@JayhawkRock78

Lots of hard workers in western Kansas, just not a lot of people.

Hard to believe that a Jayhawk who played both pro basketball and was an all-pro football player can be overlooked, but with a history like KU's it happens. Many other schools would have a statue of him somewhere.

@globaljaybird It's getting difficult to watch these games. The ticket price is through the roof and its a 6.5 hour drive each way. No TWC in SW kansas, ESPN3 was blacked out for late night. Maybe justin.tv will have a feed?

If my primary purpose here at Indiana is to go out and win ballgames, I can probably do that as well as anybody can. I would just cheat, get some money from alot of people around Indianapolis who want to run the operation that way, and just go out and get the best basketball players I can. Then we'd beat everybody.

Bobby Knight

The opposite of this philosophy flourishes at certain schools.

@HEM You got it I think Connor is a fantastic athlete who will impact this program. When is the question. I wonder if Self was talking up Mason (ranked 70ish) to stop any potential transfer talk before it started or if he's the real deal? Frankamp is a top 30 player and has performed well on the international stage. Does Frankamp have handles though?

I can't wait for tonight. And I can't believe as a Kansas resident that I can't watch the game on tv. I've watched every game with few exceptions for 2 decades so what the heck!?!

On the internet I go searching for a feed.

@JayhawkRock78 Otto Schnellbacher would have a good case for title of best multi sport instate athlete also.

I'd like to see Conor play before I decide he needs to take a redshirt because he is unathletic (white), can't play defense (shooters can't play D), or is too short (same height as Tharpe).

Frankamp was rated above of Greene coming out of high school. Frankamp lead team USA under 17 team in scoring en route to a gold medal.

All I'm saying is let's see how this plays out on the court. Bill is in a very enviable position right now!

Cliff Alexander Announcement • Oct 28, 2013 03:04 PM

There are a ton of Chi-town kids matriculating at the University of Kansas. It's about the same money for out of state at KU as in state in Illinios.

You'd feel right a home in Lawrence Cliff!

If Bill's willing to alter his game plan before Wiggins even arrives, how many lobs do you expect to see this season?

"He can make plays you can’t coach, then he can make plays you wonder if he’s ever been coached. But that’s him. I’m glad we got him.”

“It’s the worst team Kansas has ever put on the floor since Dr. Naismith was here. I think he had some bad teams when he lost to Topeka YMCA in his first couple years.”

Bill

“I’m not going anywhere. I’m a Jayhawk for life.”

Anrio Adams

“I don’t remember anything he said, but it was a very memorable speech.”

Julian Wright

"I asked him what made him change his mind about Illinois and Arizona. He said the best way to explain it is that you have three hot dogs, but you want a hamburger. He was confused choosing the best of those three hot dogs. So he said when his hamburger came and told him what happened, he went for his hamburger."

Freddie Barnes, H-F senior guard and one of Wright's closest friends.

[Thanks for] stuff from you guys! • Oct 27, 2013 02:27 PM

@approxinfinity Do you know if I can bring a camera to Allen Fieldhouse for games? I've always been under the impression that you couldn't. If I could I'd try to take some pictures at any game I have the opportunity to attend.

Live Coverage • Oct 27, 2013 01:51 PM

Anyone know of any online sites to watch the game on besides espn3?

Who are you? • Oct 25, 2013 02:17 PM

I noticed that Mike Rotchhurtz has an account. He really should get that checked out. How long before another alias is yanked? I haven't and won't take the time to create a Facebook account, so no posting on KUSports since the change.

The comment section at KUSports is really a joke with just a handful of people commenting with very little to add to the discussion. No offense intended Blown and Wissoxfan, but your few comments don't balance out the nothingness that that site has become. It's a tragedy that such a fantastic time waster has come to an end.

Thanks to aprox for setting this up! • Oct 23, 2013 01:42 PM

It's great to see so many familiar faces here. I hated to see the community fractured like that. It felt like HS graduation; you knew a few people would stay in touch, but the rest are in the wind.

It's also encouraging to see how fast this community is coming back together. The number of users has tripled in the few days since I have joined and will hopefully continue to grow.

I'm shocked that Jaybate and others have yet to show up. Hopefully people with Facebook will continue to leave links here until everyone is back home. And hopefully it is soon, because Jaybates first pent up post is sure to be a doosey.

I'm proud to be a member of this community of outstanding Jayhawk fans!

Part of Oubre decision to attend KU was based on "other" schools making unready players go pro after one year. Oubre's dad said he wants his son to develop before jumping to the league. At this point Oubre looks like a two year player.

It would be hard to turn down a player ranked between 2-5. A player that has been compared to Chris Paul. And I think KU is at its best when two capable ball handlers are in the game Mario/RusRob; Mario/Collins; Tyshawn/EJ; Rex Walters/ Adonis Jordan;

Tyus Jones/Nadiir Tharpe?

Agreed, KU needs more top ten guys with an eye on development instead of the league.

Jayhawks reluctant to run • Oct 20, 2013 03:39 PM

Next years recruiting class is a delicate balancing act. Do you over recruit and cause a potential transfer? Or does the current depth run off recruits who want immediate playing time?
What if Selden and Embiid both return for their sophomore years? They would no doubt be better than any freshman, but where do the scholarships and playing time come from?
What if Selden, Wiggins, and Embiid go pro Greene tranfers and Oubre is the only incoming freshman? 2015 Tharpe, White, Oubre, Mickelson, and Traylor; 5-8 Lucas, Frankamp, and ? Now add Okafor and Jones (and hopefully no transfers or one of Embiid or Selden returning).

A swing and a miss on the next class leaves Bill with a lot more coaching to do to make it 11 in a row.
