It seems very unfair to Cliff. None of us know his family dynamics. We can only speculate if he "should have known better." Or.. did he know better? Did she know better?

It feels like Kansas didn't hold up their end, but we can only speculate. I have a hard time Kansas athletics hasn't thought of this before and has a policy for preventing as much as possible. I'm not going to point a finger at anyone, only worth mentioning that the system, somewhere, is broken. Cliff shouldn't be stuck out in the cold.

Duh... I'm from Kansas, or duh I'd want to go to Kansas?

Ha... I WENT to Kansas... and they didn't want me! I have to admit, it was my own fault because I had an opportunity to tryout as a walk-on and didn't even try. I don't even remember that they called the opportunity for "walk-ons." Anyone know when that terminology came about? I don't remember it back then... in the dinosaur era.

"The moral of my story is that we should be hitting this summer hard to get some 2016 commits because we are going to need a whole lot next year."

I think your story is a pretty good crystal ball into the future, as well as it can be predicted. I'm not sure why we are unable to land more talent early.... like players who are ready to blow up their game and hit everyone's charts.

I wish recruits felt more urgency to come to Kansas. If I was a recruit, I would feel it, but then, I'm from Kansas!

@jaybate-1.0

"Persons raped and murdered and addicted to drugs by gang bangers, and organized crime, are not enriched by gang culture, or The culture of organized crime."

I couldn't agree more. Everyone has to be held accountable, especially when it comes to crime. The criminal aspect of the hood is the hardship aspect I mentioned. No one knows more about being victimized than those who live in those neighborhoods. It is part of the overall situation that actually entices more people to become criminal, like after everything they ever worked to own is gone and they are at a very raw survival moment in their lives. I'm dealing with a kid right now who lives with his grandma and when she was hospitalized everything from their unit was stolen. They didn't even have a cup to drink from. I'm busy finding as much work for this kid as I can because they have to survive, and if he can't get it by finding work, he'll have to get it in another way. Most of us have options even in our lowest moments, but not everyone is blessed with options, often for many reasons, it isn't just an issue of race.

The largest hurdle in the hood is education. Kids who take on the challenge and develop their minds will end up having an opportunity to leave the hood, or stay and fight to improve it. Good decision-making is the biggest reason why people remain down.

So when the NCAA pulled the plug on Cliff it hit home with me. Part of it was that it hurt his chances to make a living at basketball... another side of it was he just lost his free-ride to an education.

The Need For Intelligent Recruiting • Apr 10, 2015 06:17 PM

Unless a kid really knows for certain where they want to go (no matter what) then it is smart for them to declare later. Mostly because it is hard to say who will come and go on teams they are considering. Plus... there are other late players signing so they want to know who all will be coming to what school.

It has really made recruiting tough because if you don't get players to sign late the time has run out on even just respectable players. That thought put me in a panic this morning....

@nuleafjhawk

"I still think it's stupid. It's actually beyond that, buy I can't think of a proper word to describe it. " Mizzoulish " ??"

Hood culture is a culture. It derives from many things. The more you know about it, the more it exposes why things are the way they are. All cultures have an organic process of how they got to be the way they are. There is an explanation for all of it.

We are all enriched by cultures all over the world, and hood culture has exposed many hardships from the struggle... but it has also given us all many great gifts, too. Music, dance, sports, art, food, written word, perspective... we have all been enriched by catching a taste from those who have shared their world with us.

How Bad Can This Get? • Apr 10, 2015 02:24 PM

@Wigs2

I'm focused on what is directly in front of us... Int'l ball. This could be a monstrous embarrassing situation for the Kansas brand. We are representing our entire nation and to be honest, I don't see how we are going to come out of this with any dignity left.

Remember what Kentucky did to us last year? Imagine that happening several times in Korea before our plane ride home?

@nuleafjhawk

Great post, my friend! I have regular contact with probably half my former teammates from one team, and our coach. I never go a month without seeing some of these guys. I never served in the military, but I imagine it to be similar to some of the bonds those guys form. And the level of ball we played was nothing near the level played at Kansas. You nailed it... what the game SHOULD be about. Kansas basketball SHOULD be about the bonding of relationships, the connection of players, coaches and fans. It should be a reason to bring people together. And now it looks more like a clearinghouse for the NBA.

@nuleafjhawk

"Is this shoe thing really a ............THING?"

The shoe thing is beyond a real thing... I've spent some time in the hood, and I still have some "hoodies" (bros from the hood).

"Uniform" is king in the hood. Clothes... shoes... they identify you with a group, and it gives you a huge part of your identity. Kids are killing other kids for their shoes, or just to eliminate their competing status.

Guess what these kids do when they get a hold of some cash? They buy shoes. I can tell you all some insane stories, very hard to believe, but true. Here is an example. A kid from the hood sold drugs and took his profits and invested in shoes. He lived with his mom, and suddenly they were homeless. He wanted to stay with his mom to protect her, but he had to worry about his investment... his shoes. So he paid a guy "rent" to live in his van with his shoes. And he never leaves his "vault" without having another bro stay there to guard his shoes.

Is this shoe thing real? Now you get a taste of why Nike and Adidas drop "Bs" (billions of dollars) on marketing. To obtain status. This is all about status... and it is all KING in the hood!

You can always tell which NBA players come from the hood. When they cash that first check, before they buy their momma a house, or drop some dough on their entourage... they buy shoes. They've had their eye on some collectables way before making it to the league. And when they buy a house, the most important part of the house is their closet to hold their shoes... hundreds of pairs.

How Bad Can This Get? • Apr 10, 2015 01:56 PM

@nuleafjhawk

"Serious question. In your opinion, why do kids want to go to Kentucky or Duke instead of Kansas?"

I can understand why they want to go to Duke. Whether or not we can appreciate him here at Kansas, Coach K is an institution all by himself... for players wanting to be "institutionalized." Never a bad idea to go to a school full of attorneys, just in case you need one!

Kentucky is all about Calipari. Look at how bad they fell right before they bought in to the used car salesman approach. Cal knows how to push these kids buttons and now his program has the "rep" of being where the elite players go.

Right now, Kansas is just mimicking Kentucky. If we want to stand a chance of really competing with Kentucky for a lot of these players we are going to have to find something that DIFFERENTIATES us from Kentucky. I've said all along the best way, the smart way. is to develop REAL STRUCTURE to DEVELOP PLAYERS, whether they stay 1 year or up to 5. It needs to be a lot more extensive then putting them on weight lifting with Hudy. We need at least one guy who has a great rep for developing player skills. Cut one of our recruiters... maybe 2 or 3.

How Bad Can This Get? • Apr 10, 2015 12:49 PM

How bad can this get?

What if Perry turns pro?

What if we don't sign anymore 5-star recruits?

What then?

We have to sign someone for next year.

What then?

And if we have to go from 5-star recruits to 1-star recruits... aren't we going to become the biggest joke this summer representing our country?

I heard Self promoting the games. He says he'll take all our scholarship guys except Svi. How much room is left for players like TRob? If we don't land some star talent won't we be relying A LOT on star players we can bring back? What great benefit will this do for our team next year? Travel around sitting on the bench watching older KU players play? How many slots will remain open and who are we going to bring back to save us? I'd be happy to make a fake ID for Paul Pierce.

We need Frank to spend all summer in a Swiss Spa to recoup from last year and re-energize for next year.

I'm sensing this great opportunity could go sooo sooo wrong.

Kentucky needs 7 McDs AAs to replace what left, Duke needs at least 2. You mean, we are going to pry several top players away from these teams? Seriously?

Every day of silence and no announcements goes by and the nerves build. Drake and Ashley Judd are crossing America for Calipari right now in a tour bus, I don't care what the NCAA rules are... that is the reality.

Is it too late to rescind our request to be "America's Team?"

Does anyone in here realize how good some of those Int'l teams will be? And tall... and wide... and skilled... always good passers... and shooters....

We can still provide the cheerleaders. Their top notch!

Ksu • Apr 10, 2015 12:36 PM

The Mildcats have to look at the bright side... being at the bottom gives them the opportunity to take on a new coach and rebuild and perhaps win COY after he lifts their program back up to 4th place in the league. Great opportunity!

Kelly Oubre: A Gambler? • Apr 10, 2015 04:11 AM

@JayHawkFanToo

"While Kelly's game might not quite be NBA ready...yet, his build, athleticism and skill set are definitely NBA capable."

That is true... but so is the rest of the guys in D-league.

In today's market, it is flooded with athletic, tall guys with long reaches. That seems to be more of the bare minimum now, not something that makes a guy stick out.

I don't want to be negative about Kelly's chances, just want to be realistic. I hope he makes it. Even though he was here just one year I really took a liking to him and hope he keeps his word to come back to Lawrence and always be a Jayhawk. There is something special about that kid, and hopefully he will get the right opportunity to make it at the next level!

Yeehaw! I loved every minute of it! I had the game on DVR and watched it 3 times and loved every second of it!

@BeddieKU23

I think you are right. Perry is a smart young man. He knows what he is up against and he'll come back and show more intensity on a consistent basis, not only because it will help his draft stock but also because he is a senior and he knows what the role is of a senior... to lead the herd.

If he stays healthy I think we are in for a wild ride this coming year with Perry. It will be the Perry we always expected... just like what we experienced out of Tyshawn Taylor his senior year. That guy really kicked some butt!

The Need For Intelligent Recruiting • Apr 10, 2015 03:59 AM

@BeddieKU23

We could use Diallo and Thorne.

I guess what I'm getting at is why is it midnight and our carriage turned to a pumpkin? I look around the country and see many D1 schools, ranked far far below Kansas, and they have a decent big man. I'm not still expecting the next JoJo to suddenly appear in the night.

Waiting on a kid like Zim sounds like fouls gold. He reminds me of Tarc at Arizona. We waited on that guy, too.

Is our bar just set too high, and then at the end, when the music stops we grab the first chair available?

Maybe we keep waiting around too long for a frog to turn into a magic prince?

@nuleafjhawk

I think Niang is used too much in the year... counted on too many times. His legs usually look like rubber at some point in February. He is very talented.. but every player has their limits and can be used up. The Mayor would be smart to try to manage his minutes and assignments better next year if he wants to make any kind of March run.

@JayHawkFanToo

"UK is not going to the NIT next year,"

Probably not... but I couldn't resist the jab!

And... you never know. They weren't supposed to go to the NIT in 2013 either.

ISU #4? Have they nailed some big recruits and not told us? Won't Niang be a senior? I think he is a solid player, but he doesn't have the talent to lead them to a FF. #4 would indicate they are FF material. They always have good offense, and they look good early on, but they kind of seem to run out their legs by the end of the season. Seems they need more depth to keep up the motion.

Kind of hard to rank any B12 team over Kansas until one of these teams prove they can win our league.

@BeddieKU23

I think there are plenty of players out there that never found that last gear... the 110% gear that can separate them from the herd at crunch time. I think we need to be recruiting more of these kids. They probably need to bring their own chip with them to Lawrence because we haven't been good at developing a team chip. I'd love to have another guy like Kevin Young.... this time let's get one for 4 years!

240 lbs of Recruiting Space Opened.... • Apr 09, 2015 09:10 PM

@BeddieKU23

I hope Self is doing that... and meaning it. I'm not sure how great Perry can guard at the 3, but there is only one way to find out. He has been known to be an average defender anyways. I think we have to look at the net gain. Perry at the 3 and bringing in star talent in the post sounds better than keeping Perry at the 4 and not adding more depth in the post.

@DinarHawk

Perry has improved every year he has been here. It would be magnified if he had continue to show more aggression. The latter part of this season he started doing that and we could see several different twists Perry has put in his offense. His defense has improved, too.. just not to the level we like to see in the post. Perry works hard on his game, and when he focuses on adding tools, he adds them.

This just in...

Perry Ellis has traded in his high tops for a pair of skates. He'll be jumping over to the Islanders next season as a right wing.

Doubtful he will ever be called a "p" by my wife again!

@JayhawkRock78

And your perspective is quite interesting on NBA, too. Sounds more like going to an entertainment show in Vegas.

I've heard from friends who get opportunities to use a NFL skybox and they mostly rave about the food.

@BeddieKU23

I've been wondering that.

Plus... if Perry is to stay at Kansas next year and do the right thing (play minutes at the 3) then he'll really be pushed to intensify his game further. It is what he needs to do. That means more hard drives to the hole and finishes. I think he would like to draw at least one decent pay day before he gets hurt.

@JayHawkFanToo

"He was traded there because he plays essentially the same position as LeBron and what the Cavaliers really needed was a big time "big' and Love was the best available...does not look like it is working well for them by the way; Love's numbers are way down, the chemistry is not there and there have been PDDs, Public Displays of Disaffection, such as Love stating in an interview that Curry and not teammate LeBron should be the MVP and Lebron has publicly called on Love to "be' a part of the team; obviously the honeymoon is over and it would not surprise me at all to see Love move to a different team after the season is over...of course a Championship could change things."

I'm usually a pragmatist... but on events like this I do believe in karma. The Cavs would have been bad bad juju for a young Andrew Wiggins. I'm so glad that trade happened. Glad young Wigs doesn't have to listen to LeBron boss him around and belittle him. Wigs positive energy paid off. He was freed to go become his own man. Bravo that!

I think shoecos have plenty of influence, especially in college and lower ball. Not sure on the pro level. They sure like to toss around a lot of cash.

@JayHawkFanToo

Good post. I always tell people to go to a NBA game and experience it for yourself. If you go to games for the crowd enthusiasm, you may be in the wrong sport... or at least, pick your venue carefully.

Wow... if you can get close to the court you will have quite the experience watching insanely talented athletes. Even if the game turns out to be a dud, you will see a playing level far far above what you could ever see in college. I always try to catch some live NBA every year. Often I will target specific players I want to see play more than just the teams. I've experienced many of the greats... and many I missed. Sometimes it feels like the same desire I have to see some of the old rock bands I never caught before. Some real "bucket list" stuff.

I always advise everyone to go try to catch a game with Ray Allen. He is definitely one of my all-time favorites and to experience his jump shot near the floor is as good as it gets... ever!

But my overall preference is college ball. There actually is no comparison between the two. Both offer different things.

Kentucky loses 7 possibly 8 • Apr 09, 2015 07:08 PM

There's my Marcus Lee... projected in the second round. I wonder how he will remember his Kentucky Wildcat experience? He could have gone to Kansas, been starting and building needed bulk. Could easily have been a lottery pick this year or definitely next year. I guess he feels like gambling bigger on his future now.

Gosh... look how many guys are listed in the 25 or later crowd! 4 guys that might soon be making the big bucks of $25,000 for a 50 game season. What a great payoff for those guys in going to Kentucky. Where is the Slick John recruiting speech promises now? Guess those guys didn't work hard enough...

@5541-james

I'm college... but I'll usually come around the NBA by late May, when the playoffs heat up.

Pros have way way too many games. So many that most games have little meaning. The screaming fans are into college ball. I'm a screaming fan!

Pro ball used to be a lot more exciting. I miss the Bird/Magic era and several other periods.

"But then you're looking at possibly 1 or 2 down years, loss of the pseudo Big 12 Championship streak, and then watch the naysayers start calling for the firing of HCBS. I agree with what you're saying but at the same time we have the "we are KU and we demand championships" crowd who would tar and feather HCBS. Some reside on this board."

True... but if we were recruiting right then these guys would be our backups, learning from the guys ahead of them. In the old days players started on JV before advancing to Varsity.

I am not going against recruiting OADs. I might be going against recruiting STRICTLY OADs because we need some guys that will stay longer and develop.

There are going to be naysayers all the time. On some things I am in that group. We shouldn't make this personal and dramatic. We all want results, so does all other D1 teams. I believe a big part of this site is for people to come on and give their ideas that might put us on the right track. I don't want to fire Self. I have some questions and would like to see them answered. I'd like to have a feel for the direction we are headed.

It does feel like we are a team in transition, but what are we going to become? What will be our new identity?

Aren't we in the hunt for another 2 now? Kind of freaks me out.

The Need For Intelligent Recruiting • Apr 09, 2015 03:17 PM

@brooksmd

There is plenty of awesome talent out there that the squid isn't in on. He didn't go hard after a guy like Buddy Hield, Neither did we.

Perhaps the problem is Self started recruiting in Calipari's shadow. Cal just recruits off the charts. He doesn't go after guys that have unknown potential. Seems we used to do that more often, but now we mostly focus on the guys that get all the attention.

I think we are sckrewed as long as we recruit in Cal's shadows. Of course there are players both schools will go for, but we should be going hard on guys that are undervalued. These guys usually turn out to be some of the better players because they have a chip on their shoulders. TRob is a good example of that and he helped take us to the championship game with a team that had ZERO McDs AAs!

Cliff to Draft, But Whither Snacks? • Apr 09, 2015 03:09 PM

I understand why people are piling on Snacks... but the focus should be broader, on all our assistant coaches. Snacks did what he initially promised to do; successfully recruit Cliff. Snacks recruiting capacity is probably limited to the Chicago area. And he doesn't have the recruiting experience our other assistants have. So we should assess Snacks' value to our program but along side the others. All of them should be held accountable.

@brooksmd

Here you go:

Mark Cuban: NCAA referees ‘couldn’t manage a White Castle’ ↗

I'm not even sure NCAA refs could flip burgers at a White Castle!

@joeloveshawks

"He may actually go undrafted as he is a classic "tweaner"."

Right... but if Perry and Self play smart next year, he has the ability to establish himself as a viable 3 in the league.

Typical 3s play with great physicality. Perry doesn't have a good reputation for physicality... yet. But we saw what he could do at times this year, when he was put under the gun. Perry has the ability to play to a certain physicality. He'll never be a bruiser... but he is very capable to play gifted physical ball. He just needs another year of pushing his aggressiveness to another level, and finishing more of those aggressive moves. He should be making a strategy with Self to play at the 3, where he belongs.

I say that, but if we don't recruit more bigs, Self will be "Self-ish" and will use Perry all year at the 4 again. If that be the case, Perry could enter the draft now if he thinks this will happen. Perry may be waiting to see who Kansas recruits.

The Need For Intelligent Recruiting • Apr 09, 2015 02:43 PM

The season is over. In recent years many top high school recruits have moved their decisions into this time of year. To date, Kansas has only one new player recruited for next year while still having 3 scholarship available (and possibly more soon).

Many Kansas fans feel unsatisfied with our team's performance this last year, and also with several other recent years.

We all know how important it is to recruit the right players in. Talent is important, basketball intelligence, important. And recruiting balance; filling quality depth at every position. Players should be fit together with the idea that they could develop good chemistry.

I'm looking back a year ago. One year ago we were coming up to the NBA draft and all the talk was about 2 Kansas OADs bound for glory in the draft. Andrew and JoJo accomplished their glory by becoming the 1st and 3rd picks.

Most basketball fans would think that Kansas could then use such publicity in a popular fashion to help "keep the momentum going" and land another stellar recruiting class. We did land two blue chip prospects last year. One panned out well, the other not so well. Meanwhile, there remained a big hole in the interior, an area always given the brightest light in Jayhawkland because of our focus on hi/lo offense, and M2M defense using a superior big man to "make up the difference" when guarding assignments are blown. Our defense will always highlight the skills of a good shot blocker. There is a reason why Jeff Withey earned so many blocked shots as a Jayhawk. A big part of it was his skilled timing, but also he was aided by the plethora of opportunities he had to block shots.

It was recently exposed that Kansas spends more money in recruiting than any other D1 school in the nation. Are we getting our money's worth? We left a glaring hole in the post last year and no other school in the nation puts such an emphasis on the 5 position than Kansas. How can that be?

I am saying that now because it appears we could be in that same position again this year. Many will argue that there just aren't great 5s available out there. But I'm wondering why we should be a team that has to "fight for the scraps" in the post when supposedly our entire strategy plays through our big man. We've definitely put several bigs in the league, many who came to Kansas and were not 5-star recruits.

I look at last year and I see recruiting desperation at Kansas. We didn't even fill all our scholarships. That should say something. And we picked up a late signing at the 2... a position we ended up crowding 6 capable players in one slot! Yes... 6 players! Is it any wonder that a diehard Jayhawk like Conner left for bluer skies? HALF of our scholarship players were capable 2s! HALF! Wayne, Conner, Frank, Devonte, Brannen, and Svi! Okay... we have Frank and Devonte sharing the point, too, but Frank is a converted PG (from the 2) leaving Devonte as perhaps our only true PG. On top of all this, it is clear that Wayne receives special treatment for his PT. He has started every game as a Jayhawk. What amazes me is the contradiction stated in past years from Self. When we had problems with EJ in his senior year Self mentioned that much of the problem was he had no one else to play and compete at that position, so he couldn't just pull EJ. Last year, he had 6 guys that fit in the 2, but the majority of minutes were given to a guy that clearly underperformed.

If it makes you feel better, remove Frank from the equation since he was our full-time PG last year... then that leaves 5 guys we invested into at the 2 and we didn't even reach a decent level of output at that position! That fact is screaming off the page! First... we totally botched our recruiting to have that kind of imbalance at one position. Because of it, we were bound to have holes in other places. Second... even with all that talent funneled into one position, we end up underachieving at that position! And the result was a mid-season transfer.

All of this points to desperation in recruiting. All of this points to a lack of purpose in recruiting.... a lack of structure... a lack of performance... a lack of execution. Why do fans point at the players for a season that fell below the bar? Wasn't this a gigantic coaching failure? Wasn't a big part of this recruiting failure? And by the blue blood program that spends more money on recruiting than any other program in the country?

Why do we always have to count on last-second recruits coming in and saving us? Why do we only have one recruit signed so far? Why do we sit now nervously on the bubble, waiting to see if we can fill gigantic holes in our post? OUR POST! "BIG MAN U CAN'T LAND POST PLAYERS?!"

Maybe this problem is about to go away for next year..... after all, we get to play an extra season and represent our country soon. Surely that is a big enough carrot to entice a big man to select Kansas. Or is it?

Could the problem be our use of the hi/lo?

240 lbs of Recruiting Space Opened.... • Apr 09, 2015 01:51 PM

@dylans

I agree. Even though we often looked bad because we didn't play like a team. Truth be we had very little offensive power without Wigs. We might have been able to develop a perimeter game but it would have been with all freshmen and how big of a risk would that have been?

@DoubleDD

Interesting perspective. And we should be landing a couple more OAD-style players because of our extra season and visibility this year. If we don't, what the heck are all these recruiters doing on our bench? However... it points to us landing USA-born players.

@BeddieKU23

I think it would be nuts for Perry to leave now. He is sitting in the drivers seat for next year, never playing such good, aggressive basketball, and will get a lot more exposure with our extra season. He is a guy that should realize he can throw his name in the hat now and get a guaranteed contract. But what about his second contract? He needs to be playing at the 3 this coming year and work on his perimeter shooting, ball handling, and finishes near the rim. He also needs to tighten up his defense. His defense has often been a liability. Since he is a player who sits on the NBA fence, he should strive to reduce all the weaker areas of his game.

Self: "We've got to call fouls." • Apr 09, 2015 01:34 PM

@Blown

"how feasible is this solution: 6 refs per Game. 3 on each half. More eyes, less chance for group corruption due to whistle blowing."

Not feasible for several reasons including the extra time consumed while 6 officials argue it out.

I'm thinking the real breakthrough in officiating will come from the technology world. Install many cameras at different angles and build software to have games called electronically. It is the only way to avoid the bias. On the big games, machines can go through extra verification processes to avoid possible corruption.

We already count on electronics and technology now. We are here today having this conversation because of the video replay that indicates the game was not called fairly on several calls.

Imagine K at half screaming at a computer? That would be as "effective" as all of us screaming at our televisions. No more unfair bias because he is a basketball God! Just mention this idea to him and watch him squirm and spit out a defensive lawyer statement.

If we can put a contraption on Mars, we can build a system that removes bad officiating from the game. It will come and be in a constant state of improvement and every year we have the ability to "tweak" the rules to tolerances allowed. This is the only way to truly study "cause and effect" on the game pertaining to tweaks because there will be consistency throughout the game.

I'm imaging a piece of very sensitive IR (infrared) equipment that will be able to (finally) accurately assess human contact. The calls won't be generated off of video input, but infrared input... the heat off of bodies. A much clearer representation of where body parts exist in a spatial world.

Meanwhile... the game will always be corrupt because man is corruptible.

@sfbahawk

" Most of your previous posts along these lines has a disclaimer that you are not alleging illegal conspiracies. However, by its definition corruption is "dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power, typically involving bribery"."

I don't think any of us are pointing at K and saying he is bribing officials. There are many definitions of corruption, and I believe what we are talking about fits this description best: perversion of integrity.

When K works a ref like he did at halftime he knows (from history) that he'll be able to shift refs to a different state of mind for the second half. And if you look at the officiating it totally flipped the second half. Look at Wisconsin's second half fouls. They never experienced so many calls before, all season, while being pounded physically. I don't think K in his consciousness ever wants to "cheat the game." That's where the perversion is illustrated. He is so fixed on competing he delves into a state of perversion to gain an advantage. That is an unnatural act because his actions conflict with his conscious state of mind.

The bigger problem is that us fans have been conditioned into such a high level of competitiveness on our sports that we are corrupted, too. Like I mentioned earlier, mostly the pro-Wisconsin fans are screaming about the bad officiating now. The others are using a tactic of pushing those speaking out aside calling them "sore losers." In a healthy society we would all be pushing for fairness. Why play a game that is corrupt? It is merely a facade of what a game could be. We should ALL be fighting for fairness because it is OUR game!

If the calls had been unfairly leveled on Duke and Wisconsin won (partially) because of those calls us same fans should still be in here fighting the fight... this time defending K, because actually we are fighting for the integrity of the game itself.

I'm afraid until us fans get our poop together, the game doesn't stand a chance to become fair, after all, it is merely a reflection of our society. What's fair about that? I guess you feel society is pretty fair if you are a billionaire and paying less taxes than your secretary.

@KUSTEVE

"Beyond that, anybody know any All-American Juco centers laying around?"

Might we take a look down in Wichita and Sunshine Christian Academy? Seems like they pump out several blue chippers that are off most radar screens...

Of course we are familiar with Buddy Hield... but I know last year they had a couple of guys 6'10" or taller, one I think signed with Arizona. One of their bigs a year or two ago went to Miami and is a stud from Africa. They still may have a Croatian or Serbian big left.

@BeddieKU23

"Spring recruiting is never a dull moment now. Especially when the entire KU team thinks they are NBA players"

I second that! Tyler Self moved up to the second round in one draft prediction!

"I don't know any players that eat nails for breakfast but if they did you would have to figure it would be bad for their health??? I heard Jordan eats Wheaties and I figure if it works for him I would rather have a guy that eats 10 boxes of them in the morning!"

You ever seen what is in Wheaties? Definitely not enough IRON! :-)

@Crimsonorblue22

That's no problem if he was a Duke coach and it is some NCAA refs reviewing the tape. "See what? See what? We didn't have that angle available to us!"

@VailHawk

Heck yes! Maybe he can be the next Jack Hartman! I doubt if he can match the class of Jack, but we will settle for the competitive spirit!

"To be consistently relevant, they will have to have a Bill Snyder type basketball dude just fall into their laps. It could happen, but the odds are against them."

Maybe a Wildcat alum... hmmm... I know... LON KRUGER! Err... (cough)... almost forgot.. that bridge has already been crossed:

@JayHawkFanToo

In this case I think you've done a pretty good job of speaking for most of us.

Every day goes by and I love Bo Ryan more.

"Calling Gregg Marshall... calling Gregg Marshall..."

I know he said he is returning to Wichita, but make him a "ridiculous offer" and watch him scatter!
