both should have had easier opponents in the second round.
Yes-- And they NCAA can point to the rule "keep the team close to their geographical home" as the reason for the placement, but really they selectively let that rule override the rule of balanced seeding. All to serve an agenda.
I guess I'm as much of a conspiracy theorist with the NCAA as @jaybate-1.0 is with the shoe companies. Hard to know which is more insidious.
@JayHawkFanToo Yeah.. And I don't know if it's a disadvantage or an advantage. I just know that it's WEIRD. It's provocative and they don't have to create those kinds of provocative situations, but they do.
SMU playing UCLA? I REST MY CASE.
Larry Brown plays against a school he used to coach? What a coincidence!
@wissoxfan83 Dayton plays a play-in game on their home court. Does it really matter who they play? The point is that they say they seed according to rules.. but the rules allow for a lot of latitude for them to apply the rules with an agenda.
@wissoxfan83 I respectfully ask you to look closely at how these seedings are placed. Dayton in Dayton? KU matching up with WSU?
Lots of rematches looming like Mich St and Virginia.
NCAA does not have a lot of credibility as an objective, unbiased entity.
NCAA is toying with us.
Thanks NCAA, May I have another?
For those that hate the google trackers, I will share a trick that has been working for me. Most browsers have an option in the file menu to open a New Private Window. Chrome calls it an "Incognito" Window.
In any case, when I go to those other sites in those private windows, there are no cookies or traceable elements of my identity and the google questions are usually not served.

He's on one leg.. can't jump. Need rebounding.
why put perry in?
@JhawkAlum exactly
Officials have gone blind for the real game. take Perry out and save him.
@BeddieKU23 Who's side are you on?
@BeddieKU23 You must have a psychic connection with the officials.
@BeddieKU23 We blew 10 points of that 17-pt cushion. The other 7 had some help.
Not bad ball because of us. The officials are orchestrating some of this.
Holy crap. these officials have completely lost their minds.
If that isn't player control foul, why have that foul?
Perry is at about 60-70%. That's far more concerning than giving up 17-2 run
They have milked that shot pretty dry. I can't believe that it matters to many fans at this point other than Duke fans.
Let's go 'hawks!
@HighEliteMajor @KUSTEVE -- thanks. I value both of your points. Of course, both confirm my worst fears... and now I'm on the cliff along with @JhawkAlum and the rest of you!
I had to think about how to answer this one..
I feel like this team could beat any team out there. At times this season, it seemed like we had everything we need to match up with the best teams and take them down. Without Alexander, that is diminished a bit, but still this team has strength at every position and just looks like it ought to be able to handle anyone. The ceiling is high and they have learned fast.
On the other hand, it also looks like this team could be beaten by anyone - especially lately. They appear to play only to their adversary's level and the victories seem so shaky and fragile.
*Has this team gotten worse in the last month, or has the defense against them gotten better? *
We are 7-4 since Feb 2. There are 1 pt, 2pt, 5pt and 7pt losses in that group. The narrowest victory is 5 points (twice). That's what we've done lately. Now that's against some good teams, but still... What do we make of that?
I want to believe this team can go far (Elite 8 or +), but here are the three things that I think are most critical in order for that to happen:
- Ellis needs to come back soon and needs to be at 100% -- physically and mentally -- when he comes back.
- The team needs to get it's 3pt mojo back. Remember when the only players we didn't want to shoot a three were Jamari and Cliff? Everyone else had a green light the size of the sun because we knew it was going to swish. It's time to be that team again and become tone deaf to the words "fools gold".
- Alexander needs to be cleared and come back as a hungry contributor as he was before the investigation.
It's a lot to ask, but I think we're headed for a disappointing ending without ALL three of these things.
