What in reality what we have tomorrow night is a Classsic game, 2 really really good teams, They have some really good 3 pt shooters, we have some really good 3 pt shooters just please try to think of this game as objective as possible, bring in scenario's positive or negative.- - - Ok having said that- - -I being the big Jayhawk as I am- - I have thought and still just think, we WILL come away with the win. Now here is my reasons. !st and foremost, it's being played at the phog, the atmosphere is going to be nuts, we protect home court. 2nd I think our combination on our c5's is a huge plus, maybe not more talented, but just the sure numbers, we have those 5 bigs that can all bring something and can continue to lean on Oklahoma bigs we have 5 guys who can be very aggressive knowing they can because of depth at the position. #3 just overall depth: Oklahoma had a very hard game on Saturday night, short turn around #4 and here I think will be the biggest thing- - - -I think overall defensively, we are really going to get after it, looking for Devonte & Frank to play a huge role yes very true, Oklahoma has a pretty good defense in their own right BUT again, with us at home- - -the fans- - the atmosphere, and I think will be no problem with the team being pumped I just think our Defense is going to be a huge plus. The only possible scenario that can be negative that I see is after a so so 3pt showing by Buddy Saturday Night, he comes out and just kills it and they get on a run early and WE are playing catch up- - -Not good against Oklahoma, OK. let me hear you. @Lulufulu I really don't know why, I think sometimes with some of these players mo so now these days lots of influence coming from all different directions, take Josh Jackson for an example, has friends that have committed to Michigan State constantly hounding him, getting in his ear, saying HEY man you gotta sign play with us man, we could be the next fab 5 things like that, then he has to deal with outside pressure just from local on him about staying home, then I'm sure depending I guess from the brand of shoe, you probably have some kind of influence or feeling of commitment to them, girl friends maybe, not wanting to be apart, ALL just guesses, plus on top of what you said about what they are looking to major in, the best fit, then you have playing time, how you inneract with the coach, relate to and feel about the coach during recruiting process, SO having said that if you think about it in college sport a lot of things to think about, or distract from making the decision ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
@Hawk8086 I personally have to disagree, but that's just me, although they both might list as a 5, I think Marques still wouldn't let Diallo decision determine his decision, I know if Bolden wanted to come Bill would find the place for him I think he could easily play the 4. Bolden exceeds Diallo's talent head and shoulders much more offensive wise, good rim protector, hell of a rebounder rated #1 at his position, I don't feel Diallo staying would really have that big of influence on his decision, it could be worked out for sure & could you imagine Bolden & Diallo combination? makes my mouth water. Plus unless he really gets it quick and turns it on I believe his stock will drop & it's not really all his fault, the NCAA screwed this kid and put him even futher behind, he has shown some brief glimpses, and everyone knows he has motor, but for sure Physically he needs to bulk plus he just has to get some offensive game in place long ways to go in that aspect, we will see, so many of these kids get such terrible advice from agents, spinning their heads in all kinds of directions, getting them to see that almighty dollar or so they get them to believe anyways. little update/info on what I feel needs to be hopefully nu 1 get in the recruiting class of 2016 guys that's my feel, my take, anyways has to be our top top priority. Just read on the site about recent games he has played and to say the least the kid is just killing it. on December 5th , he goes for 22 pts- - - 20 rebounds- - and 4 blocks vs Sequin, Texas in the Whataburger tourney in Texas. then on December 28th , he goes for 36 pts- - - 16 rebounds- - - 6 blocks vs Lake Ridge in Whataburger tourney in Texas then on December 29th he goes off for 33 pts- - - 10 rebounds , the guy is a beast Still shows us with a pretty comfortable margin this was just updated. Shows Ku trending at 57 % - - then Duke at 33 % and then Kentucky at 10 %. Ya I know there are you that DON'T believe this but like has also been stated by others when your getting this late in the recruitment period, I'm going put something into it. There are just factors that lead me to believe we are so close on this kid, he made is official visit to Ku & then later canceled his other visits to Duke and Kentucky, then Duke signing Giles, ya there is a few, very few that say he wants to play with Giles, and to that I say and others say besides me off other recruiting sites say that just NO WAY, we shall see I've had this feeling from the get go on this kid, time will tell but I think we are RIGHT THERE would be HUGE. Watching West Virginia- - Virginia Tech, and ya it's gonna be a war in the big 12. hold home serve and steal 1-2 on the road. Gonna be really stiff test AGAIN at west Virginia, defensively they cause such frantic pace all over the court. # 1 in 3pt defensive % in nation, 18 offensive rebounds per game #1 in the nation, 21.9 forcing turnovers # 1 in the nation 29 pts per game off turnovers # 1 in the nation. Having said that just like in this game, West Virginia almost double the amount of shots 19 to Virginia Tech 10 Tech still only trails by 4. The thing thatis or should help us having 2 pt guards on the floor at the same time. Commentators talking about it sayin Tech has kind of figure out 2 pt guards the big thing is ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK the rim make them pay drive the ball should be a great conference race. Guys, rather we approve of it, like it, or want it, bottom line is, I'm beginning to think that's this season our 5 spot will not be settled type of situation, Bulk, quickness, whatever the scenario. I can't say whether it's a good thing or a bad thing for 100% sure, it's not the ideal situation, at least for me, but then again I'm not the coach either, obviously the man is doing something right or else his record wouldn't be what it is, we wouldn't have won 11 straight conference championships, it's not his job to keep ALL fans happy, what is his job is to win, and WIN he has. The one thing about so many bodies at the 5 is when the guys go in they can play aggressive we have ALOT of fouls to give, I would love to see more of Cheick, but he is just behind he will be there that's for sure AT SOME POINT this season and that's a nice thing to know, to have him and traylor bring energy lots of energy that's for sure obviously Cheick more athletic but just raw. So I guess whether we like it or not we might as well settle in and go along for the ride, take it for what it is, I just don't think things are going to change, well not for some time anyways it's going to be a committee spot. I'm sure in an ideal role Coach would love to settle on 1 taking over the 5 but if no one stands out over the others, then how is he gonna make that decision? Hope it gets settled but if it doesn't- - we continue to win, play the situational 5 then so be it. I've said as far as point production, we don't need a lot from the 5, we get 9-10 pts a game out of that spot then ok, we have scorers what we need out of the 5 is rim protection, rebounding, some defense and little scoring fine the more scoring great, but NOT a necessity . Well I'm behind Coach 100% I don't really care how he does it, as long as we continue to win like we do yr after yr then cool, I mean as far as Cheick, ya I would love to see him with more time BUT all we see is game time and wonder WHY is he not playing him more? Well for one Coach gets to see him day in & day out not just on game night and using a lot of what we've heard he was surpose to be like, again the kid is very, very, very raw shows glimpse of you just know like look out, but then he shows ALOT of that bewildered look like ummmm what am I surpose to do, where am I surpose to be, Coach see's his production every day in practice, you have to bring it every day practice included not just game time, and I'm not saying he doesn't but he still is raw, and he is behind just like was mentioned during the game by the commentators thanks to the NCAA which thanks again you jerks, but it is awfully hard to agrue about Coaching ability and or thinking or how he does things when the guy is 196-9 at Allen since he has been here 98-4 against non con at Allen since he has been here and 365-79 overall and won 11 straight big 12 titles and a National Championship, kind of hard to battle that, bring any thing against those kinds of records. Oh sure we cal all sit back and say well he should of won more National titles, - - -ya? what school doesn't say that? all schools would love to win the title almost yearly but ummm, that's easier said then done, a lot of things go into play for that to happen. How is the team playing at the time of the NCAA'S, injuries play into it as we well know, what team is on a roll, no matter how good you are, it only takes 1 bad game in the NCAA'S and your done, in a lot of those games if we were to play best of 3 or best of 5 we would win, but this is 1 game looking forward to the big 12 race. ya, true about target on our back- - - -BUT we always have a target on our back, because our uniforms have the word Kansas written across the front of them, We are targets because we have won league title yr after yr after yr, you KNOW you are a target when another university adds incentive clauses in their coaches contract if they can beat KU, you know you have that target when you go to an opposing teams arena and that team has been averaging half or less then half capacity all year long BUT yet when we come to play that arena is packed standing room only a lot of times, so this team needs to realize nothing has changed we STILL have that big bulls eye on our chest. we are the hunted by these teams just like every other year, the boys just need to strap it up and play like they have played and we are going to be ok. Agree 100 % I truly believe in his post game that Coach was letting it be known without coming right out and mentioning names that HEY it's now or never we are not going to keep subbing people in for no matter how long, we are not going to sub in just to say we tried to get everyone playing time, so either you step it up and that means a lot IN PRACTICE you got to bring it to practice as that's where Coach REALLY sees how someone is progressing a lot of the time, you just can't go through motions or so so in practice and expect 15-20 minutes of game time. @jaybate-1.0 I've seen them ALOT, just a basketball junkie, and their big men are not close to what they have had in the past, they look average very beatable especially in Allen, don't get me wrong, won't be no blow out by any means they have maybe 1 legit big and that's hell can't spell his name but begins with a P, the freshman Skail is not doing anything as a matter of fact he came of the bench lost his starting spot, his draft status has dropped and continuing to drop, the kid from Austr isn't really a lot, he is ok but not anything to be awed by, hasn't played huge minutes, and up until last Saturday against Louisville they have really struggles as a team in general to shoot the ball from the outside, look pretty average, good team but NOTHING toteams of the past. Well guys, here we are practically, on the eve of big 12 play, less then a week. So got a question as we now it's not going to be easy, so the question is Who would you rather see win their matchup Iowa State, over Oklahoma Or Oklahoma over Iowa State and why? Just my own personal opinion, I think I would much rather see Iowa State over Oklahoma for the reason s of- - - Actually I feel Oklahoma is a stiffer challenge to us then Iowa State especially with the loss of long, I just feel the loss of long is going to really hurt Iowa State a lot in the long run, already a short bench, but I feel Oklahoma is the stiffer challenge, don't get me wrong both are going to give us a run that's for sure, but would be really sweet to see Oklahoma to open league with a loss, It would be a loss on their home floor, then they have to come into the phog for their 2nd conference game, we win that one against them and BAM they are 2 back right off the bat. Ok guys, I know this doesn't pertain to Basketball but, Just wanted to take a minute to wish each and everyone of my new found KU brothers a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR, I hope you al get to enjoy family & friends, wishing you nothing but the best. you know what? wouldn't it be great to be able to change spots with Coach? I mean he could come switch spots in our house, let him sit in the recliner, kick back have his brew, or pop, or tea WHATEVER, and some chips have his snack, be able to kick back watch the game, be able to yell at the TV,& we be the coach? wouldn't that be sweet? ummmm 2nd thought, you know what? I think I'll stick with Coach Self, his play calling, his decision making, I mean I think I'll go with the guy that ummmm I dunno- - that has won 11 straight conference championships, that is 195-9, hasn't lost 10 games at home since he has been here, a coach that has won a national Championship for us, a Coach who's teams have been in the top 25, and close to the very top of the top 25 since he has been here, and what I think I heard he is or right about like 361-79 a 82% winning pct in his coaching career? - - -umm ya, I think I will have a tendency to stick with him instead of myself or any of ya all's as the coach, Ya Ya I know we all could be THAT coach right? sure looks like he has to be making some right decisions for him to have accomplished, what he has accomplished, I just got this feeling that he might, just might know just a little bit more about whats going on then we do, so I think I'll just continue to sit here in my recliner, drink my juice and be able to chill and let the Coach,- -Coach we gonna be ok, our C5's ARE GONNA BE FINE. Until Cheick, can come to the realization that he is not going to be able to block every single thing that comes to the basket, until Cheick comes to the realization that he has to stay on his feet and not leave them everytime there is a little head fake, until Cheik can stay on the floor without committing a fould like a foul every 2 minutes, exp ( fouls out in 10 minutes of playing time) then he will continue to get limited minutes, yes he looked better the amount of time he was in last night, more relaxed, but like others have said Jamari was getting it done, & I have no problem what so ever with Coach playing him the amount of time he did. Well after watching video, I feel better. For a guy his size whaaa, 7ft 6 they say, for a guy that size, he only averages 8 points a game and 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 blks? that's NOT GOOD. and like some have said looks slow, we can run him out of the gym, a kid that size ought to be getting at least 10-11 pts a game AT LEAST and 2.5 rebs? for that size? are you serious? he ought to be making a living on the boards, and only 1.5 bls for a kid that is 7ft6? I mean come on, for sure he is huge wght wise, yes no matter who we pit on him is going to have a big disadvantage, Jamari only 6ft 8 Hunter 6ft 10 but light frame and would still be giving up 8 inches, same way with Landon very might well be one of those situational times for our C5 Landon more mass & muscle, Cheick 6ft 9 with 7 ft 4 wing span but way to light to match up so my guess is Landon will play more, but not really that concerned about a lot of damage being done by him, he will get some points but by far feel he will not be a major factor. @BeddieKU23 that sounds fine, but there is evidence as far as DUKE anyways which was surpose to be the heavy hitter being reported and even repeated in here by some, people sayin Oh he wanted to play with and or along Giles, people sayin NO chance he is coming to KU definitely solid on DUKE. then low and behold the aticle last night says very close between KU and Fla State with Fla State a slim lead and that Duke had just hollered at him a couple of days ago, which again tells me, even if he was so rock solid DUKE, then why at the last minute they all of a sudden holler a Adulike? what that tells me is, that sure they have been recruiting Marques, but now feel they have lost out on him or not much chance of getting him, that's why they holler at Adulike, I feel Marques ends up landing HERE have always felt we had a really got shot, just have to wait and see. I have no problem with Traylor playing the amount of time he did in the 2nd half, great energy, & like the announcers said really good job rebounding for us pretty much help us fend of San Diego charge in the 2nd half. Don't really believe it was so musch as the others NOT playing well as Jamari was playing pretty well, Again NO problem what so ever with how he played Jamari in the 2nd half. Hmmmm, just read this on 247 this was at like 9:15 tonight, Article or a piece I should say on Udoka Azubuike. He told the reporters that he was looking to announce AT LEAST he was quoted by the end of January but could be sooner. Now he listed 4 Schools, KU , Flordia State , North Carolina , & Duke. Interesting part is that 247 said it was being informed to them that it was a very tight race between KU & Flordia State, with Flordia State holding a very slim lead, what was also interesting is that they said Duke had just made contact yesterday hmmmmmm? I thought they had been in on him- - if not I would say pretty late now , which in turn brings up another interesting thought- - -If they felt they had Bolden I their sights and in control , then why at this late minute would they be making contact with Udoka? Could it be that they have come to realize that Marques isn't going to commit to DUKE like so many on here have been sayin he was a lock for DUKE? so now they are scrambling to get Udoka?, Which also means could very well be that Marques indeed lands here afterall, - - - Thoughts guys? and if you had your choice?- - - - who would it be? Bolden- - Azubuike- - -or even seen that possibly still MAKER, a he is planning visits to 4 schools- - KU , Ariz State , Norte Dame, - -Indiana. So of the 3 who would you want to end up with? Well at THIS particular point and time, I too feel at best would NOT be any better, cause until Cheick learns how to be able to stay on the floor with out fouling he would do absolutely no good for them, at this point there is no way he cam come close to staying on the floor for 15-20 without getting into foul trouble, but then again if he was at UK I wouldn't care because its UK lol.
