@Iowajayhawk2005 I don't think I'll call your children dumb. I don't make my schooling decisions based upon sports. I will make no assumptions about your income. It's a 6 1/2 hour drive each way for me so I'm not going to more games and Allen Fieldhouse has been sold out for years. I don't think there are more basketball tickets to sell do you? Do they still let you into Hilton Melvin?
Well stated slayr, however I disagree about the penalties being to light to deter scools from bailing on the Big12. It doesn't matter how big the contract is given the grant of rights for the next several years, in the last couple years it's not such a big deal. If you get a shiny new huge contract that you have to give all the money back except teir 3 rights you'd think twice too.
@JayDogger Lucas's Japanese is leaving him, but would probably come back quickly. - LJW article plus my speculation.
You are correct about the transfer rule as it currently reads, but some (Bill included) would like to change the rule.
I'm for allowing a student who has taken care of their end of the bargain to be able to make their own decisions. Currently a university can cut ties with a student; a coach can bail on a contract with no repercussions; a student must give up 1-2 years of eligibility unless there is a hardship. With a hardship case the student may be denied the instant eligibility even with the coaches blessing (McKay).
If you haven't seen this you really should check it out. Funny stuff. Gotta love our fans!!!
I don't need to have the announcers tell me how to watch a game. I can handle that myself. Mute Dick. If you like Gurley turn on the radio, but I want to SEE the game.
If KU truely is increasing national exposure it's not in basketball. Going to the Orange bowl in football was good national exposure that did no good. All that happened was the same in recruiting and a coach fired shortly later. How does showcasing one of the worst teams in the big 12 help? And does anyone watch any of the non-major sports? Swimming, tennis, track, golf, soccer? The only teams/sports I watch are (used to be every) KU basketball game and (still every) chiefs game and occasionally a KU football game. I guess what I'm saying is there are more loyal fans that will be upset over missing games than loyal fans gained.
KU is not going back to the Missouri Valley Conference and if they did the MVC would become relevant again. If conference realignment is your justification for this, then a much better contract that didn't involve blocking out Kansas homes could've been brokered given the current stability offered by the grant of rights. Zenger had several years to hash out a sweerheart of a deal before any threat of conference realignment and still have a few years to establish your "national" brand (since KU is so unknown nationally).
I do have a radio and I preferred to listen to the radio with the tv muted when it was Max, but Gurley makes me want to stick pencils in my ears. Also how many times can you hear about Wiggins quick first step without seeing it, or appreciate how tall and nimble Embiid is, or how smooth Greene's shot is, or watch Mason hit another gear as he slices through the trees in the lane? How does radio duplicate this? It can't.
“I would never do anything to alienate anyone in our fan base," Zenger said while alienating the fan base by blacking out games in KANSAS. In favor of being able to watch the game in Kansas you can now watch the game in Hawaii (enjoy Alohahawk). DirectTV customers are left in the dark too. How many homes and bars have directTV versus Time Warner cable?
I hope this does increase income an exposure to the University of Kansas, but I'm worried that the alienated fans are mostly in-state and much more likely to donate money, go to games, and send their children to school at ol' KU than the people Zenger is trying to bring into the fold.
@approxinfinity it would be great if the new posts are still showing at the very bottom, however if they are a reply to a specific post above, that said post could be in a quote box in that message.
That way you don't have to scroll through to see if there were new responses.@farsidehawk if you hit the quote button on the left side ofthe reply button it does this quoting of the original. Is this meeting the need you're indicating?
Interesting feature that I hadn't noticed yet. Thanks for pointing out the workings of this evolving site to keep us in the loop aprox!
(Had to try it out.)
The sheet was on the North wall until 1997-98. Then replaced by the more generic banner.
Best of luck and may your surgery go well.
It sure does thanks! I posted pre-update.
@approxinfinity if the text boxes stay white the background could probably be altered without making the page too dark. Just my two cents.
I love me some Jeff Graves!
For the non twitter people (like me) JMamba5 is JaQuan Lyle.
@HEM Since Mickelson can't play this year, are you sure he would loose a year of elgibility if he transferred? I'm trying to think back to Withey, did he ever play for Arizona or just practice? If he just practiced than he lost one semesters elgibility to practice (practice man!).
But would Mickelson have to sit out next year if he transferred, having just completed a red shirt year?
Would it be possible to Change one of the seldom used headers on the main page to something different say a new topics thread? A place where the most recent topics go. Newest 10 topics or 2-3 day old limit.
Thanks
@hayshawk I think Jones would've created problems with coming up with enough minutes for all those guards, so no real loss there. Okafor and Alexander may be a wash at years end, but Okafor is the safer bet to be next years #2 (behind Embiid).
@drgnslayr Gotta love the hype machine. Kentucky's going to be undefeated with the best recruiting class ever. Duke 2015 is UK 2014 lite.
I'm loving the Jayhawks lineup next year. Once again it's going to be difficult to get minutes for Frankamp (redshirt?). And the perception of this years team took a sharp uptick after the Duke game, in my mind. I didn't think they had it in 'em yet.
Welcome to Larryville Cliff!
Well Okafor and Jones just took a Dook on my hopes of a sweep. Come on Cliff!
Hopefully Cliff was chuckling as he reposted this... Edit Excuse me retweeted the list.
Yeah!
I wish Hakim Warrick had been a couple of inches shorter.
I loved to hate Frank Martin too. I love nothing about Bruce Weber...

It's GAMEDAY eve!!!
@lighthawk I know it's barely even a considerable option, but espn3 can be watched on replay in the blacked out areas almost immediately after the game airs.
@wishawk Wiggins scouting report said his outside shooting was shaky. I'd say it looks like he's put in the reps to prove the nay Sayers wrong given a large enough sample size (hopefully that's one year not two). 2of 4 last night for three isn't shabby.
Another take-away from last nights game- during warm ups Wiggins outside shot was falling at aa about a 80% clip. Frankamps shot is a thing of beauty, it's just picture perfect. Wiggins shot has little rotation and is fairly flat, but very consistent. I don't think Wiggins shooting ability will be an issue.
I was able to attend last nights game. There was one call right in front of where we were sitting that as soon as the ref blew the whistle he turned red knowing it was a bad call. There were about 15 calls that made me turn red though. I miss having a flow to the game. If these rules hold up Roy Williams' style of ball will definitely have an advantage (esp. Since Roy can't teach D).
My take away from the game: the rule enforcement is terrible for the game now; Tarik Black is a mountain of a man; Seldens shoulders are as wide as Blacks; Wiggins can very quietly have 16 points (I can't wait for him to make some noise!); Embiid is loooong (and will be very good someday soon).
If Bill can put the pieces together and figure out how to play aggressive D within the "new" rules this team will be scary good!
What kind of camera is allowed in Allen Fieldhouse?
No slr, but are small cameras allowed or just camera phones?
Thanks
Is there a way to make a change, down the road, where if you click on favourite on your own comment it tells you who clicked favourite? As opposed to self favouriting which is far less sexy than it sounds.
@bskeet it was a false report that claimed wiggins would make 140-160 million for his first 7-10y year contract. A few days later the contract amount was corrected to 7-10 million over 7 years by an anonymous source. I can't find the article, but there are many that say the 140 million amount is false.
I think we all know the kid is gonna get paid, but unless he puts up Durant like numbers forget about 100mil+. I think 1-2 mil a year is probably too low also. I'd look closer to 5-7 million a year if Wiggins impresses. IMHO
@wissoxfan83 The KU sports site needs to remain under 1 million unique viewers to remain in the category that they won. I'm sure their recent policy will help assure that.
Thanks for looking into this. It's a minor bug, but anything to make this site better!
Sorry for my delayed response, but it looks like it's been covered above. That is the exact problem I was having.
Just playing.
@DoubleDD the amount reported was false. It's going to be more like 7-10 million. Chump change :)
@CivilHawk Keep it civil... ;)

The problem occurs when I turn the iPad. The screen zooms in and won't return to normal. If I start the site with the iPad length wise it looks fine until I turn the iPad up and back.
Does anyone know about the progress of the new track ands field facilities that are being built in West Lawrence?
Hopefully the women's track team can capitalize on their momentum from last season!
After watching this years football team, I really don't think getting the track out of Memorial Stadium is going to attract more recruits without signs of improvement on the field(like wins).
The page on my iPad is too large for the screen and you have to scroll side to side to read posts. It won't let me zoom in or out. This started yesterday.
I agree with Blown and JayDocMD the older threads need to be archived anything over 12 threads to a week old needs a separate place. The archived threads should still show up in in the unread section if there's activity which will help visibility of active discussions. Also that should help funnel people into the same threads to create more opportunity for quickly developing conversations.
Hard to believe I've read over 1200 posts on this site already.
